[Bug 2058816] [NEW] Crash when editing an application whose icon was deleted

2024-03-23 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Setting and externally deleting an icon causes alacarte to crash when
editing that application.

Edit Applications > Gvim
Set /mnt/shared/icon-gvim.png as the icon
In Terminal, mv /mnt/shared/icon-gvim.png /mnt/shared/icons/icon-gvim.png
Accessories > Gvim > Properties

Actual:
Crash. Alacarte doesn't close, but the preferences window never opens and I get
a "alacarte has crashed" popup window. Subsequent attempts to edit Properties
of Gvim do nothing. Clicking Properties for other applications still works.

Expected:
Icon is automatically set to empty, loaded with a ? placeholder, or I get an
error message with an option to clear the set icon.

Thanks for making a great gui for editing applications! It's nice to have a
simple streamlined editor for customization.

[Bug 1625712] [NEW] Power button no longer opens interactive menu in Xenial

2016-09-20 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

In gnome-shell, the hardware power button does not open the interactive
power menu. It sleeps the computer instead.

The configuration backend to customize this behaviour was intentionally removed
in commit [50564cde49ca2][1] (for [bug 753713][2]). After [some
discussion](https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=755953), it's returned
in [gnome-settings-daemon
3.20](https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=755953#c29).

Unfortunately, 3.20 is not in the [16.04 ubuntu
repos](https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon)
(however there is a 3.20 release for Yakkety 16.10).

Can 3.20 be released in xenial-updates?

Removing this functionality is a disruptive change and it appears it was
introduced in the Xenial LTS release (3.17 was not in Wily). While I
understand gnome doesn't follow Ubuntu's stable release strategy and
this is one in a large system of applications, can we get gnome-
settings-daemon upgraded to 3.20 in Xenial?

Use case scenarios for why this is disruptive:

* [Accidentally hitting the power
button](https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/3oddse/buttonpower_gone_in_318/cvwd2ho)
sleeps the computer without recourse. The interactive menu gives you 60
seconds to cancel.
* Laptops can already suspend when the lid is closed. While the power button
can be configured to hibernate instead of sleep, my laptop does not support
hibernate. Now I have a nonfunctional button (when configured to hibernate) or
two ways to do the same action.
* Laptops with low battery life cannot last long in suspend state. (And again,
hibernate does not always work.)
* The initial change was made to make the media buttons do what their labels
say, but the "power" button no longer controls powering off the machine.

Removing "shutdown" from the list of configurations is reasonable on the
grounds that it is destructive, but removing "interactive" doesn't
follow since it's the least destructive. The power button was the most
convenient way to invoke that menu.

Thank you for your consideration.

[Bug 999985] Re: remmina goes full-screen on the wrong monitor

2014-08-29 Thread DavidBriscoe
Remmina always goes to right monitor. If I swap my monitors in the
Displays config app, then Remmina goes to the new right monitor. (So it
appears to have nothing to do with which monitor is primary, only which
one is on the right.)

So the workaround is to set the monitor where you want Remmina as the
monitor on the right side. (And even if you change which monitor is on
the right after fullscreening Remmina, it will move itself to that
screen.)

[Bug 1315041] Re: The launcher doesn't show “several windows are running” mark

2014-05-24 Thread DavidBriscoe
Also occurs for me. The indicator seems to only update when the
application loses focus instead of when the current window loses focus
(which would catch every case except if an application opened a window
in the background). So alt-tabbing to another application will fix the
window markers.

Open Terminal
Open Chromium
New window. (I now have two chromium windows open but only see one marker.)
Switch to Terminal. (Chromium now correctly shows two window marker.)
Switch to Chromium.
Close window. (Ubuntu switches to terminal since it is the last window active.
Chromium correctly shows one window marker.)

All the files in /var/log/installer/ have a timestamp of Aug 1, so I
guess that's when I did my clean install of Precise?

I have no idea when I moved these files. It seems my issue has been
improved -- the files are now 0 bytes.

