RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello My Friend,

Yes I did, indeed, attempt to use the same method one would use to delete an
app. It does not work.

I saw the Audible app in my purchase history of the tvOS App Store on my Apple
TV. I never would have thought of downloading it were it not in my purchased
list.

Hi mark,

Have you tried the same way you get rid of apps, press and hold the touchpad,
then press the Play/Pause button? This is only a guess which leads me to my
question. How do get Audible on the Apple TV? I can only assume for some reason
it is not available in Canada because when I look in my purchased apps where I
see all apps I purchased on my iPhone and which are also available on TVOS it
is not there. When I search for "Audible" all I get is the app for
AudioBooks.com. Since we use the US version of Audible in Canada I am really
surprised it's not available.

Sieghard

Subject: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App
on Apple TV 4th Generation

Hello Everyone,

I am cross-posting this question.

Does anyone know how to delete an audio book from the Audible app on the latest
version of tvOS?

My situation is as follows:

Because I have a legacy Audible account, one that has not yet been linked to
Amazon, I can only login to my account using a username and password instead of
an email address and password. At present, the tvOS version of the app does
not support this.

Yesterday, after opening the Audible app in tvOS, I went to the accounts tab.
To my surprise, even when not logged in, one can browse and download free audio
books. I took advantage of this feature and downloaded one title. Everything
works perfectly accept that I cannot discover how to remove the book.

Any and all replies welcomed.

Mark

RE: Messages disappeared

Mary,

The messages will not disappear until 2 minutes after you played them. It would
of course be silly if they disappeared after 2 minutes since this assumes you
are sitting there waiting ready to listen immediately.

Well, that was in fact sent to two minutes. But those messages Hung around for
longer than that. I got them yesterday. They were present this morning. They
were absent this afternoon. And technically, I don't know if they count as
audio messages, as it said attached media in both cases. Maybe that's what an
audio message is. I get so few messages. In any case, I was lucky, because the
person was able to resend the messages without any problem. I have set that
keep audio messages setting to forever. so if that was the problem, I guess I
should be good to go.

RE: bluetooth headset recommendations

2016-04-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I like it a lot except that is on the larger side as far as earpieces are
concerned. It folds and that I like because there is no on/off button, if you
fold it it's off, if you unfold it it's on. If the phone rings and you unfold
the headset it automatically turns itself on and picks up the call and it
supports voice commands like "Answer" when the phone rings and I do find on
that earpiece it works very reliably.
One thing it does not support is Play/Pause unless they have updated it, I have
had mine for about 2 years, but you can press and hold the talk button for a
moment and it activates SIRI so I use it as a work-around and just tell SIRI to
"Play" or "Pause".
Voice quality is good and considering it's a bit larger it still is comfortable
at least for me it is..

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: Messages disappeared

2016-04-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary,

You probably didn't delete the messages accidently, but by default iOS deletes
audio messages after 2 minutes..
You may want to check what is set for the expiry of audio and video messages in
Settings > Messages. It's near the bottom and I believe by default audio and
video messages expire after 2 minutes, you can double tap on that and the
options are 2 minutes or never. When it is set to 2 minutes, the explanation
reads as follows:

When you sent or listen to an audio message it will automatically be removed
from your conversation history after 2 minutes.

As I said, you can change this to "Never" or, whenever you get an audio message
and tap on it to play it, there is a "Keep" button and if you tap that the
message will be kept. This is not a bug but it is done this way by design,
almost works like SnapChat except it is only like this for audio messages so
that not a bunch of storage space is taken up by old audio messages.

Sieghard

The protocol which allows for Play/Pause control is called AVRCP (Audio/Video

I use it without the ear hook, and it feels pretty solid, but I can understand
how one could lose it if out and about. It's very light and I easily forget I'm
wearing it. I don't use it when travelling about town, only when stationary or
working at home. I still use my Voyager Legend at times, I am very comfortable
with both. If the Edge falls out with the power on, you can use the Plantronics
Hub iPhone app to help you find it. I haven't done this, but I imagine it a bit
like the AppleWatch Ping my iPhone feature.

It's an AD2P device so yes, you can stream sound through the earpiece. The
call button can play/pause and a press and hold brings up Siri.
I don't bother with the talking caller ID feature since VO already does
that. Nor do I use the handsfree answer/hold foption as I don't find it
reliable enough, but all that aside, it works well and has a very clear sound.
And yes, it's small. This is one of the reasons why I liked it over the
Voyager Legend. The Legend felt like you had a piece of equipment on the side
of your face. The Edge is a simple earhook that you can slip on and off
quickly.
The stem of the Edge does stick out a bit. Again, it's in the shape of a house
key somewhat to give you an idea with the stem part being thin.

