Re: Looking for accessible XFINITY apps.

Hi,
I wasn't aware you were able to answer your phone through it. I just knew it
could pop up the caller ID info when away from home for instance and it'd
let you hear your voice mails and the like without needing to phone home
literally.

you do it?

I am not the hugest tv user so don't know for sure but since they were both
free I had both at one point or another. I think in their descriptions in

The TV app lets you watch any show on your cable network, but it only works
when you were attached to your home Wi-Fi. The TV go app lets you watch things
anywhere, but not all programs which are available when you are on your home
network are available when you are away from your home network.

I just listened to the AppleVis podcast on the Roger app and am trying it on
my iPhone 6. I like its audio quality and how it allows me to send voice
messages. I tested the app by recording a voice message to one of my contacts
not yet on Roger but I can't figure out how to review what I recorded and sent.

Can anyone with more experience with the Roger app tell me how I can review
the Rogers I've sent? I tried opening the link which was in the text that I
sent containing my first Roger message but I couldn't figure out how to hear
the recording.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Re: notifications in Dice World to tell someone has played?

2016-08-07 Thread MamaPeach
You should be able to go to notifications on your device and look for Dice
World to turn on Notifications for that app. If it isn’t listed in the
Notifications area, go to Settings and then just scroll down until you find
Dice World. It will take you a while to get down to it, depending on how many
apps are listed there. Once you find Dice World, just double tap on it and in
there you can turn on Notifications.

If
no notification is set in Dice World when first played, how can you turn
notifications on so it will announce when a player has sent a move.

Re: amazon app, major bug

2016-08-07 Thread Candie Doy
Hi.

I also tried to place an order on my 6 Plus using the latest version of the
Amazon app and iOS 9.3.3. I wanted to change the shipping address to send a
birthday present to my daughter. I also could not get beyond that screen, so I
used Safari on my MBA to complete the order process. I tried the three-finger
swipes to change pages and tapped anywhere I could think of to try to make it
work. It simply would not.

count exactly, but there must have been replies from at least a dozen people

ever mentioned what phone you had. Have you tried to swipe up (or down) with
three fingers to see what Voiceover says in terms of "Page 1 of 2" or "Page 2

Well, i had not 1 but 2 reps try it. Both of them actually use it all the
time. I got lucky, they both tried it with voiceover and the same results.
I placed an order on the pc with no problem. It's certainly an app issue.

Hello Jed,

You know, I've been following this thread and a couple of things come to mind:

Have you attempted to place an order from a desktop web browser, lately? I'm
starting to wonder if there is something amiss with your actual Amazon account.

To be honest, and I don't doubt you for a minute, I find it difficult to
believe that Apple accessibility could/would confirm such a bug with a
third-party app.

This is to say, in order to confirm such a problem, the Apple rep would have to
(1) download the app, (2) login to an Amazon account, (3) locate a product, (4)
have/create payment methods, billing address, shipping addresses etc, (5) and
attempt to place an order. While this is certainly possible, I don't recall
any Apple rep being so involved, especially where a third party app is
concerned. I suppose it is possible that you gave the rep your login
credentials but, again, I cannot imagine an Apple rep accepting them if for no
other than security concerns for your privacy.

Having said all this, the problem still remains that you cannot complete an
Amazon order.

Have you changed the default display configuration on your device? This is to
say, it is possible, that such modifications, assuming they are extreme enough,
could corrupt the apps display aspect ratio and, consequently, prevent
VoiceOver from properly focusing on available buttons.

I suggest that you explore all of the device's display settings and make
certain that everything is set to the default parameters--especially the screen
size and font size.

Also, if you have a plus size device, make certain that the Reach ability
feature is disabled.

One more thing, assuming that the display settings have not been modified, the
next troubleshooting step I would take would be to find a sighted person,
disable VoiceOver, and see if the sighted person can move forward with the
purchasing process.

Good Luck,

Mark

Hey guys,
Well, this is most certainly a problem, i confirmed it through apple
accessibility.
Even after updating my IOS, deleting the app and re-installing it, you can no
longer get past the address. Basicly, the button that says select this address
button, you an no longer double tap on it, it does nothing.

RE: Comcast app and audio description???

2016-08-07 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

On Charter set-top boxes, there's an Audio Description toggle that doesn't
work. But, I found out that finding the Spanish language toggle does provide
some audio description at times, when there's no Spanish language available.

The Charter folks talked me through using their remote by memorizing a sequence
of tabs and button presses.

Maybe within the Comcast app there's a Spanish language option. It might be
worth a try if you know the show is audio described.

basically also remote desktop apps for Windows and which give you full access
to your PC, but none of them is accessible.

Hey all,
I'm wondering if there is an accessible app with voiceover for the iPhone 6
that can control a Windows 7 PC? I want to be able to listen to music, watch
movies, play some of my books and comedy files from my iPhone. I have a set of
speakers hooked up to my computer, and I'm not always buy the laptop. Thank you

RE: For Jenifer: Fwd: Small update on the BotVac app accessibility.

2016-08-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Are you looking in the right spot? Once you go to Settings > WiFi, you have to
go all the way to the end even past the "Ask to join networks" button and the
explanation "Known networks will be joined automatically, if no known networks
are available you will have to manually select a network".
The WiFi Thermostats from RadioThermostats.com also initially show up there
until they are connected to your WiFi, if the Neato is still not there I'd get
a sighted person to reset it and see if that helps.

thinking about installing what's app, looking for different viewpoints.