Re: [Bug 728700] Re: Nautilus doesn't clean up temporary files from cancelled file copies

2012-11-26 Thread DavidBriscoe
I'm fairly certain I didn't log out and in. (Maybe I did after the
first occurrence, but I recall doing this several times in
succession.)

I doubt it was lightdm: I reported this on Maverick (10.10). According
to this link [1], lightdm became default in 11.10. I don't tend to run
alphas or nondefault core software.

I also do clean installs for each upgrade and haven't noticed this
issue recently (on precise). (Although, I only noticed before because
I ran out of disk space.)

We believe that the .goutput files are to do with lightdm, so your
experience is interesting. Can you remember if, when you cancelled your

[Bug 642792] Re: ALT+PrtSc not recognised: breaks built-in screenshot function

2012-08-08 Thread DavidBriscoe
On precise (fresh install):

Alt-PrtScn does a full-screen screenshot (screenshot is taken when I
release Alt). My keyboard settings pane still says that Alt-Print should
screenshot a single window.

I haven't run sysctl and my sysrq value seems to have defaulted to 1:

$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
1

Except that something has modified it:

$ ls -ul /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Aug 8 09:13 /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
$ ls -l /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Aug 8 09:13 /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq

(That's 3 minutes before I started writing this comment.) I haven't done
any sudo commands today, but maybe one of the PrtScn key combos did it?

[Bug 1002701] [NEW] Compiz hangs with 100% CPU usage in commit_transaction()

2012-05-22 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Sometimes (I think it's when I'm switching programs), I lose all
responsiveness in my Unity desktop. I can move the mouse, but clicking
does nothing. If I switch to a virtual terminal (tty1), I can run top
and see that compiz is running at 100 or 101% cpu usage.

On bug 885498 I was asked to run dstack and attach my output
(hang.dstack). I attached output from several runs of dstack to that
bug, but I figured it would be better to attach and check where compiz
is really getting hung up.

I installed libdee-1.0-1-dbg, attached to compiz with gdb, and I get a
similar stack trace with 'bt' to the dstack output. Each time I run
'finish', it returns control until I reach #20 (commit_transaction). At
this point, when I run 'finish', it waits for a long time (minutes) to
return. Presumably something in commit_transaction should be returning
to eventLoop() and allowing the UI thread to update?

From compizstack.txt:
#20 0x7f0e96f0492b in commit_transaction (self=0x3711130,
sender_name=0x3aa1d50 :1.111, transaction=0xb478390) at
dee-shared-model.c:1064

Similar to bug 815996 (but I'm not switching workspaces) and bug 773564
(but I have File Watcher disabled).

[Bug 793450] Re: Calendar applet does not show today's date

2012-04-11 Thread DavidBriscoe
I have indicator-datetime 0.3.1-0ubuntu1 and I see the bug as written up
in duplicate bug 799465. (The text is wrong, but the highlighted number
is right.)

I think I've seen the other way around as well.

At the moment, the text says Apr 9 even if I dismiss the indicator and
open it again. (The date command shows Apr 11.) The uptime command shows
I've been logged in for 3 days. (So Apr 9 is probably my most recent
login.)

[Bug 913241] [NEW] Request: Don't do a countdown between burst photos

2012-01-07 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

When you take photos in burst mode and have countdown enabled, it does a
countdown between every photo instead of just the first photo.

I'd like it to do a countdown for single photos and for the first photo
of a burst. Since burst is less useful (to me) when there's a countdown,
I have countdown disabled.

[Bug 597092] Re: palimpsest cannot unmount partition in fstab

2011-12-31 Thread DavidBriscoe
In order to work around this bug, you can run `sudo palimpsest` from a
terminal. Unfortunately, most users would have a hard time figuring out
that palimpsest is the name of the app. (I did. I had to run check the
running processes.)

#3: It's great that root isn't required just to run palimpsest because
the app has a lot of useful features that don't require root. (Maybe
these are new features that used to be exclusive to gparted?) I think a
better quickfix would be to change the error to add run sudo
palimpsest or to have an option that restarts the program as root.
(Unless you mean adding a new launcher.)

