RE: what are the advantages of upgrading from 6SPlus to 7Plus?

2016-10-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, the advantages do not justify the price unless you are on some sort of plan
already where you pay for getting upgrades each year. Of course those on such
plans do ultimately pay for the privilege. Keep in mind that if you upgrade
especially a Plus-size model you also will need to buy a new case or cases
depending on what you like since the 7 Plus needs a much larger camera cut-out
to accommodate the dual lens camera. Then of course you will most likely want
to buy that Belkin adapter which allows you to use a headset and charge at the
same time and very quickly you need to add another $100 to your upgrade price
for these accessories. You may say that ultimately the Lightning splitter is
something you have to buy anyways and maybe the new case, but I would not at
all be surprised if Apple’s 10th Anniversary iPhone next year had wireless
charging which of course means you could easily charge and use the Lightning
headset since you wouldn’t really need the Lightning port for charging unless
you wanted to plug it in because you are travelling or on the go and have a
Lightning cable but not the wireless charging mat or dock or whatever apple
comes up with.

By upgrading you get a minor speed increase which you will most likely rarely
notice in real-life applications, you do get full waterproofness which I think
is one of the main features why one might want to upgrade and you get the
better camera. You also get a somewhat improved battery life. I have a 6S Plus
and while I like my gadgets I just can’t talk myself into upgrading especially
since I much rather spend the money on an Apple Watch, I also really want the
new Airpods when they come out in the near future and am in the process of
buying a new washer and dryer so I guess it comes down to priorities.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hey Marie. Try setting your punctuation to some. Somehow it got set to none

Hi,

You'll need to do this when setting up the alarm in the clock app. When you
double tap on the add button, you will see different items, like when the
alarm should repeat, and also on that screen is alarm sound. You can choose
from all your ring tomes, or you can pick a song to wake up to.

I actually noticed that when I tried to save a file the other day. When I
looked more closely, I just had to choose a location to save it. Once I chose
a location, then all worked fine.

Try swiping past the save button until you get to the choose location button.
When you get to where you want to save the file, there is a choose button at
the bottom of the screen that you have to double tap to choose that location.

It will then take you back to the save button, it should no longer be dimmed
out.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Re: iMessage standard SMS question

2016-10-17 Thread Gordon
In our case we have the same numbers we've always had. We both got our
iPhones at the same time and those messages then became iMessages. But
when I switched back to Android for a bit and was no longer using the
iPhone, I couldn't get messages from her anymore. So this would be a bad
thing in the event that something happened to your iPhone and you had to
temporarily go to a backup device for a few days. I'm back to my iPhone

So both me and my GF have iPhones. I temporarily switched to my Android
phone for a while. I can send her text messages and she gets them just
fine. However I don't get her text messages because it sends them as
iMessages. We tried everything, but it wont go back to regular sms
messages for me. Is there a way to tell the system that I'm not
currently using my iPhone and that it needs to see me as an sms instead
of iMessage?

Re: Apple Watch Voiceover voices

2016-10-17 Thread christopher hallsworth
I agree, it’s misinformation, and there’s no excuse for that, but changing the
VoiceOver voice isn’t where you would expect it, so someone new to Apple Watch
could be forgiven to thinking it can’t be done when it can. I had an idea it
could, as for one, the voice changed when I set the language to UK, and for
two, I’m used to this design thanks to me previously owning an Apple TV 3rd
generation. It was also the case with the 4th generation, but this has changed
in tvOS 10.

Also, his gf will have to go into settings, message, and turn on send as sms,
which is turned off by default, when iMessage is turned on. I think this is
unfortunate, it should remain on by default. Her phone will still send
iMessages as iMessages when sending to another Apple device.
