Re: how to delete all emails at once instead of selecting 1 at a time
The way I do it on my iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.4 he is while on the list of the emails or should I say the inbox. I simply swipe down with one finger and then you will have the options of more or delete or trash or archive depending on the you email service that you're using. Then you simply double tap on whichever action you want. This method deletes one email at a time but it is pretty efficient. Free Kindle books
I got this from the Kim Komando website and it is great. I have already downloaded two of the books so I can try out the Kindle app. I was Leary that Amazon would charge but the receipts came in at $0.00. You can search by subjects or new additions or by title, etc. When you click through to the Amazon site just be sure to check that the Kindle price is still $0.00. Although the site has fiction I get my fiction from BARD but this is a good source for nonfiction for me. Sort of like getting a Christmas present. Re: Fantastical 2 and custom repeating events
Merry Christmas Wayne, If you start experimenting in the custom screen, you will be pleasantly surprised. Your example of having an event repeat Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you would have the number in the first column 1, then flick up on where it says day, to change it to weeks, then flicck right and double-tap on the days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Hit done or back, I don't recall right now which it is on that screen. You now have an event that will show up three times each week. As you change one column, if you flick around, you will find other options appear. You can do just about any combination you can think of. Re: Apple TV
Hi all. Well, finally I had to ask help to some friends, and I have my apple tv working. Now, I have a question about the sharing files in iTunes. I have a Pc, no a Mac. I have movies in the hard drive of my Pc, but here comes my problem. 1. If I add the whole movies that I have in my hard drive, to put all of them in the library of iTunes. I do it, because I want those movies to be played in my apple TV. 2. If later I connect my iPhone, and I sink my iPhone, them the movies that are in the library will be copy to my iPhone? 3. I don't want it. It is something that I didn't understand pretty well. Can I get a library for my iPhone, with the content that I want in my iPhone, like books, audio books, and music. And another library where I will get the movies for my apple TV? How can I share movies in the iTunes library, and at the same time, not transfering these movies to my iPhone every time when I sink my iPhone with iTunes? RE: Apple TV
Hi Pablo, Adding media like music or movies to your iTunes library will not automatically sync them to your iPhone. You would have to first connect your iPhone to iTunes, select Movies, Music etc. and specify if you want to sync, in your case, movies. If you want to sync certain movies but not all you can even do this by selecting to sync selected movies and then check those you want to sync. In any case, you can safely add all your movies to iTunes, they will not automatically sync to your phone, but they will be available to be played on hyour Apple TV provided of course they are in a format the Apple TV can play. Re: Location tracking and Google now
Thanks, Ricardo. I know I can go and disable location services for Google now. That is what I have done. However, that kind of makes Google now not nearly as useful as it otherwise might be. I don't understand why, if the app is not running, location services for it are still on. That was really my question. For example, I have GPS apps where the location services are enabled. But when those apps are not running or are not in the app switcher, location tracking for them is not on, and I don't see location tracking on in the status bar. I would expect Google now to behave this same way. But it does not. Re: Wells fargo
Hi, this won't work. Any time you download any app from the app store, regardless of whether your friend has the older app on his device and you are using his account on yours, you will get the latest. People shouldn't share apple IDs anyway for this. The only way to revert back to your older app is for you, and only you to have a back up of it before you upgraded. Then put that back up in the Mobile Applications folder, re-sync and hope. Good luck. -- Raul A. Re: iOS7 Jailbreak Released
Hi, when I read about this the news was the many tweaks which depend on mobile substrait were not working reliably. Just give it time though, and eventually you will find that the tweaks which might not be ready for iOS 7 will eventually become so. I also plan on jailbreaking, but I'm not in any hurry. As much as I like jailbroken access and freedom, I have to admit that iOS 7 has done a great job more so than past major versions and I haven't missed the jailbreak from iOS 4, 5, and 6 as much as I thought I would. -- Raul A. I would suggest that people wait a few days before jailbreaking their devices so we are able to gage the reliability of the jailbreak; this has always been my recommendation for jailbreaks but it is more important with this one than previous ones due to a potentially incompatible version of Cydia. Having said this, I intend to jailbreak an iPad running 7 later today and will report back once done. For those of you wanting to give it a go, visit http://evasi0n.com/ to get started. Some frequently asked questions relating to jailbreaking and some things to bare in mind: 1: Before applying the jailbreak make sure that you updated to iOS7 through iTunes as opposed to the over the air method. 