[SOGo] we-rm did not find locale for language: gsw (swiss german)

2023-05-02 Thread "Peter Beck"

Hi guys,

I'tried to resync an iPhone because the user was telling me his calendar is
missing.
When checking the logfile there are lots of these errormessages about missing
swiss german locale (approx each second an entry!).
May 02 13:17:00 sogod [3033708]: 217.xx.yy.zz  "POST

May 02 13:17:01 sogod [3033708]: [ERROR] [we-rm] did not find locale for
language: gsw
is this a serverside issue or an issue on the users iPhone ?

Never seen this before, thanks for any hint

[SOGo] SOGo 5.7.1: unable to write tasks for other users

2022-08-26 Thread "Peter Beck"

Hi there,

since upgrading to SOGo 5.7.1 we are unable to write tasks for other users. It
was working fine with 5.7.0, but in 5.7.1 users can select their own calendar
and no other. Writing calendar entries seems to work, but afaik a user could
change the calender in the list, which seems disappeared in the current release
(tested with 20220822 and 20220826 nightly).

Is this a configuration issue on my side or is it a bug ?

Thanks in advance

[SOGo] "Not yet deceided" mails when sending appointments

2022-04-29 Thread "Peter Beck"

Hi there,

When sending an invitation to someone, users receive suddenly a message, that
the user did not yet deceide.
This is a bit confusing for users. Is there an option to stop sending such
mails ?

I can't remember getting such mails in the past. Was this introduced with an
update lately ?

[SOGo] Policies automatic update for connector extension

2021-09-12 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

I am using Thunderbird policies to install sogo connector and some other
addons.

The connector is linked to my webserver and installs perfectly. But
when updating the extension to a newer version (by placing a newer file on the
webserver)
it won't update in Thunderbird.

Addons installed from addons.thunderbird.net are updated without issues.

my policies.json:

can I point App.update.url to multiple urls (my own server and
thunderbird addons) ?

Or how can I ensure that Thunderbird always installes the sogo-addon
referenced in policies.json and not just installs the extension once ?

Thanks in advance

[SOGo] ActiveSync Loose Provisioning

2018-07-15 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

Trying to connect a Nokia 8110-G4 via ActiveSync. The device comes with
KaiOS (closed source Firefox-OS-Fork). There is not much logging
available (EASDebug is enabled):

>Jul 15 22:15:13 sogod [8500]: (null) env=REMOTE_HOST "OPTIONS
/SOGo/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync HTTP/1.1" 200 0/0 0.060 - - 0

HTTP/1.1" 501 218/13 0.002 - - 0

no further logging. When trying to connect an Z-Push-Account it also
fails, but Z-Push has an option for "loose provisioning" for older
devices (https://wiki.zarafa.com/index.php/Z-Push_Provisioning). When
enabling this option, the Z-Push-Account syncs fine.

Is there any equivalent option (or a workaround) for SOGo available ?

In my opinion this is quite harsh - you get something for free and
you're complaining about the documentation ? There are lot's other
projects out there with much worse (or no) documentation.

I don't think the documentation is a mess. I think it's quite straight
forward and clear. And there are lot's of other tutorials how to set up
SOGo and you can always ask here on the list - very helpful guys here.

Of course they want customers to sell support - it's how they pay their
lives. Or do you work for nothing ?

By the way:
I would reconsider the use of openchange as it seems stopped for now
(see other thread here on the list
https://lists.inverse.ca/sogo/arc/users/2016-03/msg00299.html). Starting
a new system depending on an (at least it sounds to me) abandoned
project - I wouldn't do that, but that's my opinion.

[SOGo] Dovecot ACLs with ldap groups

2015-11-22 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

This question is not SOGo-related, but as (I think at least) many others
are using this scenario, maybe someone can enlighten me ;-)
Couldn't find a solution for that (or am unsure if they are 'the way to
do'...).

I am running some SOGo servers, Dovecot and Postfix (with LDAP (Samba4)
backend). Postfix is using queries to check users and group membership
(to finally deliver to each mail of the members), Dovecot also checks
Samba4 for users in dovecot-ldap.conf, which is working fine - no issues
with that.

There are different domains which are not visible to each other
(SOGDomainVisibilty).

short version:
is it possible to set dovecot-acl to ldap groups (even better to the
mail-address of these groups) instead of adding each user separately ?

long version:
Dovecot of course does not know that these domains are "independent" and
a dovecot-acl with "authenticated" will of course show that folder on
each domain, which is not intended.

