AppStore and iTunes store are essentially the same for purposes of those card; so long as it's not the Apple Store card which is Apple's online store to buy the real hardware object. Bet the previous card could have bought an appstore voucher for the sake of knowing how. The buyer is going to have to read the small print fairly thoroughy this time. This is the pity why they have two different ones; I don't accept the accounting argument, any more than they check what sort of money it is; they just count the money and beam with delight. I can see where these store sprang up separately for different types of products, and that they're probably managed by different organizations inside Apple. This would make it hard for them to merge in a sense and allow the same gift cards to honored across all stores. I wouldn't say it couldn't happen though. If it makes it easier for Apple to separate us from your money, I can see where they would be motivated to overcome these logistics. It's only software after all! Does he actually need to buy an iTunes card? Sorry for all the questions. I had no idea, and he was looking at the computer. I do not want an Apple store card but a card to be able to buy apps. I bought the last gift card at the local supermarket store. All you need is the long code number. When you go to apple.com and decide on something to purchase during the checkout process you will have the opportunity to enter your gift card number. This as far as I know is the only way to cash in an Apple gift card. The redeem should finance both, it is all Apple. I've bought an app, a ringtone, it all comes off the same balance if you use vouchers, or card if you give them one. The sender only needed to send the number, the email shouldn't ahve a clue it was anything other than a phone or any long number. A puzzler!
