[Bug 1962308] [NEW] Video captures (e.g. webcam, capture card) are being displayed as "Video Capture 3"
Public bug reported: This issue seems to have been introduced in 5.13 somewhere, I only had 5.13.0-30 and 5.13.0-28 available in grub on the 5.13 branch to test against, but in both instances all capture devices are labelled as "Video Capture 3" where previously it would show the device's actual name. I do still have 5.8 branch and 5.4 branch, and when testing against 5.8.0-63 it showed the names correctly everywhere, and likewise with 5.4.0-64. The number at the end seems to be the number of devices, even though it is getting the counted digit and repeating it for all of them. If I run: $ v4l2-ctl --list-devices I get: Video Capture 3 (usb-:08:00.3-3): /dev/video2 /dev/video3 /dev/media1 Video Capture 3 (usb-:08:00.3-4): /dev/video4 /dev/video5 /dev/media2 Video Capture 3 (usb-:08:00.4-1): /dev/video0 /dev/video1 /dev/media0 The devices I have (from lsusb) are: Bus 003 Device 004: ID 534d:2109 MACROSILICON Bus 003 Device 003: ID 298f:1996 MACROSILICON ShadowCast Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0458:6006 KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems) AUKEY PC-LM1E Camera Previously the devices would be labelled as: MACROSILICON MACROSILICON ShadowCast AUKEY PC-LM1E Camera There appears to be a mismatch in the usb bus numbers too. You'll notice in v4l2-ctl 2 of them are correctly identified as Bus 003 and Device 003 andd 004 respectively (outlined as 00.3-3 and 00.3-4), however the last device shows 00.4-1 but in lsusb this is received as Bus 005 Device 002 - so it should be 00.5-2 if I'm right in the naming conventions that should be used. - 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS Release:20.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center $ apt-cache policy linux-image-5.13.0-30-generic linux-image-5.13.0-30-generic: Installed: 5.13.0-30.33~20.04.1 Candidate: 5.13.0-30.33~20.04.1 Version table: *** 5.13.0-30.33~20.04.1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen The labels of the USB devices to show up correctly in Zoom, OBS, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Cheese, etc so that I can identify which device to use. 4) What happened instead The labels are wrong and given a generic "Video Camera 3" label for all of them - where 3 is the number of devices I have connected. [Bug 1912773] Re: [MS-7C52, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all, second display not working, cpu/agpu performance dropped considerably
Fixed it! However I'm not sure why the file was created when I'm running on AMD hardware and requiring the use of the APU. The bug is that a blacklist file was created in: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-amdgpu.conf With the following line: blacklist amdgpu That obviously prevented the APU drivers to load up, so the HDMI audio sink could be initialised and prevented GPU rendering. This problem could likely affect multiple people and are unaware if they are on a single display and using speakers connected to the motherboard instead of via other means such as the 3.5mm output, optical, or even via Bluetooth. Since the system worked otherwise. The only symptom people on single displays and not using HDMI audio people would experience is when doing anything CPU or GPU intensive, since I can only presume the CPU is doing all the legwork to render the display instead of the APU. For reference the CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5 3400g with Vega 11 APU, and no dedicated graphics card. If anyone needs any additional information, logs, or anything let me know and I'll be happy to help out where I can. I'm just glad that I got this resolved, but I'd hate for others to experience the same issues while updates trickle down (it could also be months before anyone notices on single display and no HDMI audio setups). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912773 Title: [MS-7C52, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all, second display not working, cpu/agpu performance dropped considerably To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/amd/+bug/1912773/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've done more digging and I think the regressing happened sooner, but I only rebooted it on the day I noticed it wasn't working. That means the regression happened on or after these dates. [Bug 1912773] Re: [MS-7C52, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all, second display not working, cpu/agpu performance dropped considerably
Forgot to mention in the original post, but trying to revert all updates that caused the problem (as per the versions listed above) but that didn't work because they no longer exist in the repo (and the system had already cleared the cache). So I always get the error that the package(s) were not found: E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libnss-systemd' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libudev1:i386' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libudev1' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libudev-dev' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'udev' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'systemd-timesyncd' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'systemd-sysv' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libpam-systemd' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'systemd' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libsystemd0' was not found E: Version '245.4-4ubuntu3.3' for 'libsystemd0:i386' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.29' for 'ubuntu-release-upgrader-gtk' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.29' for 'ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.10.1' for 'update-manager' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.10.1' for 'update-manager-core' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.29' for 'python3-distupgrade' was not found E: Version '1:20.04.10.1' for 'python3-update-manager' was not found E: Version '3.192.30.3' for 'update-notifier' was not found E: Version '3.192.30.3' for 