Hi Dave,

The Audible purchase cannot be done through the application. You can use
any of the browsers to open the audible account.

RE: the audible app for iPhone, in the UK

2020-03-06 Thread Alan Lemly
Dave,

Try signing out of your Audible account with the app and then signing back in.
Hopefully, when you open a title you wish to add to your library, a button
labeled Add to library 1 credit will now be available. Audible is bad about
fixing an issue but not making it stick after you update the app again. I
signed out of my US Audible account a couple of months ago to address this
issue of not being able to purchase a new title with a credit due to the needed
button not being available. When I signed out of my account and then signed
back in, lo and behold the needed button was there. I've updated my Audible app
a couple of times since then and when I drilled down on a new title just now,
the button to purchase with a credit was gone again and all I had was a button
to add it to my Wish list. Signing out and in again corrected the problem for
me so hopefully it will for you too in the UK.

They don't make signing out very easy in my opinion. Here are the steps I
followed to do so:

1. From the Audible Home screen which can be reached by executing the
leftmost button on the bottomline menu double tap the Profile button in the
upper left corner.

2. Execute the Settings button in the upper right corner of the profile
screen which opens.

3. At the very bottom in the middle of the bottom line is a sign out button
which you should execute.

4. When you sign back in and open a new title, hopefully the Add to library
with a credit button will now be available.

Let us know if this works for you in the UK.

Did you look for it in the Discover Tab?

I'm in the US, but we are able to do this if you have credits available.

This assumes the book is currently available and not a preorder.

You may want to contact their customer service. I do not know the phone number
for the UK.

RE: The audible App for iPhone

2016-03-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Andrew,

No, I have never noticed that books get deleted automatically after a certain
period of time or during an update of the app or, for that matter, during an
iOS app update. If you at some point deleted the app and then reinstalled it
that would definitely get rid of books, hard to say what may have caused this.

Subject: The audible App for iPhone

Hi,

I haven't used the Audible app on my iPhone for a while for various reasons.
However I know there were books on the device.

However this morning, when opening the app (which has been recently updated)
there would appear to be no books actually on the device - the only books I can
see are the ones I have in the cloud. I double tapped on a book that I knew
should already be on the device and instead of playing it it has started to
download the book. Does anyone know whether the app automatically deletes
books after a period of no or little use or whether they are deleted when the
app updates?

Thanks for your help,

Andrew

To download from your library, you need to click on cloud where you see the
choices cloud, device, and another one I can't remember. If you click on
cloud, you should see a list of books in your library. If you are on
device, you will only see books on your phone. I have an iPhone 5, and
things are working fine. Let me know if this gets you anywhere. I'll try
to figure out what's wrong if you are still having problems.

RE: the audible app

2013-09-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Don,

No, you can still download books from your library and in fact it's now
easier than ever because once you tap on the Cloud tab where you see all
your books, you can now tab on a multi-part book and where you see all the
parts there now is a Download All button so no need to download each part
separately. Well, they will still download one after the other, but once you
tapped Download All and if you book has 3 or 4 parts, you can go get a drink
of water and let it download. In the same way you can now delete entire
books simply by swiping down and double tap to confirm, the action rotor
works throughout Audible.
As of the last update the Audible app is as good and as accessible as it has
ever been.

I all,

I haven't been using the audible app on the iphone but have kept it
upddated.
I tried using it the other day and noticed that I could no longer download
books directly to the iphone from my audible library on the audible site.

Have they simply deleted this capability which would be a real retrogression
in my opinion, ir am I just missing something?

Thanks,

Don

One further thing to add is if you just recently purchased books, do a

Arnold answered that it could only be used to download and play what
you have put into your library via their web site. This is not the
only way that the Audible app can be used, although it may be the most
convenient feature for users who have purchased Audible audiobooks or
subscriptions -- we can select and download any previously purchased
books in our Audible libraries directly through the app, without going

This means that you can listen to all your audiobooks in one app, if

set multiple bookmarks for your audiobooks, and will remember the last
played audiobook if you want to resume listening. You do have to set
the playing speed in the music app, if you want to speed up playback,
but that setting will be remembered.

I was reminded of this feature when I answered a recent AppleVis forum

RE: Free Audible App can also be used for audiobooks in your iTunes library

2013-03-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Esther,

May I add to your excellent summary that in the new version of the Audible
app the layout is somewhat different. You now select the area you want at
the top of the screen where you find 5 options:

At the very top left is a Settings button which is self-explanatory.

The middle part across the top has 3 buttons:

Cloud, 1 of 3: This is your Audible library if you have an Audible
membership. All the books you ever purchased are here and available for
download.
Device, 2 of 3: This shows you any books you have downloaded to your device.
iTunes, 3 of 3: This shows you any Audio Books you have synced to your
device via iTunes

At the top right is a button that Voiceover reads as Delete Button,
deactivated. If you double tap it you can activate delete mode. I have
not tried this in the iTunes section since I rarely listen to anything but
books I download from Audible any more, but if you have Device selected
above then activating delete mode puts a delete button to the left of each
downloaded title, double tap on it and it turns into a Confirm Deletion
button, double tap again and you can delete an entire book at once without
the need to delete each part as was necessary in the old version of the app.

Underneath this top row of choices are 3 buttons:

Search: opens a search field where you can search for a particular title or
author
Filter: this allows you to filter what you see, for example, in your cloud
library, by completed, not completed etc.
Sort: this allows you to sort by various criteria, newest first, by author,
by title etc.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Do your audiobooks show up under the Audiobooks section of you Music app?
If so, then they should show up if you doubletap the iTunes button at the top

Re: Free Audible App can also be used for audiobooks in your iTunes library

2013-03-31 Thread Esther
Hi Matthew,
The only thing I can think of is that it may have to do with the way you sync
your library. The Audible app must be using your iTunes library data base
information to find your audiobook files. I'm not sure how this database
updates when you sync through the Cloud. Even when you connect via the USB
cable there are sometimes issues about whether the database updates. In one
case where someone created an audiobook with a similar app, from exisitng files
in his library, and it didn't show up on his iPod Touch, I asked him if he
could change something that would force the database to recognize that it had
to update and force the sync again. in that case simply starting to play the
file a short way, and then syncing again, caused the file to show up as an
audiobook on the device. Editing a tag, adding a comment field, or anything
else should also have worked to force iTunes to update its database on your
computer. The problem is that the files may have first been in the database
under the same name, but not as an audiobook. But I don't know how this works
and what the timing might be through the Cloud. Your files should show up in
the Audible app. What happens if you start playing them in the Music app?

Cheers,

Esther

A split tap is where for example you touch an app, but instead of double
tapping to activate it, you simply touch it and then while still touching the
app, tap anywhere else on the screen. Or if you are typing in standard typing
mode, you touch and hold on a letter and then touch anywhere else on the screen
to place that letter into the edit field.
