Hanging With Friends Will Be Shutting Down

2018-02-12 Thread MamaPeach
Not sure how many of you play the IOS/Android/Facebook game Hanging With
Friends, but Zynga has announced that as of March 26, 2018, the game will be
discontinued. I found this out by going to my profile in the Hanging With
Friends app on my IOS device, and then double tapping on Help, it is listed
under the Announcements heading. I have played this game for many many years
and am very unhappy that it will no longer be available. I guess it is like
everything else though, things come and things go.

Tips for Playing Hanging With Friends

2014-11-18 Thread Brandon A. Olivares
Hello,

I just got this app, and am trying to use it. I’m just not understanding how it
works. Sometimes it seems to layer dialogs on top of one another, so it’s hard
to navigate.

When I give a word and the other person is solving it, it doesn’t tell me
whether they got it right or not. I’m not seeing a way to find this out.

Any tips for playing this game would be appreciated.

Peace,
Brandon

Removing items from the App Switcher [was Re: hanging with friends and advertisements that even stay in app store]

2013-09-24 Thread Christopher Chaltain
There are two other ways to remove things from the App Switcher which
may be just as fast. After bringing up the App Switcher, swipe right
once to move focus to the first app in the App Switcher and now just use
a three finger swipe up until all of the apps are gone. Alternatively,
after moving focus to the first app, do a flick up or down so you hear
Close whatever app and then just keep double tapping until all of the
apps are removed.

Hi Anita,

Thank you very much for this information as I have discovered the following
little trick to very, very quickly close apps in IOS7...

Once in the app switcher, if one swipes right then swipes up once as you
have suggested, one will now be on the close button for the app which has
focus.

One can now double-tap and hold until the bypass chime is heard. Without
lifting your first finger, if you split tap repeatedly, you can close all
running apps at quite a fast clip.

There was someone on this list who posted this little trick for IOS6, and
I'm glad I can now replicate it on IOS7.

Thanks for nudging me in the right direction!

Hi. I had a problem similar to that yesterday. I got into an app that
popped up an advertisement, and I could not get out, and there was no
dismiss button. I close the App Store and when I came back into the App
Store, the advertisement was still fullscreen! So, I went into the app
switcher and close the app. When I went back into the App Store, it was like
I was never there. All new and ready to start again.

I noticed, if you close your apps that are running after using them, you
rarely run into issues which we read about on this list. As a rule, I try
to remember to close all running apps at night before I go to bed.

How I close my apps are, Double-click the home button. Voice over will say,
app switcher. Then I swipe to the right with one finger. Voiceover will
give me the name of the app and tell me it's running and then tell me to
swipe up with three fingers to close the app. I again, swipe up with one
finger, and voiceover says, close and the name of the app that is running.
I then double tap with one finger to close that app. Then, if any other
apps are open, the next one will appear and voiceover will say, running. I
again double tap using one finger. I continue this procedure and till I
hear the word home, meaning I have closed all running apps. I double tap on
the home button, and Voila, I am back at the home screen. .

RE: Removing items from the App Switcher [was Re: hanging with friends and advertisements that even stay in app store]

2013-09-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Christopher and Joseph,

Joseph is right, if you want to close a lot of apps flicking up or down to
Delete and then split tapping is the way to go. However, you don't have to
do a double tap and hold as Joseph describes. Once you flick down to Delete,
you can just move your finger to find the first app next to where it says
Home in the app switcher, then leave your finger there and don't move it.
With another finger start split tapping the screen, it's very fast and works
well.

Sieghard

There are two other ways to remove things from the App Switcher which may be
just as fast. After bringing up the App Switcher, swipe right once to move
focus to the first app in the App Switcher and now just use a three finger
swipe up until all of the apps are gone. Alternatively, after moving focus
to the first app, do a flick up or down so you hear Close whatever app and
then just keep double tapping until all of the apps are removed.

