[tw5] Re: New graphviz (diagram and graphs) plugin created

2018-07-11 Thread TonyM
Eduardo,

This seems a very promising way to visualise Tiddler relationships, I can
foresee ways to do this however I am not sure how to get the diagrams to
provide internal or external links on click, and being able to render a
caption rather than a tiddler name in such a linke, would also help.

Best wishes
Tony

Drag and drop of the plugin to install does not seem to be working, it
always results in an untitled tiddler with only the plugin title inside it.

Perhaps package it as a json file until you "fix" it.

[tw5] Re: Selecting tags from the drop-down -menu using keyboard

DemoniWaari

Welcome to the community, since your only new you are possibly yet to
discover that TidlyWiki's interface is highly configurable and as you learn
you can almost make it bend to any desire.

I suspect creating tiddler that that adds tags, then giving it a shortcut
key may be somewhat trivial, but you will learn it becomes easy to build
anything, and the community is great help.

Nice work. It doesn't leave relics on the screen like the mermaid plugin
(but yes, I still like mermaid).
Even with this, I am not able to copy the diagrams to paste to another
app. Is this a deficiency of Vis.js? My use case is creating a report in
tw, the copy-paste into email. The text makes it through just fine, but no
joy with the graphics.

Ciao Stobot

I think the issue is "packaging." Users (not just techies, anyone) need a
simple enough procedure/explanation that will work cross browser.

I'm sure if there were ONE method that worked universally well; that was
easy to set-up with a decent tutorial it would gain traction.

I'm pretty sure all it needs is some replacement permissions. Starting
around 4.2 Google started enforcing various permission restraints (this
 was
 disastrous for some uses).

AndTidWiki probably needs to have the new permissions. It also probably
needs to present itself as an editor rather than just as an HTML viewer in
order for Google Dive and ownCloud to work.

2018-07-11 Thread DemoniWaari
Oh nice! This is exactly how I wanted to transition from the tags to the
text field, thank you!

Shame that it does not allow the keyboard selection of tags. If you do add
it into the plugin please let me know :)

Hi @DemoniWaari,

welcome in this Forum :)

there's the KeeBoord plugin which enables
Tab navigation like you describe

I could maybe modify it and make it configurable so that one can press the
down-arrow in the tag input field to be able to select tags by pressing Tab
and hitting Enter to add the selected Tag...
I was already thinking about doing that but didn't find the time

If you want to give the keeboord plugin a try, the tab-navigation can be
enabled in the plugin tiddler, under "config". Just open the ControlPanel,
go to "plugins" click on the KeeBoord plugin and select the "config" tab,
then check the checkbox

hope this helps,
BTC

[tw5] Re: Quickly highlight text for later action CSS WikiText

2018-07-11 Thread Stobot
Fantastic! Wow that teaches me a lot for future needs - I appreciate the
help and ideas - Mark, Tony and Mohammad

I ended up combining all methods you describe Mark. For my future reference
and anyone who's following along:

   - Edit $:/core/ui/EditorToolbar/superscript and replaced ^^ with == so
the button (and eventually keyboard shortcut) does ==
  - Remapped the shortcut for superscript in ControlPanel>Keyboard
Shortcuts to ctrl-shift-= (mine shows as Firefoxequals for some reason),
and removed the ctrl-shift-p that was in there.
  - Cloned
   $:/core/modules/parsers/wikiparser/rules/emphasis/superscript.js to
   $:/core/modules/parsers/wikiparser/rules/emphasis/mark.js
  - Replaced the \^\^ with == (for anyone reading, I believe the \'s
are needed because ^ is a special character in Regex, not so with =)
  - Replaced text "superscript" and "mark" and tag="sup" to tag="mark"
   - Saved and refreshed

Exactly what I was hoping for - awesome

Tony, that is also a very interesting workflow - for my use-case it's too
many clicks as-is (prefer no-mouse option for maximum speed), but it does
have the additional potential benefits of storing the actual string of the
todo - my method only ends up listing the hosting tiddler. If a variant
could be setup to do most of this workflow from a single keyboard shortcut:

   - Create new tiddler with selected text
   - Maybe add a "todo" tag or something and
   - Replace text with transclusion or something else with highlighting as
   previous solution

... then that would be even one step more powerful. I'll spend more thought
on this - thank you for pointing this out.

[tw5] Selecting tags from the drop-down -menu using keyboard

2018-07-11 Thread DemoniWaari
Complete TiddlyWiki noob here, started using it two days ago.