[Bug 780841] Re: The files lens includes folders that don't exist

2011-08-12 Thread DavidBriscoe
@Omer: You're right. If I create ~/Downloads, add it to the bookmarks,
remove it from bookmarks, and delete the folder then I don't see it in
my Dash results anymore.

But if you delete any of the bookmarked folders by hand, they are
cleanly removed from the 'Bookmarks' menu instantly

It looks like they might linger somewhere. I recreated the default
folders and navigated to another folder (effectively refreshing
nautilus) and all of the bookmarks were automatically recreated! If I
remove the bookmarks and folders and recreate the folders again, they
don't reappear.

I'm not sure if that's a feature of the bookmarks or part of the same
bug.

[Bug 780841] Re: The files lens includes folders that don't exist

2011-07-14 Thread DavidBriscoe
@Harry: The folders don't always show up for me because my unity search
results for the same query are often inconsistent (see bug 810823). Are
you seeing a Files Folders section at all (what if you create a file
called ~/downloads.txt)?

Here's more formal steps.

Load up a natty LiveCD
Search down and get the Downloads folder
Delete the ~/Downloads folder from nautilus
Search doc (workaround bug 810823)
Search down and the Downloads folder is still there!

You shouldn't have to do anything other than delete a folder from
nautilus to make it stop showing in your results. That's how it works
for any other file.

I tried applying updates to the LiveCD, but I don't have enough memory.
However, I've updated unity (dpkg -l output changes from 3.8.10-0ubuntu2 to
3.8.16-0ubuntu1-natty1) and run setsid unity to restart unity. The above steps
still show the Downloads folder.

[Bug 790591] Re: More effective launcher area with the workspace switcher and the trash relocated

2011-06-21 Thread DavidBriscoe
Niklas: In the comment #1 mockup, wouldn't the trashcan be very hard to
select with a mouse since the user has to push their mouse all the way
to the left to get the launcher to show (since autohide is on by
default), then move a bit to the right. But they cannot move very far
right or the launcher will hide again.

Also, isn't Unity supposed to be both touch-screen and small-screen
friendly? The launcher is about thumb width, so anything smaller starts
to get difficult to touch.

[Bug 764009] Re: touch typing clash with unity keyboard shortcuts

2011-06-21 Thread DavidBriscoe
That Wikipedia article is long. Is your complaint that most computers
have one Super key and it's on the left side of the keyboard, which is
also where most of the secondary keys are?

Aside from mnemonics, I think one of the reasons that all of the
commands are on the left side is so they can be used in conjunction with
the mouse. Most users are mouse-dependent so they're faster if they
don't need to take their hand off the mouse. Typing Super-l with one
hand is impossible for most people.

Can you elaborate on also it seems that there are too many commands for the
same thing?

expose... and choosing one of the windows or desktops via tab.
I think one reason tab is not available is because it would interfere with the
Scale Window Title Filter plugin. With this plugin enabled, when you invoke
Scale (expose) you can type to isolate windows with titles that match your
query. Although, I guess few windows would have tab in their title. It may be a
useful exception. Regardless, you can use the arrow keys instead.

Also, you can configure some of these keyboard shortcuts:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/29553/how-can-i-configure-unity/29561#29561

You can use CompizConfig Settings Manager to change Spread (Scale),
Workspace Switcher (Expo), Show desktop/maximize/minimize (General
Options), and others.

[Bug 799465] [NEW] Calendar applet shows a different date from `date` command.

2011-06-19 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I'm using Unity.

If I click on the clock, it shows yesterday's date above the calendar,
but highlight's today's date in the calendar grid. I've also seen it
highlight the wrong date.

I can run date in a terminal and it shows the correct date. If I log
out and log back in, the calendar is now correct.

Generally, it looks like it's showing me the date of the last time I
looked at the calendar, but it might be the last time I logged in.

If you run gnome-keybinding-properties (Keyboard Shortcuts in the Dash)

that fix your issue?

