Thank you both for your replies, but unfortunately it still doesn't work for
me! After the alarm is on snooze, if I unlock the phone, still the alarm
would be in snooze in the background and would go off after the 9 min. I
tried also to ask Siri to stop it, but after a lot if trials for it to
understand what I want, it just said ok and did nothing! :S

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-10-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you want to turn the alarm off for good don't tap Snooze, just swipe
right one more time and unlock your phone, this will stop the alarm. I guess
Apple assumes that if you are awake enough to do that you don't need Snooze
any more.

Hi

You may have to unlock and go into home screen. Then go into clock, alarm and
set the button to off. You can have as many alarms you want in there. Just
turn them on and off as you prefer. Pre - set 50 alarms if you want, but you
have to manually turn them on or off.

Take care

Yes I do unfortunately and that's where the problem comes from, that I snooze a
couple of times and then get up and sometimes I get up in between snoozes so
that's why!

Thanks Neal! I think that's my problem, I have several alarms for different
times of the day/week and they're repeating so I don't delete them; I just
want to stop them in between snoozes. The alarm fires, I let it snooze for a
couple of times and after the last snooze, I get up and want to stop the
alarm instead of having to wait till it fires again to be able to stop it. I
don't want to delete it and I don't want to turn it off as I need it for the
 next day.

What I need for example that I had several years ago on an old Nokia that it
keeps the alarm on top instead of in the background between snoozes so I
always have the option to stop it without having to wait.

Re: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-10-10 Thread Sally Abd el Wahab
Hi Guys,

I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but I still can't get how I would completely turn
off the alarm after snoozing it. So if I'm now on the lock screen where it has
the count down of when the alarm would fire again, how do I just stop it
completely without having to wait for it to fire again? I tried the double tap
on the unlock part of the screen, but it doesn't work for me.

Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-10-10 Thread Neal Ewers
Sally, I made the same mistake and was nicely given the correct information
on this list. You don't have to do anything once you press unlock. Well, I
have never done this from snooze, but basically, the press of the unlock
button stops the alarm. At that point, you can go on using it or press the
lock button to lock it again. In either case, the alarm will be off.

Hi gang,
I have a repeting alarm for 6am every weekday. When it goes off, I turn off
the alarm and set a timer for 20 minutes, and get up when it goes off.
This morning after I turned off my alarm, I asked siri to set a timer for 20
minutes. The response was, a timer is already running, do I want to restart
it?
Perhaps this is the background App feature that we've heard about. I'll
check it out some more and let you know.

another option. OH, and if you want to try it before the morning, it's
easy
with SIRI. I just checked the time, it was 8:37 PM and told SIRI to set an
alarm
for 8:38 PM. SIRI did, told me that that was very soon, then I locked the
screen and waited until 8:38 came around and the alarm went off. After I
finished my test I told SIRI to Delete my 8:38 PM alarm and SIRI
confirmed
that it was gone. SIRI has great functionality when it comes to alarms.
You
can ask it to show you the alarms you have, if, for example, you have one
for
6:30 AM and feel you should get up 15 minutes earlier you can just tell
SIRI
Change my 6:30 AM alarm to 6:15 AM. You could, of course, tell SIRI to
Delete all my alarms and enjoy sleeping in, your daughter probably would
 love it, too!

  Hi Sieghard,

As I am not due for an upgrade for at least another year or so, I may
have
to go with your second solution, as I can afford to do little else.

Joking aside, I could have sworn I did that and I kept hitting a brick
wall.

I should note that I am using n iPhone 4S as my device, and not a newer
iPhone. Not sure if this makes a difference, but, as I said, I think I
did this
this morning, and I kept getting the thunk sound of hitting a brick wall.

On second thought, I may get that hammer you spoke of if only for that
 darned brick wall. LOL.

In any case, I'll try your solution in the morning and let you and
everyone
 else know what happens.

  Thanks for the advice.

Yes, on the iPhone 5, there is a tap to snooze and an unlock button, that's
all. The unlock turns off the alarm. I do it every day. Apparently, the

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Shawn,

You can, here are some examples that work:

Set my alarm for 6 AM every day

Wake me up every Monday at 7 AM

Set my alarm at 8 AM on weekdays

What doesn't seem to work is something like this:

Wake me up at 8 AM every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

However, if you need something on certain days, it is still a lot faster to
say Wake me up at 8 AM every Monday, then say Open Clock, now you can
tap on the Alarm tab, tap on Edit at the top left, tap the alarm you just
created for every Monday, tap on the Repeats button and select the other
days you want.

You could, of course just set different Alarms for each repeating day, so
say Wake me up at 7 AM every Monday, then Wake me up at 7 AM every
Wednesday etc.

Alarms also can't be used for a particular date, e.g. Wake me up on October
3 at 7 AM, you would have to set a Reminder and I guess play around with
Reminder sounds if you really needed this.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi Sieghard. I noticed that you can set an alarm with Siri as well, but can
you make her set an alarm that repeats?

