I propose to link to the author's mail address. It doesn't make much
sense to link to Redmine, when the authors don't use it. :-)

Hi Florian,

although I think this would be great (btw: can we add something like an

a) existing extension (except the author response and give his OK)
and b) reserve a possibility that not every author do want to publish
his mail address

can we maybe add something like an alternative contact form?

I believe the mailinglist us...@global.libreoffice.org would be the better
choice for asking your question. This list here is really more about
questions and discussions about our website itself and not for answering
user questions about the program. Also, please be aware, that all our
mailinglists don't allow attachments. If you want to show a screenshot that
shows your problem, you will have to upload this image somewhere on the web
and then just post a link to the image in the email, so that other users
can go there and have a look at it.

[libreoffice-website] add more OS version to system requirements page

2014-08-13 Thread Sophie
Hi all,

Doing some QA and searching for duplicates, I found the request to add
those versions of OS:

Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2012
Windows 8.1

FreeBSD - Additionally, it could be mentioned in the system
requirements that LibreOffice runs on FreeBSD and is available in its
repositories as a package:
http://www.freebsd.org/applications.html
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/desktop-summary.html

to the system requirements page. Is it ok if I add them?
the issue is here
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71690

Cheers

I think there needs to be a better mechanism for QA (and others) to

Might it be prudent for us to have a list of maintainers for OSes
listed on the wiki?
(perhaps https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/OS)

That page could also describe our conditions for what OSes we support,
and give people information on how to propose and become the community
maintainer for a new OS.

I got this ticket but the extension is flagged for LibreOffice 3.5 and

issue.

If someone wants to work on that extension and create a new release for

But I think it's not a good idea to delist/delete etc. an extension that
is flagged for an older version of LibreOffice. It may also be an issue
from the license perspective (depends on the license):

the email-address or a link to a project resource is available inside

It's possible to contact the author of an extension, if you are logged

I've not tested it myself.

That would put the burden on the site-admins to forward the information

I looked around for an issue tracker inside Plone:

But I read about complaints that it went into a spam sink. Thus I would

and elect to update the code behind it to work with modern builds.

That being said, I think our #1 priority with the extension site is
providing a good experience to our userbase, so we need to make sure
that the interface makes it abundantly clear which versions of
LibreOffice are supported by a given extension. If someone tests an
extension with a newer version of LO and it works (or fails), we
should try to have some mechanism to make it possible for that
information to be collected and provided in a structured fashion back
to other users. People shouldn't just have to guess-and-check when
installing extensions.
