FEI did not own Morion, they owned a number of shares. Some time ago the Russian government forced them to sell all, or almost all of their shares to keep Morion fully Russian-owned. Unfortunately they are not easy to deal with on a commercial level (to put it into objective terms), and thus probably only FEI is using them in their products. bye, Said In a message dated 6/9/2012 06:20:57 Pacific Daylight Time, li...@rtty.us writes: Hi They certainly own a co-production facility located inside the Morion factory in St. Petersburg. Re: [time-nuts] Morion MV89A pics
Hi A double oven should be one oven inside another oven. To count as an oven, you need a surface to heat, heaters, a temp sensor, and a controller. Insulation also comes in handy. You can indeed to multi zone heaters, but that's not the way a double oven works. The enclosure in the MV89 pictures should be the outer oven. Inside that there likely is another set of heaters and past that the crystal. The enclosure appears to be soldered shut. Further investigation is likely to trash the unit. Of course if somebody has one they hooked up backwards on the supply... Extremely delicate that fluffy contton, try not to tear apart it so that you can place it again on top when closing the MV89. In my opinion the internal oven is the inner one... There's a TO-220 device on the circuit board (you can see the pins in one of the photos), but it appears to be a voltage regulator (connected to the input and ground). Besides, there's foam insulation between the circuit board and the base of the shell. There's certainly enough room inside that second soldered can for one of those Vectron 69.something MHz OCO500-18 freebie OCXOs. -- newell N5TNL ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.

Thanks for the pictures Scott, it was interesting to see under the shell of these. I wasn't expecting the inside to look so hand made. I think what we see in the pictures is the outer oven. It looks like there are 6 pins running into it via the main PCB, more than enough to run the inner oven and oscillator. regards, Sam ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
