[vdr] PCI GT610 vdpau card - 512 MB or 1GB memory ?

2013-12-08 Thread Goga777
Hello

is there any sense to buy PCI GT610 card with 1 GB memory for processing of
1080i/p HD video ?
may be 512 MB will be enough ?

I plan to use vdpau decoding of HD video + temporal spatial deinterlacing +
upscaling of SD video.

I'm seeing around 250M total memory use while decoding and deinterlacing
 1080i to a single 1080 display.
Composite extension completely disabled since all it does is cause tearing
and eat memory like crazy. If
all you need is video playback on that system then 512M is more than plenty.

@Goga: can you explain in just a few words what exactly Multiple Input

The multistream is part of dvb-s2 standard. The main idea is on ONE carrier can
exist
several independed transport streams. Each stream can exist as separated TS
stream with channels.

In general, get a gt220, as it has built in audio hardware, so that
you should get audio without clock drift relative to the hdmi output.
It is also powerfull enough to do temporal spatial deinterlacing on
 1080i material.

what do you think about

NVIDIA's GeForce GT 430
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3973/nvidias-geforce-gt-430

seems it's the best choice for vdr/htpc

- more cold than gt220
- more powerfull
- HDMI 1.4,
- 3D over HDMI
- Ethernet channel
- Audio return channel
- 4k × 2k Resolution Support

2010-10-02 Thread Goga777
I'm trying to understand cSdtFilter in order to write a channel scanner.

will it the plugin for vdr with possibility to scan dvb-s2 channels ?

Goga

I see that when it finds a SI::NVODReferenceDescriptorTag it will add it
to the previously found channel with channel-SetLinkChannels, but it
only does if it is in the current section (channel is a local variable)
while the sdt could span several sections.

  From the specifications here

 http://neuron2.net/library/mpeg2/iso13818-1.pdf

 and here

 http://www.dvb.org/technology/standards/a005r5.tm1324r13.tr101211.v1.10.1.pdf

I don't understand if this mechanism is correct, shouldn't the
 time_shifted_services link to the NVOD_reference?
Besides, I don't see that the relation between a channels and its
linkchannels is preserved in channels.conf (though I don't really care).

I also see that cSdtFilter starts processing with the first section, and
that shouldn't really be necessary as long as one processes all sections.

This setting is only useful if your display device can't scale on its own or
the scaling is worse quality. If you enable it the card will always output
 native resolution at native refresh.

If disabled the gpu will not touch the mode and output whatever you tell it
to, in which case the display itself will have to scale the mode as needed.

let's have a look on the following situation.

I have full HD TV set, which of course can upscale. TV
My xorg.conf has default mode - 1080p

can be 2 situation

With vdr and vdr-xine I'm watching SD 576i channels and after that I switch to

is there really no recommendation for a board not using Nvidia
graphics components? It would really be great to not depend on
  proprietary drivers.

Hardware decoding through VA-API is working on some Intel chipsets
and CPUs, but I haven't seen any usable GPU deinterlacing implementations
  besides those in Nvidia's VDPAU.

I also would like to remind the framerate issues. Naturally you decide what
is enough precision and quality for you.

Computer hardware usually cannot provide 50.000Hz, 59.940Hz or 23.976Hz
outputs to your TV/Monitor. This will cause some judder on display output
as MPEG/AVC input-stream is not synchronized to output framerate.

do you mean that all nvidia vdpau cards with existing drivers from Nvidia can't
provide exact 50.000Hz,
59.940Hz or 23.976Hz ??

My old HTPC motherboard died and I'm now looking for a new one to become
a vdr-sxfe thin client. The old Silverstone case is for normal ATX
board but I no more need PCI slots so a smaller one, even a Mini-ITX
would do. Since the PC runs 24/7 I'm interested in low-power
motherboards with Atom CPU. There should be VDPAU support for MPEG-2
 SDTV decoding + high-quality de-interlacing. I'm watching also sometimes
H.264 HDTV channels from satellite. There should be 1080p50 video + up
7.1ch multi-channel PCM audio over HDMI. I'd like to get rid of SPDIF
 connection to AV-receiver.

