[Bug 17241] New: The diffonly URI parameter should cascade to Next edit and Previous edit diff links
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17241 Summary: The diffonly URI parameter should cascade to Next edit and Previous edit diff links Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.15-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: easy Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: User interface AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: h...@goldrush.com When browsing the diff history, I believe diffonly=0 and diffonly=nonzero, which currently override the diff suppression preference, should cascade to the ← Previous edit and Next edit → links shown in the diff table. [Bug 17242] New: GRAMMAR functionality should be accessible via hook
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17242 Summary: GRAMMAR functionality should be accessible via hook Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Internationalization AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: bugzilla.wikime...@publi.purodha.net CC: bugzilla.wikime...@publi.purodha.net With revision 39077, much of the implementations of the GRAMMAR functionality have been moved from MediaWiki proper to a more appropriate extension. While that is undoubtedly a good thing, there will be a problem with multiple such extensions, or in cases of laguages implementing more general GRAMMAR routines later, e.g. rule based ones. In order for those to coexist, both a hook-type access to the various GRAMMAR routines would be advisable, and ways allowing them to priorize themselves before being called. I have not inspected the R39077 changes in depth. Maybe I missed that there is such a mechanism already. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17237 --- Comment #3 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@home.nl 2009-01-30 11:37:15 UTC --- (In reply to comment #2) I just looked at bug 17215 again and there's talk of adding an index, something I have only a very vague understanding of, but I assume has the same intention of making revision/recentchanges queries easier. I guess that would be easier than a schema change. The basic idea of that index is that it makes it possible to retrieve the recentchanges entry for a certain revision efficiently, which semi-fixes this. Adding the bot and patrol flags to the revisions table makes more sense IMO, since, as Aryeh said on that bug, recentchanges serves just to summarize other tables, and as such should not contain 'new' information (i.e. information that isn't present in any other table). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 17246] New: Unify parameter names for various listings.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17246 Summary: Unify parameter names for various listings. Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Special pages AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: bugzilla.wikime...@publi.purodha.net CC: bugzilla.wikime...@publi.purodha.net There are several lists having individual parameters like from=, offset=, limit= etc. which may, or may not exist, expecting a variety of either counts, or names/titles/record-id/timestamps/goups names, or other. Some can, some cannot be as well be submitted via a Special:Pagename/start syntax. So as to ease the use of special pages parameters, I'd suggest to find identical names for identical usage throughout all such pages, including the ubiqutous possibility to arbitrarily use both names and entry numbers to start a listing from, and to end a listing at. Also, it would be wise to report wrong or unsopported parameters instead of silently igoring them. This would imho best be taken care of by moving the standard parameter treatment into a subroutine, and giving each special page the opportunity to parameterize it, as to which ones are supported. This would also help to i18n the parameter names. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17255 --- Comment #3 from Michael Dale d...@ucsc.edu 2009-01-30 18:39:42 UTC --- in response to comment #1 yea its really simple we just collect a set of post files and concatenate them.. no special HTTP upload handling code. maybe concatenate by running shell command to avoid sending all that data through php but not a big deal either way. in response to comment #2 is there some standard that you would prefer we use? The only thing I am aware of is the google proposed resume upload code http://code.google.com/p/gears/wiki/ResumableHttpRequestsProposal Notice even Google (with their custom clients) has taken the 1 meg chunk at a time approach because it avoids modifications to HTTP protocol. The date is formated using the user's preferences. Perhaps it'd be useful to have a parmater dateformat= or userdateformat= (userdateformat is the name of the equivalent feature in DPL2) that takes syntax the same as {{#time:}} which formats the date. If its unspecified, the extension would default to user preferences, like current behavoir. If specified, it would format the date using a format string. For example DynamicPageList category=published count=1 addfirstcategorydate=true dateformat=F /DynamicPageList Would make: *January: Brain chemical Serotonin behind locusts’ swarming instinct instead of *January 30, 2009: Brain chemical Serotonin behind locusts’ swarming instinct Note: at this time, this feature isn't really needed all that much, as we [at en wikinews] get along fine without it, but I think it might be a cool thing to have. If someone create an account A on a wiki, and after create an account B on same wiki, of course, without renaming, this person stay with two different accounts there. The idea is implement a mechanism to merge these accounts, where the user would choose one of the usernames to be the main, and the contributions would be stay together. In part, this is like Special:Renameuser. Certainly, the user have to prove that owns the two accounts and after this, he or she will login with the username chosen to be the main, as well the user, user talk and history pages will show the content of the main account. Preferably, the user and talk page of the other username should be deleted, because it'll be impracticable to merge. I hope this will be implemented and will help a lot of people. [Bug 17146] Search results for utf-8 strings
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17146 Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||br...@wikimedia.org Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Comment #1 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2009-01-31 01:19:31 UTC --- The form returns results just fine for me... SearchUpdate::doUpdate() takes the output of Language::stripForSearch() and does further processing to strip markup etc. This includes running it through strtolower() to make it entirely lowercase. This extra lowercasing is *not* done by Special:Search, which produces the discrepancy you noted -- only the input data is being lowercased. Searching ééé FUNKY hits this query: SQL: SELECT /* WikiSysop */ page_id, page_namespace, page_title FROM `page`,`searchindex` WHERE page_id=si_page AND MATCH(si_title) AGAINST('+U8c3a9U8c3a9U8c3a9 +funky' IN BOOLEAN MODE) AND page_is_redirect=0 AND page_namespace IN ('0') LIMIT 20 However the backend search engine is case-insensitive so it shouldn't make a difference. :) Worth going ahead and fixing though, just in case.
