Hi All,

I'm in the market of replacing my current Reizen blood pressure
testing machine, mainly because it's almost 20 years old and seems
to be reporting irraticly.

The hose doesn't seem to have any cracks, and the hose seems to
plug in an seal sufficiently

So, I'm looking for a replacement device and would like to get
opinions of some good talking blood pressure testing machines from
all you good folks.

All input is greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.  Thanks

Hi Wren,

Someone already sent the instructions to label a photo, so I’ll send ones
explaining how to send them.
1. Open the photo you want to send.
2. Double tap the share button
3. Choose either a message to someone or mail or however you wish to send it
4. Type in their information and then double tap send.

Hope this helps,

The voice guided Face ID setup using VoiceOver is pretty clock free. Then the
only time you’ll need to passcode your phone is when wearing a mask. I’ve never
gotten face recognition with a mask. Hats kinda throw it for a loop as well. If
you use sunglasses you are allowed 2 versions of your face, as long as you use
your natural face first. Accuracy is a good 95% when you raise your phone for
access.

Hi List,

I need some advice. I’m in process of setting up a new iPhone 13 Mini. I got it
connected to my iPhone SE 2020 to do the device to device transfer. I got this
started and got face ID set up and then I was prompted to update the new iPhone
to iOS 15.01 which I began. This has been going on for about an hour and I’m
losing patience. I’m also curious why in the world a new device is set by
default to turn off after about 30 seconds. I’m having to touch the screen
every 30 seconds to prevent the device from going to sleep which I believe will
stop the iOS update. I’m hesitant to do a cold reset with the volume up, volume
down, and power buttons but I’m losing patience.

I welcome your recommendations and thanks in advance.

has this certification, Apple has vouched them safe to use with their iPhones
or iPads.

It's really not all about greed on Apple's part. They genuinely feel they offer
a better charging system. More likely, that it was a better system until fairly
recently. At this point though, similar to the fate of the technically superior
Betamax video tapes, the USB C standard has simply gained market dominance. I
think Apple will have to bow to the inevidable and give up on Lightning
charging withing perhaps the next three iterations of iPhone at the longest.

I have one USB C adaptor and USB C to Lightning cable. They're at my desk where
I think it most likely that I'll need speedy charging. I have my older
Lightning chargers and cables everywhere else. Although I very much like
Magsafe, I can't use it with the case I picked. The Apple Magsafe clear cases
really don't give me confidence that they offer much protection at all. In the
end, my desire for actual protection won out and I went with a Supcase Unicorn
Beetle case for my new iPhone 13. I have a third party wireless charging pad
which I still find convenient if somewhat more fidly to get the iPhone in the
right position. It is able to charge through the protective case allowing me to
use my Lightning port for earpods.

You don't have to keep the screen alive, it will update just fine with the

Subject: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

RE: thinking about iPhone 13 pro but worried about face id

It is really simple. I don't think people realize, until they use face ID and

I don't find it difficult. Just hold the iPhone out in front of you vertically
at around a foot away. Start with the top of the iPhone level with your nose.
Perhaps, a little higher. When the FAce ID setup telss you to, imagine the
front of your face as a crank handle you need to turn to the right. You need to
move your head so that the camera at the top of the front of your iPhone gets
to see your whole face. Another step has you turning your face from side to
side. You may have to go through the process two or three times to get it rhght
and catch all of the instructions since they can get cut off as the camera
takes in your face. It's not a very long process. It takes less than a minute.
After you're finished and it's satisfied that the model of your face that it
has built is good, you just have to turn your face toward the iPhone when
required and it will unlock. You'll hear a click sound when it's unlocked. You
then use the home gesture by touching the bottom of the iPhone screen and
sliding your finger up until the second bump and high pitched tick. Lift your
finger and you'll be on your home screen. Very simple.

I’m in New Zealand so well on the underside of the globe,

This device was suggested by a lot of folks in the USA
And the app to use is called
:Qardio”
But yeah once it arrives I can give a bit of a run down on it for you.
I believe it speaks the test results to you when you take the test.

