So, Thanks a million again to my family and friends for the thoughts and prayers in this manner. Now, hopefully I’ll feel up to getting my boat all cleaned out and ready for the fishing season, which will start here in just a cpl-three months or so. Having your intestines/stomach hurt 24/7 just makes you not feel like doing much of anything, and it’s been a long hard ride, but I can now see the “light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again. All I can say is thank God for this as I’ve had sooo many friends etc that have had and/or died from colo/rectal cancer in the past, I don’t mind telling you I was scared to death deep down inside. But it will still be hard on them, as it is for anybody who loses a loved one. I didn't know Penny , but from what all I have heard she was a great wife, mother and daughter, as well as just a great all around person and the world suffered a loss when it lost her today. Evenin' guys; This thread reminds me of when I went to one of my first fishing tackle shows. There were these guys demonstrating how great the lure they were hawking was, and how lively it was in the water. They would show how it would drop and then how it would act when they twitched the rod a bit, etc. Quite realistic. Then my dad said to me You really think that lure acts like that in the water? Just look how they are manipulating it, and from what angle. Sure enough, they were using an ice fishing rod, mostly picking the lure straight up, then moving it a foot or two by walking along the side of the tank, then letting it fall straight back down. A quite unrealistic way to retrieve a lure. Almost like gigging, only moving while doing so. I wonder how the lure would have acted if it had been cast 20 or 30 feet, instead of 5 or 6 feet, then played the way they were playing it, only from a stationary point. I am not inferring that is what I see with this thread, it just made me think of that show and how the men were demonstrating their lure. This is a quite interesting thread to me. (S.787 - Clean Water Restoration Act) To what I am reading, there is nothing that even resembles anything that would infringe upon our fishing, hunting, bird watching or any thing else. From what I read, it is a good thing. It even states that fishing and bird hunting on our waters brings in over $76,600,000,000.00 dollars. That's BILLIONS folks, with a B. As far as I can see. all the bill does is change some wording, and reinforces the clean water act of 1972. TO WIT: The purposes of this Act are-- (1) to reaffirm the original intent of Congress in enacting the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 (Public Law 92-500; 86 Stat. 816) to restore and maintain the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the waters of the United States; (2) to clearly define the waters of the United States that are subject to the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1251 et seq.); and (3) to provide protection to the waters of the United States to the maximum extent of the legislative authority of Congress under the Constitution. It seems to be all about keeping pollutants our of the water, and keeping it clean. It states nothing about curtailing any water related sports activities. By the way, the bill was introduced in April of 2009 by several congressmen. Here are the proponents of the bill: Mr. FEINGOLD (for himself, Mrs. BOXER, Mr. CARDIN, Mr. BROWN, Ms. CANTWELL, Mr. CARPER, Mr. DODD, Mr. DURBIN, Mrs. GILLIBRAND, Mr. KERRY, Mr. KOHL, Mr. LAUTENBERG, Mr. LEAHY, Mr. LEVIN, Mr. LIEBERMAN, Mr. MENENDEZ, Mr. MERKLEY, Mr. REED, Mr. SANDERS, Mr. SCHUMER, Mrs. SHAHEEN, Ms. STABENOW, Mr. WHITEHOUSE, and Mr. WYDEN) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works. Man; A couple of you have fished in my old stomping grounds! In Michigan I have fly fished the Au Sable, both above the generator plant and below it near Hale, the Rifle River, Paint Creek, Clinton River, Stony Creek, Pere Marquette, and a couple of others whose names escape me at the moment. I have also fly fished the Sabine, Trinity, and Neches Rivers in Texas, and the Calcashieu River in Louisiana. Hey Bob and Ed. Where did you fish the Clinton River and Paint Creek? In Rochester??? I grew up there. I caught my first trout in Paint Creek, where it crosses 1st St near where Avon Tube used to be. It is not a very difficult job, but it can be time consuming, especially on a busy list. That is why it may be a good idea to have2, 3, 4, or even 5 co-moderators. That way, when one has other obligations, one of the other moderators would approve members, messages, etc. I am a co-moderator of several yahoo groups, and owner of a few more, and it is really great when others are moderating too. For instance, I am co-moderator of a group called Briansfreshwaterfishing, on yahoo, and it has about 2100 members. But, there are about a half dozen of us moderators, plus the owner, so no one has to do all the work. It is really quite easy that way. At any rate, as I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't mind helping out, just not alone. On most of my lists prospective members need to tell why they want to join...not so much for learning something about the wannabe member, but to help make sure it isn't a spambot.
