[tw] Re: [TW5] Windows Desktop Interactive TiddlyWiki 5

2017-07-17 Thread TonyM

I did remove the larger folder icons, The yellow ones are generated by the
FireFox Plugin. A plugin I imagin may fail in future FF updates. I think it
needs to be in the Browser rather than tiddlywiki to access Windows
Explorer.

I would love to see stronger intergration with the local computer where
ever it comes from. The security issues can be overcome, it just needs the
will.

Regards
Tony

[tw] Date format with the Timeline plugin in TW5

2017-07-17 Thread Julien H

Hello,

I am using TW5 with the plugin to create a Timeline called *"Visual
timeline widget plugin v0.8.1". *This is a very interesting plugin. You can
check an example of the plugin use and
the description on the forum

In the syntax in the tiddler, I use

<$visjstimeline filter="[tag[Planning]]" startDateField="start"
endDateField="end" format="DD/MM/"/>

And I would like to also use hours and possibly minutes. I tried a
different syntax like

format="DD/MM/ HH:MM"

This doesn't work and I would like your input. Have you try this plugin?
Did you manage to use hours in your timeline?

[tw] Re: [TW5] How do I change font colors?

2017-07-17 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
One way is to back out in the CSS inspector tool and find what other
classes or tags apply to the current situation, and create styles based on
that. For instance, for the search box, it appears that :

div.tc-sidebar-lists .tc-search-results a.tc-tiddlylink { color: blue; }

will make search results blue.

But if you want to make a lot changes, and and want things to work
together, it might be better to make your own colour palette. Under the
tools tab on the right hand side you can find a button for colour palettes.
Experiment to find which one is closest to what you want. The palette you
last selected can be found inside $:/palette
. Open the one you like as a
tiddler, clone it, and change the name and description fields at the
bottom. Then see how things work by changing colors of various attributes.

For instance, you can change the color of the sidebar, both for search and
for menu linking in the sidebar by changing this attribute:

sidebar-tiddler-link-foreground: red

Using the colour palette button from the tools tab again, you can make your
palette the one currently in use.
In this way you can customize your TW and quickly apply it to other TW5
files that you make.

Good luck,
Mark

[tw] Re: Create tiddlers from an external program?

2017-07-17 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
The issue with JSON is TW is whether its FULL JSON. As far as I grasp it it
cannot natively cope with complex JSON data structures, only basic
non-hierachical JSON. For that it works well as far as i can see.

[tw] Re: Create tiddlers from an external program?

2017-07-17 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
For your log-tracking use-case, it might be simpler to transfer the file to
an XLSX file and then use the existing XLSX importer to convert that into
tiddlers.

Python has a JSON encoder/decoder. You can export a couple tiddlers as JSON
to see what format TW wants for its data. It seems like if you export your
data generated by python as a JSON you could then drag and drop the
resulting JSON back into your TW.

Have fun,
Mark

A word of advice:

That is precisely the attack vector to which you (we) are most vulnerable.
You cannot know or ascertain whether your friends are or have been exposed
to malware *designed* to use that precise attack vector. Attackers and
their code *rely* on us behaving that way.

Be safe. Take extreme care with ALL sources - even more care with friends.

[tw] Re: My Transclusion headache

2017-07-17 Thread PMario
Hi Tony,

It's all relatively straight forward. .. I think I know, what causes your
headaches.

The fact, that you can't do $(var)${{!!field}} .. It needs to be
$(var)$$(secondVar)$ ... to work

The fact, that the list-widget modifies the currentTiddler by default. ...
BUT there is a "variable" parameter, which is very handy, but definitely
"underused" by new users.

I did add an attachment, that you can analyze.

 - It contains a stylesheet tiddler, to customize the buttons. and
 - a new-set-template template, that is automatically activated, when a
tiddler has a "tab-list" field.
 - The buttons are hidden, if the tab-tiddler contains some text! .. So if
the tiddler exists, but is empty, the button will be visible.

have fun!

Re: [tw] Create tiddlers from an external program?

