Thanks Allan: Hope all is going well with you. In mid-winter here so fishing is a little tough. There is a lake two minutes from here where trout are stocked for the children's school term holidays. Oops: Sorry Don. I had the wrong swap in mind. I was thinking of the Seaducers I “tried” to tie. The pink ones, I just tried to follow your DVD. I like the rope dub MUCH, as in 1000 times better (easier to me) than trying my hand at traditional dubbing, which has always been one of the hardest things to do. Use no wax, it don’t work for me, use wax and it gums up, TRY to use a little wax, and I get either too little or too much in spots, or the dubbing just sticks to my fingers and NOT to the thread. Rope dubbing, I take about a 1.5 pound mono I get from Hobby Lobby, lash the “noodle of dubbing” to the hook shank, spin it around the mono “rope core”, and turn in the opposite direction so the wraps get tighter and tighter as it goes. The fishing was quite difficult but did manage a nice Grayling and one Brown Trout and my mate had a few more. Fish were caught on small shrimp or pheasant tail nymph patterns. Chemo going as well as can be expected, on my third course at present then hopefully will get a bit of a rest till next lot. Yeah, Don't do it Rene'. I almost got dis owned by all my friends for telling them I even TOUCHED one of my old spinning reels and crappie jigs the other week ROFL. Oh well. Never got to use it anyway, as it blew up a storm as soon as we got to the lake and I just had it in case they weren't biting my trusty Fly rod anyway . Boy, as my grand mother used to say when fishing and not "catching" whatever It meant that "You're not holding your mouth right" or "spit on your bait" LOL.. I have been to the lake(s) 4 times this yr and have caught a grand total of FOUR bluegills and a tiny bass.Course our weather (record lows all Winter long) had the water temps all messed up and I guess the fish just haven't much of an appetit. Yeah, I found out what Medicare pays the hard way myself. Even with a part D or whatever it is, I have to pay 20%, plus an annual co-pay first of each yr and after say, my recent (few months ago) three day, and over $20,000 hospital stay along, that was four grand. Then, you start getting bills from all these radiologists who read your X-Rays, CT -scans, etc, and they won't theirs. Seems like a lot of hogs at the trough LOL... I just send everybody a little each month as I have well over a quarter MILLION dollars in hospitals and doc bills over the yrs. I'd have to outlive Methulsala (and in perfect health till then LOL) to ever make a dent in them at all. I'm still in the process of relocating to Boise. In Casper right now loading up the moving truck, or at least pointing fingers for the movers. I'm a better watcher than a doer when it comes to manual labor. But actually I have been doing hours of prep-work. Good thing the company is paying for it- I wouldn’t last. Hi Allan, yes, she is back from hospital. Surgery went well, and she is improving. Has still pain in her underside (translates this well?). She is not allowed to do heavy work or lift stuff for the next 5 or 6 months. But I have her back, and she is well. In 5 weeks she will do her examination and she is already very nervous. The question was: Where is everybody? Answer: I'm in.. For fishing, I was a couple of time out, I have reported that i own now a nice fishing cabin at the Mosel, I'm fishing and my wife is sitting in a winery, watching me and is enjoying some Riesling. Don;t know who is more lucky. Fishing however was slow, the Mosel has not so many trout, ff quarry is Zander (Similar to Walleye), but these boys have closed season currently. If I would tell you what I'd used as bait I would be banned here... Went out Tuesday afternoon and hit the pond at he right time. Got almost a fish a cast and had a ball. Use a yellow boa yarn fly. Lots of crappie and some gills. Also had a few large bass. Things are going well up here in the Great NW. My High Mtn Lake season opens Saturday. Will go depnding on weather, Sat, or Monday. Have plans to run over to Rocky Ford Creek on Sat, May 3rd. Fun to get into the big boys over there. Put the final coat of Helmsman on my new Don Anderson 7'9" 5 wt and it is nice! The same rod is in the water soak tube for a Quad. Hi Al I'm busier than a wallpaper hanger with just one arm! Trying to get my little Chalet folding trailer ready for a 2 week fishing trip commencing 01 May. I have replaced the drapes, the tracks that the drapes slide on, and now I get to run a new copper gas line to my new cooktop which need to be installed. Of course the new cooktop needed a copper gas line that was 3" inches longer and of course the original hole made for the original stove is now just too wide so I have to add some wood back to the edge of the cut out hole so that I can actually secure the cook top so that it doesn't jump out of the counter at the first pothole that I hit! I'm currently sewing velcro tape on the drapes which the person who made them for me forgot to put on. (The velcro holds the drapes together when the drapes are closed and another strap with velcro holds the drapes back when open.) Next, I have to repaint the drawbar, pull & reinstall the hot water heater to check for a leak and finally daub all the seams with RV silicone to keep out the silly water! In the meantime I need to tie some more flies, complete my income tax and file it and sort out my tackle for the trip. Dot and I are doing a lot better but I am still fighting the Sinus infection. I think we are going to have to pass on the Oklahoma show. Neither one of us are up to traveling next week.. I did get down to the dock to bail out my boat. The pump broke and the boat was filled to the gunnels. If it were not for the strap underneath the boat it would of sunk. Got the pump fixed and it is set back up for the rain tonight and next Saturday through Tuesday. They are predicting heavy rain, hail and wind with the possible tornados. If you aren't getting messages, you can always check the internet location to see if new messages are being added. http://groups.google.com/group/vfb-mail?hl=en Check your spam filters, if you labeled one VFB message as spam, likey most others will get that label as well. I've seen a few messages come through with a [SPAM] last couple days which may be a problem.