'update-notifier-common' was not found E: Version '0.100-0ubuntu4~20.04.3' for 'libnetplan0' was not found E: Version '0.100-0ubuntu4~20.04.3' for 'netplan.io' was not found E: Version '3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2' for 'mutter-common' was not found E: Version '3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2' for 'gir1.2-mutter-6' was not found E: Version '3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2' for 'libmutter-6-0' was not found E: Version '3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2' for 'mutter' was not found -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912773 Title: [MS-7C52, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all, second display not working, cpu/agpu performance dropped considerably To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/amd/+bug/1912773/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1912773] [NEW] [MS-7C52, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all, second display not working, cpu/agpu performance dropped considerably
Public bug reported: After a recent update, I now have a system that can no longer play audio (via HDMI), my second monitor (DVI) is no longer being picked up, and CPU/AGPU usage has lost a lot of performance (OBS is basically unusable at this point). Whatever has happened with the recent updates has caused the AMD drivers (presumably?) to not work correctly - because it is an AMD Ryzen 5 3400g (with no dedicated graphics card). 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu ``` $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS Release:20.04 ``` 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center Not sure which package would be the cause, however these were the version that were working prior to the update: ``` libnss-systemd:amd64=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libudev1:i386=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libudev1:amd64=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libudev-dev:amd64=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 udev=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 systemd-timesyncd=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 systemd-sysv=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libpam-systemd:amd64=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 systemd=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libsystemd0:amd64=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libsystemd0:i386=245.4-4ubuntu3.3 libapt-pkg6.0:amd64=2.0.2ubuntu0.2 apt=2.0.2ubuntu0.2 apt-utils=2.0.2ubuntu0.2 ubuntu-release-upgrader-gtk=1:20.04.29 ubuntu-release-upgrader-core=1:20.04.29 update-manager=1:20.04.10.1 update-manager-core=1:20.04.10.1 python3-distupgrade=1:20.04.29 python3-update-manager=1:20.04.10.1 update-notifier=3.192.30.3 update-notifier-common=3.192.30.3 libnetplan0:amd64=0.100-0ubuntu4~20.04.3 netplan.io=0.100-0ubuntu4~20.04.3 mutter-common=3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2 gir1.2-mutter-6:amd64=3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2 libmutter-6-0:amd64=3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2 jq=1.6-1 libjq1:amd64=1.6-1 linux-firmware=1.187.7 linux-generic-hwe-20.04=5.8.0.38.43~20.04.23 linux-image-generic-hwe-20.04=5.8.0.38.43~20.04.23 linux-headers-generic-hwe-20.04=5.8.0.38.43~20.04.23 linux-headers-generic=5.4.0.62.65 linux-libc-dev:amd64=5.4.0-62.70 mutter=3.36.6-1ubuntu0.20.04.2 ``` This list was generated with the command: `awk 'BEGIN{ start="0" } { if($0 ~ /Log started: 2021-01-20/) { start="1"} if ( start == "1" && $0 ~ /Unpacking.*over/) {gsub(/[\s\t)( ]+/,"",$5); printf("%s=%s ", $2 , $5)}}' /var/log/apt/term.log` 3) What you expected to happen Sound and video working via HDMI on primary monitor, second monitor displaying (extended) video via DVI. [Bug 1768543] Re: Window previews are not horizontally centered in their context menus
I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS / 20.04.1 with the default theme and having the same issue, except my issue is more squashed to the left. I uploaded a screenshot to the bug I filed that was marked as a duplicate here: bug #1886268 https://launchpadlibrarian.net/487131442/Screenshot%20from%202020-07-04%2014-54-32.png People are discussing the issue on Stack Exchange here: https://askubuntu.com/q/1183065/10857 with the following answer fixing the issue for most people: https://askubuntu.com/a/1232740/10857. I've also added my screenshot to the dash-to-dock github. Is there no way to patch this in the user styles? Or is the issue due to the fact that some elements are being removed from the DOM? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768543 Title: Window previews are not horizontally centered in their context menus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dash-to-dock/+bug/1768543/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1886268] [NEW] Window preview isn't centred, it is left aligned and looks wrong
Public bug reported: There is an issue on Ubuntu 20.04 / 20.04.1 where the ubuntu dock extension for gnome is misaligning the preview window - it should be centred based on what I've seen online. This was a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 close to or just after release. People are discussing the issue on Stack Exchange here: https://askubuntu.com/q/1183065/10857 with the following answer fixing the issue for most people: https://askubuntu.com/a/1232740/10857. The problem with that fix is that people shouldn't have to do that - it should already be baked in, so I'm making it aware here so someone can apply this fix if possible since you'll know better if this will break other things or not. 1) $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Release:20.04 2) $ apt-cache policy gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock: Installed: 68ubuntu1~20.04.1 Candidate: 68ubuntu1~20.04.1 Version table: *** 68ubuntu1~20.04.1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 67ubuntu20.04.5 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main i386 Packages 3) Expended the window to be centred in the preview. 4) Preview is left-aligned and looks out of place. [Bug 1852210] Re: problem importing gpg keys "Fatal: can't create directory '/home/hazrpg/~/.gnupg': No such file or directory