Hi. I had a problem similar to that yesterday. I got into an app
that popped up an advertisement, and I could not get out, and there
was no dismiss button. I close the App Store and when I came back
into the App Store, the advertisement was still fullscreen! So, I
went into the app switcher and close the app. When I went back into
the App Store, it was like I was never there. All new and ready to start
again.

I noticed, if you close your apps that are running after using them,
you rarely run into issues which we read about on this list. As a
rule, I try to remember to close all running apps at night before I go to
bed.

How I close my apps are, Double-click the home button. Voice over
will say, app switcher. Then I swipe to the right with one finger.
Voiceover will give me the name of the app and tell me it's running
and then tell me to swipe up with three fingers to close the app. I
again, swipe up with one finger, and voiceover says, close and the name
of the app that is running.
I then double tap with one finger to close that app. Then, if any
other apps are open, the next one will appear and voiceover will say,
running. I again double tap using one finger. I continue this
procedure and till I hear the word home, meaning I have closed all
running apps. I double tap on the home button, and Voila, I am back at

Hi,

Please explain the following step as I cannot replicate your procedure:

Once you flick down to Delete, you can just move your finger to find the
first app next to where it says Home in the app switcher, then leave your
finger there and don't move it.

Do I just move my finger by lifting it off the screen then swiping to the
first app, or should I keep my finger on the screen and find the first app?
Your procedure makes it seem as though one can simply look at the screen and
find the location you are referring to.

I double tap on
the home button, and Voila, I am back at the home screen. .

Hanging with friends

2013-04-28 Thread Lelia Struve
Well, for some reason when I go in to the app, I have to really look
around for who's turn it is to play, and today for some odd reason, it
told me that my friends hadn't solved the game yet and when I clicked
on there name they actually were waiting for me to play.

then after each time I finished playing someone, I actually have to get
completely out of the game and take it out of the app switcher before I
can play someone else.

Re: Does anyone know of an audio demo of hanging with friends?

2013-02-11 Thread Nimit Kaur
Hi!!

I am sorry for saying that. OK. It's a game where you solve words
basically. It's like the app gives me a bunch of letters, for
example, n f b a o D e j a n o
than I have to make a word out of those letters (four letter or more
word not a proper noun) and then I send it to you. It's going to give
you only one letter on the word I sent you and other would be question
mark at least the voiceover announces question mark. Let's say, if I
made a word, Bond out of those letters and then I hit play, it's
going to send that to you. It may be set up like this: question? O
question? question?
So, then you have like six or something strikes. It gives you the
whole alphabet and you double tap on the letter you think is true.
Voiceover will announce played if it's used and strike if it's not
used. Do you have that game? I could invite you and play with you to
tell you more about it if my explanation doesn't make any sense.
Thanks! I am sorry I said that clutters the list.

2013-02-11 Thread Len Burns
Adding just a little, there are also fun sound effects that trigger when you
guess correctly, incorrectly, successfully guess a word or run out of tries.
I also usually turn hints on because with them enabled, when you touch the
word Strikes, you will be told how many guesses remain. I have a small
circle of people with whom I play regularly, blind as well as sighted.
There are a few things that are not accessible, but nothing that prevents
one from enjoying the game.

I was wondering if anyone has produced a podcast on how to play the game
hanging with friends?

Thanks,

Re: hanging with friends.

2012-11-06 Thread MamaPeach
There is a grid on the screen. Say you are guessing someone else's word,
there is their word which is given as question marks. Under this is the
alphabet, so to guess a letter, just double tap on a letter, you will be
told if it played or if it was a strike. You only get so many incorrect
guesses. To make a word, you will be given 12 letters. Decide what word you
want to spell and to spell it out, just double tap onto each letter. If you
double tap them in the order in which the word is spelled, they will go into
the right order into the grid. You can check the grid which is right above
the 12 letters you were given. If you see a letter went into the wrong
space, simply double tap that letter in the word and it will send the letter
back down into the 12 letters. Then just find the letter that should have
gone into that space and double tap it. Once you get this mastered, it is
really fun to do the missions part of the game. Good luck and let me know if
I can explain anything else. I do hope this has helped, the game is very fun
and terribly addictive.