Now i'd like to add _imap acls for ldap groups_ (instead of adding each
user separately) but don't know how to implement. Is that something to
add to dovecot-ldap.conf (getting the users of a group) or a
postlogin-script or something similar?

something like groupname oder group-mailaddress in dovecot-acl:

> ldap-group ilprs
or
> ldapgr...@domain.com ilprs

Anyone else with a solution ?
If not I am going to ask in the dovecot mailinglists, but maybe anyone
else has a good solution and is willing to share...

Thanks in advance

[SOGo] EAS: no contacts synchronized

2015-10-19 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

I'm having again issue with some ActiveSync devices (mobiles, no
Outlook): there are no contacts synchronized. Mails and Calendars seem
to work fine. Also contacts were working earlier, but not anymore.

It does not seem to affect all users (my Android device seems to work,
even after removing /re-adding the EAS account), but some others told me
that there are no contacts on their devices.

When disabling/re-enabling contact sync (or do a
resetfolder/resetdevice) , I can see entries like that below.
Seems to me like it would be ok. But on the device nothing shows up.

Hey Sascha,

But still got a user with an subfolder containg about 5000 messages, it

then it disconnects againbut that mailbox is bigger than 5GB...

this shouldn't happen, I already can hear them screaming if they finally
find out two weeks later that they've missed some messages...
By the way: I've just deleted one of these ost-files on one of the
clients. Now Outlook creates new folders (Drafts (only this computer),
Trash[1], Sent[1]). Oh god how I hate this piece of software!!

Did not know this also happens with IMAP. Mail would be such a great
thing to work on - without Outlook. This is the most market-manipulating
thing...life would be much better without that piece of crap
designed to work with Exchange only, everything else is (intentionally)
poorly supported...

Thanks again

Hi Thomas,

(replying back to the list)

I could not find any exception but lots of messages complaining about
encoding in the logs. Sometimes Outlook shows "disconnected", but in the
sogo.log i still can see ActiveSync entries from this user a while.

I "played" with SOGoMaximumSyncResponseSize - 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 or
even 6144 but none of them solved that issue. My "feeling" was, that 2MB
had the best results from all of them. But then - how does that interact
with all the other parameters ? That is a bit confusing for me. Just
tried to set SOGoMaximumSyncResponseSize to 2048 (and another time to
4096) and commented everything else regarding ActiveSync I've added to
sogo.conf - did not really help. And yes, I also tried the settings
mentioned under "EAS Tuning" in the documentation.

I' fiddling for hours just trying different combinations but none of
them seems to work for me.

Tried EASDebugEnabled, but that's lot of information and mostly it's
just xml/plain mail I can see then (lots of attachments listed in
base64). Did not really help me to find the problem - did not even know
what to look for ;-)

Sometimes outlook shows disconnected while Sogo.log still is listing
attachments in base64. When that is finished it looks like that (without
debugging it's showing just the last line):

As far as I recognized: yes. Even on the same devices it's ok when
getting the messages with IMAP (Tried in webmail, Thunderbird and
Outlook with IMAP). Tried that with two different accounts having that
issue and it was working with both of them when not using EAS.

[SOGo] Outlook EAS with mailboxes > 3GB

2015-10-10 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

I've configured some Outlook 2013 users with EAS. This works great with
smaller mailboxes, no issues (or none of the users told me ;-)

But with mailboxes > 2.5/3GB users are complaining about these issues:

* the initial sync takes "forever" (seems never to complete)
* connection very often drops after a few mails (Outlook displaying
"disconnected" and sometimes does not reconnect automatically)
* some messages are downloaded each time and are multiple times listed
in Outlook
* some attachments are "scrumbled" and listed in plaintext instead as an
attachment

Most (if not all) of these users have lots of folders and messages
inside these folders (mails from 2004 until now...)

The server is hosting about 30 mailboxes (small business), about 10 of
them are connecting with Outlook, the rest is using Thunderbird. On
mobiles active sync works as expected.

I found some advice in bug 3236 [1] and some mailinglist posts [2] but
none of these settings helped. Also tried resyncing some folders or
completely removed and reconfigured accounts with manage-eas.

Tried increasing max_line_length in dovecot from 2MB to 4MB, the timeout
in the apache virtual host is set to 3600. The worker count is set to 30.