2: Perform a backup via iTunes or iCloud just to be safe. 3: Voiceover is unaffected. 4: If something doesn't work out or if you don't like your phone being jailbroken you can restore through iTunes to undoo it. 5: Jailbreaking does void your warranty. It is however worth baring in mind that if your phone is still usable enough that iTunes sees it, you can simply restore it to a non jailbroken iOS7 and Apple will not know that you were previously jailbroken. 6: Jailbreaking brings lots of benefits; have a Google or read some of the previous posts on this list or Applevis to get an idea of the possibilities. Hi Raul, Thanks for your post. You stated the answer better than I whenI posted a few days ago (if it got posted). I'm hoping your post on this hypothetical thread situation can now be put to rest. I am one who backs up my phone to my computer periodically, so I have a a version that has not become broken as a backup. This should be a best practice by all, but I sometimes don't do it myself as regularly as I would like. Thanks again for your clear explanation of this on the list. Re: how to delete all emails at once instead of selecting 1 at a time
This is one of the reasons I still jail break. There is a app called “mail delete” If you go to the bottom right corner whil you are in 1 of your mail boxes, there is a delete all button, it asks you if your sure, you double tap and they are gone. Like I said, this is a jail break app, not an IOS app. Kliphton ~iMessage&Email~ kliphton@outlook.com ~Twitter,Instagram, foursquare&Skype~ kliphton72 [Text only] 914-820-2298 (Personal blog-read at your own risk!) http://kliphskorner.wordpress.com On Dec 24, 2013, at 9:01 PM, Ricardo Walker wrote: > Hi, > > Nope. Minimac emergency questions, OT
I know this is totally off topic. I wrote to Raul privately thinking I had a few weeks to answer my questions and help with group site. However, my brother and sister-in-law bought me a Minimac. What is the address to MacVissionaries,, and where are there some very, very basic tutorials/podcasts? Just so I know. Does anyone know if the Mac need to have all windows closed before shutting down, and if so, how do I close windows and apps? I have been through the on-screen tutorial, which is awesome, but I think I misunderstood something or I am doing the wrong command. I also cannot get from the toolbar in Safari to the webpage with the links or I could access applevis. I was on the site but could not interact with it. Anyone with emergency help? Thanks in advance ever so much. I never saw this coming! Total and oh so sweet surprise!! reggie and Allegra -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Re: iPhone 5c opinion
Hello. Lol, I agree with the first half, but not with the 2nd so much. People buy what they can afford. Depending on where you live, and your personal economic conditions, what you or I might consider to be a measly difference in price, might be a couple months pay to someone. Since this is very much an international list, I think we should keep that in mind when we call hundreds of dollars measly. And some people honestly don’t need nor want the latest and greatest. From 2010 to 2012 I’ve gotten the latest iPhone. The 4, 4S, and the 5. This year I have decided to hold off. Yes, the touch ID is really convenient, and the phone has a certain level of future proof with its new 64 bit processor, but using the iPhone 5 and 5s side by side, I honestly didn’t think there was a world of difference. I mean, on average apps might have launched half a second faster. If a person is looking to upgrade, I believe in getting the best you can afford when it comes to mobile tech. Especially if your using a screen reader. But for the average user, your not going to see a really big difference between a 5C and a 5s from a real world usage point of view when touch ID is taken out of the equation. JMO. Re: iPhone 5c opinion
My wife and I got her a 5C when it first came out. Internally, it's basically the same at the iPhone 5, making it last year's iPhone and this year's midrange iPhone between the 5s and the 4S. It also has a plastic colorful back, which I think makes it a nicer looking phone, but that's obviously a personal opinion. reviews say it's a bit more fragile than the 4S or the 5s. My wife and I were replacing her stolen iPhone 5, and she's been happy with it. The 5s will be a faster phone, and it has the finger print scanner. The difference in price between the 5C and the 5s wasn't as large as I would have thought it would have been, so if you can spring for the 5s you should and you would be getting a better phone. If that price difference is significant to you, and depending on how you use your phone, the 5C could also be a perfectly viable choice. Re: Making iphone contacts on windows
