RE: The new Sonos Amp, available February 2019

2018-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, it is called simply the Sonos
Connect
and it has 1 RCA analogue input, 1 analogue RCA output as well as 1 Tosslink
Optical and 1 Coax Digital output so you can connect it to an older
amp/receiver via the left and right RCA connection or, if your receiver/amp has
Optical Digital or Coax Digital inputs use one of them. The link is for a
listing on Amazon, the Connect is $349 and it works great, I have 3 of them
although I currently only use 2 after upgrading some rooms at my house where I
had in-wall speakers powered by the old Connect Amp with a stereo set of Sonos
One speakers. This allowed me to take my Connect Amps to my business where I
used to have the Connect hooked up to an old Onkyo receiver.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Hi,

For all you Sonos fans here is the next gadget from Sonos for those who want
the Sonos experience but have great sounding bookshelf or freestanding speakers
or want to keep things inconspicuous with in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. The
new Sonos Amp replaces the old Connect Amp which started in 2006 as the ZP 100.
The Connect Amp allowed you to hook up regular speakers with speaker cable just
like you would to a receiver or amplifier and it delivered 55 Watts per channel
on twpo channels for a total of 110 Watts of stereo power.
The new Sonos Amp delivers up to 4 channels for two sets of speakers at an
impressive 125 Watts per channel, i.e. 250 Watts for a stereo pair and 500
Watts in total.
Of course it also supports Airplay 2 as all new Sonos devices do and it will
support Alexa and coming down the road Google Assistant but it does not have
built-in microphones (not sure how exactly that one will work).
It also has an HDMI ARC input so you can directly connect a TV and it has a new
form factor compatible with the old 19 inch rack standard at 1.5 rack units
tall (approx. 2.5 inches).
Professional installers will have access to it already on December 1 so they
get it about 2 months or so before the general public can buy it.
This answers a question I was wondering about which was whether Sonos at some
point would come out with an in-wall or in-ceiling version of their Sonos One,
Play 3 or Play 5. I guess this is the answer, they won’t probably because
providing in-ceiling or in-wall power to one of these stand-alone speakers may
not be practical so they continue to support regular built-in speakers with the
new and much more powerful Sonos Amp and accpording to the information provided
Sonos has partners with Sonance, the maker of a well-known line of such
speakers, to come out with a series of speakers especially designed to work
best with this new Sonos Amp.
The Sonos Amp will be $599 US and $799 Canadian.

When you download from the Audible library the file that shows in your download
folder has nothing in its name that gives you a hint that it’s the file you
just downloaded other than looking at the date and time. You don’t get the
actual filename until you run it through the Audible manager.

HI Susie.

My brother who is in the UK, was having the same problem.  Others were having
that problem too.

Audible.co.uk gave him these steps to follow in order to get downloads back on
his computer.

There is a software verification setting within your Account Details page,
which needs to be turned on. Once turned on, you should be able to download
your Audible book. Below we have included the steps on how to turn on this
software verification.

1. log into your Audible account.

2. Click on where it says Hi, and your name, and click on "Account Details".

3. Click on "Update Settings" tab on the left-hand side of the page.

4. Scroll down the page and you will see Software Verification. Please be sure
to turn this on.

5. Refresh or close the website, and re-open the Audible site, and everything
should be fine.

If you have any trouble, write back to me and i’ll ask him for the number, if
you are in the UK.

