Re: AD On the Netflicks App
Yes, you can. Make sure Audio description is turned on in the accessibility settings. I think all the Netflix original programs have audio description. I do not know how many movies, etc., they include audio description for in the app. Richard (Sent from the iPod Touch 6) On Sep 29, 2017, at 7:23 PM, Andy Baracco <w...@socal.rr.com<mailto:w...@socal.rr.com>> wrote: Can you get audio description when you view content using the IOS app for Netflicks? Re: Seeking ways to watch Netflicks on a TV?
When I went shopping over the holidays I found the Chromecast Audio for $35 and the Chromecast for $70. Since the original question had to do with streaming Netflix to a 21 inch TV, they may also be interested in video and want the Chromecast instead of the Chromecast Audio. The Chromecast itself isn't accessible or in accessible. You just set it up using the Google Home app, which is available on android or iOS and is accessible. Browsing or searching Netflicks
Hi there. So, now I'm getting into Netflicks, after who knows how long it's been around. I'm interested in knowing a good way of searching or browsing the site. I know there are categories, but it doesn't seem like it lists all of the shows within that category. Also, I'd like to see what they have in Spanish, but again, I'm only seeing a limited number of selections, unless I type a specific name of a specific show. Does anyone know how I can get a full list of a given category? And, how can I look for things in Spanish in general? Re: multtiple topics: apple tv, netflicks, hulu, etc.
I have had a Roku and you are right, it has no accessibility whatsoever. It is totally useless for a blind person. -Original Message- From: christopher hallsworth Sent: Monday, August 29, 2016 2:37 PM To: Viphone Subject: Re: multtiple topics: apple tv, netflicks, hulu, etc. Well, as far as I have been reading, Rocu is completely inaccessible. Chromecast is accessible if you use their mobile apps. So yes, Apple TV is completely accessible as far as the TV interface is concerned. I love mine and wouldn’t trade it in for anything else. On 29 Aug 2016, at 18:02, Wayne Merritt <wcmerr...@gmail.com> wrote: The one thing that Apple TV has over the other cheaper options, like Amazon Fire, Roku, or even ChromeCast, is that every part of the Apple TV is accessible. I haven't used any of the others so may not be totally informed on this. All I know is that with VoiceOver on the Apple TV, I can access any part of the TV's operating system. It seems like everyone uses their Apple TV differently. MY wife and I use it for watching YouTube videos, listening to playlists through Apple Music, or using the AirPlay feature on our iPhones or iPad Mini to stream content through our devices and have it broadcast on the Apple TV. We have thought about some of the movie/TV show apps and are going to get a subscription to the CBS app on the Apple TV. The iPhone version of this app is not very accessible, but the Apple TV version looks to be much better. The CBS app lets you watch current and past shows that either aired on CBS or that were released on home media through CBS. We both are excited about this since CBS has a lot of shows that we would want to watch, like "Cheers," "Family Ties," "The Brady Bunch," and our favorite current show, "Survivor." Though you can watch current shows through the network apps, like the CBS app, for free, you usually have to wait about 7 or 8 days before being able to do so. Whereas, if you subscribe through the network app, you can watch it the next day. Some network apps even let you watch things live through their app, or past or current sporting events. The subscription for the CBS app is $7 monthly, after the free 7 day trial. Another thing that you will find is that no one app has all of the shows/movies you may want to watch. Yes, Netflix has a lot, but they don't have everything, jus tlike Hulu or other apps don't have everything. Also, those apps are adding and removing content all the time, so their selection is constantly changing. It did not when it was first released, but a later TVOS updated added Bluetooth keyboard support. Once the TVOS 10 update is released in a few weeks there is also single sign-in although I am not sure how this works if, for example, you use different passwords for let’s say Netflix, Youtube and Hulu. The Apple TV Fourth Generation is available with 32 Gb internal storage for $199 US and with 64 Gb for $249. This storage is for downloading apps and so on, you cannot record shows with the fourth generation Apple TV nor could you with previous versions. As Richard already said, apps like Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and so on are all free. I would imagine that pretty much all apps which require a subscription would offer the app for free. Keep in mind that at this point many apps you can get on the Apple TV require a cable subscription to work and do not offer a stand-along subscription via the Apple TV. Well, as far as I have been reading, Rocu is completely inaccessible. Chromecast is accessible if you use their mobile apps. So yes, Apple TV is completely accessible as far as the TV interface is concerned. I love mine and wouldn’t trade it in for anything else. > On 29 Aug 2016, at 18:02, Wayne Merritt <wcmerr...@gmail.com> wrote: > > The one thing that Apple TV has over the other cheaper options, like > Amazon Fire, Roku, or even ChromeCast, is that every part of the Apple > TV is accessible. Re: multtiple topics: apple tv, netflicks, hulu, etc.