My HTPC box has a home-brew LIRC receiver that connected to motherboard
(Asus style) COM port heading. If COM ports are history I could change
to Bluetooth remote control with a PS3 Blu-Ray remote. Therefore
integrated BT support would be nice (otherwise some USB-BT dongle). WLAN
is not mandatory since I stream from vdr server over gigabit ethernet.
Are there still issues with some ethernet chipsets and Linux?

I found some options such as Asus AT3IONT-I DELUXE, Asus AT3IONT-I, Asus
AT5IONT-I. I would be happy to hear experiences about these motherboards
with Linux and Xine. Are there problems with some motherboard features?

1,1 meter is not big size. And I can watch several satellites in C band with it

The secret is in good LNB, specially and manually adopted for C-band and my

Because they need bigger motors then can be powered by the card,
they use a different setup. A Actuator that runs on 36v and is told to
move one way or the other and then pulses are counted and then the motor
is told to stop. Small dish rotors have all that logic on board and you
just teil them where you want the dish pointing

ok, understand than.
But in my case no need any big and special motors

I'm about to prepare streamdev releases 0.4.0 (final release for VDR-1.4) and
0.5.0 (for VDR-1.6/1.7). The 0.5.0 release will contain two larger changes
which have not been commited to the main CVS branch yet. Maybe some of you
want to review and comment on these. Get the tarball at
 http://streamdev.vdr-developer.org.

@all: Please see chapter Updating in the README file which is part of the
streamdev source distribution. The new version won't run out of the box. You
will have to rename the config directory first! Those using externremux.sh
will also have to modify their script.

@package maintainers: Upon request I split up the language resources for
streamdev-client and streamdev-server. Instead of one vdr-streamdev.mo you
 will now get a vdr-streamdev-server.mo and a vdr-streamdev-client.mo.
Consistently the plugin configuration directory changed from streamdev to
streamdev-server (there are no configuration files for streamdev-client yet).
To build only one plugin, use make client or make server respectively.

@externremux users: The remux script is now responsible for emitting HTTP
headers. Make sure you update your script! In turn the script gets a CGI like
environment which gives you access to request headers, context information and
details on the channel. A new sample externremux.sh is included which makes
heavy use of request parameters. To reflect these changes, the HTTP URL path

also you can discuss with a devellopers on xbmc-pvr irc channel on freenode.net

the archive you can find here is
http://xbmc.newsforyou.com/xbmc-pvr

I have been using pvr-testing and pvr-testing2 for a while now, and try
to keep up to date. However, I have two problems/questions which I want
to either ask or flag to the developers but am unsure how to do it or
even if it's a known issue?

I guess the best thing is to report these issues one by one on the XBMC
 bugtracker:

 http://xbmc.org/trac/

When you open new tickets, please use the prefix pvr-testing: when you
report a bug regarding PVR stuff.
Also choose the developer alwinus and the component unified-pvr.

Additionally, if you also want more casual feedback on these reports from
the German VDR community who is testing vnsiserver right now, please post
links to your Trac tickets on
http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/board.php?boardid=95. You can post there in
English language, that's not a problem.

2010-03-28 Thread Goga777
thx Goga, this at least helped to find out what is not working. I always used
 gotox not gotoposition.
When I choose goto position, this method is working, but gotox is not.

fine

i didn't test goto x

there one thing that's really wierd. After I changed rotor.conf like you
 suggested (before I had a 0 for
all positions, as I used gotox), I can see that toggling the satellite list
 is actually working, but
 there's no name after it.

in earlier vdr version it looked like:
 Position: 2 S28.2E - Astra 2D/A/B

 no only this is left:
 Position: 2

is satellite name displayed in your rotor plugin?

the same as you described - no any satellite name

also manual scan doesn't work

Goag

kind regards and thank you for you help

At the gdb prompt, issue the following command:

Sorry, forgot to mention this is with VDR-1.7.13...

