Of course, you can. You just need to change the right management so that
anonymous users don't have right to see pages.

Thanks for your answer, I was wondering if it is possible to embed that
code only in a page (since we only want to count visit on some pages,
not all over the wiki).

I'll try to embed the code in the page and see if it works, otherwise
I'll go for the skin solution.

Hi Adriano,

one suggestion that I can give you it is to use another DB, maybe MySQL

I have never used Vista, but I think it's not a good idea use Vista as
server anyway.

Hope that few cents could be useful,

 The problem is not in the attachments, but in the RCS versioning. There were
 some problems there,
 you could either upgrade the farm to a newer version, or you could try to
 clean the history for that
 document. Unfortunately, doing that from the wiki will not work because the
 archive is already
 broken, so you must do it the hard way: directly from the database. Execute
 this: (mysql syntax)

 delete from xwikircs where xwr_docid in (select xwd_id from xwikidoc where
 xwd_fullname =
 'Document.Name');

 (replace with your document's name)

Re: [xwiki-users] cookies don't work if xwiki is migrated from a TEST server to on-line

2008-04-17 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hi,

I think that's a normal behaviour that you have to login again: if you
move xwiki to another server the old cookies are not valid anymore (in
the cookie there is the information about the URL).

Have you tried to login? It should work with same username/password you
were use on the test server.

 I know that was better to instantiate a new XWiki from the beginning, but I
 was afraid to lost all configurations and settings and User I've done.

 So I've exported my DBSchema and the xwiki directori to on-line server, and I
 find that in Mozilla it works perfectly as in my TEST server, but with IE 7
 and Safari, when I login, I am redirected at the login page without any
 warning or error.

 Reading some related articles I found that this is probably a cookies problem
 due to change of host.

 Can I solve manually this issue?

 Or is there a way to export exactly all xwiki settings, user, and data, and
 recreate exacltly the environnment in another server?

 Thanks...

So the URL to access the page will be the same, even if the parent-page
has been changed.

Everyone's welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi all,

I create a page to change the parent to a chosen page using:

$mydoc.save()

It works but in the tree page I see the changed page into its original
tree location.

What is my fault ??

You can write a macro that contains the velocity script and then include

 Rights aren't inherited from the parent.

 You can either use space rights, template rights, or use some velocity
 scripts to set the rights.

Hi Mattia,

you can use some velocity to show the link only to users in a known group.

[xwiki-users] Statistics

2007-11-27 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hello everyone,

I've activated the statistics on my virtual xwikis, but when I access
the page XWiki/Stats I see the code, but not statistics, as this:

% period = request.get(period) Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
cal.setTime(new Date()); if (period==null) { period =
cal.get(Calendar.YEAR) * 100 + (cal.get(Calendar.MONTH)+1) }

jour = cal.get(Calendar.YEAR) * 1 + (cal.get(Calendar.MONTH)+1) *
100 + (cal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH)+1)

type = request.get(type) if (type==null) type = view

%

In the xwiki.cfg, this is the section related to statistics:

xwiki.stats=1
xwiki.stats.default=1
xwiki.stats.class=com.xpn.xwiki.stats.impl.XWikiStatsServiceImpl

Any help?
Thanks!

 Right now attachments are added using the attachment UI. Of course
 you could modify the comments vm file to add the same ui. What's
 important though is that the user doing the attachment has the
 permission to do so or it'll fail. Right now there's no attachment
 right AFAIK. The logic is that attaching something modifies the
 document and can even overwrites the existing attachments with new
 versions.

[xwiki-users] Logo in the printed pages

2007-10-26 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hi all,

I'm using the albatross skin: I've noticed that in the printed pages the
logo that appear on the top of the pages is the original XWiki logo,
even if I had already changed it (as explained on xwiki.org).

I've done a modification in the print.vm file, now the correct logo is
displayed. This is the section that sets the logo in my print.vm:

   div id=companylogo
 a href=$xwiki.getURL(Main.WebHome, view) title=Home
   #set($logoname = $xwiki.getSkinPreference(logo, logo.png))
   #set($logo = $!prefdoc.getAttachment($logoname))
   #if(!$logo)
 #set($logourl = $xwiki.getSkinFile($logoname))
 img src=$!logourl alt=XWiki width=200 height=70/
   #else
 #set($logourl = $prefdoc.getAttachmentURL($logo.filename,
download))
 img src=$!logourl alt=XWiki/
   #end
 /a
   /div

Hope this coudl be useful for everyone!

Hi Ricardo,

you need to call it from an user object, hence:

getUser(XWiki.UserName) to retrieve any user
  - $user.isUserInGroup(XWikiAdminGroup) ## to check if this user is

Re: [xwiki-users] Memorize objects

2007-10-18 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hi all,

here is the piece of code used to store a new object:

   ## Create a new object for this user
   #set($attendee = $doc.newObject(XWiki.AttendeeClass))
   $attendee.set(name,$usr)
   $attendee.set(answer,yes)
   ## Add a new object to the page
   # $doc.save()

Of course the XWiki.AttendeeClass class was created before.
It wasn't working at the first attempts because I was trying to create
the object with the function $Class.newObject(), I have no idea why, but
changing the creation of the object in $Document.newObject() makes
everything work fine.

Hopefully today (in my spare time) I'm going to write this information

 Checking the code it seems that this would be similar to $newdoc.save().
 Not sure why that's not working.

 Getting the internal object has 2 issues:

 1) It requires programming rights so if this page is edited and saved by
 someone without programming rights it'll fail
 2) we are planning to completely modify the internal implementation in
 the near future of xwiki so it shouldn't be used as much as possible. If
 APIs are missing in the public API then we should add it there instead.