It's definitely doable. I use an extension in Thunderbird and sync my contacts with Google contacts. If you're interested in my set up, I can provide more information. If you're using another email client or contact manager on Windows, like Outlook, then I'm sure others can help you. I assume you can also sync your contacts with Apple's icloud as well, so you may be able to enter your contacts in Outlook and then sync them between your phone and PC with iCloud. In the United States, the price difference between an unsubsidized 5C and 5S is $100. This makes the price of a 5S 18 percent more than the 5C. Re: Minimac emergency questions, OT
Hi, the group site for macvisionaries is http://groups.google.com/group/macvisionaries. Just a quick FYI, its called a Mac Mini. :). No, windows and applications do not need to be closed before shutting down a Mac. Actually, there is a setting were you can have your Mac reopen opened windows and apps after a restart. But to close a window, press command W. To Close an app, press command Q. As far as accessing content on the web, you need to navigate to the html content area, and interact. Interacting is done with control option, shift, and the down arrow pressed at the same time. One thing, Mac minis work best with Voiceover when attached to a monitor or television. I’m not sure if you were aware of this or not. You can find a lot of getting started podcasts from vision Australia at http://www.visionaustralia.org/living-with-low-vision/learning-to-live-independently/using-technology-and-computers/help-yourself!-technology-podcasts-and-resources/computer-access. hth Ricardo Walker rica...@appletothecore.info Twitter:@apple2thecore www.appletothecore.info On Dec 25, 2013, at 4:42 PM, Regina Alvarado wrote: > I know this is totally off topic. Welcome. When I checked the supported languages for VoiceOver, it was great to find Indonesian on the list. The list is in English and folks generally write answers for other native English speakers. Putting your country in your e-mail address enables me to be mindful that you are not a North American like most on the list so I can be sure to offer an expanded response with context. I remember the days where only Americans could officially obtain a dot com e-mail address, making it easier to identify those outside the United States. Re: apple tv, and network problem
Hi Pablo, I was curious to see if my home sharing was working since you were having problems getting it to work. I opened iTunes on my Mac Air and checked if home sharing was on. I then went to my Apple TV and set that up. On the first row in the main menu, in the fifth position is the computer link. I used the select button on the Apple TV remote. VO announced my library associated to my email address for iTunes. It did not start immediately and I needed to go in and out of it a few times before it would connect. I am now listening to my music that is stored in iTunes through the Apple TV as I compose this message to you. HTH. Raul & All, I beg to differ. My serino was not a hypothetical one. I share an iTunes account with my 3 youngest children. My 17 year old son has his own iTunes account. There are a few games that my son and his sister can go head to head playing using their seperate devices. To keep from having to pay double for the games, I log off of the combined iTunes account, log into my son's account and download the game(s) onto my daughter's device, then log out of my son's account and back into the shared account. Recently, I updated one of the games that my two children play head to head. My daughter was having problems with the updated version. My son had not updated the version on his iPod. So I deleted the game from my daughter's iPad, logged out of our shared account, logged into my son's account, was able to download the prevvious version of the game onto my daughter's iPad, log out of my son's account, log back into our shared account. This also works for books. The drawback to this is when there is a necessary update to a game or book, I will have to log out of our shared iTunes account, sign into my son's account to download the update, then re-log into our shared account. So I can't see why this wouldn't work with retreiving a previous version of the Wells Fargo app from a family member or a dear friend. You have the option to believe me and save money or not and spend extra on games, books etc when there is a copy already saved to an idevice within your household. I choose to save. Donna Hi, this won't work. Good luck. -- Raul A. Mr X then signs into his friend Mr C Apple account using the login username and password of his best friend Mr C. Mr X goes to the app store from his iPhone finds the Wells Fargo app from the purchased apps list of his friend Mr C. Mr X downloads the Wells Fargo app directly onto his iPhone. Once the download has completed Mr X signs out of his friend Mr C account. Mr X now signs back into his own Apple account. Mr X should find the accessible Wells Fargo app among the apps on his iPhone. While smiling Mr X can move the Wells Fargo app into its place within Mr X chosen folder. Mr C knows that this will definately work because he and Mrs C does this all the time. This is their way of having to only pay for the more expensive apps and share books. Re: apple tv, and network problem