Hi,

This Is not my experience. If I am in the cloud section of my library and
double tap a book it starts downloading, a few seconds into the download it
will say “Ready to Play”. This means enough has downloaded so that if you want
you can start playing the book, but it always requires another double tap for
me.
Also, as Richard pointed out, once you double tap on a book to start it playing
the library screen with all your titles goes away and you are on the now
playing screen or, as Audible calls it, the “Player” screen. In fact, along the
bottom of the screen you have 5 tabs as follows:
My Library
Discover
Player
Me
More

If you double tap on the “Player” tab which is in the middle and just above the
home button, the now playing or player screen opens, it has a Close button at
the very top left, the album/book art/title is on the upper half of the screen
and on the lower half you have your play/pause button in the middle, jump back
or forward to the left and right of it and at the very bottom where the tabs
are on the main screen you have from left to right the following controls:
Narration Speed, Chapters, Sleep Timer and Bookmarks
If you want to jump back or forward by chapter you can double tap on the book
title and the Jump back and jump forward buttons bedcome Chapter backward and
Chapter forward, double tap the title again and it goes back to jump forward
and jump backward by the default interval of 30 seconds.
The Audible app for the iPhone is fantastic and for many many years it is the
primary way I consume Audible books. Now that I have Amazon Echo devices and an
Audible Canada account using the Echo speakers around my house including my
Sonos Play 1 speakers also works great and I have occasionally used the Windows
10 Audible app, but why listen on my computer if I have an Echo Dot beside my
bed and either an Echo speaker or Sonos speaker in any other room of my house
where I can just tell it to play whichever book I want.

have a “Clear” button and this is basically the clear all recents, if you
double tap it you get two options:
Clear All Recents or Cancel, these are buttons so as soon as you double tap
Clear all Recents your recent call list will be empty.

Hi Julie,

Here is what I do to edit the name of afolder (I am using a folder called
Home Automation as my example:
1. I find the folder for which I want to edit the name, Home Automation in
my example, and now I flick up or down to Edit Mode and double tap (just
as if I wanted to move an app)
2. Voiceover will say "Started Editing", now I flick up to Activate and
double tap
3. You hear the folder opening sound and Voiceover will say "Folder Name,
Home Automation, text Field"
4. Double tap and Voiceover will say "Folder name, text field is
editing,Home Automation, insertion point at end"
5. You now have the keyboard on the screen, you can double tap in the text
field to move to the beginning, move backwards or forward by whatever
movement unit you set on the rotor, you can backspace and type and there
is a "Clear All" button one swipe to the right of the edit field.
6. After you finish editing the name just double tap the "Done" button at
the bottom right of the keyboard.

You can also get to where you can edit the folder another way like this:
1. Double tap the folder to open it
2. Put focus on the first app in the folder or actually on any app if you
want.
3. Swipe up or down to "Edit Mode" and double tap, Voiceover will say
"started editing"
4. Swipe left until you get to the folder name, using my example it will
now say "Home Automation, text field", same as in step 3 above.
4. You can now double tap to start editing the text field and continue
with step 5 and 6 above.

I find the first method easier, instead of first opening the folder,
starting editing mode on one of the apps and moving back to the folder
name you simply do 4 simple gestures:
Swipe up, double tap, swipe up, double tap then double tap one last time

Also how can I edit name of a specific folder? There used to be an edit

Pulled over while connected: Siri can quietly video record the police
By Dalvin Brown, USA TODAY, Updated 2:10 p.m. PDT Oct. 4, 2018

This app lets you secretly record the police
Apple's Shortcuts has an add-on feature called "Police." The app uses
Siri

to covertly record law enforcement during a traffic stop.
Just say, "Hey Siri, I'm getting pulled over."
One of the latest apps to hit the iOS 12 mobile highway is Shortcuts.
With

it, users can plot out a series of actions and trigger them by signaling
the
voice-assistant. One savvy user created an add-on called Police that can
give drivers added security during traffic stops.
The brainchild of Redditer Robert Petersen of Arizona, Police was created
to
covertly record law enforcement officials to "keep everyone safe and
honest."
"I have noticed in reading news articles and seeing reports on TV that in
many cases you end up with police saying one thing happened and the
citizen
being pulled over saying another," Petersen said to USA TODAY. "And how
do

you determine truth? Sometimes the police have body cams, sometimes not,
and
even when they do it's not always released in a timely manner."
How does the shortcut work?