Further information... Putting all the files into .gnupg folder didn't work even after a reboot (even though it was a direct backup of this directory). However, when I then tried to generate a new one in the terminal using the following: gpg --gen-key And following the steps there, it created a key successfully AND when opening seahorse again... the old key was discovered too! Interesting, a PGP key can't be created either. I'll attach what happens when I try to. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open seahorse. 2) Click on GnuPG keys. 3) Click on the + sign. 4) Select PGP key and click on continue. 5) Type in a Full Name and E-mail address. 6) Click Create. 7) Enter in a passphrase to protect the key. 8) Error message says "Couldn't generate PGP key" in the title, "No agent running" in the body and a "Close" button is displayed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852210 Title: problem importing gpg keys "Fatal: can't create directory '/home/hazrpg/~/.gnupg': No such file or directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1852210/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852210] [NEW] problem importing gpg keys "Fatal: can't create directory '/home/hazrpg/~/.gnupg': No such file or directory
Public bug reported: There is a problem when importing a GPG private key from a backup, the error message says the File or Directory does not exist - and it looks like its because of the way it's trying to access it. Here's the exact error (verbose as its displayed): Import failed: Fatal: can't create directory '/home/hazrpg/~/.gnupg': No such file or directory It looks like its trying to access ~/.gnupg and at the same time trying to put that in the /home/hazrpg/ directory (hazrpg being my username). It should be one or the other, so its probably a simple fix. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open up seahorse. 2) Click on "File" -> "Import...". 3) Select any valid GPG key file (public, private, etc). 4) Verify its valid with the "Data to be imported:" section and then click on "Import". 5) Error message shows in red below the "Data to be imported:" section with the above message. [Bug 1587699] [NEW] Screen blank/black after splash screen
Public bug reported: It seems whenever I try to run `prime-select nvidia` I get a blank screen after the splash screen. When I am running under `prime-select intel` - I have no problems. I triple boot, two of them being Ubuntu (one for testing one for every day use), and the problem seems to lie only on the every day use one. Both have 16.04 (except the main one got upgraded from 14.04, and the testing one from 15.10). Both have the same version of nvidia (`nvidia-361`). Both seem to have the same configuration. Yet the one I want it to work on does not work. I am more than happy to provide any logs needed of both installs to help diagnose. From what I have seen so far, /etc/X11/xorg.conf are identical on both. 1) $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release:16.04 2) $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy nvidia-361 nvidia-361: Installed: 361.42-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 361.42-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 361.42-0ubuntu2 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/restricted amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) I expected to be able to see the lightdm screen after running in nvidia mode (prime-select nvidia). 4) I see nothing on the screen, but I hear the Ubuntu boot sound notifying me that the login screen is there. Also, if I type my password in I can hear my hard drive spin up and the LED blink - telling me that clearly something is happening. I can also confirm the workaround fix mention by post Valentin Quequet on post #7 that logging out and logging back in fixes this bug - but when you start from a clean boot, the menu items and ALT-TAB bar do not track the applications you have open. [Bug 1082411] [NEW] brasero can not eject medium and process is still running
Public bug reported: There appears to be a bug where-by brasero is unable to eject when it finishes burning. So I do as it says, and eject manually. I then proceed to click finish. [Bug 907284] [NEW] [Realtek ALC892] pactl stat failed to find default card
Public bug reported: I have no sound at all. Doing the following makes sound work... however I have no control over the sound volumes per applications (except the overall sound using alsamixer - which is a pain): killall pulseaudio pulseaudio --kill alsa force-reload After doing those, sound works! So clearly there isn't any issues with alsa, problem seems to exist in pulseaudio somehow... yet it was working perfectly fine a few months ago. I recently downgraded to 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21 because I thought 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu21.1 was what caused the issues... but still no joy. Any ideas? [Bug 826059] Re: unity gets stuck in 'expose' mode when you drag an icon over a launcher icon and hold it there
IIRC, Oneiric Ocelot (11.10) has just disabled Drag Drop for the unity bar... this does not mean that its been fixed, it just means that the bug won't happen because it was disabled. Surely being able to Drag Drop things into application icons should allow you to open them up with that application, this is a feature I'm sure many have gotten use to with any operating system. Alternatively, it should allow the application to bring focus to itself to allow you to drag to that application. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/826059 Title: unity gets stuck in 'expose' mode when you drag an icon over a launcher icon and hold it there To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/826059/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 778896] [NEW] Epson DX-5050 setfacl not working properly for saned

It seems setfacl isn't being done properly using the rules found /lib/udev/rules.d/40libsane.rules, despite my scanner already being in there by default.