Is is possible to select a tag with my keyboard from the drop-down -menu
that pops up when I start writing a specific tag? It's quite annoying that
each time I start typing out a tag and I see the correct tag after writing
two or three first letters of it I have to use my *mouse* to select it. I
can't tab to the list and press enter.

Another thing that's relatively annoying is that I have to tab through all
of the edit bar buttons to get to the text field. Can I remove this somehow?

What I'd like to do is start writing a tag, see the one I'm interested in,
press down arrow x times to highlight it, enter to add it and tab to the
text field.

I have NOT rigorously tested this. It may be related to a known problem

2018-07-11 Thread TonyM
Luis,

You are welcome to your view but I have found it quite usable, although
honestly I have a preference for my desktop at this time because I am building
tools to make tiddlywiki a rapid development platform. I have explored all the
possibilities including mobile, especially andriod and belive we have all we
could need. So I find it hard to agree with you.

True I already have plans to build what I need to make noteself import export
changes.

I will be happy to share going forward.

Hey dude, I created two new (minimal) palettes, called Spartan Day and

[tw5] Re: Editing TiddlyWiki files on Android

2018-07-11 Thread tony
Hi Luis

Sorry for the belated reply.

I'm glad you found a workable solution and shared it.

Another possibly should you
reconsider: https://github.com/pmario/file-backups

pmario's file-backups extension works for me on Android 7.1.1 with a
standalone TiddlyWiki html file running FireFox.

The key is to place the file a directory in the Downloads directory. My
example path is file:///storage/emulated/0/Download/myWikis/wiki.html

Serial backups are made on save, I unset autosave to save hardware sd card
wear and tear.

The file can also be synced with apps like AutoSync https://metactrl.com/

Unfortunately, like you, I found my handheld performance lacking in
usability and use termux with VimWiki as a primary capture tool.

TiddlyWiki still works and used for 1 off notes when I use Firefox

Best,
tony

[tw5] Re: Editing TiddlyWiki files on Android

2018-07-11 Thread FrD
Hi Luis,

The method in my previous message is not very smart ! You'd better use the
webdav server for what it's meant to do :
- start the server
- choose the root directory (SdCard for me)
- open a new tab in Chrome
- type http://localhost/8080/ in the address bar
- navigate through the directory structure until you find your local files
(you'd better locate them before of course !)

Hi Luis,

First you start the webdav server.
Then you have to type yourself the address (http://localhost:8080/... etc)
in the address bar of your browser, at least for the directory where your
local files live.
That's the cumbersome part as the path to the directory is often a bit
complicated !
That way the directory is served by the webdav server.
Then by clicking on a link of a TW, the file opens in the browser ; the
file is also served by the webdav server. Or you press on the link and
choose "open in a new tab". It's a better way as you keep your tab with
your directory always open.

[tw5] Re: Editing TiddlyWiki files on Android

2018-07-11 Thread Luís de Sousa
Hi TonyM,

thank you for your message. My conclusion, after three days of experiments,
is that TiddlyWiki is not actually usable on Android at this point. With a
good deal of effort it is possible to edit a TiddlyWiki file on Android,
but in such cases synchronisation is entirely manual. For TiddlyWiki to be
fully usable we would need either a browser extension or a TiddlyWiki
editor application. Without such asset it is just too complex (and risky).

I am now using Markor ,
that perfectly meets my needs. Markor also seems to be a good basis to fork
into a TiddlyWiki editor.

Best wishes to the project.

Luís

[tw5] Re: Editing TiddlyWiki files on Android

2018-07-11 Thread Luís de Sousa
Dear Mark et al.,

I went to great strides trying to get AndTidWiki going, but it is designed
in such a way that is simply unusable. For instance, by forcing file
storage in the sdcard, it makes impossible the creation of a symlink to a
synchronised folder.

Since it is not open source, and has lacked maintenance for five years, my
advice to the community would be to drop it from list of supporting
applications.

Cheers.

[tw5] Re: Editing TiddlyWiki files on Android

2018-07-11 Thread Luís de Sousa
Hi again FrD,

I am able to point the browser to the correct location through the WebDAV
server. However, the browser then opens the file itself, which of course is
pointless.

Thank you.

 Hi Luis,

 I'm using WebDAV serveur (here
 )

to edit TWs on my android phone. My TWs are stored on Dropbox and synced
with my phone via the dropbox app..
It works fine and should work with owncloud. Or at least it's worth a
 try.

 Regards

 FrD
