[Bug 220511] Re: Graphical glitch in resource tab
I've always had nVidia graphics (GeForce2 Go in my laptop, 7100GS in my desktop; the integrated graphics are nv, too), so at least it was present on some nVidia hardware. I can't reproduce it now, though. I'm currently running Fedora 15 with gnome-system-monitor version 3.0.0, kernel 2.6.40.4 and the nouveau driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220511 Title: Graphical glitch in resource tab To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-system-monitor/+bug/220511/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 684597] Re: USB devices fail to initialize/start when iphone plugged in
Fabio Marconi, I'm pretty sure it was charging; that wasn't the issue. The issue was that it was preventing other usb peripheral devices from working. I've recently reinstalled, and I'm running Maverick now. The iPhone does not prevent other devices from working on Maverick. lsusb lists it as follows: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05ac:1292 Apple, Inc. iPhone 3G -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684597 Title: USB devices fail to initialize/start when iphone plugged in -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 684597] Re: USB devices fail to initialize/start when iphone plugged in
This time, though, I installed a command-line system (lucid), then installed the packages necessary for a graphical desktop (all of the packages required by xubuntu-desktop, and some of the recommended ones), then upgraded to Maverick. There shouldn't have been any changes from that which could cause the iPhone to magically play nicely, though. In a while, I'll convert my root to a btrfs volume and upgrade to Natty in a snapshot to see if I can reproduce the bug again. I'll try not to nuke my /boot this time (what caused me to reinstall; was trying to chroot install fedora and accidentally did rm -r while /boot and /home was bind mounted). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684597 Title: USB devices fail to initialize/start when iphone plugged in -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 130979] Re: vbetool 100% cpu usage on resume
Dimitrios Symeonidis, I am currently unable to suspend at all, so I can't really confirm at this point. Normal suspend just blanks the screen, and the computer never goes into suspend mode (fans are still blowing, the power light stays solid on instead of flashing like it usually does). I've attached the log file which appears to have been created when it suspended. It seems to indicate that suspend was successful, but no amount of key presses brings it back, and pressing the power button doesn't do anything(except turn it off, if you hold it). Pressing alt+SysRq+B reboots the computer, so apparently the kernel is still functional. My bios has an option to choose S1, S3, or both for suspend; I'm not sure which I should choose. I tried uswsusp's s2ram again, and that got further if I did `s2ram -f --acpi_sleep 1` with the bios set to S3, but that would hang on resume with the power light still flashing and the kernel unresponsive. I'll try modifying the file and attempting suspend again, and see if that works. ** Attachment added: suspend log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/26488142/pm-suspend.log -- vbetool 100% cpu usage on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 363227] Re: throbber not visible, epiphany-browser
Well, it doesn't necessarily have to. I just thought it seemed odd that there was a separator there when there's nothing to separate, so I thought it was a bug (i.e.: something was missing, or it shouldn't be there). Of course, it didn't cross my mind that it might have supposed to not be there until you replied, but it does make sense. Personally, I see no need for a separator there. If someone wants one, they can add it. Otherwise, it just doesn't belong. The circular loading (or busy) throbber is visible when a page is loading, though. See attached screenshot. Notice the blank space on the right. Ignore the tooltip (it's difficult doing a selection screenshot in GIMP before a page finishes loading. ;-) ) Seems similar to Debian Bug #420412 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420412 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/epiphany-gecko NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: epiphany-gecko 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: epiphany-browser Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic x86_64 ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- throbber not visible, epiphany-browser https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 353311] [NEW] smuxi leaves window list when minimized and notification icon enabled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: smuxi What is expected: When minimized, smuxi remains in the task-bar. There is an option to choose when it is shown in the notification area, and an option to choose whether it is removed from the task-bar on minimize or not. What happens: When minimized, smuxi disappears from the task-bar and goes into the notification area. There appears to be no option to change this behavior; only an option to change whether the icon displays in the notification area when minimized. Enabling notification on minimize (unexpectedly) removes the application from the task-bar also when minimized. [Bug 155248] Re: [Wishlist] Add pause feature to dist-upgrade
Thanks, and I'm sorry about that; I guess it appeared to be the correct place at the time. bug #217936 is indeed similar, but not the same. That bug is a request for a way to delay the upgrade until a later time, *before* it even starts. This bug (155248) is a request for a way to pause or otherwise stop the upgrade and be able to continue without having to download the various files required in order to do a dist-upgrade over again. The feature would allow people who have a bad connection to pause the upgrade until they can reconnect to the network or give their router time to recover (cool down). Thanks again, and I hope that clears up your question. [Bug 192012] Re: Firefox meta and language-support-en conflict
