Audible book count, was: Apple Music Questions

2019-06-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This issue about the song or album count is similar to how it is not super easy
to figure out how many books I have in my Audible library.
Why can't there be a Statistics entry somewhere in the music and the Audible
app which gives you all of this information in a straight forward, easy to read
way, e.g. You have music from 128 artists, you have 198 albums etc.
Or in Audible "You have 672 books in your library", you purchased "38 books in
the last 12 month" etc.

Tom: I have had the same questions and haven't yet found the answer.
At one point, I did find a number of songs in the Songs portion of

I add things to play lists. Like you, I have a lot of partial albums

That form is quite extensive with many questions of what device you
are using, which iOS version, and specific questions for specific
issues. However, my feedback was for some notification of duplicate
songs when I try to add things to my play lists. Now, when I add
something which may already be in a play list, the song is added
without any notification. I would like something that pops up on the
More screen that says which play list a song is in, so I don't add it
again. Or, perhaps a message asking if I want to add the song to a
play list again. I'm sure I have several dozen duplicate entries in my
500 plus song play lists, but the only way to know is to go by the
play list line by line and page by page, and keep track of entries,
which makes my brain hurt just thinking about. Sure, I could use
iTunes on a computer, but like you, I have long since given up on
iTunes.

RE: Apple Music Questions

2019-06-11 Thread Ian Robinson
Hi Tom,

To find out how many music tracks are on my phone, I open the Settings app, go
to General, then About. I'm not sure if the figure just refers to tracks in
the Music app, or any mp3 file on the device. Also, I don't know what happens
if someone adds tracks to their library, but doesn't download them. I've got
the Music app set to download tracks automatically when I add them to the
library.

Alternatively, using iTunes on Windows, I can export the list of tracks in my
library to a text file and open it in a spreadsheet, then just check to see how
many rows there are.

Regards.

Hi all,
I’ve been a huge fan of Apple Music since it first became available, and I’ve
amassed a huge library in the cloud; we’re talking thousands upon thousands of
albums. I have a couple of questions. First, is there a way I can get an
accurate count of how many albums are in my library? A year-a-half ago I
somehow stumbled across that information, and at that time the count was around
four thousand. I’d be willing to bet that the collection has grown by at
least another couple of thousand.
Second, when I bring up some albums, not all of the tracks are included, yet
I’ll find them elsewhere on another album, perhaps a greatest hits collection
or an anthology. My guess is that Apple does that to save storage, but if I
want to play an album start to finish, it would be nice to have all of its
tracks available. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Apple Music Questions

2019-06-10 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
I don’t see that. Using the app with and without a Braille display, I navigated
to the bottom of the list, where I found the player window. Swiping left or
doing the Braille equivalent, I found a table index, then the last item in the
list, but no count. I’m puzzled.

If you look at the very bottom of your song list, it will tell you how many

Apple Music Questions

2019-06-10 Thread Tom Lange
Hi all,
I’ve been a huge fan of Apple Music since it first became available, and I’ve
amassed a huge library in the cloud; we’re talking thousands upon thousands of

2018-09-22 Thread Kelly Pierce
Apple Music is part of the music app docked at the bottom of your
iPhone screen. You can use the music app without Apple music. You just
need to transfer your albums to your iPhone. I don’t subscribe to
Apple Music and I have transferred hundreds of albums to my iPhone and
carry them around with me. This includes about half the albums
released by the Grateful Dead, rush and The Cure. I could travel on
multiple coast to coast flights and not run out of music.

Hello,

As far as starting your subscription, I am not totally positive since I started
mine back at the beginning, but I believe it is once you go to settings/music
and turn on Apple Music.
As far as downloading music, music is automatically streamed unless you have
the automatic download selected in settings/music. You can also download music
by just flicking up on a song or album and double tapping on download.

Hope this helps.

Apple Music questions

2018-09-22 Thread Bill Outman
I've been playing around with the Apple Music app to see how it is
structured before I try to use it. I understand there is a three month
trial before paying for a subscription. I am unsure what triggers this, and
I don't want to do it prematurely and then find I can't put it into the
budget. What can I use in the app before invoking the trial or
subscription?

If I play music through the app, am I down loading music or am I streaming
it? This obviously could make a difference in phone capacity. Are there
any other basic questions I'm not thinking of that a first time user of the
app would not know?

2018-08-21 Thread englishrider91
Can I get this offer even if I'm already subscribed to Apple Music? Because if
so, that would be pretty cool!

Thanks,
Ari

Apple Music questions, and sharing profilesHello once more, everyone,

2018-08-18 Thread Terri Stimmel

I love having Apple Music. I enjoy sharing with friends as well. Or that I have

I thought that I set my profile up, so that I could follow people, and they
could follow me. I have had a couple of requests, and did except them.
However, I never see the friends that I am following, or their stuff they

Also, how do I make sure my account is set up right, so that I can see the

It shows me that only people I approve can see what I listen to. So I have done

RE: Apple Music Questions

2017-07-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The Automatic Downloads option refers to downloading items you purchase on
other devices not to Apple Music itself.
Example: if you turn on automatic downloads on your phone but not in iTunes and
you then buy a song from iTunes on the computer then this song will also
download to your phone because automatic downloads is on.
If you buy a song on your phone it will not download to your iTunes on the
computer unless you also turn on automatic downloads.
Then there is I believe also a setting which allows downloads only on WiFi
unless you tell it to also download via cellular data.

