Right. But I guess the new feature is that all purchases can now be shared between all Apple IDs set up within the family sharing group. The other new feature is if one of the members makes a purchase and they do not have sufficient credit or a credit card on file with Apple ID, the organizer approves or rejects each purchase. In that case, yes. Just sign out of your Apple ID on the device(s) and let them sign into theirs. All being well they will join your family. Well this isn't going to work for you then since you are on iOS 7. I don't know if other family members have to be on iOS 8 but I bet so since even joining family sharing wouldn't be possible under iOS 7 never mind setting it up in the first place. She has her own Apple ID, but only uses it to sign into Facetime and iMessages, her own Kindel account and so on for example. I've always just backed up the devices on my computer as she doesn't even have iTunes installed on her computer. The only thing we ever buy are apps. So if we wanted to set up Family Sharing with me as the admin, how is that going to work? Is it as simple as signing out of the app store on her devices and her signing back in with her ID or is she going to have to start from scratch and sync through her computer? All devices are still on iOS 7.1.2. Would it be best for her just to do the iOS 8 update over the air instead of me setting it up through iTunes on my PC as I've always done. I have another family member with a similar situation. As in having their iPad Mini under my ID. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Christopher Hallsworth Sent: Wednesday, October 01, 2014 12:17 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: can someone please explain how to set up family sharing, and what it does? Re: can someone please explain how to set up family sharing, and what it does?
Then you buy them an iTunes gift card. Personally, I love them. My family members gave me $75 in iTunes gift cards for my birthday and Christmas. Once you enter them in to your account, they are really handy. You see an app you want, hit the buy button and your store credit gets tapped. You still get a receipt showing the amount the object was, be that a song, an album, a book or an app or even a movie or TV show. In fact, we had this conversation just last night. My wife asked me the old question, what do you want for Christmas. There is nothing I really need or want but an iTunes gift card is always welcome. Regards, Alan Go Chicago Bears in 2014! I love gift cards too and that's what I would ask for if I don't need or want anything. It's the thought that counts and I can treat myself in the digital shop as it were. Sent from my laptop On 30/09/2014 19:02, Alan Paganelli wrote: Then you buy them an iTunes gift card.
