Re: New apple watch se user

2023-10-10 Thread Jennie Facer
Hello,

Here is what I would do.

1. When you turn your watch on, wait a little bit, then press the Digital Crown
in 3 times. This will enable VoiceOver.
2. Open your watch app. Tap pair new watch
3. When it asks you to use the camera, navigate by swiping right with 1 finger
to the “Pair manually” button.
4. Tap pair manually on your watch as well by swiping right with 1 finger
5. The watch will give you a 6-digit code to put in your phone.

Once you do that, your watch will become paired and it will be easy to follow
instructions.

If you want to join my Apple Watch group, please send a blank message to:
watchosblindusersgroup+subscr...@groups.io

We will approve you, and you can ask all kinds of watch questions. You can also
ask them here, but it is another avenue.

Thanks,

Jenn

Re: New Apple Watch Owner with some questions.

2018-12-26 Thread Ann Byrne
With the watch, use one finger less for the gestures. Scroll is two
fingers instead of three, for example. Be sure you have hints turned
on on your phone; then the watch will give you hints related to the
watch. I haven't used mail on mine, but in messages it tells me to
press and hold to compose a new message.

Anna Dresner has a good introductory book sold by National Braille
press for about $20. It gives you lots of good information.

At 04:07 AM 12/26/2018, you wrote:

Well guys,
I just got to open up some AirPods and an Apple Watch Series 4.
I have a lot of questions about the Apple watch though.
When in the mail app, how do I get the compose button? When I try to

fingers on the screen.

Ok I will just put all of my questions in separate emails.

Re: New Apple watch features

2018-04-16 Thread Chris Chaffin
Hello Maria,

There have been several articles talking about in watch OS 4.3, the ability to
let third party developers have the ability to create watch faces has been
implemented, but Apple has not yet actually released it to the developers. So
many are speculating, as well as hoping that Apple actually opens this up to
developers in watch OS 5.
As we all know, only Apple knows what is actually going to happen. We can all
hope, but that is really all it is, just hope!

Watch OS 5 is 5 months away so anything at this point is pure speculation. I
guess we may find out if Apple demonstrates it during the WWDC event at the
beginning of June, that is only 7 or 8 weeks away.

Of course that only is the case if you remember to turn off digital crown

However, one does not need to go into the settings area of Watch OS in order to
enable/disable Digital Crown Navigation mode. One only need perform a

Hello Sieghard,

You are quite correct. One cannot toggle-off Water Lock when VoiceOver's
Digital Crown Navigation mode is enabled.

So, what I do is to disable Digital Crown Navigation mode just before engaging
the Water Lock.

When I'm ready to disable Water Lock, I simply turn the Digital Crown until
normal mode is restored.

Do you know by any chance if enabling digital crown navigation changes how you
can get rid of waterlock? I like the digital crown navigation, but it seems I
cannot disable waterlock unless I first turn off Voiceover.

Hi Marie,

Yes, you can use both the series 2 and 3 in the pool.

Just select pool swim within the workout app, set the pool length tap the start
button and you are off!

Selecting pool swim automatically engages the water lock feature so you will
need to rotate the digital crown once you have finished your swim to enable
normal functionality.

Hi Gary,

Do you know by any chance if enabling digital crown navigation changes how you
can get rid of waterlock? I like the digital crown navigation, but it seems I
cannot disable waterlock unless I first turn off Voiceover.

Hi Marie,

Yes, you can use both the series 2 and 3 in the pool.

Just select pool swim within the workout app, set the pool length tap the start
button and you are off!

Selecting pool swim automatically engages the water lock feature so you will
need to rotate the digital crown once you have finished your swim to enable
normal functionality.

Hi Marie,

The digital crown is the round button, which you can either press or turn. The
other one is called the side button.

Best,

first thing, is get a swimming tracker app, there are a few about.
I have so far found however, that mine has done very poorly at getting the
distance right, no matter which app I try. this is very possibly because I
do exclusively open water rather than pool swimming though, and a number of
the apps do ask about pool length, so you may find that they work better for
you.
hope this is of some help.

Hi Gary,

Do you know by any chance if enabling digital crown navigation changes how you
can get rid of waterlock? I like the digital crown navigation, but it seems I
cannot disable waterlock unless I first turn off Voiceover.

Hi Marie,

Yes, you can use both the series 2 and 3 in the pool.

Just select pool swim within the workout app, set the pool length tap the start
button and you are off!

Selecting pool swim automatically engages the water lock feature so you will
need to rotate the digital crown once you have finished your swim to enable
normal functionality.

RE: new Apple watch and I can't get messages to work - frown

2015-10-22 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi Anna,

How did you learn of the Watch OS update? I'm glad I read your message,
otherwise I wouldn't have known.

After about 25 minutes of waiting for the downloaded Watch OS to install, I got
a message from the phone the Watch OS 2.0 is installed and it's up to date.
I've double and triple checked, and it does say 2.0, not 2.0.1. The watch tells
me it's 2.0.1, though, under settings, so I’m curious if your AppleWatch app is
telling you 2.0 instead of 2.0.1.
Also, for my future reference, how long did it take for your update to
install, after it was downloaded to your phone? Maybe I'm biased by size, but
25 minutes to update a watch seems long.

Thanks, Keith

Hi Jo,

check on your iPHone to see whether the messages sent. I sometimes get a
message on my watch saying a message wasn't sent, but when I check on the
phone, I find out that it was sent.

Also, there was a new update yesterday to 2.0.1. Maybe that will help.

Best,
Anna

2015-10-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Keith,

I heard about the update from the Today in iOS podcast. I'm not exactly sure
how long the update took because I did it early this morning and wasn't able to
check its process until later. 20 or 25 minutes seems pretty typical for
updating, though. I just don't think Bluetooth transfers to the watch are very
fast.

Best,

Re: new Apple watch and I can't get messages to work - frown

2015-10-22 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Jo,

check on your iPHone to see whether the messages sent. I sometimes get a
message on my watch saying a message wasn't sent, but when I check on the
phone, I find out that it was sent.

Also, there was a new update yesterday to 2.0.1. Maybe that will help.

Best,
Anna