Hi Eileen Well, I don't know what else to do. I wrote my apple account in the settings of my apple tv. It said, fine. I wrote my apple account password, and again, it said, fine. When I go to computers, I click on this icon, then my apple tv says loading library, and after a while, it says; Not able to connect to library, make sure that both devises are connected to the same network. iTunes is out of date, and iTunes is open. I don't know why it says iTunes is out of date, because I have the last version, I downloaded it from apple.com yesterday. More over, in my iTunes, when I went to home sharing, Iit is saying now turn home sharing off, because it is on now. When I turned it on, it asked me my apple account, and password. and after press enter, it says, done. But I can't connect my library. Re: apple tv, and network problem
Hi Pablo, I would like some info from you. I am running iTunes 11.1.2 on both my PC and Mac Air. Under the file tab, there is a menu item for home sharing. Make sure you that the option listed is to turn off home sharing connected to your email account. This will confirm if home sharing is on for iTunes. I can't remeber if the home sharing in your network settings need to be on. On the PC, I clicked on Control panel --Network and sharing and tabbed over to "Choose Home Group and Sharing." This will open a dialog box that you can check or uncheck boxes on the items you want to share. I don't know if this will fix it, but it's worth a try. HTH. Hi Eileen Well, my itunes version is... let me see. iTunes 11.1.3 and yes, in the menu file of iTunes, in home sharing, it says turn off home sharing and my apple account user name. But in my shared files I don't have it as sharing files, because iTunes should do it, I guess. Now, what folders do you have checked in the sharing folders in the control panel? I mean, the library in iTunes is a virtual list of media files, some are in various folders or locations, so witch folder do you share? Thanks! Re: apple tv, and network problem
Eileen. I don't know why, I am starting to see that maybe the problem is my router. Why? Well, I didn't know it, but some times at home, my iPhone is missing the connection to the wifi, and some times my thermostat also, it is wifi too. More over, I reset my apple tv, and when I tried to connect it to my wifi, I couldn't, and each time I was looking more or less networks available around my router. I will try to do a firmware update, but linksys is not very helful with the model number, on the sticker says one model that is not available on the support site of linksys. I don't know, but I am starting to see that the problem is maybe my router. Oh, I got a linksys e1000, but the model number should be 2.1, 2.0, or 1.0 and any reference like that is on the sticker, so I don't know what to do now. - Original Message - From: Eileens Misrahi To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, December 25, 2013 8:43 PM Subject: Re: apple tv, and network problem Hi Pablo, I would like some info from you. I used the select button on the Apple TV remote. VO announced my library associated to my email address for iTunes. It did not start immediately and I needed to go in and out of it a few times before it would connect. On-screen keyboard. With focus Braille
I've set on-screen keyboard to off in settings but it still shows up when I'm using the focus 40 blue. It also shows up when I'm using the Braille Penn. this is new behavior. I don't know precisely when it started. My guess is sometime after updating to iOS seven. home sharing not working. headache with apple tv
Hi all. Ok, my apple tv is not able to get my iTunes library, even getting the home sharing on in iTunes in my computer. I was thinking that the problem is my router firmware, but I did the update, and I am not able to get the iTunes library with my apple tv, or with remote in my iPhone either. Now, I am guessing. could be that my fire wall software is blocking the connection? I am using eset smart something, it is antivirus, fire wall, antispam, antitroyans, antiHackers, antiEveryThing, and maybe it is the problem. even though, this soft is not pretty accessible with jaws. I don't know if I should do something to let this software knows that I need allow the trafic for witch ports? maybe it is not the problem, but the router is not the problem either, and if my apple tv and my iPhone are not able to see the iTunes library, maybe the problem is in the computer. it could be true? Hi Brian, It's an iOS bug which occurs, I believe, no matter which Braille display you are using. I think it started with iOS 6 but, at this point, really can't remember with 100% certainty. Read2Go & daisy images books
Hoping someone can offer me some insight about read to go and book format. Recently I attempted to download some books through the app. However, instead of downloading in Daisy as usual, instead I got a pop-up saying I would get an email with a link and could then downloaded in daisy with images format, through the browser. I am familiar with this process and format on the computer. However, I did not think it was a possibility to utilize this format through the app on the iPhone. Is it possible or not? What are some possibilities as for why the default format now seems to be Daisy with images, instead of regular Daisy? Perhaps book share implemented it as the default download formats now, or perhaps I unknowingly changed some setting? Thanks for any thoughts on the subject. :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Post a new message to VIPhone by emailing viphone@googlegroups.com.
