Re: Eloquence doesn't take any parameter modification after upgrading.

2023-09-19 Thread Evan Reese
I have an iPhone 12, and I have been using the Eloquence voice. I was
looking forward to trying out that bunch of new settings that I heard in
the demo. But after upgrading to iOS 17, I go into the per voice
settings as in the demo, but I cannot hear any changes in the voice when
I change the Eloquence settings as it does on the demo. I can hear
changes when I preview settings, but I don't see any way to activate them.

Does anyone know why I can't get this to work right?

Evan

Watch OS 10 and switching watch faces

2023-09-19 Thread khaffar
Hi everyone:

Any idea how to switch faces with Watch OS 10. It use to be that a two-finger
swipe will move to the next face. This does not seem to work with this update.

Thank you,

RE: Issue With Spectrum Mobile App Accessibility

2023-09-19 Thread Debbie Downey
That is what I was afraid of; someone else on another list has the SE 2022 and
has these issues. I bet if we got the newer phones without the home button
especially the iPhone 13, or higher that this wouldn't be an issue but who
knows?

If you call the accessibility department, they don't know anything about the
app, only the cable boxes from what it seems.

Very impressed with Eloquence on my iPhone.

2023-09-19 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

Last year I tried Eloquence on my iPhone. It sounded like it was
overmodulating, and lowering the volume didn't fix it. In iOS 17, this seems to
be fixed. I'm happy about this, and am using it as my voice of choice.

Just sharing my good thing for the day.

Finding downloaded videos on my iPad mini

2023-09-19 Thread Mary Otten
Somehow, I have managed to get a few videos on my iPad mini. This is according
to the listing that shows up when you go into settings and then hit about. It
tells you how many songs you have, how many apps, etc. And one of the things it
says is that I have 12 videos. I do not want any videos, and I don’t know how
to go about finding them so I can get rid of them. I have no videos on my
Phone, so I’m really not at all sure how I managed to get 12 videos onto my
iPad. Anyway, if somebody has a clue how I can find and nuke these suckers,
that would be great.

Issue With Spectrum Mobile App Accessibility

2023-09-19 Thread Ron Canazzi

Hi Group,

i got my first iPhone in March of 2019. I installed the Spectrum Mobile
App for iPhone in June of 2019. The app worked perfectly and was totally
accessible until yesterday. The app updated and now I have difficulty
navigating the interface. The app opens with a group of new filters, but
setting and navigating this screen is almost impossible. Gone are the
simple 'all channels' and 'simple Favorites' navigation screen when a
single swipe right or left moved you up and down the screen from channel
to channel and a simple double tap launched the selected channel.

Has anyone else noticed this or am i missing something as far as
adjustments or is this the new order of things with respect to the app?
If so, and if people want to keep using the app, I suggest you give
feedback through the developer website or the feed back link within the
app settings.

Re: Some issues with the iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 17

2023-09-19 Thread Dana Leet

Thank you so much for letting me know about these things. I did end up calling
Apple Accessibility and what was happening is both of our phones were
connecting to each other so if you ever see that and you actually have two
iPhones, it seems like AirDrop is connecting both of the phones together for
some reason.

Re: Traveling and using The Wallet App

2023-09-19 Thread Alan Lemly
I typically purchase my airline tickets using a browser and my desktop computer. I have apps for the airlines I purchase tickets from on my iPhone 13 Mini. I'll receive emails which include my itinerary as well as the 24 hour notification when it is time to fetch my boarding pass. I will go to the airline app to add those boarding passes to my wallet. I don't expect you will be able to add a pdf file of your ticket or boarding pass to your wallet. Alan Lemly Sent from my iPhoneOn Sep 19, 2023, at 1:15 PM, Mohammad Fazil wrote:

If your flight leaves on February 29, 2024 and let's assume it leaves at 3 PM, then you can check in to your flight and obtain your boarding pass on February 28 at 3 PM or later. Once you wait until that time and check in, your boarding
pass will be displayed at the very end of the check-in process and at that time there should be a button which allows you to add it to the wallet.

The wallet app is for things like credit/debit cards you set up for Apple Pay, loyalty cards and, in the case of travel, boarding passes etc.
I don't think you can have your actual itinerary in the wallet app, this should be easily available in the Expedia app.
I use electronic boarding passes with Air Canada all the time, but as I said, once you get the email that you can now check in for your flight, you can then add the boarding pass at the end of the check-in process and of course it is best

Good morning everyone,

I’m going to ask a few questions I hope aren’t dumb. Regarding this particular topic, I am just learning, and after watching some videos and reading about it, I thought I might try taking advantage.
I understand that people are able to save things such as flight itineraries, IDs, and other things in the Wallet app. Has anyone done it, and how easy is that to do?
I will be taking a trip in a couple weeks. I purchased my tickets through Expedia and thought I could save that information to my wallet app so that I can quickly access everything when it’s time to go or when I need to check in. In looking
at options within the Expedia app, there aren’t any. In looking at what I can add to the wallet itself, there aren’t options there either.
Am I going about this whole process the wrong way? Should I maybe not bother with this app and stick with other apps or methods?
I find it so cool that many people are just showing their tickets from their phones or that they are keeping track of their trip via their phones and figured it would be a good thing for me as well.
Thoughts?
Jim