Hi,
It doesn’t do this all at once though. I mean I have some songs that still
have the download button available so still a little confused. Also I
purchased a few songs off the iTunes store a while ago and I was under the
impression when you do this the songs will be available on all devices off
line. A month or so after I did this I was treavelling somewhere by bus and
was listening to music on my phone. I don’t have a lot of data so pressed play
on a song and it wouldn’t play and it was one of songs I purchased from the
iTunes store.
Appologize for all the questions just a bit confused since I thought if you
purchased stuff from the iTunes store the songs are on your devices all
available off line.

Apple Music Questions

2017-07-28 Thread Jen .
Hi,
I recently installed Apple Music. I have automatic downloads turned on and so
far I’ve just added the music to my library which if I understand correctly
means that I can only play the music when I am on wifi. I went in to my music
the other day and noticed that some of the songs seem to have downloaded to my
devices on their own.
How could this have happened since I didn’t press the download button on any of
the songs I added to apple music. Hopefully someone can clear this all up for
me.

Hello,
By downloaded, it means all music currently actually on your device. This can
be music that you have used iTunes to transfer it to your phone, as well as any
music that you have downloaded from Apple Music.

Re: Apple music questions

2017-02-09 Thread Fanus
Hello Chris and Wayne
Thanks for your help but it seems that I misunderstand the word “downloaded”. I
thought this meant only music that I downloaded via apple music but it seems it
is actually music downloaded from elsewhere like the cloud because when I
follow your steps I hear some other music as well which were on my previous
iPhone. I assume these songs were sometime uploaded to the cloud and now
downloaded to the new phone.

Hello,

First, your library is your entire music collection, both downloaded music and
music that you can stream from the cloud.
Now to listen to just the music that you have downloaded to your device:
* In the music app, make sure the library tab is selected at the bottom of the
screen.
* Now just swipe right until you hear, Downloaded Music, and double tab it.
Comes right after songs.

Now you will be able to play just the music you have downloaded to your device.
You have different ways of playing the music. You can play by playlist, by
album, or by song.
If you just want to play all of the music you have downloaded, then just double
tap on the songs button on that screen, and you will have a list of all of the
songs that you can play one after another, or you can shuffle them.

Hope this has been helpful.

Re: Apple music questions

2017-02-09 Thread Wayne Merritt
Fanus,
If you add a song to your library, it will be stored in a digital
locker which can hold up to 100,000 songs I believe. If you choose
download, that song will be downloaded to your iOS device. This is
notable for two reasons. If you have a device with limited storage,
like a 16 or 32 GB phone, you may not want to store hundreds or
thousands of songs. On the other hand, if your device has lots of
storage, like my 128 GB iPhone, it doesn't matter how many songs you
download since it will take many thousands for it to fill up. I've got
about 22 gigs of music on my phone. The other advantage to downloading
music is that you don't have to use as much data if you are in an area
with a spotty cell signal. To see your downloaded music only, from the
initial Library screen in Music, there should be a "downloaded music"
option under the Library heading. I have created playlists for all of
my music, and anytime I add a song to a playlist, it is downloaded to
my phone. This can be set in the Music settings in Settings. You can
also go to Playlists and then Recently Added to see the songs you have
recently added to your library/playlists or downloaded. This will only
show the most recent additions, meaning between the last 30 and 80
songs. If you have added more, then they will disappear from this list
after some point.

Hth,
Wayne

Ditto, especially since I am a music lover and so is my family member. We may
buy music, but only if it is not available on Apple Music and we really, really
would like it.

2015-11-19 Thread Monica Jones
The ones about Apple Music do describe it in detail. You choose your artists or
songs and choose to add them to your library. Then there’s an option to make
them available off line. You first set it up by telling it the genres you like.
There are several tabs across the bottom. One is called “for you” which has
recommendations based on what you picked. I don’t have my phone in front of me
so can’t tell you the other tabs for sure, but one is called My Music which
shows all the stuff in your library. I hope this gives you some idea of what
Apple Music is like.

Even if you don't think you would use it, the 3 month trial is more
than enough to try it out and see how much or little you will use it.
My wife said that she didn't want anything to do with Apple Music
during the trial. About a week later, she came to me and said that she
had changed her mind and wanted us to continue with the service after
our trial was over. The ability to look up nearly any song in the
Apple Music library of around 30 million is a pretty strong motivator.
In addition to listening to any album, including new releases, that
you want as much as you want, and even adding that music to your
library/playlist at the press of a button. Well worth the $10 or $15
monthly charge I'd say!

Hi Larry, why not just sign up for the free three-month trial? It won't cost
you a cent and you can play with it as much as you like, no obligation to stick
around if it doesn't work out for you.

Re: apple music questions

2015-11-18 Thread Wayne Merritt

I plan on doing that but thought I might get a heads-up from folks who have
been using it. Thanks.

Apple Music Questions

2015-07-25 Thread SSEric
Help with any of these or pointers to answers will be most appreciated.

I am subscribed to Apple Music. I am not quite understanding For You, My
Account, the screen that shows recommendations of playlists. It seems there
are maybe four lists per screen, if you just flip up and down, but if you
slide your finger you discover lists not originally shown when flipping.

Also if I choose a list and go into it to play or just explore, when I go
back to the choices I am taken back to the top of lists and then have to
find my place, sometimes 30-plus screens down. Is there a way of going in
and out of lists and landing where you left off? It also seems a new list
has been inserted in the original screen or an existing list from many
screens down is now nearer the top. Without documenting this, it is
subjective, as I don't have the memory to be sure

I choose a list, start a song and go into the mini player; choose More and
Add to My Music. When I go to My Music, I cannot find the songs I have
added. Where do they go?

Help with any of these would make the experience a whole lot better. All
thanks!

Eric
