Ditto! I've been there! For weeks my phone would not work properly. Voiceover
stuck on everything I did. Receiving and sending phone calls became a
nightmare. I found out by turning off Wi-Fi calling all of my problems were
fixed. I am now able to enjoy my phone once again. I don't know what the
problem is between voiceover and Wi-Fi calling, but something is certainly
wrong. They do not work well together at all, at least not on my phone!

Hello Terry, first of all calm down and chill out it's can be okay. You're not
the first person to have this problem today. On an app called vote around
somebody was describing the same similar issue. Except the only thing that they
have going on was once the phone downtown to 20%, it will start randomly
calling people. So yes definitely I recommend visiting an apple store, and as
long as your phone is under warranty care meaning AppleCare they show take care
of the issue. For no charge. If you need any other assistance feel free to give
me a shout.

You can have an IOS upgrade installed over night. I think you double tap
on the install later button and then as you said, you'll need to accept
the license agreement, but then IOS will install itself overnight. I'm
not sure, but maybe something like this happened in this case. Here's an
article that talks about this new feature in IOS 9:

On 03/05/16 09:01, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

Hi Terri,

First of all, if you are talking about an iOS update then it would not
have updated automatically in the middle of the night. iOS updates are
automatically downloaded to your phone if it is connected to WiFi and
plugged in, but they simply will not install unless you tap on two
separate “I Agree” buttons.

Anyhow, the 9.3.1 update is a good update and you shouldn’t have the
issues you are having. If hard rebooting and doing a Reset Network
Settings does not help I strongly recommend you spend the time it takes
to do a full restore preferably via iTunes and to then set up the phone
as a new phone instead of restoring a backup. Backups can also “backup”
issues and when you restore the issues can return. I recently restored a
backup of my wife’s iPhone 6 to the 6S she is now using and it seemed
that the battery was not lasting as long as it should. I ended up
restoring via iTunes which essentially means you reinstall iOS 9.3.1 and
then set up the phone as a new phone which means all you have on the
phone are the Apple stock apps.

Next I went through Settings and made sure everything was as it should
be (turn off Wi-Fi Assist in Cellular, make sure Background App Refresh
was off for unimportant apps, turn off non-important items under Privacy
 > Location Services > System, set up what should be backed up in iCloud
etc.).

I next put about 15 apps she uses on a regular bases back on the phone
(I chose to do so via iTunes, but you can of course reinstall them via
the App Store and the Purchased apps area).

After that I arranged the apps on the home screen the way I like which
of course was not how she liked it (women **sigh**).

Then I set up again her email account, signed into all her other apps
like Facebook/Messenger, Google/Youtube, made sure the Sonos app was
connected to our Sonos music system and all that.

Lastly I synced her music and ringtones back to the phone. She uses
Dropbox to backup her photos so nothing to worry there and now I
installed OneDrive on her phone since I bought Office 365 which gives
each of us 1 Tb of online storage so I turned off the automatic camera
roll backup in Dropbox and enabled it in OneDrive.

In the end I probably spend about 3 to 4 hours doing all that and it
paid off. I unplugged her 6S yesterday morning and this morning, after
basically 24 hours, the battery is down to 60%. A 40% drop in 24 hours I
think is pretty good and it really seems to have made a difference.

I suggest you do the same. Depending on how many apps you have on the
phone doing a restore and setting up as a new phone can be a bit of a
process, but every so often I find it’s worth it.

A little tip, when you start an email and after you type in somebody’s
email address, try to tap the return button (you may have to do so
twice). For me this works like pressing the tab key on the computer and
it takes me from the “To” field to the subject field and puts focus
there. After I type my subject line I double tap the return key again
and focus jumps into the message body field where I can start to type my
message or start dictating it by doing a 2-finger double tap.

And one last piece of advice: whenever an iOS update is available, make
sure before you do the update that you empty your app switcher and, as a
minimum, reboot the phone. I always do a Reset Network Settings before
any iOS update and while this requires me to re-enter my Wi-Fi passwords
for my home and work, I find it can avoid potential issues.

Best regards,

Sieghard

Hi Ed,

What somebody wants to turn off or keep on is personal preference. As for
“where” I already said that. Background app refresh is its own item in Settings
> General and system related location services are, as I said, under Settings >
Privacy > Location Services > System (that is almost at the very bottom of
location services).
Here you have things like automatic time zone which I don’t feel is necessary,
if anything I may turn it on briefly if I am travelling across time zones and
the time doesn’t seem to set itself correctly, but usually it does anyways
based on cell towers. Also things like traffic I don’t feel I eed or nearby
locations etc. Most of the system related location services I turn off except
maybe compass calibration or distance tracking or whatever it is called. Alsom
most is pretty self-explanatory.