The one thing that Apple TV has over the other cheaper options, like Amazon Fire, Roku, or even ChromeCast, is that every part of the Apple TV is accessible. RE: multtiple topics: apple tv, netflicks, hulu, etc.
Hi Richard and David, First of all, the fourth generation Apple TV also supports Bluetooth keyboards. I believe this is the case with Disney. I am pretty sure you can watch and get a subscription for the mlb network via the Apple TV. I think for anybody who watches a fair bit of TV the Apple TV may not yet be a satisfactory replacement although I really like ours and think it’s a worthwhile item to have for anybody who is involved in the Apple ecosystem and especially if you want a beautifully accessible platform for Netflix, Youtube and so on. . There have been rumours that apple is negotiating with major content providers so they can offer an A La Card TV service where you can pay for channels you want without being forced to subscribe to channel bundles which may include stuff you never watch. However, it does not look like Apple is even close to reaching agreements with these content providers and one theory I heard is that Apple thinks they are top dog and approach these negotiations with a fair bit of ssuperiority and self-importance thinking these major content providers which are huge companies also are going to fall to their knees thanking Apple for what they want to do and offer them killer deals. Apparently this is not so and the two sides are still miles apart from reaching an agreement as to how this would work. Re: netflicks
Hello, Once you are in the screen where the movie is playing there is a button called audio and subtitles. Double tap on this button. Once you do there is a big list of language options for the audio and for subtitles. The option you are looking for is under the audio section and should say something like english with description. Make sure that option is selected and it should turn the audioo description back on. Another specific NetFlicks question
Hello again, Here's a question that's more specific regarding netflicks. I watch both English and Spanish shows. I know Netflicks has a ton of shows in Spanish as well. How do I find them, as I don't really see a category for it when I'm looking. What I've done is type the word "Spanish" in the search field, and it gives me a few that way. Also, how do I continue looking at the rest of the list once I've gotten to the end of the screen? I'm sure there are a lot more than what I'm seeing. Thanks much. Netflicks questions
Hello there! I've downloaded the Netflicks app and have established an account with them and look forward to using it. However, I need to talk with some people about how this thing works, because I've been trying to watch some different shows, and nothing happens when I doublt-tap on them. I figured a list of buttons or options would come up. If you want to take this off list so as not to bombard the list with emails, I'm happy to do that as well. I want to be respectful to everyone else. So, who can explain this interesting app? Jim -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Netflicks and orrigional netflicks shows?
Hi all. I'm trying to add to my netflicks queue an orrigional netflicks show that will heir on friday. Is there a specific place in the ap I should look for this show? Or, should I wait until it heirs to search? If I just do a basic search I'm not finding it. This ap really could be more accessible IMO. There are other shows I'm looking for and finding them... but when I click on them to add to my queue another show comes up. *sigh* thanks. Re: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver?
I have logged into a family's account and Netflix is definitely usable especially with headings and even setting the rotor to images to find the listing of movies there's just a few things you need to figure out how it listings and then the most annoying thing is when you hit on a movie that's in the list but it's actually not available when you get error messages that seems to happen quite frequently but there's plenty of stuff there for a while anyway. It's some usable. There is a button at the top left that will take you back to a couple of other screens where then you'll see the listing listing of Sean Rose. You'll deathly want your rotor set to headings so that you could whip through those and find what interests you like drama is documentaries comedies and then within those groups are different categories I think if I'm remembering correctly but there are a few things around label that you'll you'll want to find and once you do you'll figure out pretty quickly how it all works > On Oct 28, 2015, at 10:55 AM, Joney <talk2o...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Perhaps I am misunderstanding the question here. I have to agree that, if you are motivated enough to stick with it, Netflix on iPhone is definitely usable. I watch mostly movies and documentaries and, while I haven't been successful in accessing the programs from the suggested for you screen, I can search for things then play them with little trouble. Perhaps I am misunderstanding the question here. Whenever I went to look at a category, I go to the top left, press the button up there, skin down to the category that I want, such as horror movies, one of my favorites, double tap on that, and go through the movies. The first things on the list will be there suggestions for you, then trending, new and so forth. If you started the left, and flick, it will go all the way through the list. When you find one that you want, and it's past the first three or four, flick two or three past it, and then back up to it. You can then double tap on it, and go to the movie. You have to do that because it goes past what is normally shown our screens, and for whatever reason, we can't get it to respond to the movie directly. Re: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver?
