Hello Barry,
I work in digital preservation at the National Library and we are interested in
any software to get our IIc up and running to test accessing manuscript
material.
The machine would be nice too but having moved from Perth to Canberra I know
all too well the distance and cost.
Any boot disks or word processing spreadsheet software especially of interest.

Douglas

The machine appears to now have a new home. I will try to find where all the
software went, I know there was an appleworks or similar spreadsheet
programme at one stage but the basic use of the machine was to run titrations
so this may have disappeared.

Re: iPhone 4

2010-08-09 Thread Daniel Kerr

Hi Adrian

I don't have an iPhone 4 as yet, but I'm 99% sure it will just plug into
anything the previous iPhone's did. As Apple didn't change the Dock
Connector, so it's still the same as the previous models. Just the shape of
the iPhone changed.

Depending on your model car, there are lots of different Bluetooth things
that can work. If it's something you want to just plug in, then Belkin and
Kensington and companies like that make things.
If however you want to get something hard-wired into your car, then you
either contact your car manufacturer to see what they do for it.
Or you can contact clients of mine, called Install-a-gadget. If it plugs
into a car, they can pretty much install it.
(They even do those cool under car lights etc.)
You can contact them on 0414 433 899. Either Kylie or Paul.
Just say I referred you, and they'll look after you ;)

Hope that helps.

Kind Regards
Daniel

Hi Chris,

I've replied to your email to WAMUG Mailing list as you are more likely to

In answer to your question below:
Go to System Preferences Network
Select your connection in the left hand column
Click 'Advanced'
Check under TCP/IP - Router: Is it showing the Router's IP Address there?

Under 'DNS' and in DNS Servers, click + and type in the Router's IP Address as
the DNS Server on your MacBook Pro.

I have an unusual problem it seems using the above system with a 15

link to Whirlpool about it (dated Nov 2008) I received from a very
helpful manager at Telstra Countrywide in Bunbury who is as baffled as
myself about the new modem/router I purchased a few months ago.

 http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1096198.html

The baffling thing is that his loan router he has sent me (so I can
still be online) actually does work with my mac, but the new one doesnt
and we cannot understand why. The new one has exactly the same problem
and the guy describes in the first post of the forum ie I can get
online for about a minute before I get no connection. I have to
constantly restart the modem, or go into the bigpond admin page to
restart the software. The funny thing is he can use this new modem with
no worries on his PC at his work in Bunbury. This is the second new
modem I have had and it does the same thing.

If anyone has any experience like this I would love to hear if you have
been able to find a solution.

The telstra bloke is coming around again to set it up and go through a
few ideas he has after speaking with people at his work.

Many thanks for any help and advice on this problem

 kind regards

Citrix client setup

2010-08-09 Thread Peter Hinchliffe

Is there anyone on the list with experience in setting up the latest Citrix
Client software on a Mac? The documentation to this stuff could not possibly be
more vague or confusing. I have a client who needs to access a web site which
requires this stuff. The documentation is fraught with blind alleys and
circular links, so I need some way to break through. Any assistance will be
very gratefully received.

Sick Mac Mini Question

2010-08-09 Thread Andrew Schox

Hi all,

I have an Intel Mac mini which suddenly started having kernel panics (even when
trying to boot from a DVD). I managed to erase the hard disk, reinstall the OS,
and download all the software updates. All was fine for almost two days, but
now I am back to the kernel panics again.

Does this sound like a hardware problem?

Cheers,

Andrew

Used Macbook

2010-08-09 Thread Pat

Hi, Daniel,

I'm trying to work out a solution to the failing health of our old, dying, VCR.
There aren't many around these days, so I was hoping to jump to a
saving-to-disk solution.

We have a large CRT tv (3 years old) plus a set top box to receive digital. I
have been considering getting an Elgato Video Capture Cable but we will still
need either a Mac Mini or a laptop (or a keyboard) plus other bits as an
interface. We are not quite ready to buy a digital tv, and we only want to
record and replay tv programs.

My main question to you is, do you have a used laptop with the right specs for
sale?
Intel Core Duo processor
512MB of RAM
Built-in USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard or later
QuickTime v7.6 or later
iTunes v8.1 or later

Any info or advice will be gratefully received.

It's almost certainly hardware-related, but that could be anything from a
problem on the logic board through to a bad peripheral device. The first thing
do to is to run the machine with everything disconnected if possible (well,
perhaps a monitor and keyboard at minimum :-) ) and see if it still happens.

Re: Sick Mac Mini Question

2010-08-09 Thread Andrew McColl

Yep.

If you're seeing Kernal Panics when you try and boot off DVD and after
you've reinstalled the Operating System then its fairly likely that
its Hardware. Might be faulty RAM or possibly a failing Logic Board.
If its still under warranty fire it in to an Authorised Apple Hardware
Tech and they can diagnose it for you pretty quickly.

If you want to play with this more yourself you could try reseating
the RAM or removing one stick and seeing if the problem goes away. If
it doesn't replace and try removing the other.

Good luck.

It depends what's running at the other end. I have clients who access the Dep

My wife is able to access her work environment also using just the web plugin

And you could try booting up off the Installation DVD in diagnostic

Re: Sick Mac Mini Question

2010-08-09 Thread Craig Bruce

It does sound like a hardware issue due to the fact you are still getting
panics from the dvd, ram is the most likely cause but there are many things
that could cause it.
Fortunately ram is well priced these days if that is the issue..

Your always welcome to bring it down to us to diagnose if you get stuck
