hi all

i agree with susan and stuart about ronni's contribution to this
forum.

i guess we always want to take the easy way out, but dont forget
that ronni has her own life to run, let alone for us on this forum.

lets think about it this way:
if there wasnt any ronni, what other ways would we go about solving
our problems?

lets not take ronni for granted, solve our problems ourselves 1st
(googling or other resources), before coming here and direct our
problems specifically to ronni (or waiting and hope that ronni
solves our problems when it could also be easily solved by googling,
rather than make ronni do all the work we could do ourselves).

Hi, it seems pretty simple to me. Follow the link at the bottom of
each WAMUG email, then follow the link on the page. You can then
enter your topic (i.e. imovie) and see lots of emails relating to
that topic.

It does seem that Ronni is often helping people with things they
could find in the Help menu of the program they are using, or by
doing a google for discussion forums, etc.

Her detailed 'how tos' are great and easy to follow, but we can't
assume that she always has the time to spare.

So, how about it folks, lets take up Mike's challenge to do a bit
more of the work ourselves.

cheers, Susan.

2010-01-17 Thread Ronda Brown

Hi Paul,

No-one is being a Critic, no-one is intending to make anyone feel guilty!

What you have said below is correct, it is my choice whether I respond to WAMUG
Mailing list questions or not.

The people who are showing concern for me know how hard and the long hours I
work. As well as assisting on WAMUG I also have my Clients to look after.
They also know that I over extend myself and start to Burn Out, sometimes
resulting in me having to leave WAMUG for a while.

I am my worst enemy ... I find it extremely hard to not help people, I guess
you could say obsessed with helping people, this is my nature, and I'm too old
to change my ways. What I have to try to do is regain some balance ;-)

What I find difficult and so time consuming with WAMUG, is a lot of people (not
all), don't give enough information with their first email to the list.
What Operating System, the Specifications of their computer, what version of
the Application they are having the problem with, when did the problem arise
(after an update or install of anything new). Also a good Subject heading for
their problem so people can search the Archives.
We who are trying to help, then have to email back forward to gain the
information, so we can help solve the problem.
Sometimes it is as hard as Pulling Teeth to eventually Get the whole story.

The Guidelines and Etiquette of WAMUG Mailing list link is on the bottom of
every WAMUG email, which is similar to above.

I believe in WAMUG and don't wish to see if ever disband. And yes, I do enjoy
helping WAMUG.

Kind Regards,

Ronni

I'm seeing a lot of detailed one-to-one QA sessions that seem to require a
fair bit of 'have you tried...' that indicate to me that many of the enquirers are
not searching the archives first or doing some basic googling before asking the
list the answers to their queries.

Suggestion 1: Ronni, why not wait 24 to 48 hrs before answering? Maybe then
some of the other knowledgeable folks might start to respond to queries.

Suggestion 2: Everyone...do some homework first; look in the archives, google
the various mac forums for answers, then come in with the query with some
indication of what you've tried, what your system configuration is, what the
specific problem is, etc.

Ronni's too valuable a resource to get overworked! Hate to lose her...

Cheers
Mike

Entourage problem

Sun, 27 Sep 2009 20:51:20 -0700

Hi all,

I am using the v12.1.1 of Entourage 2008.

I have been getting an error about one of my rules (saying it can't
find a

folder). When I go to ToolsRules... The rule is no longer listed there
(although the other ones are).

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Andrew

Yes, it seems to have restored since I sent my first note. A couple of nights
ago I noticed the archive page was completely unavailable. Recently, some posts
have taken days to appear on it.

Paul.

WAMUG archive link and itunes 2and 3

2002-10-02 Thread Robert Morgan
Does anyone know why the archive link to the WAMUG site isnt working? I
am having trouble organizing my compilations in itunes for OS 9 and X
and want to find a way of both versions of itunes accessing ALL my mp3's
without having to copy them into different locations. I also dont want
to waist time re-entering song details.

Please help! Robert

If you're using this link:
