I would definitely be interested in being a tester if I can find a pharmacy

Hi All!
Amanda Tolson here from En-Vision America the makers of ScripTalk talking
prescription reader. Great news, we are currently beta testing our new IOS
ScripTalk App. It does still require using a participating pharmacy that
provides the RFID labels, but the number of participating pharmacies is growing
every day! You do need an IPhone 7 or higher to use the app because of
limitations Apple has set for developers of Apps that use RFID. Call us and we
can let you know what pharmacies participate. 800-890-1180. Oh, and if you’re

Re: bluetooth keyboard for iphone ios10 and above

2018-03-14 Thread Arlene
What are some of the best bluetooth keyboards? I called walmart tonight to
see what they had and they had their brand, they had about 4 models of
logitech, and a few made by blackwell. Some of those keyboards had the
number keypad. I don't know if the model of the phone matters but we have
the iphone se. I wonder how sturdy the foldup keyboards are.

Re: BlindSquare vs. Nearby Explorer

2018-03-14 Thread Kelly Pierce
The downside with Nearby Explorer is how NavTeq creates pedestrian
routs in big cities. Seeing Eye GPS had this same issue before it
switched to Google Maps. Navteq makes complicated routes with many
turns, likely maximizing the fewest number of steps in a route. By
contrast, Apple Maps or Google Maps creates simplified and streamlined
routes that are easy to understand and follow. If someone wants to
test this, try going to a location between one mile and 1.5 miles away
that is at a 45 degree angle from your current location.

Re: Book share an voice dream reader

2018-03-14 Thread Richard Turner
Are you downloading from within Voice Dream reader? You just want daisy.
Audio will be an mp3 that is done with their synthesizer, which I do not find
very good.
BRF, is just for braille displays.
You can pick any iOS voice, or purchase any number of other voices.
Open Voice Dream, select settings, select manage voices.
This is assuming you purchased Voice Dream Reader.
If there is a free version, then all bets are off.

when I want to download and read bookshare books I see using my iPhone that
there is a picker item list with different formats for downloading the book.
one is BRF one is audio one is Daisy with text and one is Daisy with images. It
says there are eight format choices but that does not appear to be true. The
question is if I do select audio versus Daisy with text are the fourmats being
downloaded all the same? Meaning does voice dream reader download everything to
a particular format?
I ask because I don't like the cheesy voice for reading the books that I'm
given through voice dream. I would much prefer to listen

to the books with the regular iOS voice that everything on my phone is spoken
through. Is there a way to do that? There does not appear to be a way to do
that. There
is the option to read now in the book opens in Safari and then there's
something about a particular program that's not accessible with speech and then
the book is there but there's no way to move through it even though there's a
next and a previous and stop button at the top of the page. I think you can
swipe line by line but that there's not enough control to make it worthwhile.
Is there an easy way to do what I'm trying to do?

If you select latest, it will organize your books by today, yesterday, one week

Not a bad way to go when reading in a few books at a time.
Searching the Wish list would be nice, but you can also use the table index to

Hi,

I have quite a list of books in my BARD audio books list. At any time,
I
have a couple that I’m toggling between – one that I’m reading with my
kids and one that is my personal choice, and maybe a cookbook. I’m
really
wishing there was some sort of Favorites list of such that would allow
for
easier toggling between current books. Is this something others would
like to see? I’d like to submit a recommendation, but wondered if others
think this would be useful.

Oh, and if you’re
interested in beta testing and have an IPhone 7 or higher let me know.

Good evening,

looking for a sturdy, folding keyboard to use with my Iphone 6s.

I would like keys of a good size for fairly fat fingers, reasonable
battery life, utilizing the apple keyboard layout.

I hope I have described these requirements accurately.

Logitech, Icon-x are but two manufacturers that I am aware of, doubtless
there are many more including apple themselves.

Your experiences welcome.

Book share an voice dream reader

2018-03-14 Thread Deidre Muccio
I hope this is not a completely idiotic question and something I should long to
go have understood.
when I want to download and read bookshare books I see using my iPhone that
there is a picker item list with different formats for downloading the book.
one is BRF one is audio one is Daisy with text and one is Daisy with images. It
says there are eight format choices but that does not appear to be true. The
question is if I do select audio versus Daisy with text are the fourmats being
downloaded all the same?

Graphene could charge your phone in 7 seconds, CNET

2018-03-14 Thread M. Taylor
Want to charge your smartphone in 7 seconds? Look to graphene
Graphene gets touted as a "wonder material" because of its unique
properties. Here are five potential real-world uses.
By Katie Collins, March 14, 2018 5:04 AM PDT

Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel and lighter than paper and often
referred to as a wonder material. But what can this substance actually do?

Fortunately, graphene had a chance to shine at last month's Mobile World
Congress trade show in Barcelona. Buried away at the furthest point from the
entrance to the convention center was the Graphene Pavilion, where around 25
different graphene-based research projects, including robotics and
wearables, were being shown off.
In the coming years some of these applications will go commercial and we'll
start to see graphene cropping up in phones, wearables and other technology.

Graphene is a thin layer of pure carbon atoms tightly packed in a honeycomb
structure. It isn't manufactured, but instead is extracted from graphite --
a process scientists only succeeded in developing in 2004. The result is a
2D substance that has a number of unusual and desirable traits, including
being extraordinarily thin, strong and flexible.

A graphene insole can be so thin as to make no discernible difference to a
shoe wearer.
Europe is where graphene was first isolated, and so convinced is the EU by
its potential that it's the basis of the bloc's biggest research initiative.
The billion-euro Graphene Flagship program, which hosted the Graphene
Pavilion, is dedicated to finding ways in which the material can be brought
to market.
Here's how graphene may be used in the future.

Smartphones
Graphene may have been hidden away at the back of the show this time around,
but in the coming years it could be responsible for some dramatic upgrades
to phone technology. As well as being flexible enough to be incorporated
into bendable phones in the form of antennas or touch displays, it also has
enormous potential for improving batteries -- often our biggest gripe when
it comes to our phones.
Graphene can be built into the batteries themselves to improve energy
storage and long-term performance, but it can also speed up energy transfer
between a power source and battery exponentially. It acts as a sort of
superhighway for charging, allowing energy to pass through it so quickly
that researchers believe it can charge a phone in 7 seconds.

So how long will this seemingly magical technology take to show up? A
decade? Kari Hjelt, head of innovation for Graphene Flagship, said it would
take as little as two years.
"It's still a young material, so we're actually quite amazed how much it has
developed in only 14 years," he said. "The thing with the graphene is that
it works in so many fields and in fantastic ways, so we have really pick the
ones that are the most promising for Europe and for business."
Phone technology is one obvious use, and 5G network tech is another --
Ericsson used graphene in its own 5G demo at the show. But it's not the only
area where the material can make a difference.

Robotics
One biomedical possibility for graphene is in the improvement of artificial
limbs.
By embedding graphene-based nerve sensors within the top of the limbs, a
person is able to sense and respond to contractions and other movements in
muscles. That helps them control the motion and force of a robotic limb.

Artificial limbs have come a long way in recent years, but they could get
even lighter and more responsive still.
As well as being light and noninvasive, graphene responds quickly to
pressure, ensuring natural movement and grip for the wearer. It could make
future generations of prosthetics more comfortable and responsive than ever
before.

Food identification
Due to graphene's ability to absorb light at almost every wavelength, it can
detect ultraviolet, visible and infrared light with the same image sensor.
A wide-spectrum graphene light camera can see details invisible to the human
eye, and in the demo we saw could differentiate between three different
types of milk -- rice, dairy and almond -- that all look the same.

Graphene could improve food safety.
In the future people, with food allergies could use their phone cameras to
tell if food is safe for them to eat.

Wearable tech
Graphene is also very flexible, making it ideal for wearable technology.
Researchers from the the Institute of Photonic Sciences in Spain have
integrated graphene into UV patches attached to the skin like any Band-Aid
might. The layer of graphene hidden inside is highly sensitive and can
measure heart rate and blood oxygen over skin as well as UV exposure,
providing a miniaturized system that can monitor your health.