I understand that people are able to save things such as flight itineraries,
IDs, and other things in the Wallet app. Has anyone done it, and how easy is
that to do?
I will be taking a trip in a couple weeks. I purchased my tickets through
Expedia and thought I could save that information to my wallet app so that I
can quickly access everything when it’s time to go or when I need to check in.
In looking at options within the Expedia app, there aren’t any. In looking at
what I can add to the wallet itself, there aren’t options there either.
Am I going about this whole process the wrong way? Should I maybe not bother
with this app and stick with other apps or methods?
I find it so cool that many people are just showing their tickets from their
phones or that they are keeping track of their trip via their phones and
figured it would be a good thing for me as well.
Thoughts?

There is something you can do and that is to file this as a complaint with
Apple Accessibility. Keep in mind that if nobody officially complains about it
then it is unlikely anything will be done about it. If several hundred
complaints are received then Apple may take it more serioously.

Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it

Apple's new notification sound is too quiet, iOS 17 and other than some
settings in specific apps, there's no way to fix it.

By: MALCOLM OWEN
SEPTEMBER 19, 2023 11:31 AM EDT
Apple rolled out iOS 17 on Monday, complete with a long list of features and
updates. One quiet change was the notification sound, named Rebound, which is a
replacement for the well-known Tri-tone alert.

The problem is that it's a literal quiet change. People are complaining that it
is not loud enough to be really useful as a notification sound.

In posts to X, formerly known as Twitter, users complain that the default
notification tone in iOS 17 is too quiet "even at full volume."

Part of the issue is there's no way to alter the sound. There's no option
within the various settings of iOS 17 to adjust just the notification sound to
make it louder.

Users who prefer the sound of the Tri-tone alert are also unable to get that
back either, as you cannot change the default sound in iOS 17.

At this stage, there's nothing that users can do except complain to Apple about
it. It is unclear if Apple will include extra settings in an iOS 17 update that
enables notification sounds to be altered, but if there's enough noise about
the problem, it could become a reality in the future.

Running IOS17 on the regular 14 model, when flicking down say from a message in
a list of messages that are not unread will give you a choice of marking it as
read as usually does, no problem there but when I for instance say activate
that option, voiceover, instead doesn't read it as "read" instead it sounds
like a few Consonants like the letter R, the letter S, the letter, T, the
letter D, for example altogether instead of the word read. Not sure if you are
all experienceing this as well but try flicking dow on an unread message just
for fun, and when it says mark as read, double tap and take note of how it
sounds. It doesn’t matter what voice you use by the way I’ve used to them all
in this test and can confirm it sounds very strange to hear, irdst at least
this is the closest I could come to creating how it sounded to me, but anyway,

RE: Traveling and using The Wallet App

2023-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
As I explained, you only get a boarding pass when you check into your flight
and this can only be done within 24 hours of when the flight departs.
If your flight leaves on February 29, 2024 and let's assume it leaves at 3 PM,
then you can check in to your flight and obtain your boarding pass on February
28 at 3 PM or later. Once you wait until that time and check in, your boarding
pass will be displayed at the very end of the check-in process and at that time
there should be a button which allows you to add it to the wallet.

Every app is different, but typically you only get the option to add a boarding
pass to the wallet at the time you check in for your flight and that can only
be done within 24 hours of your flight.
The wallet app is for things like credit/debit cards you set up for Apple Pay,
loyalty cards and, in the case of travel, boarding passes etc.
I don't think you can have your actual itinerary in the wallet app, this should
be easily available in the Expedia app.
I use electronic boarding passes with Air Canada all the time, but as I said,
once you get the email that you can now check in for your flight, you can then
add the boarding pass at the end of the check-in process and of course it is
best if you check in on your iPhone and not on a computer; not sure if you can
add boarding passes to the wallet if you are not using your iPhone to check in.

You may want to try different voices, I use US English Siri Voice 4 as my main
Voiceover voice and I don't have this issue with the Mail app when I mark an
email as read; I just tried again wearing a headset and I hear nothing like
what you demonstrated. First I would try and reboot the phone and if it still
happens with certain voices then you should file it as a bug/send an email to
Apple Accessibility about it. You already have the recording so this certainly
will help.

Not sure if you are
all experienceing this as well but try flicking dow on an unread message just
for fun, and when it says mark as read, double tap and take note of how it
sounds. It doesn't matter what voice you use by the way I've used to them all
in this test and can confirm it sounds very strange to hear, irdst at least
this is the closest I could come to creating how it sounded to me, but anyway,
just thought I'd let you know.