I confirm - with vdr 1.7.13 still have the same issue

I assume, you both use vdr-xine. It would be a good idea to
create a backtrace in that situation to rule out vdr-xine as
 source of this issue.

yes, I'm using the vdr-xine 093
please advice how should I use backtrace

thanks

Re: [vdr] vdr 1.7.12 - issue with some mpeg2 channels (cVideoRepacker: switching to MPEG1/2 mode)

2010-02-09 Thread Goga777

thank you very much for your patch. Now everything is ok.

I can only reproduce this issue on channels with separate PCR
pid. I'll have to investigate further to find a solution.

As of version 1.7.12 VDR records the PCR pid if it is different
than the video PID. For lack of better knowledge I made cDevice::PlayTs()
send the PCR packets to PlayTsVideo(). The FF cards don't have a problem
with that, but maybe xine or the cVideoRepacker does.
Maybe VDR shouldn't even replay the PCR data - please advise.

As it is possible to access cPatPmtParser since a few releases,
I've changed vdr-xine to pull VPID from there instead of picking
it from packets passed to PlayTsVideo.

Re: [vdr] streamdev for xbmc testing-pvr2

2010-01-25 Thread Goga777
Is that working well ? I am using the vdr-team + henningpingel repo, but
 still have freezing problems
(xbmc goes to +/- 100% cpu) when changing channels in about 30% of the
 cases.

I have the same freezing problem with svn pvr-testing2 + non patched vdr 1711 +
cvs streamdev with patches
from

http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xbmc/branches/pvr-testing2/xbmc/pvrclients/vdr-streamdev/patches/

I have sent my bug report to xbmc forum - let's see the answer from developers

The snapshot has been taken right after adding xbmc support to streamdev-cvs.
Of course you can take a recent cvs version, too.

I would like to run svn pvr2 branch + cvs streamdev + vdr 1.7.11
does it possible at all ?

I am using that version of streamdev with pvr-testing2 ok.
 This is my setup:

 Streamdev plugin for XBMC
 http://streamdev.vdr-developer.org/

 http://streamdev.vdr-developer.org/snapshots/vdr-streamdev-0.5.0-pre-200
 90706.tgz

 PVR testing version of XBMC
 http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45314highlight=pvr

 svn checkout
 http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xbmc/branches/pvr-testing2

Patch VDR 1.7.7 with extensions (for Streamdev extension and parental
 rating)
 http://www.zulu-entertainment.de/

 http://www.zulu-entertainment.de/page/klick.php?d=VDR+Extensions+Patch

 cp Make.config.template Make.config

 Edit make.config enabling:

 PARENTALRATING = 1
 STREAMDEVEXT = 1
Other patches not required for XBMC.

The parental rating patch just gives nice colouring on the epg for tv show
 categories.

Development is very active and shows much promise. Disappointing
 deinterlacing though. There is good
support for VDPAU but with only half rate temporal. I believe there is the
 intention to support full
 rate deinterlacing... eventually.

several days ago the xbmc developers have added in trunk the support of full
rate temporal and
temporal_spatial. You can test them.

how ? does it possible at all ?

VDR/VDPAU/XINE/XORG. End up with lots of problems, change channels oo

changing sometimes crashes, with all the buffering, get slow channel
change, slow responce to pause, RW/FF and lots of lip sync problems.

I just share something I read on the XBMC [1] Web site.
The Broadcom Crystal HD Hardware Decoder (BCM970012) seems to be an
alternative for HD playback with free drivers [2]. You can get it at as
  an mini-PCIE card at eBay for 22 $ [3].

I'd recommend the BCM70015, which is the better part.

where is it possible to buy it ?

It works as a decoder only, making YUV 4:2:2 frames available, which
must then be blitted to whatever output framebuffer setup you have,
over the pci express bus. The API seems very straightforward, much
simpler that VDPAU, thus one could get a HW accelerated H.264 setup
 without X11.

what about of corrected interlace output ? Most of them videocards can't do it
correctly

I think the rotor plugin is a bit of a mess now and the latest version (1.5)
is a step backwards with no transponder scan facility.