Graphene can be embedded in stick-on UV sensors.
Graphene could also be added to smart shoes for benefits including sensing,
cooling and strength. A graphene in-sole from the University of Cambridge
can monitor pressure distribution for podiatry and athletic performance.

Oh, my God, yes! That feature would definitely be an absolute lifesaver? I have
an utterly enormous wishlist, and being able to search for books on it would be
incredibly useful! Also, I'd like to be able to search all items, Braille or
audio books, Braille or audio magazines, or music-related books.

Thanks,

Re: An App to read medication bottles?

2018-03-14 Thread Lynda Ingraham
Hi Tony,

I agree there are times when there are problems that exist. I switch to them
when the local pharmacy decided it was A-OK to lose controlled substances and
not report it to anybody. So we have worked with CVS/caremark for about a year
and a half now and things of been going much better. And always know that if
you have a problem with them you can report it to Medicare through your
insurance company or directly to Medicare. They really should be on top of
chemo drugs and other drugs that are life-saving.

If you tap on the jpeg that is below your introduction it should take you to

Re: BARD app - would this feature be helpful to others?

2018-03-14 Thread Wayne Merritt
If you're looking for great features to add, how about the ability to
search within your wish list for a book, rather than going down screen
by screen looking for it. If you have a small wish list then going by
screen isn't a big deal, but I've got over 200 books, and growing, on
my wish list, and going by screen can be a hassle at times.

RE: An App to read medication bottles?

2018-03-14 Thread Tony
I had nothing but problems with CareMark when my wife got her chemo from them a
couple of years ago. CVS was OK but when they combined the bottom fell out of
services.

They didn’t have anyone to talk to evenings or weekends and it took days to get
a return call.

The reading device is only available thru the company and you can sign up
over the phone in Conn.

Walgreens also has this.. I use digit eyes and does a great job. You can
record information you need...of course you all probably already know this.

Only if you use their mail order service.

They have no pharmacies anywhere near where I live.

I believe that CVS Caremark is available everywhere. It depends on whether your
health insurance covers it. They are nationwide distributor of medications.

So, I wrote to Seeing AI to ask if they could add a medication database to
their product channel. I do not know if bar codes are manufacturer specific or
universal based on the medication.

I'll let folks know what response I get.

Hello there, well I am not sure as to what they did, but they change the whole
site recently. It works fine in Google Chrome. I would’ve never known and less
I talked to the Apple representative that he said that menu was buried in there
so that we can actually access all the products

Hi,

Follow the Navigation Drawer link in the book's menu. There's a heading called
Table of Contents, and the chapters are listed below that. Double-tap the
chapter you want to go to.

Best,

Seeing AI appears to try to recognize medication, but it will only get

not sure if it's Seeing AI or my lack of skill with a camera.

Seeing AI appears to try to recognize medication, but it will only get up to
the really fast beeps and no farther no matter what I do. So I'm not sure if
it's Seeing AI or my lack of skill with a camera.

Hi,

I have quite a list of books in my BARD audio books list. At any time, I have
a couple that I’m toggling between – one that I’m reading with my kids and one
that is my personal choice, and maybe a cookbook. I’m really wishing there was
some sort of Favorites list of such that would allow for easier toggling
between current books. Is this something others would like to see? I’d like to
submit a recommendation, but wondered if others think this would be useful.

Kindle app - skipping forward big chunks

2018-03-14 Thread R Van Lant
I occasionally fall asleep while reading a book in the Kindle app. I can't
figure out how to navigate back by bigger chunks. In the book menu, I can see
the percentage and page number for where I am, but haven't found a gesture that
lets me move back by increments. So far, I've just gone back page by page. Is
there another option?

non-usable app with respect to voiceover.

I want to provide them with as much information as possible about financial
institutions that have good accessibility and usability. I would appreciate
your replying to this message if you use an accessible banking or credit union
app, indicating the name of the app.