At the time, that source package would not be correct because it was the firefox (meta)package that lists mozilla-firefox-locale-en-gb 2.0.0.7+1-0ubuntu2 as a conflict. That, and in the description of the firefox package, it says, This is a meta package that will point to the latest firefox package in ubuntu. Don't remove this if you want to receive automatic major version upgrades for this package in the future. (Currently firefox-3, right?) The bug(apparently it's not, but it was a problem that needed to be addressed at the time by a package maintainer) was in the dependencies of either the firefox (meta)package, not the firefox-3 package, or the language-support-en (meta)package. The problem being either language support or the firefox (meta)package would have to be removed(which is not recommended in the description quoted above). But I guess it doesn't really matter anymore, since it has resolved itself somehow. -- Firefox meta and language-support-en conflict https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192012 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197130] Re: [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt
That's fair enough, I guess. ^.^ Ah, I didn't notice it stopped there... Of course I wasn't really looking for the GLX extension, but if I had looked harder, I'm sure I would have noticed everything after it that was missing(Don't know how I missed that in the first place). So it seems it is the same thing... I wonder if it would continue if I disabled the GLX extension in my Xorg.conf file... It wouldn't prove much, but I guess I'll give it a go. ;) -- [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197130] Re: [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt
@exactt: Nope, it's not falling back to anything for us. We don't get any picture. The screen remains black (It's still transmitting a signal though, because my monitor doesn't say No signal) and the only way to escape is by either manually cycling the system's power, or sending a SysRq (SysRq + B reboots... It doesn't unmount anything before, so I don't know if it's much safer, but it's got to be better than pulling out the power from under your system, right?). Anyway, not a duplicate. Also note: If you set the driver to the nv(not nvidia) driver, it will fall back to vesa if there are any problems; otherwise it will work correctly. -- [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Neither bugs you've marked as duplicates seem to actually be duplicates. In Bug #206207 you can restart by pressing ctrl+backspace and ctrl+alt+del. So, unless you retract your statement that it is impossible to restart that way, it is either a different bug or you are mistaken. In Bug # 205927 Xorg actually crashes, which is not the behavior you are describing here(Here, Xorg is hanging, which, technically, is not a crash). I can, however, confirm that this bug does occur. Well, it's not a notebook. ^.^ The motherboard is a Biostar GeForce 6100 AM2. As shown above, I'm using a 64-bit Processor and the 64-bit version of Ubuntu. It is completely possible that other people experience this as well, but don't know because they have a single core processor and the computer locks up because vbetool is using all of it. I'm using the latest nVidia drivers installed through Envy, because I had trouble installing them any other way, if that may have anything to do with it. My video card is an nVidia GeForce 7100 GS. If you need any more information I'll be glad to provide it. I had also noticed that the x40 notebooks had a similar problem(I was searching the bugs to look for others who might have the same problem.) but it wasn't exactly the same and since I didn't have a thinkpad(Or notebook, for that matter) I thought it would be better to file a new bug. -- vbetool 100% cpu usage on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, it's not working at all anymore... Probably some file I edited and forgot about. I'm going to try reinstalling Ubuntu and see if it works on a fresh install, vbetool acts up, or it doesn't work at all. As for what it's doing now: When I resume the power light blinks for a little while, turns solid for a few seconds, then starts blinking again and doesn't stop after. Anyway, I have most of the stuff I want to keep on a separate partition so I don't have to worry about that being removed(Would like a separate drive for backup though.) and I can open synaptic and get a list of installed packages so I don't have to worry about that either. ^.^ I'll reinstall, check suspend before installing anything extra, then get situated... I'll probably check suspend in the Live CD as well, but since it has outdated packages it won't be a complete give-away. Even with uswsusp suspend (Using s2ram) still isn't working for me. I'm really stumped about why it won't work now... Seems my solution has hit a snag... It does work correctly but after shutting down and restarting the laptop it sets the range of the processor to 667 MHz to 667 MHz. I've followed a guide on this page http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#CPU. Unfortunately it involves removing powernowd. But I believe that removing it isn't necessary(Isn't there a script that powernowd runs which controls what modules are loaded?). It seems to be working(There aren't any more errors coming from cpufreq and according to the scaling monitor it is scaling down when there isn't a need for all the power). I believe the key is loading the extra modules for each setting(Which I think is often left out) rather than just loading the acpi-cpufreq module. Anyway, if someone else could confirm this it would be nice. It doesn't seem to matter how long I wait, but if you wish I can leave it over night and see what happens. ^.^ Attached output of: 'cat /proc/cpuinfo', 'dmidecode', 'cat /proc/ioports'. ** Attachment added: Command outputs, text file. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8256288/outputs -- Incorrect module loaded on Pentium III Mobile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 24353] Re: Incorrect module loaded on Pentium III Mobile
Also, I forgot to add. I'm also running an Inspiron 8100 laptop. It seems to be running fine with the speedstep-smi module loaded, but it's a little slow(No pauses, but the actual speed is down. This is after installing cpufreqd/removing powernowd, then removing cpufreqd/installing powernowd. I had wanted to see if the other worked better. It didn't. x.x). I'm going to reboot my laptop and see if the speed improves a little since I've done this. What would I need to do in order to load the speedstep-smi module at boot? I want to see if it is actually working with that module of if this is just a fluke. ^.^ -- Incorrect module loaded on Pentium III Mobile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Nope, speedstep-smi doesn't work correctly. Still throws the 'cpufreq: change failed with new_state 1 and result 0' error. -- Incorrect module loaded on Pentium III Mobile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