It took me a few miknutes to figure out how to get the letters where I
wanted them, you just tap the one you want and it goes to the empty blank,
unless you are guessing the opponent's word then it goes to the place it
belongs if it is in the word. The harder part is you have to use the
letters that they give you, you don't have the use of the whole alphabet.

Re: Hanging with friends

2012-06-29 Thread Len Burns
Yes, you can clear it. You want the recall button. It appears in about
the middle of your playable letters when you are creating a word. I
cannot speak for others, but when I use recall I usually have to toggle
VO off and on for the screen to redraw. If I do not do this, the
letters continue to appear in on the board where I am composing. I do
not know to whom this bug belongs.

There are a few other similar nuances. Touching Strikes with hints on
will tell you how many strikes, chances, you have left to guess a word.
For this to work you must have hints turned on. The catch is that at
times the number is not updated when you miss a letter. To be sure you
must toggle VO. To me, these are small things. Over all it works very
well.

  Hi friends:

I will try to explain how I play this game.

It is a hangman game, so you have to send a word to you friend and guess the
word he/she sent you.

To send a word, you just double tap the letters you want to create the word
(you will have some letters available on the botton of the screen) and you just
choose the ones you want to form your word.
Your word will be displayed on the board, that is located in the middle of
the screen.

To guess the word sent by your friend, you have to choose from the letters of
the alphabet that will be located on the botton of the screen.
You will hear some questions mark on the board, they will indicate the amount
of letters that the word has and the last vowew of the word will be shown on
the board.
For exemple, if the word is tape, you will get ???e on the board.

When you guess a letter and it is on the word, you will hear a different
sound from when the sord doesn't contain the letter choosen.

If anyone would like to play this game with me, my username is mrodrigues81.

  Cheers.

Hanging with Friends is an addicting game. I could not figure out what the
missions were for quite a while. It is also tricky to exit out of them after
you press view missions. Eventually, there is a cancel button towards the top
of the screen and a close button towards the bottom. I usually need to press
both before I can exit out of the missions. My username is chanellema

   Hi

Hanging with friends

2012-06-24 Thread Marcos Rodrigues

Hi friends:

I will try to explain how I play this game.

It is a hangman game, so you have to send a word to you friend and guess the
word he/she sent you.

To send a word, you just double tap the letters you want to create the word
(you will have some letters available on the botton of the screen) and you just
choose the ones you want to form your word.
Your word will be displayed on the board, that is located in the middle of the
screen.

When you guess a letter and it is on the word, you will hear a different sound
from when the sord doesn't contain the letter choosen.

If anyone would like to play this game with me, my username is mrodrigues81.

Cheers.

Re: Hanging with friends

2012-06-24 Thread Len Burns
I enjoy this game a great deal because it is interactive in a way that
allows all of us to play when it is convenient. There are a few
VoiceOver quirks, but nothing that prevents me from playing a
competitive game with my friends! One of those quirks is that when you
are creating a word for your friend to guess, there is a recall button
that is found in the middle of the available letters. This allows you
to cancel your word and begin from scratch. At least on my iPhone 4S,
when I use this, VO does not always catch the screen update and
continues to display the letters as played. To resolve the issue I
tripple tap home twice to toggle VO off and then back on. This resolves
the problem. Very minor. My user on Hanging With Friends is LenFB if
any one would like to go a round.

You all have given great instructions. I had a read of these and tried
playing again. I thought at first the buttons were separating the
letters and I was supposed to try and form different words. I
understand now.

I have played a few times this evening with great success. I will be
adding you all. Also, anyone can feel free to add me. My username is
