Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2014-03-04 Thread Pablo Morales
even though, with voice dream, you can search part of the text in the
document, and it gives you the results like jaws does with word index. It is
a very nice tool, because like this we can find text, descriptions,
definitions, formulas, in the whole document, in an easyer way than sliding
line by line on the text. More over, the time that you can go back or
forward is something that you can modify to the value that you want.

I'm confused, here. Are you saying that you can't see you the text using
voice over if you just put one finger on the screen and moving around? I'm
able to access the text voice over, and even navigate through it.

Thanks,
Ari

2014-03-04 Thread Sandratomkins
Hi Winston,
First of all, let me say that I love Voice Dream reader. However, since the
latest update, I have been experiencing great difficulty when using the app. I
should explain that I listen to books, when I am reading in English, using
Daniel the voice-over voice. My problem occurs when I try to pause or restart
the reading. I tend to have to either press the pause/play button three times
all make the two finger double tap, also, three times, before anything happens.
Plus, when I restart reading, I find the cursor has moved on quite a long way
through the text. So, I wonder, are you looking into this? Or, perhaps, it is
only me and I will have to try to reinstall the app?

Thanks for your time,
Sandy

I know about the problem you're describing. Believe it or not, it's caused by a
bug in the built-in IOS voices. These problems do not occur with Heather, or
any of the paid voices.

This problem will go away in iOS 7.1 -- I verified it in iOS 7.1 beta.

Winston.

I also experience this issue with having to press the play/pause button but
with the iOS female voice. I either use her or James as I've found them to
be the most reliable for overall pronunciation. For whatever reason, I
don't' have a problem with starting speech when using James either by
pressing the play/pause button or the two finger double tap.

It goes without saying, the app is great and is my prefered reading tool for
non-audiobooks.

etc. Of course, this won't be an issue once VoiceOver is able to see
the text, but it is an issue for now. Perhaps with VoiceOver able to
track where you are, and some more navigation options i.e. forcing
the rewind and fast forward to navigate by sentence rather than in
thirty second increments, I'll be able to rely on the app.

 Cheers.

I'm confused, here. Are you saying that you can't see you the text using voice

Hi,

If you ever read Bookshare files with a braille display, Read2Go is a better
option because you can read a whole section, such as a chapter, of a book
continuously, while with Voice Dream Reader, you have to switch screens
manually every few lines. The last time I tried this, the last line from the
previous screen appeared at the top of the next one, making reading braille
even more annoying. Also, if you ever want to use audio-only DAISY books or
DAISY books with text and audio, you'll need Read2Go to hear the audio. For
reading with synthesized speech, however, Voice Dream is a great option.

Best,
Anna

RE: voice dream or read 2 go?

2013-07-03 Thread Sarah Cranston
I do agree that Voice Dream has a far more advanced set of features. There is
very little that app won't do in regards to reading any kind of document.
However, I still use Read2Go more often, for one reason. I really don't like
the Acapella or NeoSpeech voices. I vastly prefer to read text files with
Samantha. I know, this puts me in the minority, but you know what they say
about opinions. *Smile!* So it depends on your personal preference. If you
enjoy reading with Acapella or NeoSpeech voices, Voice Dream is definitely the
way to go.

RE: voice dream or read 2 go?

2013-07-03 Thread Scott Duck
Hi Caitlyn,

If it's one or the other, to me it's Voice Dream, hands down. I have used
the Read2go app ever sense it came out (I got it the day it was released).
One thing that I didn't like about it was the lack of flexibility in
navigation. With Voice Dream, you can move by adjustable time increment,
page, or heading. You can go to page or go to percent. You have many many
voices that you can download for two or three dollars (depending on which
voice). You can put VO focus in the text window and move by character,
word, or line. You can search the text. You can download directly from
BookShare as well as several other sources. You can read PDF files
directly, without having to export the text first. It has Drop Box
integration so you can very easily copy files to the app that you can't
directly download. I like it so much that I have started using it for all
of my reading of text content. I recently bought a second generation VR
Stream, primarily for the Acapela voices, but I like this app so much that I
just sold the Stream.

Also, I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem but, starting
with the Read2go update last September, it started to frequently pause when
reading in some books, about every cupple scentences. The pause was just a
second or so but was very annoying. I have not had this problem with Voice
Dream.

Thanks,
Scott Duck

I recently bought Voice Dream and the optional Neospeech Kate voice. I
primarily use it for books from bookshare and unprotected epub. Up until
now, I was using my Booksense. I'm happy to say I now use Voice Dream for
this purpose. I feel the Neospeech used by Voice Dream is a higher quality
than on my Booksense. I must say, I'm really impressed with this app.