A clever friend of mine has doctored the previous version to work with
vdr-1.7.9, to still scan transponders and better still to scan C-band
transponders. Rotor switches diseqc off it appears and VDR defaults to Ku
settings so all c-band appears to be out of rangeanyone else have this
 problem?

may the best solution - to use vdr-reelchannelscan ? nor rotor ?

One thing: I was wrong about that single FTA radio channel from Hello HD

Re: [vdr] strange issue with DVB-S2 and VDPAU

2009-11-09 Thread Goga777
After 4 yeras of SD-VDR I tried to move to HD with my VDR box.

 Current hardware:
 Asus M3N78-VM with GF9400
 Athlon BE2350
 TT3200 DVB-S2

 Software:
 Ubuntu 9.04 x86
 S2API drivers from linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb hg
 xine-vdpau
 xine-ui cvs
 plain vdr-1.7.9

are you using vdr-xine plugin 093 or vdr-xineliboutput ? which version ?

I'm mainly focused on S9.0E source, because I have a Conax subscription
 for Hello HD package (http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/hello.html)

After the first install and some finetunings, FTA HD channels (M2HD, Luxe
 HD) worked well,

what about another FTA channels from 9E - are they working fine ?

but I had broken image on Hello HD channels (on SD and HD
as well, all of them are in DVB-S2 Mpeg4), and log was full with TS
continuity error. My channels list was generated with w_scan.

you can try to scan with patched for s2api reelchannelscan vdr plugin - see my
announce in this ML

After a
while I realized that if I let vdr to update my channel.conf, all the
 channels are working fine.
And then came the disaster. Ubuntu said that 9.10 is available, and I
 choosed
 to upgrade.

it was your fault

After the upgrade I had no sound at all on my system. As I
saw, many others had this problem with Ubuntu 9.10.

yep

After a day and a half
I managed to fix the sound (compiling alsa, etc), but the TS continuity
 error came back on vdr.
Since then I tried everything, I reinstalled the dvb drivers, xine-lib,
xine-ui, I tried vdr-xine plugin and xineliboutput also, but no luck: i
have broken image on Hello HD package.

what about of 5 FTA channels ?

I also tried to make some records from those channels without any output
plugin, and I end up with 0 sized recordings (on other channels
recordings are fine), so IMHO this has nothing to do with xine.
 I'm suspecting two things:
 1. DVB drivers.
 2. Incorrect channels.conf

Reinstalling dvb drivers from liplianin did not help, nor various
 channels.conf's

One more detail: I have a Kathrein UFS-910 linux receiver. I have two
systems on that: the original firmware and Enigma2. If I try my Conax card
in the Kathy, everything works well under E2, but in the original firmware
I had the same broken image issue as with VDR.

As I am stuck with this for more than a day, any help or any ideas are
 welcomed.

show please your channels.conf
try patched vdr-channelscan

[vdr] vdr-plugin reelchannelscan-0.6.1 with s2api support

2009-10-28 Thread Goga777
Hi

http://www.free-x.de/vdr/patches/hdtv/vdr-plugin-reelchannelscan_0.6.1-1tvt1.tar.gz
here's patched channelscan plugin for vdr 1.7.* branch.
It supports s2api and can scan dvb-s/s2 transponders. It has been tested with
vdr 1.7.9.

thank to Yuri from Russian Linux VDR/DVB forum
http://www.forum.free-x.de/wbb/index.php?page=ThreadthreadID=290

the actual daily updated transponders list in tpl format (and also in ini, xml
formats) you can find here's

Re: [vdr] xineliboutbut channel change judder

2009-10-25 Thread Goga777
Приветствую, Torgeir

I can confirm such behaviour with vdr-xine 093 and vdr 179 - yes, it's really
annoing :(
Sorry, don't know how to solve such problem

When changing channels with vdr-sxfe (remote client on same computer),
I get some judder. Playback starts quite quickly at channel change,
but then there's a freeze of both audio and video for about half a
second before it starts again. Any idea what the problem can be?

