[Bug 509782] [NEW] pulseaudio resume(pm) fails for nis-user
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Hi, I am using NIS (aka: YP) When I resume after hibernating to RAM, I cannot play any sound. I checked the script /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio The problem seems to be, that the sudo-commands in the resume-function needs an home-directory, but because of NIS, I think, it cannot be identified at this point of resume. The error of the sudo-command is: do_ypcall: clnt_call: RPC: Unable to send; errno = Network is unreachable YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound do_ypcall: clnt_call: RPC: Unable to send; errno = Network is unreachable YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound do_ypcall: clnt_call: RPC: Unable to send; errno = Network is unreachable YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound A workaround is to execute pulseaudio -k for the user is logged in after resume is completed, so I changed the above mentioned script and add killall pulseaudio at the end of the resume-function, but that is not very nice, also I have to un-mute after resume. ;) I try to change the order of the scripts (in /usr/lib/pm- utils/sleep.d/), but this does not work. I would be glad for any working solution. Thanks in advance! [Bug 499963] [NEW] mountall does not wait for completion of cryptdisks-enabled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mountall I am using cryptsetup to encrypt the filesystems '/var', '/home' and some more using LUKS. I am using a keyfile (on the unencrypted root-filesystem) to decrypt and open the LUKS-devices. But mountall does not wait for cryptdisks-enabled to be completed. Instead it opens a maintenance-shell. In this maintenance-shell, I just have to wait for some seconds and then press Ctrl-D to continue to sucessfully complete the boot-process. So, I think mountall is not patient enough. ;) If I remove stop on rcS from the file /etc/init/mountall.conf, I repeatedly get some warnings in cause of the 'unavailable' filesystems, but after that, everything works fine. (So, that is my current work- around.) (The above mentioned example slightly differs from my real architecture, cause a keyfile on an unencrypted root-filesystem makes no sense at all. Of course, I have tested the described behaviour using a setup as mentioned.) [Bug 365597] Re: Impossible to change desktop theme
I believe that that module (Desktop theme details) is to edit the contents of each desktop theme, not to set your desktop theme. So the apply button will only become active if you change one of the details of a theme. Indeed, testing that, if you change something and click apply, it doesn't apply the change to your desktop, it creates an extra customised theme. I agree that this is not really intuitive. To change your desktop theme, right click on your desktop, or click on the cashew in the top right, and select Appearance settings. Then you can choose a desktop theme to apply from the relevant dropdown. The 'Get Hot New Stuff' system for installing new desktop themes works separately: when you click install, the theme will be installed, with no need to click apply. ** Changed in: kubuntu-kde4-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Impossible to change desktop theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 223274] Re: Widgets are in square box of background colour
Well, gtk-qt-engine, which this bug is about, does precisely that. The trouble is that it doesn't work very well, especially for Firefox. I don't agree that QtCurve is a hacky solution: it merely provides a GTK theme that doesn't look out of place among Qt applications. I can't see most people worrying that not every app looks exactly the same. And if they do, they can use kde-style-qtcurve as well. I believe this is the homepage for the project, if you want to get involved with it: http://code.google.com/p/gtk-qt-engine/ I guess it's marked as low priority here because the default for Jaunty seems to have been switched to Qtcurve (at least, it switched for me during upgrade), so people won't see it unless they specifically set it to use gtk-qt-engine. -- Widgets are in square box of background colour https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk-qt-engine in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 359491] Re: Not possible to configure IP manually in kubuntu Jaunty
I saw the same thing. I think it runs in prefix format, according to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/293749/+viewstatus In short, 24 is the equivalent of 255.255.255.0. I can confirm that it will store the number 24. The general usability of setting up for a static IP address is naff: for example, when you click add, the first screen is about MAC address and MTU size, both of which 99% of users will never want to change. You enter IP addresses in a list, although you generally only need one, while DNS servers, where it's common practice to have two, are in a single textbox, and you are left to work out for yourself that a comma- separated list is expected. I suggest we generalise this bug to be about all of this rather rough UI. -- Not possible to configure IP manually in kubuntu Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Would it be accurate to suggest that kcm_knetworkconfmodule is due to be dropped, as networkmanager 0.7 now seems able to do much of the configuration that knetworkconfmodule once did? Re: [Bug 15372] Re: Huge hard drive activity after resuming from S3 suspend on a IBM x31
That didn't work, unfortunately--apparently there wasn't a .service file providing that name to dbus. I did, however, try with sudo /etc/acpi/sleep.sh, and I could replicate the behaviour (or at least, something that looked the same). This time, I noticed an error in the terminal about Hardware clock contains an invalid time, cannot set system clock from it. (searching on google suggests this is not a common error, assuming I remembered it correctly). On rebooting into Windows, I found that I was in 2044. I may not have mentioned it, but last time I had a similar issue that left me in 1908. All I need now is a Delorian. I guess that the hardware clock goes wrong somewhere (whether this is a hardware problem or something in the sleep routine, I don't know), Linux rejects that as being clearly silly, but Windows accepts it and copies it to the system time (Linux then accepted 1908 after rebooting from Windows, but I set 2044 back in Windows before rebooting). I hope that the clock thing is peripheral to the thrashing issue, however. Of course, I'd forgotten that Windows IFS drivers can't mount a dirty ext3 filesystem, but happily I have a memory stick with DSL lying around. I've attached /var/log/dmesg from when I did a hard restart during the thrashing. I made a copy of the whole of /var/log/, so if you need any more information from that, please let me know. ** Attachment added: dmesg http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21213970/dmesg -- Huge hard drive activity after resuming from S3 suspend on a IBM x31 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/15372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 257408] Re: CSS works improperly
I'd guess that that's a problem with the website, rather than with Firefox. It will only have been designed to be viewed at it's proper size. When you're zooming into the page, it's zooming into the whole page, so it stays in proportion--if you set zoom text only to on, it will go funny again. The issue with the small fonts does sound like a problem, though. Is that only in Firefox, or in other programs? What default font size is set in Firefox (mine is 16). Nope, I see more or less what you see in Windows. The only method I've found to replicate that problem is the one I described above, and then I can resolve it either by resetting the zoom (Ctrl+0), or by unselecting Zoom text only. I notice that, in your Ubuntu screenshot, the page is rendered in a serif font, whereas on my computer (and on Windows, for you), it's rendered in a sans-serif font. [Bug 257408] Re: CSS works improperly
I initially thought this was 'works for me', but I've found out how to reproduce it: -From view, zoom, ensure that Zoom text only is checked -Zoom in to page (Ctrl++ or Ctrl+MouseWheelUp) -Scroll down I suspect a lot of pages go a bit funny if you enlarge the text. While we can probably argue backwards and forwards about whether it's a bug in Firefox, a mistake in the CSS, or just a casualty of war, I'd suggest that in the meantime, you either view the page at it's native size (Ctrl+0 (that's a numeric zero)), or use Firefox's default zoom mode to scale in on the whole page (View, Zoom, ensure Zoom text only is *un*checked).