[Bug 553256] Re: file operation icon does not match the new look

2011-05-13 Thread DavidBriscoe
This was fixed on my fresh install of Natty (using Unity) along with bug
740540. I checked on a new user account.

There is a system-file-manager-panel.svg icon for both ubuntu-mono-dark
and -light.

Jorge: Are you using Gnome Classic? Did you resize the gnome panel containing
the indicators? If so, that's a different bug. There are currently only icons
for sizes 13, 22, and 24. It should be fixable if a scalable version is
specified. If you're using Unity or haven't resized your panel, can you attach
the output of this command:
  find /usr/share/icons -name system-file-manager-panel.svg

[Bug 749566] Re: Search for a folder gives everything inside the folder, except the folder itself

2011-05-10 Thread DavidBriscoe
Users do generally work with files, but they also group their files
(with folders).

If someone's working on their thesis, then they probably have supporting
data (e.g., images) in the same directory as their text. If they search
for their text, they likely want to open the folder containing it so
they can easily access all related material without having to search for
each one individually.

Removing the need for deep file hierarchies is great, but users need
some way to group their files and that group needs to be accessible from
the search.

[Bug 780841] [NEW] The files lens includes folders that don't exist

2011-05-10 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The first thing I do after I install ubuntu is cd ~; rmdir * to remove
the folders that I don't use. (I already have analogs in another
partition that I mount as ~/data.)

However, these folders (~/Downloads, ~/Documents, ~/Pictures, ~/Videos)
show up in the Dash's search results even though the folders don't
exist. I see these ghost folders in Top Results when searching by
invoking the dash, using Find Files, or using Files Folders.

I tried clearing my zeitgeist history:
rm ~/.local/share/zeitgeist/activity.sqlite
zeitgeist-daemon --replace

But these folders still show up.

[Bug 779309] [NEW] Number of Desktops does nothing

2011-05-07 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager

In CompizConfig Settings Manager, under General Options Desktop Size,
there's an option called Number of Desktops. This option doesn't seem to
do anything and comments on bug 153322 imply that it's a leftover from
Hardy.

It's confusing to users and should be removed. That will make it clearer
that the Virtual Size sliders are for number of viewports.

[Bug 778758] [NEW] The apport hook discourages new bug reports

2011-05-06 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I use ubuntu-bug to report bugs on xorg-related packages (unity,
compiz, xorg), I'm presented with this question:

Development is completed for the 'natty' version of Ubuntu, so you
should use technical support channels unless you know for certain it
should be reported here?

If I found a bug that I want to report, the only applicable yes option
is Yes, The problem began after doing a system software update. This
implies that the developers are interested in regressions, but not new
bugs.

More information on the askubuntu question here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/39358/why-does-ubuntu-bug-imply-that-i
-shouldnt-report-bugs-for-compiz-and-unity

Brian Murray said it's due to xorg's apport hook and I was asked to
report this bug.

It's frustrating as a user to run ubuntu-bug to report a bug, then be
told to go to askubuntu, then be told there that it's a bug and you
should report it. However, I also want developers to spend their
available time fixing real bugs.

Perhaps if the hook added a tech-supported tag to bugs that had
already gone through tech support so that those bugs can rise to the
top?

Or if you could import an AskUbuntu question into a bug report so it
feels like asking on AskUbuntu is an important step in the bug reporting
process. (Yes, copy-paste does most of that, but I think psychologically
it's very different.)

[Bug 575947] Re: Add message indicator applet support

2011-05-05 Thread DavidBriscoe
I would prefer if desktop-webmail avoids needing users to enter their
passwords. I don't store my mail credentials anywhere.

I doubt you can show unread message counts and new mail notifications
without having the user's credentials. Besides, there's lp:gm-notify for
gmail. Wouldn't it be better to extend that project to support different
email providers?

However, it could be useful for desktop-webmail to put _something_ in
that mail spot.