Weather Gods Applewatch complication time travel problem

2018-10-07 Thread 'Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.' via VIPhone
Hi,

I have an AppleWatch Series 3 running the latest public WatchOS.

Formerly, I could use TimeTravel with the Weather Gods complication.

Since updating to the latest iOS and Watch OS I cannot get Time Travel to work
with the complication on my modular watch face.

Has anyone else had this problem, or have advice for how to get it to work? I
have toggled on and off several times Digital Crown navigation, but neither
setting seems to work with Time Travel on my watch.

Thanks for any help. Keith

It's not available on the US Amazon at all. Only the inaccessible one.
So that's how it's not come up, a good number of us can't get one. I
did see the old one for $600, like I'd want to pay that of course.

Did you notice this statement at the end of the description of iPhone XR? I
find it strange. Does it mean that it may not be available in the markets
according to the dates given by apple in their conference?

“iPhone XR has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal

I find this qualification to be very interesting. I guess we will have to wait

There is no app, just follow Richard’s link to get the shortcut. But I suggest
you read my previous message wit my findings since I don’t think it’s really
worthwhile to have this. I find it too complicated and requiring still too many
interactions to be truly useful. If you were in a real emergency it would take
way too long to get this going, the only thing in such a situation which truly
works is what some people are doing which is to use a Go Pro or similar action
camera and attachit to yourself and record continuously any time you are out
and about, basically a way to have a body cam as is used by some police now to
constantly record any interaction which takes place.

Hi Julie,

Here is what I do to edit the name of afolder (I am using a folder called
Home Automation as my example:
1. I find the folder for which I want to edit the name, Home Automation in
my example, and now I flick up or down to Edit Mode and double tap (just as
if I wanted to move an app)
2. Voiceover will say "Started Editing", now I flick up to Activate and
double tap
3. You hear the folder opening sound and Voiceover will say "Folder Name,
Home Automation, text Field"
4. Double tap and Voiceover will say "Folder name, text field is
editing,Home Automation, insertion point at end"
5. You now have the keyboard on the screen, you can double tap in the text
field to move to the beginning, move backwards or forward by whatever
movement unit you set on the rotor, you can backspace and type and there is
a "Clear All" button one swipe to the right of the edit field.

4. Swipe left until you get to the folder name, using my example it will now
say "Home Automation, text field", same as in step 3 above.
4. You can now double tap to start editing the text field and continue with
step 5 and 6 above.

I find the first method easier, instead of first opening the folder,
starting editing mode on one of the apps and moving back to the folder name
you simply do 4 simple gestures:
Swipe up, double tap, swipe up, double tap then double tap one last time and
you are where you can edit the name.

Regards,
Sieghard

Pulled over while connected: Siri can quietly video record the police

This app lets you secretly record the police
Apple's Shortcuts has an add-on feature called "Police." The app uses Siri

How does the shortcut work?
Once Siri is alerted about the traffic stop, the program springs into

puts your phone in Do Not Disturb mode. Siri then sends a text message to
a

to start video recording myself.

OK, now I stopped writing for a while and actually tried this out. I downloaded
the shortcut, gave it the appropriate permissions and put my wife’s number in
as the contact. It does seem to work although there is still a fair bit of
interaction required. Here is what I found:

1. Yes, if your phone is locked and you tell SIRI “Emergency Video” which is
the phrase I recorded to launch the shortcut it simply tells you “You’ll need
to unlock your iPhone first”.
2. When the iPhone is unlocked and I say “Emergency video”, it says it’s
running the shortcut, it then takes quite a few seconds for the camera app to
open, focus appears to be on “Record” so it does this properly and I can double
tap to start recording. While it is doing this my wife already received a text
message saying that I was being pulled over by police and it provided my
longitude and latitude as well as the address, we were in our house and once it
gave the address perfectly, the second time I twas off by one or two house
numbers.
3. When I want to stop recording I do have to of course do this manually, then
I have to tap “Use this video” and only then the video is sent and I am asked
if I want to upload it to iCloud Drive or Dropbox. I tapped on Dropbox and gave
permission for it to access Dropbox, but on the following screen I did not see
any folders I have and it just had a button to “Upload here”. I tapped it and
going to my Dropbox afterwards a file with a .mov extension had been uploaded.
It was the first time I tried it, the second time I am not sure if I tapped on
“Upload Here” or if I cancelled it, but the second file did not get uploaded
and I thought it was silly that it kept asking me if I wanted to upload it
again giving me the option of iCloud Drive and Dropbox. It would make more
sense to me if you told it once and then this would be done automatically.