Hi Shermeen,

I'm glad to report that the ok button turned out to be the unlock button as

I may well take Sieghard's advice and keep the phone unlocked, but I'm not

I have to go back over my messages as I thought I saw that there was a

In any case, thanks for the concern, and yes, I was awake well before the

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi May, Lois and others,

I have a 4S and I just set another Alarm to see what happens when it goes
off.
For some reason it's a bit different this time. Before I said I had a
Snooze and OK button.
Well, now when the alarm went off it announced the time. When I swiped right
I would hear the date, then it said Alarm and when I continued to swipe
right I got Tap to snooze and Unlock.
I tried pressing the hardware keys and the Power/Sleep as well as volume
up/down buttons all shut off the alarm, but when you then check on the
screen it says Clock, snoozing. This is the case for all the buttons, so
apparently pressing the Power/Sleep button at the top of the phone does not
turn off the alarm, but it only makes it snooze as do the volume buttons.
Of course you could turn off Snooze in your Alarm, in that case the
Power/Sleep button will just shut it off and it won't go off again.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-25 Thread Arianna
Hello, Sieghard and all,

Physical buttons making the alarm snooze instead of turn off held true for iOS
6 as well. The only way you could turn the alarm off by using the physical
buttons was if you had the snooze function disabled. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Ari

This doesn't work as I tried turning off the alarm using the power button as
well as the up and down volume buttons. One must use the unlock button to
turn off the alarm or else one places the alarm in snooze mode, which will
go off again in 10 minutes.

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Victor,

Yes, Apple recommends the following hardware solution available at your
favorite Home Depot or other hardware store:

15oz High Velocity Hammer
http://www.homedepot.ca/product/15oz-high-velocity-hammer/953820

This is guarantied to turn your alarm off permanently.

OK, joking aside, I just set an alarm to go off a minute later so I could
check and I had both Snooze and OK on the lock screen. If you are on
Snooze swipe right once to get to OK, double tap it and the alarm is off
until the next recurring time and your iPhone lives to wake you up another
day *smile*.

Sieghard

Hi Sieghard,

As I am not due for an upgrade for at least another year or so, I may have to
go with your second solution, as I can afford to do little else.

Joking aside, I could have sworn I did that and I kept hitting a brick wall.

I should note that I am using n iPhone 4S as my device, and not a newer iPhone.
Not sure if this makes a difference, but, as I said, I think I did this this

On second thought, I may get that hammer you spoke of if only for that darned

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Victor,

Just FYI, I also have a 4S. Did you see Anna's reply, maybe you don't always
want to unlock your device just to turn off the alarm, but it apparently is
another option. OH, and if you want to try it before the morning, it's easy
with SIRI. I just checked the time, it was 8:37 PM and told SIRI to set an
alarm for 8:38 PM. SIRI did, told me that that was very soon, then I locked
the screen and waited until 8:38 came around and the alarm went off. After I
finished my test I told SIRI to Delete my 8:38 PM alarm and SIRI confirmed
that it was gone. SIRI has great functionality when it comes to alarms. You
can ask it to show you the alarms you have, if, for example, you have one
for 6:30 AM and feel you should get up 15 minutes earlier you can just tell
SIRI Change my 6:30 AM alarm to 6:15 AM. You could, of course, tell SIRI
to Delete all my alarms and enjoy sleeping in, your daughter probably
would love it, too!

Regards,

Sieghard

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-24 Thread Kimmie
I find when the alarm goes off, and I press anything, it goes off alright,
but I half expect it to come back on again. Like this morning, I pressed
the volume button on the side, and it stopped, and stay stopped. Hehehe.

Now all I see is a snooze button, and not a shut off button.

 Is there something I'm missing?

Has Apple created a hardware feature to allow for the alarm shut off,
 or
will I constantly have to go through the control screen?

 Thanks for any help.

Re: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-24 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

Just to clarify, you don't have to unlock the phone. Mine has a passcode lock,
and I don't need to enter it to stop the alarm. Just double-tapping Unlock is
enough.

Best,
Anna

with SIRI. I just checked the time, it was 8:37 PM and told SIRI to set an
alarm for 8:38 PM. SIRI did, told me that that was very soon, then I locked
the screen and waited until 8:38 came around and the alarm went off. After I
finished my test I told SIRI to “Delete my 8:38 PM alarm” and SIRI confirmed
that it was gone. SIRI has great functionality when it comes to alarms. You
can ask it to show you the alarms you have, if, for example, you have one for
6:30 AM and feel you should get up 15 minutes earlier you can just tell SIRI
“Change my 6:30 AM alarm to 6:15 AM”. You could, of course, tell SIRI to

 love it, too!

RE: iOS7 Alarm Problem

2013-09-24 Thread Kimmie
I'm wondering I've got lots of times on my alarm, because I don't have it
repeating, so when I want to put a particular time I just put the time in
and save it, but what I'm asking is that I want to change the alarm sound,
but looks like I've got to reset all the alarm times again, and put it to
the same sound as I want it. Is there an easier way to do that?