This page shows the Evolution indicator:
http://frugalware.org/~devil505/blog/?p=1632lang=en

So there are several items:
- Mail
- Compose New Message
- Contacts
- email accounts

Seems like it would be nice to have Mail open your account and compose
open a new message. Contacts could open your contacts page (
http://www.google.com/contacts ), but I don't know if that's a simple
link for all of the supported webmail providers.

[Bug 776074] Re: Unity launcher won't switch to appropriate workspace when window against desktop border

2011-05-05 Thread DavidBriscoe
Scale using window picker for all windows displays the application but
is unable to switch to the correct workspace.

I was experiencing this when a window overlaps the desktop's outside boundary:
- If window spans the top and bottom (it wraps off the top screen to the
bottom), then I can't switch to it from the other bottom workspace.
- If window spans the right and left, then I can't switch to it from the other
left workspace.

Workaround: Use CompizConfig General Options Desktop Size Set
Vertical Virtual Size to 1.

[Bug 776681] [NEW] Vim should not hard code the icon path

2011-05-03 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim-gnome

The /usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop file includes this line:
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/vim.svg

But it should use this:
Icon=vim

I have the Faenza icon pack installed and it provides a vim.svg icon.
This icon is not used because the gvim.desktop hard codes the icon path.

However, it looks like the default ubuntu install doesn't include a vim
icon. This issue was mentioned in bug 13409 (see #10). Now that there's
an icon (the faenza one), can the desktop file be updated?

Or was this waiting for a humanity icon to be created for vim?

[Bug 775814] [NEW] Scale Addons' Window Title feature doesn't work under Unity

2011-05-02 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I just installed Natty and am using unity.

I've enabled Scale and Scale Addons in CompizConfig Settings Manager.

I've set Window Title Display (in the Appearance tab) to Highlighted
window only, but I never see window titles when I invoke Scale. (All
windows has the same effect.)

If I enable Window Highlight, I can see the highlight (so my changes in
ccsm are doing something).

I think bug 741950 is suggesting that this feature doesn't work on small
screens, but I have an Inspiron 1545 which is a 15 screen.

[Bug 739647] Re: Update manager error is too small to read

2011-05-02 Thread DavidBriscoe
Ah, RedSingularity I think you're trying to help me fix the error. I
apologize that my title was inappropriate. The error is probably because
I was messing around with faezna's files. I'm not concerned with fixing
it.

The bug is supposed to be about the error dialog. It reports an error in
a tiny dialog that is too small to read the error and cannot be
maximized. I've fixed the bug title.

I just exported my compiz settings, reset to defaults (with the unity

settings, and now Window Title works.

This may be an issue with unity's default settings?

[Bug 665741] Re: The Show password button's text is cut off

2011-04-13 Thread DavidBriscoe
Sorry, I missed your response.

Since I reported this issue, the Chromium team redesigned the
preferences UI. I no longer see any cut-off text. (I'm currently on
Chromium 10.0.648.133 (77742) Ubuntu 10.10.)

However, since the Chromium team has also moved password storage to
Gnome Keyring, I don't have any passwords in Chromium and I don't have a
Show password button.

Regardless, I think this issue can be closed. (But I'm not sure how -- fix
released?)

[Bug 751756] [NEW] Request: Add an image viewer to Preferred Applications

2011-04-05 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

To change your preferred image viewer, you need to set the file
associations for each of the many image types. It would be great to have
an option in Preferred Applications to set your image viewer. (Change
from Eye of Gnome to Shotwell or kuickshow.)

As a workaround, you can use Ubuntu Tweak to set the image viewer:

[Bug 739647] [NEW] Update manager error Package operation failed

2011-03-21 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I did an update today and the error popup is too small to read the error
message. One of my packages failed to install and I got this error:

Package operation failed
The installation or removal of a software package failed.

The details text field is only 3 lines tall, so it's difficult to read
the 30 lines of error text. The popup window cannot be resized.

It looks like the faenza-icon-theme failed to update (from LP-PPA-
tiheum-equinox).

[Bug 730348] Re: Suggestion: Add microphone to Sound indicator applet

2011-03-18 Thread DavidBriscoe
@Matthew: If I understand that correctly, each application that adds
microphone control needs to set a flag in their source
(PULSE_PROP_media.role).

