RE: Help needed with Logitech H800 headset and where to find USB dongle

2021-04-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Because for a sighted person it is usually very obvious that there is a dongle
and if they put it inside the arpiece then just as many people will ask and
bitch about it because they don't read the instructions where maybe the
information where to find the dongle is contained.

Yeah they don’t make it easy to find these thing in the plastic packaging

But if the dongle goes in to an ear peace to be stored,

Why don’t they put it in there from the start / packaging point so you know
where it’s meant to be when you open the packaging up.

Alan, it's very small, about the size of a smaller handed person's thumb nail.
It's got a USB port on the end and a smooth end opposite the USB port. It's
been a few years since I've unboxed mine, but it was tucked into the bottom
layer of packaging, in a tiny plastic babby. I had to physically remove each
piece of card board just so I wouldn't miss it. I only thought to do this
because Logitech also packages their USB keyboard dongles in this manner.

If that doesn't work, it's possible they put it in the left earpiece. There's
a little compartment that swings out that stores the dongle when not in use.
The boom mic is on the right earpiece just to make finding it easier.

Hope this helps some.

You have to push in spightly while turning it.
Turn it counter clockwise to move the dots into alignment. If they are lined
up exactly, tilting the earpiece/headset should drop it out.
The dots are fairly subtle. The one on the outer ring is at about 4:30 if you
think of a watch face. The one on the panel is at about 7 when the panel is
locked in place.

The panel on the left ear has a dot, you can turn that panel about 1/8 of a
turn so the dot on the earpiece lines up, then the panel comes out, the dongle
is wedged in there.

Hopefully they can find it that way.

Alan, depending on how your friend uses her headset, she might not need
to mess with storing the dongle.  I used mine as both Bluetooth and USB,
so the dongle was always plugged in to my USB hub, and I would just move

inner ring clockwise or counter clockwise and how much distance is the

The panel on the left ear has a dot, you can turn that panel about 1/8
of a turn so the dot on the earpiece lines up, then the panel comes
out, the dongle is wedged in there.

Hopefully they can find it that way.

2021-04-26 Thread Alan Lemly
Richard and all,

Thanks for the very helpful replies. My friend located the dongle in the
packaging as you described. I have one follow-up question. Regarding the inner
ring on the left earcup that is the cover of the compartment where the dongle
is stored , can you describe in a bit more detail the procedure to get the dots
aligned? Do you turn the inner ring clockwise or counter clockwise and how much
distance is the turn? When aligned, does the compartment pop open? My friend
says her inner ring isn’t moving and she’s afraid she might break something.

No, each H800 dongle is headset specific. You cannot get replacement

If it is in the packaging, as one I had purchased and returned was, I think it
was in the part of the packaging between the two earpieces. The plastic is
molded such that the earpieces are fit in so they are protected, and there is a
spot in the middle between them where the dongle was on that set I think.

If you are unboxing the unit, the dongle is wedged somewhere in the plastic, or
at least ours was when we bought it.

Logitech will sell you a replacement dongle but pairing it using their app to
do so is very difficult to do and requires sighted assistance.

If not in the earpiece, it is embedded in the plastic shell surrounding the
headset. Very difficult to find but not impossible. I can attest to that since
I have purchased two and been able to find them with patience
.Be sure to protect it once found because there are no replacements and the
dongle only works with the one headset.

The panel on the left ear has a dot, you can turn that panel about 1/8 of a
turn so the dot on the earpiece lines up, then the panel comes out, the dongle
is wedged in there.
Hopefully they can find it that way.

been a few years since I've unboxed mine, but it was tucked into the bottom
layer of packaging, in a tiny plastic babby.

Hi List,

I got the Logitech H800 headset that I’ve heard about many times on this list
as a gift for a friend. My friend was unable to find the USB dongle in order to
use the headset with her computer and I’m hoping someone who has got one of
these recently can provide some info about the dongle’s physical
characteristics and where it might be found. Through the years, I’ve gotten a
variety of products with USB dongles and know they are sometimes housed within
the device itself as opposed to being packed separately in the shipping
container.

Any help you can provide with this issue will be greatly appreciated. I
downloaded the user manual from Amazon but didn’t find it very helpful as it
contained multiple languages and was hard to read. Any other info you can
provide about this headset will also be appreciated.

Re: Help needed with Logitech H800 headset and where to find USB dongle

2021-04-26 Thread Lisa Belville
Alan, it's very small, about the size of a smaller handed person's thumb
nail.  It's got a USB port on the end and a smooth end opposite the USB
port.  It's been a few years since I've unboxed mine, but it was tucked
into the bottom layer of packaging, in a tiny plastic babby.  I had to
physically remove each piece of card board just so I wouldn't miss it.
I only thought to do this because Logitech also packages their USB