 Relevant .xine/config_xineliboutput;

 engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:500 (tried 250, no difference)
 engine.buffers.video_num_frames:15 (tred 30, no difference)
engine.buffers.audio_num_buffers is not set, so should use default 230 (?)

 vdr-sxfe is run as

vdr-sxfe --video vdpau --audio oss --verbose --aspect 16:9
 --fullscreen --post tvtime:method=use_vo_driver xvdr://127.0.0.1

 The xinelibplugin is configured as

 -Pxineliboutput --local=none --remote=37890

I don't use local playback as it doesn't support all the configuration
options that I use for vdpau. Material is mostly 576i.

Re: [vdr] vdpau experience

2009-10-24 Thread Goga777
xineliboutput is a bit more difficult, because the cvs is changing nearly
  daily, so there is
currently no patch available, but it should work without patches.

where is the problem? Just do an

  cvs -z3
  -d:pserver:anonym...@xineliboutput.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/xineliboutput
   co -D '2009/10/13 12:00:00'
  vdr-xineliboutput

and you are fine with current
  'xineliboutput-cvs-20091013-vdpau-extensions-v11.diff.gz'

Thanks for the cvs command. I was unaware that could even be done!

on which variant did you stay ? have you any problems with 1080i content
watching and playback ?

I'm amazed that vdr-sxfe manages to completely avoid any judder in

did you try with local frontend ? not with vdr-sxfe

There's some occasional loss of audio lipsync, and channel

frames. I guess both of those are work in progress.

Would any of the patches from the vdr-portal thread above help on those

I have to say that vdpau is looking like a very good solution for hdtv

 support for interlaced material.

Thx! vdr-sxfe now runs very smootly with SD channels. Slight judder
 still with HD channels though.

Now the VDR experience is the best I've had for a very long time,
vdr-sxfe provides me with judder free live tv and playback, something
I never achieved with vdr-xine. Generic media playback through the
media browser is a definite plus, although the media browser interface
is a bit too cluttered to achieve high WAF. It would be nice to be
able to clear the settings from the main media player menu, and
optionally turn off items, eg. if I never need to use the play music /
 play cd options.

Your headers seem broken. What should happen (i.e. in upstream kernel
   git) is:

let's have a look on my headers (debian sid kernel 2.6.30 s2-liplianin dvb)

Did you look in /usr/include/linux/dvb/... or in /usr/src/linux/... ?

/usr/src/s2-liplianin/linux

For compiling userspace stuff (which vdr for sure is), the versions
 in /usr/include are used.

not so necessary

it's possible to change this behaviour

in dir /usr/src/s2-liplianin/linux/include/linux there's not any mentioned you
files

you can have a look yourselves
http://mercurial.intuxication.org/hg/s2-liplianin/file/ecdc9c389f8a/linux/include/

, and if the
file in question doesn't exist there, you should look under
 /usr/include/ (note, not in /usr/src).

I did so exactly in my previous mail

PS
vdr 178 compiled fine with existing headers

Have you tried the patch I posted?

no, because I have already solved this problem (as I wrote in my previous mail)

I could compile vdr 179 after of adding in dvbdevice.h string like

typedef unsigned char __u8;

Re: [vdr] [ANNOUNCE] VDR developer version 1.7.9

2009-08-23 Thread Goga777
Which distribution and version are you using?

debian sid kernel 2.6.30

And package name where /usr/include/linux/types.h and related files
 would also help:
rpm -qf /usr/include/linux/types.h (on rpm systems)
dpkg -S /usr/include/linux/types.h (on deb systems, I think)

arvdr:/usr/src/vdr-1.7.9# dpkg -S /usr/include/linux/types.h
linux-libc-dev: /usr/include/linux/types.h