2016-08-07 Thread Chris Judd
Hey all,

I have heard a lot about the app called what’s app. I am thinking of
installing it, but I was wondering for those that use it, what do you like, or
dislike about it?
also, any help you can give me on how to use it would be helpful.
Thanks,
Chris

Or you could spend $40 or $50 and get a basic wireless keyboard and use it, of
course you would have to hear your screenreader on
the computer. If I want to use my computer say in the kitchen because maybe I
have a recipe on the computer that I want to cook, I
just hook up my computer to my Sonos system, put it on the kitchen speakers and
bring my Logitech MK510 keyboard to the kitchen and
I’m all set. If you have a laptop with Bluetooth you could do the same with a
Bluetooth speaker and keyboard which many of us
already have for use with the iPhone.
The MK510 by the way is the wireless keyboard and mouse combo, it’s the middle
of the road one, there is also a more basic MK310 and
a more expensive MK710 and I believe you can buy just the keyboards which have
an “S” designation, e.g. S310, S510 etc. They use a
tiny USB dongle which is about the size of a Micro SD card as the
transmitter/receiver and are fantastic. When it’s plugged in to a
USB port it just sticks out maybe a quarter of an inch and you hardly notice
it. I prefer this type of solution because I can fully
use my computer anywhere in the house.

Any one having problems with NFB Nesline app?

2016-08-07 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

The past 24 hours I have encountered the app crashing from the Main Screen of
the app when I double tap on the Subscriptions button, to access previously
downloaded content.

Accessing Publications online from the Publications button works fine.

I've closed the app from the app switcher several times, and powered my phone
off an on again without benefit.

I'm hoping to avoid deleting the app and reinstalling, as I don't enjoy going
through an resubscribing to various newspapers and magazines if I don't have
to.but that is ann option, I know.

Anyone else having these problems or have suggestions for what else to try?

Thanks in advance, Keith

2016-08-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Theoretically you can save videos from your camera roll to Dropbox, but Voice
Dream Reader has nothing to do with that process. You would simply find the
video in the Photos app, tap on Share and select to save it to Dropbox. Of
course the Save to Dropbox option is only there if you have the Dropbox app
installed and as I said before, you may have to tap on one of the “More”
buttons in the share sheet and first turn on to show the Dropbox extension.

I am definitely not seeing that option. I look for it also. It's very strange.
I looked at some settings within voice dream reader for dropbox and other
things and didn't see anything but I must be missing something here not sure
what. Meanwhile I am uploading some of these videos to YouTube which of course
it takes forever to do. Dropbox seems a little more or I don't know direct so
that I can send things to specific people know that they will receive them
provided they take the time to download them. Do I need to have iCloud turned
on to be doing this question to take files that are already on the phone and
put them in drop box question

Are you not finding that option?

RE: USB cable question

2016-08-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Also very good are Amazon Basics cables and Anker cables.
One needs to keep in mind that just like with many other types of products,
most brands are made in a very few manufacturering facilities.

Ixcc makes good, reliable MFI cables. I highly recommend that brand. No
shortouts, and even when I shove the 6-foot Cable I have by my bed under my
pillow (and as a result, have sort of bent the wiring in multiple directions)
the cable is still holding up very, very well. They also work with the OtterBox
Defender case for my iPhone 6S.

Thanks, Ari

RE: Accessible app for iPhone for controlling your Windows PC

2016-08-07 Thread Richard Turner
Can you do this with iTunes home sharing?
That rings a vague bell, but hopefully someone else can chime in.

I use an app called Pulseway, that also has a Windows utility you have to
install for accessing the system when my screen reader on the computer isn’t
talking.
You can reboot the computer look at error messages and lots more.
You might even be able to do what you are asking but that is something I’ve
never explored.

Re: Transferring videos from the phone directly into dropbox on the phone

2016-08-07 Thread Richard Turner

The Dropbox in VDR is for transferring VDR files to and from dropbox, but is
only accessible to Dropbox.
So unless the videos were in VDR, that won't help, and VDR doesn't handle
videos.
So, try installing the Dropbox app, and see if it becomes available to the
photos app after that.
Since I have the dropbox app installed, I can't say if the photos app should be
able to access dropbox without it being installed.
HTH,
Richard

Well voice dream reader has dropbox. I was just wondering if there was a way to
get files that are already on the phone into dropbox on the phone. I suppose I
could copy them in from another computer if that other computer would boot. It
won't.

I am not sure what VDR would have to do with your videos.
But, try downloading the DropBox app, and sign in to your account.
Then try sharing again from the photos app.

OK, I think what the problem might be is that I assumed that dropbox would be
accessed through voice dream reader. It looks like I'm going to have to
download the dropbox app do you think that's what the problem is?

Some of the share extensions have to be turned on before they are available. To
do this tap on the “More” button when you bring up the Share sheet. There are
actually two areas or whatever one would call it and there are also two More
buttons. Give it a try.

I just looked at a video in my photos app.
When I double tapped on share, then flicked through the options, save to
Dropbox was one of the options.
When I double tapped on that, I had the option to save it anywhere on Dropbox I
wanted.
Are you not finding that option?
Richard