In short, the app does seem to work, but it does require afair bit of user
intervention. I assume in a normal incident of police interaction where you
simply want a record of said interaction this should work find, but of course
if you had in fact done something wrong or if the police officer felt he or she
needed to escalate the situation you may never have the chance to stop
recording the video and upload it although I guess maybe eventually somebody
wold or the phone would run out of memory or battery and the video may then
still be on your phone and could be used. I just actually went ot my All Photos
album and all 3 videos I created by running the app were there even though only
one had uploaded to Dropbox.

It would appear that shortcuts in general only run when the phone is unlocked
which makes calling shortcuts somewhat less useful. I created one to call my
store’s main number and called it “Call the store”. As I said, if I tell SIRI
to run it when the phone is locked it says it’s running it then it says “You’ll
need to unlock your phone first” so I might as well just say “Call my work”
which in fact uses my work number, SIRI knows who I am so saying “Call my work”
does result in SIRI correctly calling my own work number and this works also
when the phone is locked.

I also selected a shortcut for recording a voice memo with the iPhone’s voice
memo app. I called it “Record a voice memo”. If I run it it opens the voice
memo app and puts focus on the record button, but I still have to double tap it
to start recording.
Conclusion: much better to use the app RecUp and to set it so it starts
recording when the app is opened, this way I can say “Open RecUp” instead of
“Record a Voice Memo” and RecUp opens and starts recording right away. I
believe you can also set Just Press Record to record when the app is launched.

Final overall conclusion: shortcuts are great, but at this point have quite a
few limitations. I would like to see Apple to allow you to specify if a
shortcut can run on the lockscreen or not so that some shortcuts could do this
like one where you want to call somebody, take a picture or video, record a
voice memo etc. After all, the camera app is available from the lock screen as
well.

Best regards,
Sieghard

You must first unlock your iPhone”.
I assume you will of course have to unlock your phone if it is locked to run
the shortcut, then you tell SIRI to run it and you have to tap to start
recording.

Hi,

I read an article somewhere and it mentioned a new SIRI shortcut called

dim the iPhone screen and activate the camera to start recording the upcoming
interaction with the police officer.

I thought something like that could be a neat thing for a blind person to use
as well in certain situations where you might want a video or even just an
audio record of what was going on. I searched in the shortcuts app for “Police”
and couldn’t find anything. How does one go about finding these shortcuts other

RE: Siri Shortcut can discreetly record cops during traffic stops, USA Today

2018-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Julie,

Here is what I do to edit the name of afolder (I am using a folder called Home
Automation as my example:
1. I find the folder for which I want to edit the name, Home Automation in my
example, and now I flick up or down to Edit Mode and double tap (just as if I
wanted to move an app)
2. Voiceover will say "Started Editing", now I flick up to Activate and double
tap
3. You hear the folder opening sound and Voiceover will say "Folder Name, Home
Automation, text Field"
4. Double tap and Voiceover will say "Folder name, text field is editing,Home
Automation, insertion point at end"
5. You now have the keyboard on the screen, you can double tap in the text
field to move to the beginning, move backwards or forward by whatever movement
unit you set on the rotor, you can backspace and type and there is a "Clear
All" button one swipe to the right of the edit field.
6. After you finish editing the name just double tap the "Done" button at the
bottom right of the keyboard.