RE: A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Mark

RE: email notification question

2016-04-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jed,

As Joseph pointed out, if it is an Exchange or Exchange Active Sync account you
can set the "fetch" option to Push which means as soon as an email is received
on the server it is pushed to your phone. Otherwise I believe the smallest
fetch interval you can set is 15 minutes. The actual notification, however, has
nothing to do with whether you have set it up with Push or using a time
interval. Even if you fetch your mail only once an hour you can still be
notified, it just may not be for a while. How you will be notified is
controlled in Settings > Notifications > Mail. Here you can select each account
you have, set a unique notification sound for each account and specify whether
you want notifications to be included in the Notification Center, visible on
the lock screen and also whether you want notifications to show up as alerts or
banners.

RE: bluetooth headset recommendations

2016-04-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Cristóbal and Keith,

Thanks for the descriptions. I asked about whether it supports Play/Pause
because that is not controlled by the AD2P protocol. I used to have one of the
older Jawbone earpieces and currently have a Jabra Supreme, both support AD2P
but neither does Play/Pause when you press the main button which answers and
hangs up phone calls.
The protocol which allows for Play/Pause control is called AVRCP (Audio/Video
Remote Control Profile) and until not too long ago most single earpieces did
not have it whereas stereo Bluetooth headsets have had it for a long time. I
guess the manufacturers thought people don't listen to audio or music with
single earpieces or if they do then just things like instructions from GPS
units/apps and stuff like that.
Anyhow, I'll be in Vancouver in two weeks so hopefully I have time to go t a
Best Buy or other large store where they have them so I can check it out. It
definitely is an expensive option and I just spend $200 for a Plantronics
Backbeat Sense stereo Bluetooth headset which gets extremely good reviews for
Bluetooth headsets in that price range and it even gets better reviews than
some that cost $300 or $400. I'll get it on Monday and I'll probably post a bit
of a review once I have used it for a while.

Sieghard

Hi Sieghard,

I recently recievd my Edge. Prior, I had been using a Voyager Legend Pro.

I was expecting something the size of a key, but there are different size keys.
It's bigger than my apartment unit door key, and slightly longer than our
buildings front door key. It's closer to my wife's car key, but these come in
many shapes and sizes, I'm sure.

It's shaped a bit like a smoking pipe. The bowl end is what goes in your ear,

I'm interested to know if anyone is now able to use MS Word productively

all that useful and changing fonts, for example, was much more tedious
than I'd wanted.

I thought I might take another look, since I have it, but would ask
first in case anyone has already done so and found either that it's
quite good and can tell me what you can achieve or, alternatively, that
it's still not worth it and is really too much bother.

Thanks for any comments.

I have no idea how that could've happened, since the other messages I deleted

Messages disappeared

2016-04-15 Thread Mary Otten
Hi all,
Yesterday, somebody sent me two messages with voice memo audio attached. I did
not delete them. They were there yesterday evening. Today, I got two messages
neither of which had audio, both of which I deleted. And now, those two other
messages are gone. I can't search for them and find them. They are simply not
there. Yesterday, if I did a search for one of the words in the title, the
messages appeared. Now, they are simply not appearing. How would a message get
deleted if I didn't deliberately delete it? I guess there is no way to get
these back, correct? These were not voicemails. They were messages sent from
somebody's iPhone with attached audio. Very frustrated as I need these things
to practice with for Sunday church.

A Question About How To Delete Audio Books from the Audible tvOS App on Apple TV 4th Generation

2016-04-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am cross-posting this question.

Does anyone know how to delete an audio book from the Audible app on the
latest version of tvOS?

My situation is as follows:

Because I have a legacy Audible account, one that has not yet been linked to
Amazon, I can only login to my account using a username and password instead
of an email address and password. At present, the tvOS version of the app
does not support this.

Yesterday, after opening the Audible app in tvOS, I went to the accounts
tab. To my surprise, even when not logged in, one can browse and download
free audio books. I took advantage of this feature and downloaded one
title. Everything works perfectly accept that I cannot discover how to
remove the book.

Any and all replies welcomed.

Mark

I haven't given up on this one! Please could you confirm whether it's just with
virgin media or NTL addresses, or whether it is when I am using specific
equipment. I sometimes use my phone, as with this email, and at other times i's
my Braille sense or computer. This may help me to sort out what may be going
wrong.