As for background app refresh, I turn everything off except maybe those that
are important to me like Parcel, Facebook, Messenger, Skype etc. Again, it’s
personal preference, but even if you turned off background app refresh
altogether it may not make it much of a worse experience for many users. How
much battery it actually saves I don’t know, it just says turning off some of
this “may save battery life”.

iCloud is the same thing. If you never take photos having iCloud Library turned
on for photos or turning on Photostream may not be important. I use OneDrive to
back up my photos so it’s not important to me and it would only result in
photos getting uploaded to two cloud services which of course may use more of
my data if I am not on WiFi when I take a picture. I suggest you just go
through the options and decide what seems important for how you use your
device, there is no right or wrong or a particular set of settings that works
for everybody.

Sieghard

I have the Wi-Fi assist turned off. I would appreciate if you could provide

this works like pressing the tab key on the computer and it takes me from the
“To” field to the subject field and puts focus there. After I type my subject
line I double tap the return key again and focus jumps into the message body
field where I can start to type my message or start dictating it by doing a
2-finger double tap.

And one last piece of advice: whenever an iOS update is available, make sure
before you do the update that you empty your app switcher and, as a minimum,
reboot the phone. I always do a Reset Network Settings before any iOS update
and while this requires me to re-enter my Wi-Fi passwords for my home and work,
I find it can avoid potential issues.

Sieghard

Hi Terri,

First of all, if you are talking about an iOS update then it would not have
updated automatically in the middle of the night. iOS updates are automatically
downloaded to your phone if it is connected to WiFi and plugged in, but they
simply will not install unless you tap on two separate “I Agree” buttons.

Anyhow, the 9.3.1 update is a good update and you shouldn’t have the issues you
are having. If hard rebooting and doing a Reset Network Settings does not help
I strongly recommend you spend the time it takes to do a full restore
preferably via iTunes and to then set up the phone as a new phone instead of
restoring a backup. Backups can also “backup” issues and when you restore the
issues can return. I recently restored a backup of my wife’s iPhone 6 to the 6S
she is now using and it seemed that the battery was not lasting as long as it
should. I ended up restoring via iTunes which essentially means you reinstall
iOS 9.3.1 and then set up the phone as a new phone which means all you have on
the phone are the Apple stock apps.
Next I went through Settings and made sure everything was as it should be (turn
off Wi-Fi Assist in Cellular, make sure Background App Refresh was off for
unimportant apps, turn off non-important items under Privacy > Location
Services > System, set up what should be backed up in iCloud etc.).
I next put about 15 apps she uses on a regular bases back on the phone (I chose
to do so via iTunes, but you can of course reinstall them via the App Store and
the Purchased apps area).
After that I arranged the apps on the home screen the way I like which of
course was not how she liked it (women *sigh*).
Then I set up again her email account, signed into all her other apps like
Facebook/Messenger, Google/Youtube, made sure the Sonos app was connected to
our Sonos music system and all that.
Lastly I synced her music and ringtones back to the phone. She uses Dropbox to
backup her photos so nothing to worry there and now I installed OneDrive on her
phone since I bought Office 365 which gives each of us 1 Tb of online storage
so I turned off the automatic camera roll backup in Dropbox and enabled it in
OneDrive.
In the end I probably spend about 3 to 4 hours doing all that and it paid off.
I unplugged her 6S yesterday morning and this morning, after basically 24
hours, the battery is down to 60%. A 40% drop in 24 hours I think is pretty
good and it really seems to have made a difference.

I suggest you do the same. Depending on how many apps you have on the phone
doing a restore and setting up as a new phone can be a bit of a process, but
every so often I find it’s worth it.

A little tip, when you start an email and after you type in somebody’s email
address, try to tap the return button (you may have to do so twice). For me
this works like pressing the tab key on the computer and it takes me from the
“To” field to the subject field and puts focus there. After I type my subject
line I double tap the return key again and focus jumps into the message body
field where I can start to type my message or start dictating it by doing a
2-finger double tap.

And one last piece of advice: whenever an iOS update is available, make sure
before you do the update that you empty your app switcher and, as a minimum,

and while this requires me to re-enter my Wi-Fi passwords for my home and work,

Hello,
I have some guesses, but I'll see what others say. All I will
say is, my 5S, running 9.3.1, has nothing that you describe,
therefore, I confirm that it is not an accessibility issue.

Just an idea: open the app switcher and close all apps. some apps are memory

I had a problem with the latest iOS update, and I had to take my phone to
Apple because it rebooted itself and deleted apps and change the voice over
voice and all kinds of very weird things so, went to Apple and they did
something to it reset it and hopefully you have everything backed up up in
iCloud or on the back up on your computer at home so good luck because there is
deathly something screwy with the latest iOS update heard of other people
having problems as well

Hi, Terri.
If the issue is service-related e.g., you can't call in or out, then
AT would help you. But if they're like TMobile, they'll tell you to
take it to Apple if it's anything other than strictly phone related.

If your phone is still under warranty, it won't cost you anything to
have Apple replace it.