You can also get to where you can edit the folder another way like this:
1. Double tap the folder to open it
2. Put focus on the first app in the folder or actually on any app if you want.
3. Swipe up or down to "Edit Mode" and double tap, Voiceover will say "started
editing"
4. Swipe left until you get to the folder name, using my example it will now
say "Home Automation, text field", same as in step 3 above.
4. You can now double tap to start editing the text field and continue with
step 5 and 6 above.

I find the first method easier, instead of first opening the folder, starting
editing mode on one of the apps and moving back to the folder name you simply
do 4 simple gestures:
Swipe up, double tap, swipe up, double tap then double tap one last time and
you are where you can edit the name.

Sieghard

Nothing is as easy as it sounds.
There is no app, but the shortcut is downloadable from the guy's Redit page who
created it.
I'll give the link to that page shortly.
Once you download the app and add it to Siri, or just have it as one you can
tap on, you will be asked who you want to receive a text message that says "I'm
being pulled over," and who you want the video clip sent to, so you will need
to give access to your contacts so you can select someone for these two steps.
Then, when you run the shortcut for the first time, you will have to allow
access to the microphone.
There is a note that points out you will also have to manually start the
recording, and then stop it and select to use or keep the video. Then, it will
ask if you want to upload to iCloud etc.
Here is the link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/9huqiw/getting_pulled_over_by_police/

That is all I know.

Pulled over while connected: Siri can quietly video record the police
By Dalvin Brown, USA TODAY, Updated 2:10 p.m. PDT Oct. 4, 2018

This app lets you secretly record the police
Apple's Shortcuts has an add-on feature called "Police." The app uses Siri
to covertly record law enforcement during a traffic stop.

"And how do
you determine truth? Sometimes the police have body cams, sometimes not,
and

even when they do it's not always released in a timely manner."
How does the shortcut work?
Once Siri is alerted about the traffic stop, the program springs into
action
to pause any music that may be playing, turn down your screen brightness
and
puts your phone in Do Not Disturb mode. Siri then sends a text message to
a

designated emergency contact to let them know what's happening.
The front camera turns on to record video of the occurrence.
"When dealing with being pulled over and interacting with law enforcement,
you want as little distraction as possible, and that includes music,
bright
screens and notifications coming in," Petersen said. "You want to be
focused

on the encounter at hand and don't want any unnecessary distraction to
yourself or to law enforcement personnel."
Once users stop the recording, a copy of the video is sent to a specified
contact, the brightness returns to normal, and Do Not Disturb is disabled,
Petersen said.
While this application comes at a time when police surveillance is a hot
topic, Shortcuts isn't the first app to help document encounters with
police.
In 2017, the American Civil Liberties Union released an Android app called
"ACLU Blue" that allows people to record law enforcement and share those
recordings in a public forum. Another app in the Google Play store called
"I'm Getting Arrested!" enables anyone, with one click, to broadcast a
custom alert message in the event they are arrested, and there are several
others.
While he's proud of his creation, Petersen said he would be happy if no
one

ever needs to use it.
"My only goal with the Police shortcut is trying to help people stay safe
.
and honest," he said. "99.999 percent of the time you'll never need it,
but
if you end up in a situation where it ended up being a good idea, you'll
be

thankful you did."

Hi Peggy,

Find the Siri shortcut for your reading list. It's either in the short group
of Siri shortcuts at the beginning of that section of Siri Settings, or
under Voice Dream Reader in All Shortcuts. Then assign a phrase to it, like
"Play Voice Dream Reading List." then when you activate the shortcut, the
reading list will play, starting with the first item on the list.

BARD Mobile hasn't added Siri shortcuts yet, so while you can ask Siri to
open it, as you always have, there's no new Siri functionality.

Hi Anna apparently I have a glitch I even changed the name of whatever I called
it on the recording to play my reading list in Voice Dream, she says she’s
going to play it and then it sits there and does nothing or it cuts off and
goes into another app on my phone right now it will not play the book no matter
what I seem to do do you have any other suggestions?