Hey, this is really interesting. Yesterday, using my iPhone 6s, I signed into Netflix. There are two profiles because my husband uses it way more than I do. Yesterday, as today, I picked my profile. Then I selected home. There is an unlabeled button in the top left corner. Yesterday, I double tap that button, and it did nothing. I double tapped it more than once. It did nothing. So today, having seen this message, I went back into Netflix and repeated the same steps as yesterday. Except that this time, double tapping the button actually took me to a page that had the categories. So I double tap documentaries, one of my favorites, went down to the bottom of the page and started flicking from there. And, surprise of surprises! It actually worked. Movies that then came in to focus were visible on the bottom of the screen and could be activated with voiceover. This is really weird. I have no explanation for why it totally did not work yesterday and did this morning. I also have not yet tried it on my iPad mini. I sure hope this keeps up. It would be great. Re: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver?
Hi Jim, Netflix does work very well on the AppleTV if you have one of those. Also, there are people using android devices who say it works fine there. I have an old Nexus seven, and I have tried Netflix. I am not gods gift to android. But for me, it does not work as some say. So if you have an android device lying around, you might want to try that and see if you have any better luck. RE: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver?
Does anyone remember when Netflix switched up a perfectly accesible site to a fancy visual display with add buttons that didn't work? Even people at customer service who took my calls said they came to work one day and the whole site was different and they also had trouble with it. There was a law suit but I never got credited for the many months the site was unusable. This was sometime within the last 6 or so years. That was the end of my subscription to Netflix. Now a podcast I like a lot switched venues and is now a part of Howl. Howl is a nightmare and pretty much unusable. When I wrote them about it, they were genuinely sorry and gave me an extra 3 months free and also that "they had never thought about that" meaning that anyone would be using their site on an i phone with voice over. How can we raise the awareness of such developers about this sort of thing? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Richard Turner Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2015 8:29 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver? Jim, I am pretty successful in using netflix on the iPhone. Let me say this, there are problems, but so far, I have been able ato work around them. I mostly watch television series, and that was a little difficult until my sighted husband and I came up with a work around. That isn't to say, that the next netflix app upgrade couldn't change everything. Write me off list and maybe I can help you. Sir/Ma'am: It is usable. I rather injoy it. I just wish they had more audio described movies. Thanks. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Jim Portillo Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2015 10:31 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver? Howdy, I was wondering about Netflicks on the iPhone with VoiceOver. I've heard a lot of good things regarding Netflicks from mainly sighted friends. Before I sign up with them, I was wondering what people on this list thought of it and if there might be any pointers or tips or whatever regarding it. Thanks for any replies. accessing The Audio Description In Netflicks Revisited
Hello All, Before tapping on that update button for Netflicks 7.1.4, I would like to know if it's accessible. I have an old version running, but I'm unable to stop an episode and get the list of other episodes to solve the bug that I may be having in getting the audio described option to show up in the language menu. I have already signed out and back into Netflicks to see if that would work, but no go. So, any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Re: NetFlicks and adding programs to instant queue?
It's quite simple using Win7. Just search for what you want. Assuming you find it, there is a button that says instant queue. Just hit it and you're there. At 04:40 AM 9/5/2012, you wrote: Hi, I have figured out how to add programs to the instant queue in netflicks from the phone, but because it isn't very quick finding what you want to watch, as you have to toggle VO off/on to scroll pages. I was hoping to be able to add programs to my instant queue from my Windows 7 PC then watch them on the phone. However, I cannot find a way to do this, or to see the brief description of the program when using the PC. Can anyone offer any advice?