And the app I believe lets you share the results with your doctor via the net
and or from the app.

But hey I’ll let you know.

I'm in the market of replacing my current Reizen blood pressure testing
machine, mainly because it's almost 20 years old and seems to be reporting
irraticly.

The hose doesn't seem to have any cracks, and the hose seems to plug in an seal
sufficiently

So, I'm looking for a replacement device and would like to get opinions of some
good talking blood pressure testing machines from all you good folks.

All input is greatly appreciated and graciously accepted. Thanks mooy moocho.

Stay safe & take care. Mike.
Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say: "Close Enough!"

RE: thinking about iPhone 13 pro but worried about face id

2021-10-10 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hey Dennis,

I’d be pretty right in saying you shouldn’t have an issue with setting up a 13
pro iPhone!

It’s not really that different from any other phone you’ve set up,

And voiceover gives good prompts as to what / how to do things with face id
setup
And voiceover also disables the attention feature in face id

So give it a go,
You should be fine.

RE: thinking about iPhone 13 pro but worried about face id

2021-10-10 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Fing print or touch ID hasn’t been available on any of the face id phones apple
have produced.
The last touch Id phone from apple ws the SE 2020
And before that the 8 and 8+.

But don’t let this put you off as the face id phones are great and just as if
not more useable than the phones with touch id.

Where do I find the moon phases in the native Weather app?I found everything
else that has been described as new layout. I’ve played with containers a bit
for the first time, not something I ever thought useful as a total. I’m
intrigued by this new audio graph stuff. I noticed it the other day when minute
by minute precipation was present. How does the audio graph work?

I called AppleCare about the new iPhone still updating when the screen has gone
to sleep and the rep said it should still update. I’m not sure I’m convinced.
After waiting almost 3 hours for the iOS 15.01 upgrade, I rebooted the new
iPhone and am now getting a screen that says reconnecting. There is a Cancel
button in the upper left corner of that screen and when I double tap on it, I
get a message asking me if I’m sure I want to stop transferring data which will
cause the iPhone to be reset and erased. I’m assuming the transfer is the
redownload of my 250+ apps from the App Store. When I get up in the morning, I
will check the status and if it is still transferring data, I’m going to reset
and start again. For one who has been using these devices as long as I have, I
think Apple could do a far sight better at making the setup process easier and
more intuitive.

When I got into a long delay, I called Apple Accessibility and ended up having
to reboot both phones at the same time.

The update probably has to finish before it will let you do squat.

I've given feedback to Apple before about the 30 second (explitive) but it will
take a lot more feedback to get them to change that I guess.

Perhaps we all need to put it to them as an accessibility issue and have new
phones switch to never, or 5 minutes as sooon as VoiceOver is turned on.

Good luck.

Re: Voice Dream Writer odd invisible feature?

2021-10-10 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
Thanks, Richard! Now that I understand their purpose, that’ll make more sense!
It is only an extra few swipes to the right to get to what I am used to, after
all.

RE: Voice Dream Writer odd invisible feature?

2021-10-10 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Harry,
That is very useful. It is how you navigate a document quickly, like in Voice
Dream Reader.
The buttons related to that are below the document text.
Maybe he could add an option to hide those buttons when you are not editing,
just reading.
I don't mind the layout as is.
Or, perhaps documents should open in read-only mode until you activate the Edit
button.

add new document. Is it possible to get rid of this new feature or does it
serve some essential purpose?
Thanks

RE: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

Apple could make this easier.
The Apple Accessibility rep had me reset both phones at the same time and you
have to do the camera reconnect again, but it worked well.

Good luck.

Hi List,

I need some advice. I’m in process of setting up a new iPhone 13 Mini. I got it

to iOS 15.01 which I began.

The one thing that might be very helpful is to not set up the attention. Keep
attention off because that way if you end up not looking directly into the
camera it won’t matter.