Re: Siri shortcuts

2018-10-07 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Peggy,

Find the Siri shortcut for your reading list. It's either in the short group of
Siri shortcuts at the beginning of that section of Siri Settings, or under
Voice Dream Reader in All Shortcuts. Then assign a phrase to it, like "Play
Voice Dream Reading List." then when you activate the shortcut, the reading
list will play, starting with the first item on the list.

BARD Mobile hasn't added Siri shortcuts yet, so while you can ask Siri to open
it, as you always have, there's no new Siri functionality.

Police/I am being pulled over SIRI shortcut

2018-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

I read an article somewhere and it mentioned a new SIRI shortcut called
"Police" and in order to activate it one would say "Hey Siri, I'm being pulled
over". Apparently this would stop any music or other audio playing, it would
dim the iPhone screen and activate the camera to start recording the upcoming
interaction with the police officer.
I thought something like that could be a neat thing for a blind person to use
as well in certain situations where you might want a video or even just an
audio record of what was going on. I searched in the shortcuts app for "Police"
and couldn't find anything. How does one go about finding these shortcuts other
than scrolling in the gallery or trying a search term? Are these also country
specific like apps, e.g. some shortcuts might be available in the US but not in
Canada and other countries?

Regards,
Sieghard

Siri Shourtcut suggestions

2018-10-07 Thread 'Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.' via VIPhone
Hi,

I went in to Siri Suggestions and activated options for Safari.

I was surprised to find every page I've visited in the past week or so listed
there as possible Siri shortcuts. I picked the several I wanted for making a
shortcut, and that went well.

But, how do I get rid of all those other visited web pages? Do they just drop
off after a period of time? If so, can I adjust the timeframe of how long Siri
keeps them there? Or do I just have to delete my Safari history?

Thanks in advance. Keith

2018-10-07 Thread englishrider91
Richard, thanks for reminding me about this. I'd seen it mentioned on the list
before, but I haven't had a problem with updates until now. I'll make sure this
is part of my routine from now on when checking the App Store for updates.

I still need to check to see if my problem has been fixed. I saw it mentioned
in the release notes, but you never know.

Thanks,

Well, there are plenty of products that are not available in Canada. So I guess
it’s only fair. But it is too bad, assuming that whatever app you have to use
with it would be accessible. It would be good to have it available everywhere.

I actually realized after I went back to Amazon that at this point it is only
available for preorder.
I wrote to Instant Pot support to ask about it, if I get a reply I’l lshare it.
Of course since Instant Pot is canadian they may just have decided that given

It is listed for $199 Canadian which means it will probably cost $149 in the US
and it shows as first available on Amazon Canada on August 1, 2018.

I know the discussion has come up multiple times earlier this year and I’m

Hi Fazil,

For next time you are back in Pakistan keep in mind that if you have a
reasonably large external battery such as a 10,000 MAH or 12,000 MAH or more
you should be able to charge something like the logitech K810 from said battery

Hi Fazil,

For next time you are back in Pakistan keep in mind that if you have a
reasonably large external battery such as a 10,000 MAH or 12,000 MAH or more
you should be able to charge something like the logitech K810 from said battery
which may work more reliably.

The new Sonos Amp, available February 2019

2018-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

I guess this is the answer, they won't probably because
providing in-ceiling or in-wall power to one of these stand-alone speakers may
not be practical so they continue to support regular built-in speakers with the
new and much more powerful Sonos Amp and accpording to the information provided
Sonos has partners with Sonance, the maker of a well-known line of such
speakers, to come out with a series of speakers especially designed to work
best with this new Sonos Amp.
The Sonos Amp will be $599 US and $799 Canadian.

New Instant Pot WiFi - how did that one slip by the list?

2018-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

I just saw a Google headline that instant Pot came out with a blender called
"Ace". It is similar to a Nutri Bullet except it has a larger, 1.75 Litre glass
pot with 8 stainless steel blades and an embedded heating element so you can
blend cold for smoothies and such or you can choose one of four hot programs
which blend and cook at the same time for making soups etc.