RE: Traveling and using The Wallet App

Ah, it was boarding passes. OK. That makes sense to me.

I have a few cards in the wallet app. And now I have a better idea of how
things could work.

Thanks, Sieghard! You’re quite a valuable resource!

Good morning everyone,

I’m going to ask a few questions I hope aren’t dumb. Regarding this particular
topic, I am just learning, and after watching some videos and reading about it,
I thought I might try taking advantage.

Thoughts?

Jim

RE: what will IOS 17 support

2023-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There never was an "XX" Apple simply used "X", the roman numeral for "10" in
2017 for the 10th anniversary high-end phone that year, the iPhone X (iPhone
10) and a year later in 2018 they released the budget iPhone XR and the two
higher-end phones, the XS and XS Max.
In 2019 they resumed using regular numbers, e.g. iPhone 11, 11 Plus, 11 Pro and
11 Pro Max.
In 2020 the iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max were released in the fall
and the second Gen iPhone SE budget phone was released in the spring.
In 2021 it was iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
In 2022 the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus were released (no more Mini) and also 14 Pro
and Pro Max. Again in the spring the third generation iPhone SE was released.
For the first time only the Pro phones received Apple's latest chip, the
regular phones had the same chip as the iPhone 13 family from the year before.
And then of course this year we have the 15 and 15 Plus as well as 15 Pro and
15 Pro Max, again only Pro phones receive the latest A17 chip with 3 Nanometer
architecture, regular 15 and 15 Plus get the A16 from last year's Pro phones.

RE: Traveling and using The Wallet App

2023-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

I understand that people are able to save things such as flight itineraries,

Thoughts?

Re: what will IOS 17 support

2023-09-19 Thread Penny Reeder
When i purchased my current phone, it was called the XR. At some point, i’m assuming, it was renamed the 10, and i think this means it will accept 17 with no problem. It still seems to be working well (Knock on wood) and so i’m assuming there’s no good reason to replace it. Do others agree? Thanks. Unfortunately nobody can tell you, but if the submit order button is not
available you must not have provided at least one piece of information.
I just ordered the Apple Watch Ultra and I forgot to check the "No" when it
asked if I had a trade-in device. This was of course directly through Apple,
but I assume the process through a carrier is similar where you have to select
which phone you want, the finish, capacity, whether you want to buy Apple Care
or maybe the carrier has their own insurance option etc.

Traveling and using The Wallet App

2023-09-19 Thread portillo.jim
Good morning everyone,

I'm going to ask a few questions I hope aren't dumb. Regarding this
particular topic, I am just learning, and after watching some videos and
reading about it, I thought I might try taking advantage.

I understand that people are able to save things such as flight itineraries,
IDs, and other things in the Wallet app. Has anyone done it, and how easy is
that to do?

I will be taking a trip in a couple weeks. I purchased my tickets through
Expedia and thought I could save that information to my wallet app so that I
can quickly access everything when it's time to go or when I need to check
in. In looking at options within the Expedia app, there aren't any. In
looking at what I can add to the wallet itself, there aren't options there
either.

Am I going about this whole process the wrong way? Should I maybe not bother
with this app and stick with other apps or methods?

I find it so cool that many people are just showing their tickets from their
phones or that they are keeping track of their trip via their phones and
figured it would be a good thing for me as well.

Thoughts?

I use the "Mark as Read" option all the time and have no issues with it reading
anything in a strange way.
Maybe try and reboot your phone.

Not sure if you are
all experienceing this as well but try flicking dow on an unread message just
for fun, and when it says mark as read, double tap and take note of how it
sounds. It doesn’t matter what voice you use by the way I’ve used to them all
in this test and can confirm it sounds very strange to hear, irdst at least
this is the closest I could come to creating how it sounded to me, but anyway,
just thought I’d let you know.

I also noticed that when you share something like a web

It's somewhere in the middle of the screen, maybe just a little more towards
the top; if you have a keypad you of course first have to hide it before you
can see all the other buttons for Mute, switching camera etc.

Re: Some issues with the iPhone 14 Pro and iOS 17

2023-09-19 Thread Chris Chaffin

I am running the latest version of ios 16 on an iPhone 14 Pro without a
problem. I have been using an iPhone 14 Pro since last November, and I have
never had a problem accessing the status bar.
Typically, the dynamic island is in the top center of the screen. The time is
to the left of the dynamic island, and the cell, wi-fi, and battery level is on
the right. So as you swipe across the status bar, the dynamic island will be
one of the items you cross going from one side of the status bar to the other.
The dynamic island is the center of the status bar.

Now, if you are running ios 17, then it possibly could be a voice over issue
with ios 17. Its not a problem with the actual phone, but could be a software
issue.

I agree with Richard, I think it would be a good idea to call Apple
Accessibility.
