User is member of lp group so you will be able to use the BluetoothManager GUI. However, you will not have permissions to use the NetworkManager GUI applet. I'd rather you didn't, as it is likely to add options to the ifcfg files which have not been tested with, and might break the web-gui configuration of the network interfaces, so I'm loathe to tell anyone what they need to do to make this work, as the last thing I want to do is start chasing rainbows and wasting time supporting things I have not tested. Advanced users will figure this out in 2 mins, but then they should also be advanced enough to fix and problems that arise themselves. JackOfAll wrote: The web-gui is talking about the on-board sgtl5000 audio interface, and only the sgtl5000 audio interface! You should not normally need to set that alsa params value. It shouldn't need to be explicitly set. There has to a reason to want to force specific values. There is with the sgtl5000. Not forcing it to 16 bit results in distorted audio! And the web gui makes it clear. Please be aware that once this value has been set and saved, it will remain if you change the selected Audio Device. So if you choose another device which is 24 bit capable, before saving, remember to delete the contents of the Alsa Params field. I was just worried that connecting another Audio Device after having used the internal sgtl5000 it would also be forced to 16-bit. That's the way I understood the part you quoted. bakker_be's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30369 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98544 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Sure, but that's the whole point of the note, telling you that if you change the audio device (from the default sgtl5000) and it is capable of 16 bit without issue, or maybe it is a USB device which has to be opened at 32 bit and 32 bit ONLY or you won't get to hear any audio at all, remember to delete the '40::16:' alsa params which are a workaround for the default audio device, not working correctly when opened at 16 bit. ;) JackOfAll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3069 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98544 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Can you confirm the logic: 1) When hidden ESSID is configured the line SCAN_SSID=1 is needed before the line ESSID=X 2) When changing to non configured ESSID or a non hidden one then the line SCAN_SSID=1 line should be removed I manually edited the ifcfg-wlan0 file that resides in etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. Without the SCAN_SSID it did connect to non hidden SSIDs but not to hidden ESSIDs. Once I got it to connect to a hidden SSID I havent checked non hidden SSIDs. But I assume that the SCAN_SSID parameter should not interfere with non hidden SSIDs. Pascal Hibon wrote: But I assume that the SCAN_SSID parameter should not interfere with non hidden SSIDs. It doesn't, but the man page says . but beware that this scheme can cause scanning to take longer to complete. So I am not setting SCAN_SSID=1 unless a user defined SSID is entered and won't put it back into the properties file if an ESSID found by scanning is chosen. I finally managed to find the time to correct my mess withe the USB-stick mounted as cache, and the results are simply amazing. You might remember I posted the scan results in the previous thread: a bit over 11 hours for just shy of 7 tracks in standard configuration. Now it has scanned the same library in just under 2 hours! bakker_be's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30369 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98544 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Anyway, I've now got vortexbox up and running and it's fantastic! Don't know why I didn't just go for it in the first place - it's the proper solution for what I was after. I've even done a little bit of fiddling in the terminal to set bits up (mostly to attach a USB drive).