The same accounts connected with IMAP sync very fast, no "scrumbled"
attachments.

My question now is, how do I find the optimal settings for EAS are
(MaximumSyncWindowSize, MaximumSyncResponseSize,
WOWatchDogRequestTimeout, SOGoMaximumPingInterval, etc...) ?

I've tried lots of values and nothing seemed to fix these issues. Is
that a trial-and-error solution or are there any optimal settings I can
calculate somehow ?

The server is running Debian Jessie 8.2 with SOGo 2.3.2 / Dovecot
2.2.13. It's a virtual machine with currently 4GB RAM and two
processors, average load never gets higher than 0.5...

but sogo-common is still listed as 2.2.9 - is that intended ? (using the
inverse repo)

ii  sogo:amd64   2.3.2-1
ii  sogo-activesync  2.3.2-1
ii  sogo-common  2.2.9+git20141017-1

Hopefully someone can give me advice how to solve these issues...

Best Regards
Peter

I think it depends how you connect Outlook to SOGo (Openchange, EAS, or
just IMAP). Don't know about Openchange, but with the other options I
think you'll have to add these things manually for each user.

see documentation page 15 "SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles" and
"SOGoContactsDefaultRoles" for default calendar/addressbook permissions
and page 22 "KindFieldName" and "MultiBookingsFieldName" for resources.

not as far as I know, at least without Openchange (don't know how
Openchange handles that).
You can set default permissions for addressbooks and calendars in SOGo,
but you have to add them manually in Outlook.

The official SOGo installation guide you can find under
http://www.sogo.nu/downloads/documentation.html and the SOGo Wiki-pages

Hi Christian,

I don't think SOGo is demanding LDAP, you can also use SQL for example.
(see manual page 31).
But I wouldn't try to extend an existing database with the needed tables
as if there are sql updates in newer versions of SOGo

There is another thread [1] from 2012 regarding the similar issue and
Christian Mack mentioned creating a view which collects the data from

[SOGo] ActiveSync attachments in plaintext

2015-10-07 Thread Peter Beck

Hi there,

I moved some accounts from Zarafa to SOGo / Dovecot with imapsync. In
Thunderbird and Webmail, everything is shiny.
But in Outlook 2013 some (but not all) attachments are in plaintext
listed instead as an attachment:

--=_ZG_static
content-type: image/jpeg; name="DSC05726.JPG"
content-disposition: attachment; filename="DSC05726.JPG"
content-transfer-encoding: base64
content-length: 1810898

/9j/4VFCRXhpZgAASUkqAAgLAA4BAgAgkg8BAgAFsgAAABABAgAJ

For newly received mails that issue does not happen. Seems to me like an
Outlook bug, anyone else ever seen something like that ?

my dovecot-ldap.conf has this settings, which will create the mailboxes
automatically under /var/vmail/domain/lefthandside-part.

but i think you could change that to %Lu (%u should be the mailaddress
and the "L" will convert everything to Lowercase), but never tried that.
for me it's more conveniant when each domain is separated in different
folders... you also have to ensure the settings in 10-auth.conf
(auth_username_format = %Lu) (is what I have defined - everybody has to
login with the complete mail as username).

hosts = x.x.x.x:389 x.x.x.y:389
dn = servicel...@foo.bar
dnpass = password
base = cn=Users,dc=foo,dc=bar
auth_bind = yes
pass_filter = (&(objectClass=user)(mail=%Lu))
pass_attrs = userPassword=password
user_filter = (&(ObjectClass=user)(mail=%Lu))
user_attrs =  =home=/var/vmail/%Ld/%Ln,=uid=1,=gid=1

for Dovecot I can recommend Peer Heinlein's Dovecot book (ISBN
978-3-95539-074-7)

Hope that helps...

