2014-02-11 Thread Craig Werner
Hello, everyone.

I have just posted to AppleVis a guide to five text editors: Droptext,
PlainText 2, Notesy for Dropbox, Nebulous Notes, and Simplenote. I
won't post it here since it is over 3,500 words. You can find it at

 Hello, everyone.

I am looking for a text editor that is VoiceOver-compatible and syncs
files with a Dropbox account. I am evaluating Nebulous Notes Lite and
will probably buy the no-ads version of Nebulous Notes if I can't find
an editor I like better. So far, I am very pleased with Nebulous
Notes Lite. It has an uncluttered interface, a user's manual,
extensive help, VoiceOver-labeled buttons, and the ability to sync
with any textfile the user has placed on Dropbox. I have heard good
things about Elements and PlainText, but I have no knowledge on how
well these editors work with VoiceOver. All help is appreciated.

 Thank you.

Re: Looking for Text Editor that Syncs with Dropbox

2014-02-06 Thread Craig Werner
Alan, if your computer reads PlainText 2 files wit some words jammed
together, I wonder if the end-of-line character is set properly.
Windows and OS X expect lines to be terminated in different ways.
Looking at the Settings section of the latest version of PlainText
2, I don't see a way of toggling between windows and Mac end-of-line
conventions. Are you by any chance using a Windows computer to read
the files you speak of?

Re: Looking for Text Editor that Syncs with Dropbox

2014-01-27 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, I love Droptext and PlainText 2 the most. Also, as far as I know,
Plain Text 2 is free for now, but might be changed to a paid app. So, if
you want to try apps out, now is a good time for this one at least.
Write 2 is another good one which allows you to edit files either on the
iDevice only or on Dropbox.

Thank you.

Candy, I like Nebulous Notes as well. I just bought the
non-ad-sponsored version to support the developer.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. I
welcome additional thoughts. In a couple of days, I plan to send a
summary of my findings to the list. So far, I have looked at Nebulous
Notes, Notesy, Droptext, and Write 2.

Re: Looking for Text Editor that Syncs with Dropbox

2014-01-26 Thread Craig Werner
Hello, Richard, and thanks for your cogent reply.

Yes, Nebulous Notes allows for folder creation, and it allows notes to
be placed in any Dropbox folder. When I first linked it to Dropbox, I
automatically found all of the text files in my account regardless of
which folders they were in. I was able to deleted unwanted files from
my device without deleting them from my Dropbox account, a very nice
feature indeed. I'm not sure if true tab support is enabled in
Nebulous Notes. I plan a read-through of its documentation today. It
has more documentation than do many apps.

Re: Looking for Text Editor that Syncs with Dropbox

2014-01-26 Thread Craig Werner
I'm sorry, Candy. Your message was not blank after all but was
appended to the end of the message to which it was a reply. I'm glad
you like Nebulous Lite. Of all the editors I have tried, it has the
most complete documentation, and the developer's web site is the most
interesting. The sync to and from Dropbox is very fast and seems very
reliable as well.

 Hello, everyone.

 Thank you.

am no authority on this subject, since I too, have been looking for an
editor to use with dropbox. I to tried plain text 2 and didn't care for
it. As of now, I am with you. I downloaded nebulous notes lite and I
like it. I think it does what I need it to do mainly syncing with
 dropbox.

Re: Looking for Text Editor that Syncs with Dropbox

2014-01-26 Thread Emilio
Craig,

I use an iPhone 5. Two text editing apps that work well for me are:
Elements and Write2.
Elements works great because it has Text Expander integration, and it also
allows me to use markdown syntax.
Write2 is great because it is a simple text editor.
Both of these apps do sync with dropbox, so you will be good to go. As a
side note: elements is a paid app, but I am not sure about Write2.

Hope this has been helpful.