Re: voice dream or read 2 go?

2013-07-03 Thread Woody Anna Dresner

Best,
Anna

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-06-29 Thread Melissa Jenkins
Hello,

I would like to get voice dream reader for my physically disabled son, but
we need the feature that will allow him to read the books without voice.
He has a bookshare account. Is there a way to turn off the voice and still
read the text? Thanks.

If you have your own DAISY books, it is actually possible to open it. I

Take your .zip DAISY book and change .zip to .daisy.
Put the file in Dropbox, and open it from Voice Dream Reader.
I heard that the directory structure in the zip file must be correct:
same as the DIASY files you download from Bookshare. If that's the case, it
 should work.
 Best,

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-03-01 Thread Brett

 Hi,

You are really doing a fantastic job. Since purchasing your app, I have
uninstalled four different apps I use to use to read with, since Voice
Dream can replace them.

A long term wish would be that when importing a PDF, or HTML file that
the table of contents would show up in the bookmarks list and that if
headings were present, that we could navigate by them. I realise that
this app is still quite new, and will develop with time, but I am still
extremely happy with this app the way it currently is and am constantly
talking it up to all my friends.

You have done a great job so far, please keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Brett.

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-03-01 Thread Winston
Of course, Voice Dream Reader can download DAISY books from Bookshare.
If you have your own DAISY books, it is actually possible to open it. I
haven't publicized it.
Take your .zip DAISY book and change .zip to .daisy.
Put the file in Dropbox, and open it from Voice Dream Reader.
I heard that the directory structure in the zip file must be correct: same
as the DIASY files you download from Bookshare. If that's the case, it
should work.
Best,
Winston.

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-28 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi Winston. What I really like about Voice Dream Reader is how it
basically treats the reading of books as if it was playing audio. This
makes the double-tap with 2 fingers pause and play the speaking of the
text. That is one of its best features I think. If the next update works
as you describe below with the text showing up on screen for Voice Over
users, it will be enough for me to possibly change all my text reading
from ILike2Read to Voice Dream Reader. One thing I'm wondering is if you
have plans on making the app appear in iTunes so you can add files
directly to it using the file sharing feature. I thought it was there,
but can't find it in the list of file sharing apps when my phone is
connected.

Thanks.

iTunes file transfer is coming in the next release also. It should be out
in the wild in a few days.
To all, you can join the Voice Dream Facebook
page, http://www.facebook.com/voicedreamreader, or follow @VoiceDreamApp on
Twitter. I try to keep everyone informed on what I'm working on.

I thought it was there,
but can't find it in the list of file sharing apps when my phone is
 connected.

 Thanks.

Hi,

Voice dream has a sleep timer. The next update is suppose to allow us to see
the text, so it should be able to read with VoiceOver if you desire.

Voice dream also is being actively updated and the author is very receptive to
user suggestions, unlike read to go.

Voice dream has many more voices to choose from, plus the voices are not
choppy unlike read to go especially when speeded up.

For mind voice dream is the better option, not unlike read to go, voice dream
will not do audio only daisy files, so I guess it depends on what types of
daisy books you will be reading.

voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-25 Thread Martin Nelson
Hello: I am wondering which of the two apps in the subject is recommended to
purchase. At present I have no reading program. I have an account with
Bookshare and see that both Voice Dream and Read 2 Go allow to download and
read Bookshare's books. It seems that Voice Dream is less expensive. Any
thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I believe you will need read to go regardless I may be wrong in this and
just began using voice dream this afternoon. the speech is far better than
in read to go, but the read 2 go app has many navigation options that voice

Re: voice dream virsus read 2 go

2013-02-25 Thread Charles Dean
Read 2 go has much better navigation and I prefer to use the voice over voice
which is not an option with voice dream.
I downloaded a book from book share with no problems with voice dream, although
it took a bit longer than read 2 go.
If you plan to read novels and other books that do not require much navigation,
then voice dream may be a good, less expensive choice for you.
I believe this app will work by itself, and you do not need Reed to go in order
to operate it.

Voice dream has many more voices to choose from, plus the voices are not choppy

For mind voice dream is the better option, not unlike read to go, voice dream

You can read each section continuously using VO in Read2Go. I do it all the

this is most often by chapter (unless you have Read2Go set to show each page).

Read 2 go will read continually With voice over, until the end of a chapter or

swipe to start reading again. I find this feature advantageous because some

purchase. At present I have no reading program. I have an account with
Bookshare and see that both Voice Dream and Read 2 Go allow to download and
read Bookshare's books. It seems that Voice Dream is less expensive. Any
thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
 Thank you.
 Martin Nelson
