RE: Setting stop timer for BARD
Kimber has you straight on using the built-in clock timer as a BARD Mobile timer but be aware that if you ever use your timer as an alert mechanism, it will now just turn off your device instead of playing an alert sound unless you reset it back. RE: Setting stop timer for BARD
I am using an IPhone 5 and Touch 5th edition with the latest IOS on both and the timer works every time for me. I use it quite a bit too. One other tip is, if you are falling asleep, you might want to turn off Voiceover with a 3-finger double tap or 3 presses of the home key. Otherwise, you will get the announcement that it is shutting off, which is just enough to wake me for the rest of the night. RE: Setting stop timer for BARD
Hi Kimber, I went and check the stop playing and it was already selected. The problem is when I was using IOS 7 it worked fine. Now that I updated to IOS 8 it has not been stopping my BARD book. I don't know why it workds a few times but then other times it doesn't stop the book. Like last night I heard the timer come on but the book just kept on playing. I think I will try and reboot my iPad and if that doesn't work I don't know what else to do. Any suggestion would be helpful. Re: Setting stop timer for BARD
That's really strange because my timer seems to work with Bard. I wonder if it has something to do with the device. I am running on an iPhone 6. SETTING SLEEP TIMER FOR BARD
Hi I can't remember where to go to set the timer to turn BARD off. Can someone refresh my memory as to where I go to make that setting change. The problem I have been having the last couple of nights is I tell Siri to set my timer say for an hour. But for some reason it has not been working. It always has been working just fine except for the past few night it has not been shutting BARD off. Any ideas why this is not working? I am still using IOS 7.1.2. Re: SETTING SLEEP TIMER FOR BARD
There is no sleep timer in the BARD app. But, you can use the clock timer instead of having a sound when the timer ends, if you go to the end of the options you will find, stop playing. Double tap on that, then I think there is a set button then the start button and after whatever time you set, anything playing should stop. HTH, Richard The only limits are those of vision. Re: Using the timer with Siri, was timer on BARD
I’ve never set one of these timers for Bard in the native clock app, but I noticed that there was a setting that says “when timer ends”. You can double-tap on the current action that it has set up to start when the timer ends, usually the name of the alert tone, and at the bottom of that screen, there’s an item that says, “stop playing”. I imagine this would stop bARD playing, as well. HtH, Teresa On the other hand, there are different fingers. I have my alarm set for a sound when it goes off and timer set for no sound. This way, I can most times ask Siri to set a timer for BARD, but use alarms at other times. RE: Using the timer with Siri, was timer on BARD
Hi Iona. This is a way to set what happens when the timer ends, but you would have to do this each time you wanted to change the sound or not have a sound. . You can have it not make a sound when it finishes the count, but if you changed your mind and wanted to then have a sound at the end of the count, you would have to go to this same dialog and select one. I'm still trying to trick Siri into making it not play a sound when it ends even though I have one set, but, so far, no luck. RE: timer on BARD
Perhaps I'm missing something here but when I want to use the sleep timer with BARD or any media playback, I do the following either before or after starting playback: 1. Single-finger tap and hold near the bottom edge of the screen until a double-pop is heard. 2. Release and then single-finger swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen. This brings up Control Center. 3. Double-tap the Clock button. 4. Assuming you've already got the timer in focus and set to stop playing and you've already set your countdown to a desired time, single-finger double-tap Start. 5. I am not a new user but would prefer that the BARD app have its own timer,. Easier to reset if the original time turns out to be too short. Hi, I guess this really depends. For example, if I want to reset the timer, I just use Siri. So lets say I originally set my timer for 30 minutes. The nice thing about the timer is, you have the opportunity to select hours instead of if you know you'll be awake longer then an hour. Hi, you can also ask Siri to set the timer which is a lot easier than doing it manually. Example. Set timer for 1 hour and 15 minutes. At any time you wish, you can say 'show timer' and you are told how many hours and/or minutes are left. RE: timer on BARD
It works, but I still wish they would have added a sleep timer like Audible has, that said after I read about 6 hours of a book last night while mostly sleeping because I forgot to go to clock and change timer setting for this to happen. I use the timer a lot for other things and prefer not to have to change the sound I hear when it is done timing. Guess next time I read in bed I need to use the Audible app. From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Christopher Chaltain Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 2:51 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: timer on BARD Use the Timer tab in the clock app. The Clock app should be on your home pages, and it's also in the Control Center. RE: timer on BARD
Hi, When I go to the timer tab and then I go to the bottom where VO says stop playing and I double tap on that it doesn't say anything. How do I know I have stop playing selected? When I tried selecting it and set the timer the alarm just went off until I hit ok. So what am I doing wrong here to get the Bard book to stop playing? Also how do I set the timer. I know I can set it with Siri. I would like to know how to set it when I am on the timer tab. It says something about sliding my finger to set it but that isn't working for me. What am I doing wrong? Re: timer on BARD
Double tap the When timer ends control. On the next page, go to the bottom and double tap Stop playing. You'll hear a beep and VoiceOver will repeat Stop playing. Now double tap the Set button at the top of the screen, and you'll see that where it says When timer ends, it now says Stop playing next to it. To set the timer in the Timer tab, you'll see two controls at the top of the screen. The first will say something like 0 hours, picker item, adjustable after a pause, you'll then hear swipe up or down to adjust. The second control will say something like 18 minutes, picker item, adjustable. To set the timer, flick left or right to get to one of those controls. Once you're on one of those controls, flick up or down to change the setting. Once you have the hours and minutes set to what you want, swipe right a few times and double tap on the start button. Re: timer on BARD
Hi, Judy Dixon did a wonderful podcast on accessibleworld.org on Monday night and it's now archived on that site. She did say that they are working on putting in a timer in a future update of the BARD app. Unfortunately, I don't have the direct link to the podcast, but it's under the archived section of accessibleworld.org. Hope you have a chance to give a listen. Esther L Sent from Esther's Amazing iPhone! Re: timer on BARD
I personally think that using the phone's timer is a great one and if I ever decided to use that feature that is brilliant. The timer goes off when the time is up, so you can start the timer before or after you start reading the book. You then double tap on the what you want to happen button and select stop playing from the bottom of the list. It's below all of the alarm tones you can choose. Once you've done that, you just double tap the start button and the timer starts counting down. timer on bard
when you're talking about the timer in the clock app, you're referring to the clock that's in the utilities folder, am I right? I didn't know how that worked, how to set it. All I saw was numbers, I think up to 24 hours. Was I looking in the wrong place? Patti -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: timer on bard
It's the native Clock app on your iPhone. I'm not sure if it started out in the Utilities folder or not, but if that's where you find it then yes, that's the app. You can also get to it through the control Center. To set the timer, you need to double tap on the Timer tab on the bottom of the screen. You use the pickers to set how much time you want to elapse and then pick an alarm or stop playing option when the timer goes off. When you double tap the start button, you should see the time start to tick down.