When I went to Amazon Canada to check the cost of this gadget I also saw a
listing for an apparently new smart cooker, here is the link:

Instant Pot Smart WiFi Electric Pressure Cooker, 6 Quart,
Silver
It is listed for $199 Canadian which means it will probably cost $149 in the US
and it shows as first available on Amazon Canada on August 1, 2018.

I know the discussion has come up multiple times earlier this year and I'm
surprised nobody has posted anything about this.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: apple watch series 4 ATT users?

Hello Sarai,

Here is what I think is happening.

It appears that you have the original A T & T unlimited, or legacy unlimited,
plan. That plan, which is no longer offered, cannot be bundled with current
services.

Now A T & T does offer new unlimited plans that, for example, among other
things, allows you to use your phone as a hotspot but, to take advantage of
this, you must let go of your old unlimited plan.

I have been struggling with this decision, myself, so I know of what I speak.
(smile)

Now you may be wondering why anyone would continue to hold onto the old,
legacy, unlimited plan. The answer is a little complicated but, in a nutshell,
because of FCC rulings, in the past, A T & T cannot throttle anyone on the
original plan. So, should you decide to opt into any of the new unlimited data
plans, at some point, the speed of the data will be throttled. In A T & T's
defense, the amount of data one is permitted each month, at high speed is more
than reasonable but ..

I don't remember the throttle threshold but I think it's around 22GB per month.
As much time as I spend online, using my data, I have never used more than
0.5GB a month. Okay, maybe once, I went as high as 1GB.

This entire subject is somewhat fascinating because Verizon offered the same
plan, back in the day but, because they were not specifically mentioned in the
FCC ruling, they were allowed to simply bump people off of their old legacy
plan. At that time, Verizon didn't even offer a replacement unlimited plan.

I’m certain that A T & T would have loved to have done the same but, the FCC
would not allow it. As a result, A T & T cannot simply bump all of us
old-timers off of the only remaining truly unlimited data plan in the country.
They can, however, isolate it from other service features and increase the cost
of the plan, as they have done several times, now.

At some point, you will have to decide if hanging onto the legacy data plan is
worth it to you or not.

As for me, as I am both a Verizon Wireless and tMobile subscriber, with many
options available, I have decided to hang onto the old A T & T legacy unlimited
data plan a little longer. (smile)

I hope this helps clarify things, a little.

Mark

Thanks Maria. I’ve been looking for those steps myself. I had to do that some
months ago and had forgotten since they walked me through it.

Thanks.

Maria

  Hi,

This Is not my experience. If I am in the cloud section of my library and
double tap a book it starts downloading, a few seconds into the download it
will say “Ready to Play”. This means enough has downloaded so that if you want
you can start playing the book, but it always requires another double tap for
me.

Also, as Richard pointed out, once you double tap on a book to start it
playing the library screen with all your titles goes away and you are on the
now playing screen or, as Audible calls it, the “Player” screen. In fact, along
the bottom of the screen you have 5 tabs as follows:

  My Library

  Discover

  Player

  Me

  More

If you double tap on the “Player” tab which is in the middle and just above
the home button, the now playing or player screen opens, it has a Close button
at the very top left, the album/book art/title is on the upper half of the
screen and on the lower half you have your play/pause button in the middle,
jump back or forward to the left and right of it and at the very bottom where
the tabs are on the main screen you have from left to right the following
controls:

While any audio is playing, the two finger double tap will pause it whether
it is a book that is downloading in the background or not.

To Mark's point, if you select the device button, you will find the narration
speed, chapters, sleep timer and clip buttons along the bottom of the screen.
Once you have started a book playing.

Thanks!

Hi, list.

My Logitech810 keyboard is not pairing to my iPphone5S. Does. I get
connection-failure error message. Does the keyboard need battery replacement?

Thanks!