RE: wanting to create a list of accessible banking/credit union apps

2018-03-14 Thread R Van Lant
I echo that the Bank of America app is accessible.
Unfortunately, the new KeyBank app has issues and I’m working with them to
try to get focus on this. It may be helpful to know that the las time I
detailed out the accessibility issues on Key’s old app and talked to the tech
guy oversseing the app, he told me that they outsourced development of the app
and used a firm that did other banking apps, so he was incredulous that they
had accessibility issues. The head of technology for Key is from Bank of
America, so I need to get word to her. Funny how someone could assume that
just because you outsource app development that the developer would
automatically be a genius about accessibility. At the same time that they
released the new app, they also overhauled the online banking website to make
it more touch screen friendly and it tanked the good accessibility I used to
have with the website. Since I work for KeyBank, this is a thorn in my side,
but I at least have access to the chain of authority, so I’m raising the issue.

Please help with website if possible

2018-03-14 Thread Dana
Hi everyone. I am not trying to sell anything, but I am having a real
problem with the website that I do use as a consultant to sell things and I
wondered if some of you could test this for me.
When I go to the website just so you know the first page comes up and it
works perfectly you have to click on the jpg to actually get to the next
page to see my website.
They did an update on the shopping cart yesterday and the problems started
ever since.
When I click on the jpg using my iPhone 8 with the latest IOS 11.26
installed, all the webpage says is the number one and index and site map and
a few other links. If I click on site map I can view the items that I
actually sell but they should come up right away. A friend using her SE
yesterday said it worked for her perfectly. She is on AT and I am on
Verizon.
I even tried to go to where it says share and then requested the desk top
site and it did the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as some people can view it and some
can't. I had my husband try it as well on his iphone 8 and it did the same
thing and we turned wi fi off and tried that too.

Here is the website if any of you are willing to try to help me.

Thanks

Dana

I know invasion America has a bar code reader just for this purpose, but your
state farmacys have to be on board. And the bar code reader for medication is
free.

Seeing AI appears to try to recognize medication, but it will only get up to
the really fast beeps and no farther no matter what I do. So I'm not sure if
it's Seeing AI or my lack of skill with a camera.

They have no pharmacies anywhere near where I live.

RE: An App to read medication bottles?

2018-03-14 Thread Tony
Many pharmacies are using Script Talk labels. They have a RFID chip and use a
small reader. It will tell you every thing that is on the label. There is no
charge for the labels or the reader.

There are one or two other talking label system in use by some pharmacies but
Script Talk seems to be the most widely used.

If interested I can give you a contact for the manufacturer and some pharmacies.

Tony

Hello everyone,

I was wondering, is there an App out there that can easily read description
bottles?

If so, how easy is it to work, if you are not very good at all with using the
camera?

Thank you,

Terri

Re: Reading Bar Codes on Bottles

2018-03-14 Thread Kliphton Miller
I know invasion America has a bar code reader just for this purpose, but your
state farmacys have to be on board. And the bar code reader for medication is
free.

Reading Bar Codes on Bottles

2018-03-14 Thread kelby carlson
Does anyone have strategies for reading bar codes on very small bottles, for
example medication? Seeing AI seems to have a very hard time narrowing in on
them.

RE: wanting to create a list of accessible banking/credit union apps

2018-03-14 Thread Tom Rash
Would you mind sharing that list with me. I am in communication with my credit
union as well, related to accessibility issues. Thanks.

Subject: wanting to create a list of accessible banking/credit union apps

Hi,

I am working with a local financial institution who currently have a non-usable
app with respect to voiceover.

I want to provide them with as much information as possible about financial
institutions that have good accessibility and usability. I would appreciate
your replying to this message if you use an accessible banking or credit union
app, indicating the name of the app.

Thanks in advance,

Keith

Re: wanting to create a list of accessible banking/credit union apps

2018-03-14 Thread Bill Gallik
I have several banking and online payment apps on my iPhone 6. These are:

BMO-Harris - BMO-Harris Bank has developed an extremely VO accessible app and I
think this would be an excellent example for others to follow.

Chase - provided by J.P. Morgan/Chase Bank and is quite accessible.

SmartHub - this is a generic online payment app that works with a number of
utility companies. I use this app to pay my REA electric bills and a local
telephone company.