Re: Charging iPhone 13 Mini

2021-10-10 Thread Charles Spicer
Good morning Cleverson and all! Thank everyone for their responses
and I will be using my old charging blocks!
I am very pleased with the iPhone 13 mini so far. I came from an
iPhone 7 and find the performance and snappiness of the 13 mini much
better. The setup went smoothly as I brought the iPhone home and
updated it by placing it right next to my iPhone 7. I have tested the
sound with the internal speakers and find it to have a decent sound
and with a definite improvement from my iPhone 7. I have gotten 2
days of moderate use before charging the battery. The USBC is faster
than the USBA but does produce more heat which I agree with others on
the list can shorten the battery life. I have used the speaker phone
on a call and the other person came through very clear and with a good
volume. I have used the earpiece on calls and find the caller clear
and at a good volume. I have used my airpods for other calls and have
no issues hearing the caller or the caller hearing me. A friend
commented that the sound they get on their end of a call is improved
over my iPhone 7.
I hope this has helped and please reach out if you have any questions.

Regards,
Charles

RE: Question about pluggable foldable Bluetooth keyboard

2021-10-10 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm not familiar with this keyboard, but you want to hold down the control and
options keys in conjunction with other keys. The control+options keys held down
together is called the VO key. You can also turn on quick navigation by holding
down the left and right arrow keys at the same time. This will let you do a lot
without having to use the VO key. Richard's web page has a lot of good
resources. It's at Richard Turner's Home Page
(turner42.com)

Subject: Question about pluggable foldable Bluetooth keyboard

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone on this list has used or uses a pluggable foldable
Bluetooth keyboard with their iPhone?
I can't seem to remember what the keyboard commands is to use VO commands.
Right now when my phone is connected, I can swipe to things on my phone but I
cannot activate anything with double tap gestures using the keyboard. I can
type into search fields and if I use the up and down arrows I can activate the
context menus but can't activate anything. I've actually even tried using
space bar and the enter key as I would on a laptop keyboard but if memory
serves there are actual keyboard commands to evoke VO functions when using a
blue tooth keyboard.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try turning screen recognition off. Maybe that’ll work better. I didn’t realize
my screen recognition was on for my messages and it went crazy. I turned it off
and allh was good.

Hi all,
I thought I would try these out. I turned them on in the watch app, but the
watch is not responding to the clenches or pinches. I've restarted my watch.

Thanks in advance

RE: Charging iPhone 13 Mini

2021-10-10 Thread Christopher Chaltain
When my wife bought an iPhone 12 Pro last summer at an Apple store, we were
given the choice of a new adapter, but we weren’t told anything negative about
the old adapter other than it’ll take longer. BTW, we did decide to purchase a
new adapter. IMHO, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using one adapter
over the other.

You definitely won't damage your device by charging it with an older USB A
lightning charger. The same goes for power banks which use USB A ports. It's
all absolutely safe to use. The newer adaptors and cables simply offer
significantly greater speed delivered safely. Apple can vouch for its own
adaptors so they may offer a greater degree of safety. They have a
certification called MFI for third party accessories. If a power bank or cable
has this certification, Apple has vouched them safe to use with their iPhones

This is only my opinion, but I'll bet, over time, the battery life would be

charged, the better. But Apple does not want their competition to have fast
charging capability and they don't have it, or if only they have it, they can
use the fact that they have it as a selling point, it is all about the dollar,
you know. Besides, if fast charging ends up shortening the battery's life, they

Hello, I hope everyone is safe and well. When I purchased my iPhone
13 mini the representative told me that it is not recommended to use the
charging block and cables that we all have from buying prior iPhones. She
advised that it may damage the battery and it is recommended to use the new

Has anyone heard this and do you agree with only using the new charging blocks

Thank you!

Good morning.

I seem to be having a focus issue on the new IOS 15 mainly when using screen
recognition.

Sometimes VO will say direct touch area and I have to turn VO off and on again
to be able to navegate again.

I was wondering if this is related to the new issue feature introduced on IOS
15?

Good luck.

I welcome your recommendations and thanks in advance.