2017-07-17 Thread TJ Hoeft
Thank you so much for the ideas! Much appreciated. Ideally, I was hoping
that the stand alone wiki file would have an API to do what Josiah is doing
with regex. I love TW's rolling history, search and tags. It would be
really great to use in small adhoc programming projects to index things. An
example is working with someone else's code base and making edits. You
need to index the source and isolate a working set to patch in changes.
It's easy to get lost and waste a lot of time trying to remember where you
were. Using TW, one could index, search, annotate and even check in their
notes into a version control system.

Andreas, I will have a look at the code. Josiah, I will see if I can do
custom injection as you described.

Re: [tw] Create tiddlers from an external program?

2017-07-17 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Ciao Andreas & TJ Hoeft

About the only area of computing I would say I am any good at is regular
expressions.

FWIW, I directly create and inject Tiddlers using advanced Grep software
that can run regex over a normal text, html, spreadsheet, or most anything
you want, re-make the result in Tiddlers and directly automatically insert
them into a TW.

The actual mechanics are hard to explain as I'm using proprietary software
to do it. But its worth bearing in mind---Tiddlers are simply text as far
as regex engines are concerned and trivially easy to create that way. This
is more an approach suited to bigger TW--for instance for quickly porting
over whole novels to TW format.

Best wishes
Josiah

[tw] [TW5] NodeJS on Synology NAS

2017-07-17 Thread TonyM
Folks,

I just wanted to point out I have sucessfully installed an instance of
TiddlyWiki on my Synology NAS using the NodeJS V4 package in the package
centre.

It makes sence because the NAS is allways on. I have also learned you can
in some models upgrade the RAM and will be doing that to support an
additional load on the NAS.

To do this I have to use SSH (Using Putty) to load the tiddlywiki session.
All good, it works but I do niot know how to use the SSH session to leave
tiddlywiki running. The server no longer responds when I close the Putty
session. Any NodeJS or SSH Gurus out there know how to fix this?

The Synology NAS now hosts useful information about our internal networks
and Servers, and I can easily add helpdesk services into a tiddlywiki and
more. I was even wondering if it may be an easyier way to make use of the
Browser app on the Smart TV buy browsing to a custom tiddlywiki setup with
Canned Internet links and information, may be even media.

I have not yet worked through the security implications, as perhaps I could
get a DOS attack from fiilling the wiki with spamed tiddlers.

Anyway, I continue to be delighted with my foray into tiddlywiki version 5.
In fact I think I need to "Get a life" :)

Regards
TonyM

[tw] Re: [TW5] Windows Desktop Interactive TiddlyWiki 5

2017-07-17 Thread TonyM
Another Update in this Quest

I am now running a local nodeJS instance of tiddlywiki on each of my
windows machines (and incidently my Android phone). I use windows scheduler
to launch the nodeJS instance on startup so the server is available before
I login. If I am logged in the variouse UNC and File or folder links are
processed by the firefox addon "Local file system links" and will open a
windows explorer windows on folders direct from a click in tiddlywiki. If
browsing a folder from inside firefox I can click on a known file type and
it opens in the app eg; Office 365 apps, if the filetype is unknown I can
r-click > Link Addon > Open containing folder and simply pressing enter
will launch the program or the filetype associated program.

Using the Family tree stylesheet I have now created a simple map of Network
locations eg;

Now combined with my aformentioned OS Command execution I am well on the
way to making the Desktop Interactive TiddlyWiki.

Regards
Tony

Re: [tw] Create tiddlers from an external program?

2017-07-17 Thread 'Andreas Hahn' via TiddlyWiki

Hi TJ,

yes, there is several ways to do this:

1. A few years back I wrote a minimalist example class in python to
save/load tiddlers into an *active* nodejs TW instance, I've attached it
to this email.

2. If you don't need/want a nodejs instance to run you could always
write out '.tid' or '.json' files into the tiddler directory of a nodejs
TW directly, those are very simple file formats. You could also
interface with tiddlyweb[1] (written in python) directly if you need
more advanced features.

3. If you want to write tiddlers into a single-file TW, I don't know of
any direct way, so I imagine the easiest thing to do is to choose one of
the options above and then let the nodejs instance render the
single-file TW.