Dani

I realize that some on this list my strongly disagree with me, but I suggest
you do a hard reboot of your iPhone. You do this by
pushing down the home button and the power button at the same time. This will
shut the phone down completely, allowing for complete

Hi everyone,

I really hope someone can help me. I am at a loss as to what to do. It is
really driving me crazy! I want to throw my phone in the river!
I guess I would say this started happening a couple weeks ago. It was before I
took the update. I did not want the update. It automatically updated in the
middle of the night, which really pissed me off.
Anyway, I have a 5S. It has worked well since I got it. I want to say that I
got it in February, when I upgraded it for my for ass. I love the phone, and I
have overall really enjoyed it. However, it is started freezing up a lot! I
don't know why. It seems to do it out of the blue. It will do it if I am
sitting here playing with it and it's not charging, and it would do it if I am
playing with it, and it is charging. So that does not seem to make a
difference. I am my farted boyfriend to take a look at it, and I turned off
voiceover. He said when he tried to go to different amps, or just move the
screen around, he had no problems. This really disappointed me, because I am
guessing this must be an accessibility issue. But really I don't know.

For instance, just a few minutes ago I tried to write this email. It took me a
while to get the name of the group in the from box, then I couldn't get into
the subject box, no matter what I did. I had to reboot the phone three or four
times power it down three or four different times, rebooted again after I
powered it down, and right now it seems to be OK
I even left it off for about 10 to 15 minutes, after one of the times I shut it
down. But as soon as I turned it back on, and unlocked it, and started to go
through my list of apps, it started doing that shit again. It won't let me
swipe the screen. It is don't get frozen. But dinner will let me swipe, but it
might not open the app.

I feel like I am on a roller coaster ride with this thing. I don't know what to
do about it. I don't know if I should go to AT, or if I should go to the
Apple Store? Or I don't know if there is a thick that I can do for it at home.
I am really hoping there is, because I can forward to really spend any money on
it. I feel very frustrated! I wanted to throw that thing! I want to smash it!
But deep down not really, because it's my main mode of doing things, and my
main piece of accessibility. Well I do have a laptop. But I use my phone a heck
of a lot! Does anyone have any idea as to what could be going on?
Why is the rebooting affect not working?
Why is turning it off and on not working? Has anyone else seen this issue?
How do I take care of it? I seriously I'm going to start pulling my hair out!
Any help with this issue would be so very much appreciated! You would become my
new best friend. LOL!

Thank you so much!

Hi William,

Thank you for the advice.
However, I have been doing the hard reboot, and I have been powering it

It's like it just has to stop on its own. It's very strange! Thank you
again for the help.

Anyway, I have a 5S. It has worked well since I got it. I want to say that I

might not open the app.

I feel like I am on a roller coaster ride with this thing. I don't know what to
do about it. I don't know if I should go to AT, or if I should go to the

Someone please help me, or I am going to pull my hair out!

2016-05-03 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hi everyone,

I really hope someone can help me. I am at a loss as to what to do. It is
really driving me crazy! I want to throw my phone in the river!
I guess I would say this started happening a couple weeks ago. It was
before I took the update. I did not want the update. It automatically
updated in the middle of the night, which really pissed me off.
Anyway, I have a 5S. It has worked well since I got it. I want to say that
I got it in February, when I upgraded it for my for ass. I love the phone,
and I have overall really enjoyed it. However, it is started freezing up a
lot! I don't know why. It seems to do it out of the blue. It will do it if
I am sitting here playing with it and it's not charging, and it would do it
if I am playing with it, and it is charging. So that does not seem to make
a difference. I am my farted boyfriend to take a look at it, and I turned
off voiceover. He said when he tried to go to different amps, or just move
the screen around, he had no problems. This really disappointed me, because
I am guessing this must be an accessibility issue. But really I don't know.

For instance, just a few minutes ago I tried to write this email. It took
me a while to get the name of the group in the from box, then I couldn't
get into the subject box, no matter what I did. I had to reboot the phone
three or four times power it down three or four different times, rebooted
again after I powered it down, and right now it seems to be OK
I even left it off for about 10 to 15 minutes, after one of the times I
shut it down. But as soon as I turned it back on, and unlocked it, and
started to go through my list of apps, it started doing that shit again. It
won't let me swipe the screen. It is don't get frozen. But dinner will let
me swipe, but it might not open the app.

I feel like I am on a roller coaster ride with this thing. I don't know
what to do about it. I don't know if I should go to AT, or if I should go
to the Apple Store? Or I don't know if there is a thick that I can do for
it at home. I am really hoping there is, because I can forward to really
spend any money on it. I feel very frustrated! I wanted to throw that
thing! I want to smash it! But deep down not really, because it's my main
mode of doing things, and my main piece of accessibility. Well I do have a
laptop. But I use my phone a heck of a lot! Does anyone have any idea as to
what could be going on?
Why is the rebooting affect not working?
Why is turning it off and on not working? Has anyone else seen this issue?
How do I take care of it? I seriously I'm going to start pulling my hair
out! Any help with this issue would be so very much appreciated! You would
become my new best friend. LOL!

Thank you so much!

Terri