Re: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

2021-10-10 Thread Mickey Quenzer
Hello Allen:
The best thing I would suggest you do if you’re still having trouble with the
set up is to get iTunes running on either the Mac or a PC. Make sure you are
running the latest iTunes software version. Another words check for updates
before you connect your iPhone 13.
then plug your iPhone 13 in.
Reboot using the volume up volume down side button hold the side button until
you hear your iPhone connect.
Then you should be able to continue the update and it will work. What I found
is the iPhone 15 software is too big and needs to be using the iPhone iTunes
program to do the old update method as we used to do a long time ago. This
method is still used when you were having trouble with an over the Air app
update.

Good luck.

No need to worry.
It's very simple to set up FaceID and VoiceOver will guide you as you go a long.
VO will tell you to look into the camera and help you to get your face
in center, look left, look/turn right, face up left etc etc.
Works very nice and btw you are not required to use FaceID though.
I really love face ID.

Re: thinking about iPhone 13 pro but worried about face id

2021-10-10 Thread Michael Feir
I don't find it difficult. Just hold the iPhone out in front of you
vertically at around a foot away. Start with the top of the iPhone level
with your nose. Perhaps, a little higher. When the FAce ID setup telss you
to, imagine the front of your face as a crank handle you need to turn to
the right. You need to move your head so that the camera at the top of the
front of your iPhone gets to see your whole face. Another step has you
turning your face from side to side. You may have to go through the process
two or three times to get it rhght and catch all of the instructions since
they can get cut off as the camera takes in your face. It's not a very long
process. It takes less than a minute.
After you're finished and it's satisfied that the model of your face that
it has built is good, you just have to turn your face toward the iPhone
when required and it will unlock. You'll hear a click sound when it's
unlocked. You then use the home gesture by touching the bottom of the
iPhone screen and sliding your finger up until the second bump and high
pitched tick. Lift your finger and you'll be on your home screen. Very
simple.

Re: Charging iPhone 13 Mini

2021-10-10 Thread Michael Feir
You definitely won't damage your device by charging it with an older USB A
lightning charger. The same goes for power banks which use USB A ports.
It's all absolutely safe to use. The newer adaptors and cables simply offer
significantly greater speed delivered safely. Apple can vouch for its own
adaptors so they may offer a greater degree of safety. They have a
certification called MFI for third party accessories. If a power bank or
cable has this certification, Apple has vouched them safe to use with their
iPhones or iPads.
It's really not all about greed on Apple's part. They genuinely feel they
offer a better charging system. More likely, that it was a better system
until fairly recently. At this point though, similar to the fate of the
technically superior Betamax video tapes, the USB C standard has simply
gained market dominance. I think Apple will have to bow to the inevidable
and give up on Lightning charging withing perhaps the next three iterations
of iPhone at the longest.
I have one USB C adaptor and USB C to Lightning cable. They're at my desk
where I think it most likely that I'll need speedy charging. I have my
older Lightning chargers and cables everywhere else. Although I very much
like Magsafe, I can't use it with the case I picked. The Apple Magsafe
clear cases really don't give me confidence that they offer much protection
at all. In the end, my desire for actual protection won out and I went with
a Supcase Unicorn Beetle case for my new iPhone 13. I have a third party
wireless charging pad which I still find convenient if somewhat more fidly
to get the iPhone in the right position. It is able to charge through the
protective case allowing me to use my Lightning port for earpods.

Voice Dream Writer odd invisible feature?

2021-10-10 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
When I open VDR and use dots 1-2-3 chord on Orbit Writer expecting to land on
file manager, instead I land on an invisible (according to my sighted wife) row
of buttons which VoiceOver describes as about choosing Lowest Level: headings,
paragraph, sentence (selected) or edit. Only after moving right past these
invisible options each time can I get to what I normally want - file manager or
add new document. Is it possible to get rid of this new feature or does it
serve some essential purpose?
Thanks
Harry

RE: Blood Pressure Testing Device Opinions

2021-10-10 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Mike,

I’d love to tell you abou the qardio arm blood pressure monitor I have,

But although I’ve ordered and paid for it,

It hasn’t’ yet arrived at my door,

Some globle issue with shipping thingns

But it’s the one that was recommended by many blind / visually impaired folks.

So I only hope it’s worth the wait.

Subject: Blood Pressure Testing Device Opinions

Hi All,