Hi Harold,

don't know if that helps, I don't use OpenChange but also Samba 4 (just
one domain "foo.bar") and I am hosting multiple (external) domains
selected by filters like this for each domain configuration:

filter = "(objectClass='*' AND mail='*@domain1.tld' AND
userAccountControl != 66050)";

and for other domains the same just the other mail domains:

filter = "(objectClass='*' AND mail='*@domain2.tld' AND
userAccountControl != 66050)";

etc...

for postfix there is just an ldap query filtering all addresses (one
filter for users, another for group membership -
see also this thread:
https://lists.inverse.ca/sogo/arc/users/2015-09/msg00077.html)

Never tried with different baseDNs, but why not just use "mail" as
identifier in SOGo and you're good to go ? I am using mail as identifier
in Dovecot and SOGo and it just works:

domain1.tld = {
  SOGoMailDomain = domain1.tld;
  ...
  SOGoUserSources = (
{
type = ldap;
id = domain1.tld;
CNFieldName = cn;
IDFieldName = mail;
UIDFieldName = mail;
hostname = "ldap://x.x.x.x:389 ";
baseDN = "dc=foo,dc=bar";
bindFields = (mail);
filter = "(objectClass='*' AND mail='*@domain1.tld' AND
userAccountControl != 66050)";
canAuthenticate = YES;
isAddressBook = YES;
IMAPLoginFieldName = mail;
.

Hi there,

If you're using apache, maybe enabling mod-deflate will help:

this [1] could be a solution, but don't know, it's just one of the first

if I search "application/x-javascript" in my apache directory I can see
that this will be enabled with the "deflate" module..

But I don't know, it's just a wild guess... ;-)

Hi Ludovic,

just removed everything from sogo_session_folders with "delete from
sogo_sessions_folder;" and restarted memcached/sogo with
"/etc/init.d/sogo stop; /etc/init.d/memcached stop;
/etc/init.d/memcached start; /etc/init.d/sogo start"

IDField is now set for each domain:

 ...
 CNFieldName = cn;
 IDFieldName = mail;
 UIDFieldName = mail;
 ...

ldapsearch is working with the credentials defined in sogo.conf, just as
a example this search completes without errors:

ldapsearch -x -D "serviceldap@domain.local" -b
"cn=Users,dc=domain,dc=local" -W "(&(objectClass=user)(mail=*))" -h
ldap-server

but still get the same error in the logs..

But I've also updated another server (single domain, similar samba4/ldap
connection and also Debian Jessie 8.2) and on this machine there were
absolutely no issues (even IDFieldName is _not_ defined in sogo.conf)

So maybe there is some problem within my multi domain setup, this is the
only difference to the others server setup.

Each domain is defined this way, as far as I know it seems to be correct
(or isnt' it ?):

domains = {

  domain.tld = {
SOGoMailDomain = domain1.tld;
SOGoTimeZone = Europe/Vaduz;

[SOGo] Web-Login not working after upgrading to 2.3.2

2015-09-16 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

i've just updated to SOGo 2.3.2 on Debian Jessie 8.2 (Stable) and now I
am unable (with any user) to log into the web interface. Thunderbird and
EAS are still working with the same user accounts, no errors there.
I have a multi-domain setup and none of the domains (all connected to
the same samba4-dc/ldap) is able to login. I've tested differnt browsers
on different systems (Iceweasel, Firefox, Epiphany and Internet Explorer).

There are some other mailing list entries [1], but none of them could
solve my problem (neither restarting sogo/memcached) and I think my
settings are correct as they were working until the upgrade to 2.3.2

Hi Ludovic,

thanks for the fast response.

I didn't had the IDFieldName set until now and it was working.
But after adding "IDFieldName = mail;" (also tried sAMAccountName) to
each domain and restart memcached and sogo I still get the same error.

Strange to me is also that Thunderbird and EAS are working with or
without the IDFieldName set.

Any other hints ?

an other solution (it this has to be done on windows) would be
powershell with Set-ADUser cmdlets [1]

Set-ADUser -Identity UserName -Add @{otherMailbox="al...@domain.tld"}

Never tried that myself, but looks plausible...as far as I know you have
to install the active directory module (which is included and enabled by
default in RSAT) and import the module first (import-module
activedirectory) in order to use it.

by the way: ldap account manager gives you also an easy (web) interface
to manage samba4 users, the free edition is supporting it
(https://www.ldap-account-manager.org/lamcms/)

It's also in the Debian repos included (if Debian is your choice).

Hi Gary,

I'm also using aliases with Samba4. just add as much "otherMail" entries
you need to the account. I'm doing it via ldbedit:

ldbedit -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb '(sAMAccountName=username)'

then just add "otherMail: em...@alias.tld" (without quotes) and save it.