[xwiki-users] WYSIWYG editor and velocity

2007-10-16 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hi everyone,

I wrote a page with some code in it:

SOME TEXT...
#foreach ($docum in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName(workgroups))
   #set ($name = $xwiki.split($docum,_))
   #set ($isMeeting = 0)
   #set ($i = 0)
   #foreach ($word in $name)
   #set ($i = $i+1)
 #if (($i == 1)  ($word == MT))
   #set ($isMeeting = 1)
 #elseif ($i == 2)
   #set ($date = $word)
 #elseif (($i == 3)  ((WG_+$word) == $doc.getName()))
   Meeting [$dateworkgroups.$docum] br/
 #end
   #end
#end
SOME TEXT...

If I edit the page in wiki-mode, no problem. But if I edit the page in
WYSIWYG-mode, and then save it, the code is not working anymore.
Actually the same section become:

SOME TEXT...
#foreach ($docum in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName(workgroups))
   #set ($name = $xwiki.split($docum,#95;))
   #set ($isMeeting = 0)
   #set ($i = 0)
   #foreach ($word in $name)
   #set ($i = $i+1)
 #if (($i == 1)  ($word == MT))
   #set ($isMeeting = 1)
 #elseif ($i == 2)
   #set ($date = $word)
 #elseif (($i == 3)  ((WG#95;+$word) == $doc.getName()))

   Meeting [$dateworkgroups.$docum] \\
#end
   #end
#end
SOME TEXT...

So, the character '_' is replace by '#95;'.
Any solution to this problem? Thanks!

[xwiki-users] Deleting spaces

2007-10-09 Thread Vitantonio Messa
Hi all,

I'm trying to use the delete space code snippet I found on the xwiki.org
website. I got a Null Pointer Exception when deleting pages (even if I
have administrator rights on the wiki).

If I use other function on the documents (as, rename for example) they
work fine. Here is the code for the panel:

#panelheader('Spaces')
#if($request.space)
   #if($request.confirm==1)
 #foreach($item in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName($request.space))
   $xwiki.getDocument(${request.space}.${item}).delete()
 #end
   #else
 [Confirm delete space
${request.space}$doc.fullName?space=${request.space}confirm=1]
 brList of docs that will be deleted
 #foreach($item in $xwiki.getSpaceDocsName($request.space))
   * $item
 #end
   #end
#else
   #foreach($space in $xwiki.spaces)
 $space \[[Delete$doc.fullName?space=${space}]\]br/
   #end
#end
#panelfooter()

I have also used the function checkAccess(delete), and it returns
true, so I'm sure that I have right to delete the document.

Any idea of what's going on? Thanks!

If you have installed the deafault xwiki XAR, there is the administrator
user. Username Admin / password admin.

 When i compare all the .war packaged software to what i am used from php
 based things (wiki, forums, cms) the most foolproof procedure is this:

   - upload the files (*.php, .war) to appfolder
   - connect to the page (http://host/appfolder)
   - when nothing was installed yet, the installer starts
   - it asks for the database connection parameters
   - it asks for an admin account (username, emails, password)
   - it then installs (creates db, tables, admin account, default files)
   - in xwiki case even an option to import the default pages from that
 xar could be added
   - done. a link to the startpage
   - now one can login with the admin account and start configuration
   - if i dont configure the application at this point no damage can be
 done by anonmyous users. so the default settings are normally a bit
 strict. but well a wiki may be more open than a cms.

 the goal should be to not have to manually edit config files, security
 params whatsoever.

 in bamboo (or was it teamcity? both java.war based installations) the
 location of the log file is configured during the installtion steps.
 everything crucial to the application.

 the side effect is: no one ever reads instructions. cause its straight

 i cleaned the database and changed from Mysql5 to the Mysql Dialect
 and
 OH see! it works! :-)
 Glad you got it working!

 yet it amazes me: mysql did change a lot of things from version 4.1 to
 5.0 (join syntax, sql strict). i was kinda expecting more detailed
 requirements on the database versions. i do a lot of work and
 installations on php based software. they all distinguish mysql
 4.0, 4.1
 and 5.0 versions. compared to mediawiki the setup takes ages. well 2
 hours compared to 20 minutes. no disaster - yet space for
 improvement :)
 Well there are 2 options when installing:

 1) User want to try quickly or is not too technical: He uses the
 standalone installation. (the zip, installer jar or exe). There's
 nothing to do, it's all setup; No container, no db to setup.

 2) User wants control on his container + DB and is technical: He
 picks the WAR AND reads the documentation.

 For 1), setup takes under a minute.
 For 2), I would say setup should take about 10 minutes max if you
 follow the documentation.

 Still I'd like to understand why it took longer for you and how
 mediawiki's setup is simpler so that we can improve the setup.

 ready for testing now.

 thanks a lot!

 Hi ossi,

 Why don't you check the Installation guide on xwiki.org? :)

 http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Installation

 You'll see that it has a section about MySQL:
 http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/InstallationMySQL

 The dialect there is different from the one you used. What's sure is
 that the issue is a Hibernate configuration issue.

 Hopefully, that should solve the trial and error issue :)

 Thanks

Re: [xwiki-users] Logo on finch skin

2007-09-19 Thread Vitantonio Messa
I replay by myself. ;-)

I called the logo simply logo.gif, attached it, and it worked.
Maybe it's just that with the finch skin, the name of the logo is
somehow fixed...

 Hi,

 I'm working on the finch skin. I'm not able to modify the logo, as I've
 done for the albatross skin.

  From the CSS I've seen that the current logo for finch is a transparent
 blanck image while there is background image that is the one actually
 showed.
 So I delete that background image from the CSS, and changed the logo as
 for albatross, but still, my logo is not showing. And more strange, the
 old logo (the background image) is showed, even if I deleted is
 referement in the CSS.

 Any idea? Thanks.
