PublicViewer means, public appointments are viewable per default. Your
change would make private appointments viewable per default for every
newly created calendar.

For a better understanding of these options log in SOGo and right click
on your personal calendar, choose user rights and double click on,
e.g., authorized users. There you'll see private, confidential and
public. The second part of the possible strings for
SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles can be found in the drop down menu.

Now make an appointment in your calendar. At the top of the newly opened
window chose Privacy, there you can choose whether it will be a
public, confidential or private appointment.

If I am correct, these options, like PublicViewer, define the
preferences for everyone, authorized users and the public, who want to
have access to the calendar. If that's so, I suggest to just delete the
whole key and tell every new user to set the preferences for authorized
users for their private and confidential appointments to DAndTViewer
on their own. And their public appointments to Viewer, too.

What are your experience and your advice.
There is no way you can delete the addressbook that was created (due to
a bug in Thunderbird). So either you should rename it to public in
your SOGo configuration, which will have no impact whatsoever to the
rest of SOGo, or you should both adapt the urlid in sogo-integrator's
site.js and remove the public carddav entry from the thunderbird
preferences on all your client workstations.

I'd rather go with the first solution as it will take far less time.

If for another application you still need the id to be users, nothing
prevents you from duplicating the addressbook id. However it will appear
twice in the web interface.

Yes, I know that. Just tried to show you the link between the options

You can not delete authorized users and public users. If you want to
set every option for authorized users and public users to none by

This will definetly change the behavior for NEW calendars. I don't know

Basically I am wondering if this is still in the works. Since we are a

No, that is not true, you can very well use caldav and cardav for this,

We use these android clients with very good results

For iOS we use the native cal/cardav functionality too.

	The problems with activesync are:
	- The different ActiveSync clients behave differently
	- The zPush support is working only partially (Also with other backends)
	- Caldav and Cardav are the native protocols of Sogo, so all
extensions (zPush, Funambol) add another layer with potentially problems
	in it

My recommendation is to use email via activesync (if your fw admin is

Thanks for that. What I meant by having to use ActiveSync was for a single interface. Plus if our users have to pay for a CalDAV client AND an email client (android and blackberry) they wouldnt like it. That is why I was looking for a single user interface if possible.

Everything looks to be good with the above CalDAV so I will try it. However I wish I could get to the bottom of the email issues using Bo Simmons modified z-push ActiveSync addon on android. Apple devices work fine on the inbox only, no sub folders. I have tried emailing him to no avail. On the built in exchange client it will pull my inbox just fine, no sub folders though. When I send an email from the phone it garbles the body like this:

 -fzIb݊جi^AH==

Also when I send an email like that it wont show the body of the message in the web interface of SOGo but will in thunderbird. And the Touchdown client keeps not pulling all the messages but is able to send email. I would rather be able to use the built in client so users wont have to purchase another piece of software that in the end drains the battery faster than normal.

Any insight on that? Does anyone have mobile email working on android using an ActiveSync style connection?

I have modified some stuff so it may be better if I just tar up my version and send to you. Just let me know either way. If you could look at it that would be great!

I understand the advantages of the caldav/cardav now. And now that I know a single interface will not work on android for now I am ok with that. Just if I can use the stock email client that would be great.

 Hi all

I am quite happy with http://dmfs.org/carddav/ and
http://dmfs.org/caldav/. The developer is actively improving both
clients and provides new releases with new features nearly every week.
He is answering mails and trying to help out for me that is woth two
bucks, escpecially if the developer is going to make it open source
 later on.

 Cheers

Re: [SOGo] Task Sync

2011-11-15 Thread Stefan Klatt
Hi Christian,

 CardDav, CalDav, TaskDav ?
 Definitely CalDav.
That's for managing events/appointments and tasks.
But I found no client for android:-(
At the moment I use CalDAV Sync beta from dmfs.

Re: [SOGo] Android status?

2011-11-15 Thread Simon Veit

Hello Heiner,

I'm using both apps (bought them via androidpit.de). Syncing multiple
calendars (two-way) works like a charm, just import calendars from other
users in the webinterface and you will be able to sync them on your
mobile. I'm using four calendars (personal/work on my own account and
personal/kids on my gf's account) and sync/edit/create/view them on my
HTC Vision running on CM7.1.

Syncing contacts also works without any hassle.

I noticed some little glitch when changing times for a series of
calendar-entries, but I think this happened when changing them in TB8
with lightning 1.0 on the same SOGo installation.

Hi,

is it possible to sync multiple calendars and address books with android with
these apps?
Can I choose which calendars/address books shall be synced?
Will the reminders of all calendars be active on the mobile, or is it possible
to select which calendars reminders shall be activated?

I do not [yet] have an android device, so I cannot test myself, but I am very
interested in these questions - I am still searching for a mobile that fulfills
all my requirements...

Thank you and best regards

  Hi all,

I've very strange problem with SOGo and perdition (perdition is
  imap/pop-proxy).

Quick question: What does perdition buy you versus not having it?

At this moment nothing (that's why it's not a urgent problem), but in
sometime the purpose of perdition is to «virtualizing» the storage of the
mail.

Suppose you have to build a mail system for 5000 users with 2 Go for each
persons, but you knwon in one-two year it's 10 Go. You can buy a huge servers
now for 50-60To but it's very expensive (lot more than two years) or you
can buy a smaller server today 10To. But what you going to do in 1 year ? Are
you going to just put in trash your 10To ? I'm not.

With perdition (or any imap proxy) you can create a map (according what you
want) to redirect the imap connection to the right server.

For example :

if the name match ^[a-i]* go to old server
if the name match ^[j-z]* go to second new server.
etc...

or

if the user is student go to old server
if the user is staff go to the new server

Meaning you can more easily manage you mail storage.

Don't known if I answer you question.

Regards.

Re: Re: Re: [SOGo] CalDAV on iOS 5 and new 1.3.9 installation

2011-11-15 Thread Nathan Wilkes
BTW, I am following the vhost apache setup as detailed on page 42/43 of the
admin guide on port 443 (and 8443).

It turns out that this was my problem: I was using the wrong apache setup.
Once I changed this to match the stock SOGo.conf settings everything worked
fine on iPhone (iOS5.x).

Also, the OPTIONS 401 I kept seeing in the logs -- I still get these, and
turning on the extra logging simply shows that anonymous access fails first but
the next try using authentication succeeds. There doesn't seem to be any
impact of this that I can see so far.

Thanks for the help all.

[SOGo] Ubuntu 11.04, SOGo 1.3.9 and OpenLDAP 2.3

2011-11-15 Thread marcel.blom
Dear reader,

I have a problem which I can not fix at the moment.

1) I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit server. This Ubuntu version is
supported by SOGo 1.3.9
2) The documentation of SOGo 1.3.9 says: use OpenLDAP 2.3 or later.
But within Ubuntu 11.04 there is OpenLDAP 2.2.
3) The other requirement components are no problem.
4) On the Internet I only found that OpenLDAP 2.3 is experimental within
Ubuntu.

Question:
?: Who can advise me the use of OpenLDAP 2.3 or a replacement which is
available within Ubuntu 11.04?

Kind regards,

Marcel Blom
