Also, I don't know of any arcade games like PackMan, although there are several games that rely on sound, some do use VoiceOver and some do not, although those that do not can still be played by blind gamers, because everything is audio. Hi all, When I back up my iPhone I always do an encrypted back up of my iPhone by connecting the phone cable to my computer and to iTunes so that everything on my phone is back up to the computer. Do I have this right? Anyhow, I have a question about the encrypted back up and that is do I have to make sure certain things are checked like apps ect? Chris and Feliciano, I thought I'd seen spotlight and handwriting paired in settings, but never would have guessed handwriting had anything to do with searching for apps. The rotor comes into play once again... it's remarkable. I've got Drop Box on the phone now so I can copy my text files about how to use the phone in there and read them with Voice Dream. Speaking of DB, installing Drop Box was a little unclear since when I entered a password I wasn't sure was correct the screen went green (according to a sighted person who was present) and all that still showed on the screen was the log in and sign in button. I don't remember if it said in progress at that point. I only knew it was correct and had found my account because I got an e mail on my computer saying an app wanted to share files. I do have to say that when I tried a different password it said that one was incorrect, so I went back to the first one and tried again. When I unlocked the phone this morning I started hearing 50% and so on, and I assumed things were still being uploaded to the phone. I guess I need to play with Bible gateway more. I found it a bit cluttered for my taste, and if you wanted to browse the bible books instead of doing a search, I found that difficult. I have used an original focus 40 blue with IOS 8, and frankly, I like my Focus 14 blue with it a lot better. As you say, more commands are supported. The only way to flick right and left with the original aside from using a chorded command to do it each time is to use the wiz wheels. I really never liked the wiz wheels. They are, at least for me, hard to control. Also double tapping to me isn't intuitive. I like using the mode button for that on the Focus 14 blue. I don't own the original focus 40 blue, and honestly, I'm glad I don't. Even with the extra cells, I much prefer my 14 with the iPhone. Of course, if I could get a newer 40, then I would prefer that, but since you're asking about the older one, I must tell you that given the choice, I'd take my newer 14 over that one any day. I rejoiced when they got rid of the wiz wheels. Funny you should mention this. I did a search last night in iTunes store on my Apple TV. Typed in DVS for the search. Five movies came up. They were all Dysney movies only. I purchase the movie Up. It was video described which was nice, but it had nothing to do with the video description choice on Apple TV. I really want to see how that will work. Once I hear the description, I may not want to hear it again. I switch back and forth from 8-dot braille to 6-dot contracted. I am so happy now that you can adjust these separately for input and output, as I was constantly doing a G-chord by mistake when typing a message, typing in grade 2 braille before realizing I was not in that mode, and having to backtrack and delete and retype. I always switch to 8-dot input when inputting an e-mail address, Web address, or username and password. I find it works a lot better honestly. I am struggling to scan multiple pages of a hardback book using knfb reader on iPhone 5s. The more I bend back the page I don't need, the more the other page bends so I can't get a decent scan. I've found that I just need to remove KNFB Reader from the App Switcher, then re-open it. That's faster, and accomplishes the same thing, at least on my iPhone 5. Hi all, I encountered a slight problem today in that I attempted to read a couple of couments and wasn't managing it. Nothing was being read to me and I wasn't sure why. I decided to close as many apps as I could, that may have been the cause, and then everything worked OK. It may be that there's a particular app that was the culpret, or it could be that there just were too many apps on the go. For whatever reason, I'll remember to check that one the next time I want to run the app. I eventually got a scan from both sheets of paper in my hand! One thought would be to find the nearest FedEx store, formerly Kinko's, and have the book bound in a spiral binding so you can easily only have one page in view. Otherwise, you might want to try binder clips. They are like a wide, what we used to call Alegator clips, too hold pages together. Any office supply place would have them in a variety of sizes. Weather and gamecenter app on the Ipad
Hi In settings gamecenter is shown on my Ipad. In the notification center I also get some weather information. But the apps themselves aren't there. What's with that? Go to settings, general, usage, manage usage then delete Downcast and then re-download it from the app store. That should resolve everything. Starting fresh usually resolves everything. I have a package of vacuum cleaner bags that has never been opened, and my machine needed a bag. To be sure I have the right ones, I ordered some from Oreck. They arrived. So, I got the package I already had, along with those that I knew were the right ones. I called to try the app out, and the sighted person verified that both packages are for the same vacuum. She also told me the layout of the buttons on a portable chess computer. There are some that I did not know the function of. Both problems are now solved. And I forgot to mention that to bring up the Spotlight search as a VoiceOver user, you can do a three finger swipe down on any home page. Just don't touch the status bar first because then you obviously bring up the Notification Center. It seems natural for me to just turn one a click when reading and wanting to read either the rest of the current line or the beginning of the next. It's just a nice way to scroll down a page. I'm fried though because this phone has turned me into an obsessive due to trying to explore so many things and at the expense of normal daily activities. I thought this way too, until my Focus14 Blue decided to go-slow and then quit working. The Focus40 Bluue classic is far more robust (but heavier) than the Focus14. By the way, if you use spotlight search to search for an app, it will tell you if it is in the folder.it will come up under the applications heading it will tell you the name of the application and then it will tell you the name of the folder that it is in.