So if I still wanted to be able to always have that option available,
could I just set that environment variable? Or run a service that claims
it's an audio stream (or would that break stuff)?

[Bug 730348] Re: Suggestion: Add microphone to Sound indicator applet

2011-03-15 Thread DavidBriscoe
@Robert: While having it only appear while you're in a skype or mumble
call sounds great, is it possible for it to appear whenever any
application attempts to use the microphone? I was using Gmail's voice
plugin, so even if I was using Natty I wouldn't benefit from the current
implementation, right?

If it's only possible on a per-application basis, then I'd like to see a
setting that makes it always visible (something in gconf-editor would
make me happy).

[Bug 730348] [NEW] Suggestion: Add microphone to Sound indicator applet

2011-03-06 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

I generally have my microphone muted and when I want to run Skype or
something, I'd like an easier way to see that the microphone is muted. I
think it would be great if there was the option to mute/unmute the
microphone from the Sound Indicator (indicator applet on my gnome-
panel).

Another applet that controls microphone volume is another possible
solution, but I think it would be better to add it to the sound
indicator.

Bug #510846 (closed invalid) makes this sound like it's already
implemented, but only shows up sometimes.

[Bug 553256] Re: file operation icon does not match the new look

2011-03-02 Thread DavidBriscoe
The icon is system-file-manager-panel.

You should be able to do something like this as a workaround:
sudo ln -s /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/22/weather-fog.svg
/usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/22/system-file-manager-panel.svg

But that didn't work for me so I installed elementary-mono-dark from here:
http://danrabbit.deviantart.com/art/elementary-Icons-65437279
(And I replaced the existing system-file-manager-panel.svg with
weather-fog.svg).

- uncheck 'media_automount_open'

Seems to work so far. USB drives mount and open in nautilius when

2010-10-28 Thread DavidBriscoe
Just to be sure, this bug is about mutter preventing shortcuts defined
in gnome-keybinding-properties (Keyboard Shortcuts) that use Super
from working, right?

[Bug 668052] [NEW] Top panel temporarily becomes transparent when launching the dash

2010-10-28 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Sometimes when I click the Ubuntu button to open the dash, the top panel
becomes transparent momentarily before my current application disappears
and the translucent dash appears. The panel appears to have its
background set to 100% transparency, so I can see my desktop image
behind the clock and notifiers. Since the dash is not 100% transparent,
the transition is jarring. (Dark color to bright colors to dark tinted
bright colors.)

If I repeatedly click on the Ubuntu button, I don't see the problem. I
think it only happens if I haven't clicked the Ubuntu button for a
while.

I have an Inspiron 1545.

[Bug 665741] [NEW] The Show password button's text is cut off

2010-10-23 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

Options Show saved passwords
The Show password button's text is cut off.

It says Show passwo

When you click it, Hide password is also cut off.

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10, so this may be due to the new system
font. I tried several other fonts (Deja Vu Sans, Trebuchet MS, FreeSans
at 11 pt) and they were cut off too.

Using the ubuntu font at size 9, it is no longer cut off, but I think
this font is too small.

[Bug 630022] Re: Twitter authorization page is in French

2010-09-12 Thread DavidBriscoe
As I posted in my duplicate bug 630305, I have the same problem.

I checked Language Support and the order of my languages is:
English (Canada)
English
...

Is Gwibber assuming Canada == French?

I tried setting up Gwibber with Twitter on a LiveCD, but it doesn't ask
me to authorise.

[Bug 630305] [NEW] Gwibber opens French Twitter authorize page for English system

2010-09-04 Thread DavidBriscoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

I updated Gwibber yesterday and when it started today, it told me I need
to authorize. I clicked the red authorize button and it opened a twitter
page in French Une application souhaite accéder à votre compte.

I checked Language Support and the order of my languages is:
English (Canada)
English
...

My guess is Gwibber read Canada and assumed French?

I don't think I've seen any other application show me French before.