For Postfix I've added an extra query to main.cf:

virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual_aliases,
ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap_groups, ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap_users

and the corresponding ldap queries looks like that (ensure you've
installed the postfix-ldap package):

server_host = samba4-address
search_base = dc=domain,dc=local
version = 3
bind = yes
bind_dn = cn=LDAP Service,cn=users,dc=domain,dc=local
bind_pw = secretpassword
scope = sub
query_filter = (&(objectclass=user)(otherMailbox=%s))
result_attribute = mail

you can test your aliases with postmap:

postmap -q alias@foo.local ldap://etc/postfix/ldap_users

this should show you the "real"/main adress which will be used for delivery.

btw:
the group query looks similar to the user query, but with some settings:
query_filter = (&(objectclass=group)(|(mail=%s)(otherMailbox=%s)))
leaf_result_attribute = mail
special_result_attribute = member

I am using this configuration on lots of servers and it's working flawlessy.

Hope that helps a bit...

Peter

I don't like the standard utilities, so I did not know exactly where to
configure that with RSAT... ;-) I do like ldbedit because that allows me
to change samba users with vim.

But for others preferring graphical interfaces, I think LAM is worth
mentioning. Easy to use and no Windows needed, just a browser.

but just saw a typo I made - it's not otherMail in the ldbedit example,
it's otherMailbox as you correctly write...

Cheers

I think this is only visible in RSAT if you have MS-Exchange-, Zarafa-
or whatever schema extensions installed. With "plain" active directory
it's not visible. Not sure about that but it would be a plausible
option... (we were using Zarafa and with it's extensions it was visible
in RSAT).

[SOGo] Thunderbird certificate exceptions

2015-08-15 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

we are using CA-Cert certifcates for SMTP/IMAP TLS-Connections. The root
certificates are deployed in the cert8.db file, but when initially
configuring the account, user are asked to trust the smtp/imap
certificate when receiving/sending messages.

My question now is:
is it possible to deploy an exception for these certificates with the
sogo-integrator in some custom-pref.js setting ? I didn't find something
related to that... would be nice, when endusers would not have to click
confirm exception for this certificate...

I'm sure the native SOGo-way is faster than via plugins.

Re: [SOGo] Survey - Who uses SOGo (and why not exchange)

2015-07-17 Thread Peter Beck
Hi there,

we are currently using Zarafa for us and our customers for about 3 years.

In general it was running but I never was happy as there are a few
closed source parts in Zarafa. Not because of the price (it's not
expensive).
The Outlook client often has issues (mostly shared calenders not
showing) after Windows-Updates. Usually you need to wait a few days
until there is a working release available from Zarafa.
Other than that, Users usually never had an issue using Outlook as it
looked like it was connected to Exchange for them expect an additional
Zarafa tab.

There is no carddav support by default, you have to integrate it
yourself with sabre-zarafa, a plugin (not from Zarafa). The
xmpp-Implementation never really worked. It just works if the
lefthandside of your mail is also your xmpp login. The webapp is quiet
slow and (imho) ugly, as they try to rebuild Outlook in the Browser a
little bit...

The updates were usually painless and without issues, but since their
announcement about stopping the outlook client, i think the complete
quality is not the same anymore. Outlook support was the main reason we
were running Zarafa, as most of our customers use Outlook. But since
that decision, we think there are better solutions.

For me the main reasons for SOGo are:

*) if you use MAPI you don't need buggy connectors
*) multiple users from different sources (LDAP, SQL) are easy to
implement if you have to
*) a real, proven IMAP Server can be used (Zarafa has it's own,
feature-less IMAP-Server, we love Dovecot)
*) Thunderbird Plugin seem to work quiet well and can replace outlook in
my opinion
*) easy integrated backup and restore mechanisms
*) great clean webinterface with good features, but not useless things.
*) in the debian repos (mostly, if you don't need openchange)
*) completely free software but there is support from inverse if you need
*) upgrading (seems to be) easy and without issues

We think about not using openchange for these reasons:

*) you have to use the inverse samba package, so no repository package
anymore
*) openchange seems to have still issues and we believe we'll never get
happy to provide half of an exchange, so we try to convince our
customers to use something that is working ;-) (please correct me if I
am wrong)
*) keep it simple... (imap, card- and caldav is something other clients
can do as well)

What I would love to see in SOGo is an integration of Owncloud in the
Webmail, that would be nice and handy to store/attach files to messages.

this is what I've heard from others, even on this mailing list.

I am also very interested to hear from other users what exactly is
working fine and where are the bottlenecks with openchange.
Usually you have to get response from users working with a solution as
they sometimes are used to do things we've never expected as admins ;-)