So far as I am aware, I have set up my account using the settings recommended
for computers, i.e., in the case of NTL addresses, it seems they always need
you to put your full address. My name, therefore, does not appear on its own!

I have applied a "Reply to" address to my email account but it's difficult for
me to know what is actually happening. If you want to discuss this further and
help me to solve it, please write perhaps off the list! Thanks and apologies

2016-04-15 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone

Thanks and apologies
again for those who are inconvenienced by this!

Re: Changing calendar views.

2016-04-15 Thread John Panarese
It’s actually not difficult. Remember that you have three views: day, month
and year. You need to use the back button if you are seeing the hours of the
day listed. The back button will take you to the month view. I use the Calendar
app all of the time and it’s not difficult to use at all.

Yeah, I haven’t been able to figure out the calendar app for around a year or

Re: MLB At Bat sometimes stops the audio at the beginning of a half inning.

2016-04-15 Thread don bishop
Hi Mary, It's available on itunes premium and it's games for all teams, so you
can listen to home or away, just like mlb. I suspect the 2 are related somehow.
On itunes they only start when the game does, so you don't get the pregame
stuff. If you have the premium, check it out.

What is iTunes premium? Do you get it if you are subscribed to iTunes Music for
the 9.99 a month, where do you find the games? This is the first I have heard

I have noticed this behavior with many streaming apps including MLB At
Bat, NBA league Pass, NASCAR mobile, and NFL Mobile.

I also have experienced similar behavior. The audio seems to stop. When
I touch the screen it starts up again. It doesn't seem to happen very
 often.

I am not a hundred percent certain but I think the issue you may be having
is similar to something I go through as it has to do with blackout and
commercials not an accessibility issue. Some times At Bat does not air all
the commercials and the audio will go dead for a minute or so then come
back on. I have noticed this with a few game feeds that are out of my
market. Think it has something to do with local advertising.

This is one issue that has me stumped. I'm listening to an MLB game with

even weirder. I have my iPhone 6s Plus locked. If I unlock it after the
stream stops, almost every time it starts playing immediately, and the

Anybody experiencing this issue, and if so how do you solve it?

RE: Possibly off topic, a question about the play room

2016-04-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Shawn,

It would seem that this thread is more about playing the game than it is about
using Safari.

It would be as if someone wanted to discuss the finer points of reading the
Wall Street Journal, on-list, because they use Safari to access it.

Sometimes there comes a point in a thread when the focus is less about using
the Safari app to being more about the nuances of the destination site.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me directly, off-list.

Thank you,

Mark

Hi Mark, I'm confused. How is this thread off topic? We're talking about being
able to play QuentinC's Playroom using Safari on an iOS device. Is there
something I'm missing?

Hi Mary, It's available on itunes premium and it's games for all teams, so you
can listen to home or away, just like mlb. I suspect the 2 are related somehow.
On itunes they only start when the game does, so you don't get the pregame

2016-04-15 Thread don bishop
Speaking of mlb at bat, I really dislike the junk they insert between half
nings. The way they do it is really sloppy with cutting the regular commercials
off inthe middle and also sometime; running into the play by play of the next
half inning. Plus all theose highlight replays are really bad. I've started
listening to itunes radio where they don't seem to do any of that nonsense.

Hi Mark, I'm confused. How is this thread off topic? We're talking about being
able to play QuentinC's Playroom using Safari on an iOS device. Is there
something I'm missing?

RE: Difficulty activating WiFi Calling

2016-04-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Esther,

It may be that you need a new SIM card for your phone. Were I you, I would go
to my local A T & T Wireless corporate store and ask them to switch out the
SIM. This should resolve your problem.

Subject: Difficulty activating WiFi Calling

Hi, All!

I've been grappling back and forth with AT trying to set up WiFi calling and
they can't seem to get the code needed for doing this. When I activate WiFi
calling, and enable it, I get a message saying that they can't set it up until
I call a particular 800 number which I've done. The technician I'm dealing
with told me that VoiceOver might be the problem, but I don't think it is,
because many of you have set up this feature. Any help will be truly greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Removing an app

2016-04-15 Thread Kwork
And, when you're done editing, press the home button to get out of edit mode.
If you forget to do this, you could get into a delete confirmation screen next
time you try to open an app by double tapping on it.

I just picked up a free app but I have decided I really don’t want it as it

How do I get rid of an app?
