[Bug 32959] New: Private filters should not be visible in recent changes

Bug #: 32959
Summary: Private filters should not be visible in recent
changes
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: AbuseFilter
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: gti...@gmail.com
CC: agarr...@wikimedia.org
Classification: Unclassified

When a vandal is active, and someone creates/changes a private abusefilter to
stop him, there will be a log event in recent changes, available for the vandal
to see. This can draw unwanted attention to the feature. Such log events should
be hidden from users without the abusefilter-viewprivate right.

Hm, same here with SMW 1.7alpha. Unfortunately the bugfix in comment 3 does not
help for SMW 1.7, because the mentioned function is different.

Support would be great - thanks a lot.

[Bug 32961] New: Crashes with 'loading...' message when click '+' (MW 1.18)

 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: critical
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: CategoryTree
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: jon_w...@hotmail.co.uk
Classification: Unclassified

Problem arose on upgrade from MW1.16.5 to MW1.18.

The + symbols do appear (after making the change at
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CategoryTree#.5Bx.5D_.5B.2B.5D_.5B-.5D_toggles_shown_only_on_the_first_level_of_the_category_tree_view)

When the + symbols are clicked the 'loading...' line appears but the
sub-categories never load.

This happens with MW1.18 with CategoryTree release 44056 (which worked fine
with MW 1.16.5) and the CategoryTree snapshot release for MW1.18.

This happens the same in IE, Chrome and Firefox.

Thank you in anticipation

[Bug 29102] Upgrade fails Unknown character set: 'mysql4

2011-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29102

--- Comment #27 from Bruno btech...@free.fr 2011-12-11 13:29:27 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #26)

... could it be that this is another name for iso8859?

I think yes, In MySQL 5.0 Manual chapter 9.1.13.2. West European Character Sets
at this place dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/charset-we-sets.html there are
this:
...latin1 is the default character set. MySQL's latin1 is the same as the
Windows cp1252 character set. This means it is the same as the official ISO
8859-1...

I might assume that we can change sql4 in that file to a charset that exists
in
our database, would it hurt to change that to utf8? or what about :-
would this work perhaps?
I think this is a possibility

But for now, I tested another solution:
The database of my wiki is in utf8, so I changed the charset of the table
'Revison' from latin1 to utf8, and then the upgrade completed successfully.
I do not know if this is correct, but for now I have not seen any malfunction.

Perhaps an old upgrade had functioned poorly, I think in the transition from
MySQL 4 to 5, and conversion to utf8.
I have not tried a fresh installation, but it would know the charset assigned
to each table, and then possibly to correct our bases, or to issue a patch
integrated with upgrades.

Even though https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/102488 made
it into the mediawiki 1.18.0 release I'm still hitting a very similar issue
when upgrading from 1.17.1 to 1.18.0:
(In reply to comment #12)
I can reproduce the error in MySQL, but with r102488 followed up with r105010

This is not surprising, because during the upgrade, the code corrected by
r102488 is not used (I do not know when an installation))

BrokenRedirects, DoubleRedirects and Listredirects all have the same issue,
which is just them not setting anything for the value.

Which means the API isn't to blame...

Per the querypage documentation, the modules themselves are at fault

* Note that the query itself should return the following three columns:
* 'namespace', 'title', and 'value'. 'value' is used for sorting.

With reference to
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Article_feedback/Version_5/Testing, I have been
doing Phase 1.0 testing. In Option 1, the comment box does not come with any
sort of instructions or hint, and this gives an immediate sense of wrongness.
(Options 2 and 3 do come with hints.) I am filing this bug report at the
request of Oliver Keyes.

[Bug 32964] New: Call to Action inappropriate for articles that user cannot actually edit

With reference to
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Article_feedback/Version_5/Testing, I have been
doing Phase 1.0 testing. When I clicked on the Edit link in the Call to
Action, I found myself taken to a View Source page that informed me, in a
very confusing way, that I could not actually edit the article, because it is
protected. It seems to me that users should only receive the Call to Action if
they actually do have the capability of editing the article. (My personal
opinion is that the Call to Action does not belong in the Feedback Tool at all,
but if it is there it should at least not make false promises.)

I'll also note that the page I was taken to was poorly laid out and contained
several template errors -- but this might only be a consequence of being on the
test wiki rather than en.wikipedia.

Hello,

I've SMW 1.7 beta 1.
I updated MediaWiki from 1.17 to 1.18, and when I ran the update.php
maintenance script, I got this error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method

/var/www/delibris.fr/www/wiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki-1.7b1/SemanticMediaWiki.hooks.php
on line 29

I disabled SMW, made the update, and reactivated it and everything seems fine.

Cheers

[Bug 32969] New: Maps: including Validator.

2011-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32969

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 32969
 Summary: Maps: including Validator.
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Maps
AssignedTo: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com
ReportedBy: van.de.bug...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

`Maps' extension requires `Validator' extension to work. If `Validator'
extension is not yet enabled, `Maps' includes it:

// Include the Validator extension if that hasn't been done yet, since it's
required for Maps to work.
if ( !defined( 'Validator_VERSION' ) ) {
@include_once( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/../Validator/Validator.php' );
}

// Only initialize the extension when all dependencies are present.
if ( ! defined( 'Validator_VERSION' ) ) {
die( 'bError:/b You need to have a
href=http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Validator;Validator/a
installed in
order to use a
href=http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Maps;Maps/a.br /' );
}

This, probably, helps a little in simple cases, so wiki site admin may not
worry about enabling Validator. However, in complex cases does not help but it
confuses.

I have a kind of wiki farm, and have multiple versions of extensions installed
side-by-side, for example:

Validator
Validator-0.4.12
Validator-0.4.13

so one wiki site can use Validator-0.4.12, another site can use
Validator-0.4.13, and test site can use just Validator (from trunk). In my
`LocalSettings.php' I mistakenly required `Validator-0.4.13' after `Maps', e.
g.:

require_once( .../Maps-1.0.5 );
require_once( .../Validator-0.4.13 );

Instead of having clear error message Maps extension requires Validator.
Please enable it before enabling Maps. (or something similar) I have

Notice: Constant Validator_VERSION already defined in
.../Validator-0.4.13/Validator.php on line 28
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class ValidationError in
.../Validator-0.4.13/includes/ValidationError.php on line 14

Please, do *not* include `Validator' implicitly on behalf of administrator,
but issue clear error message if `Validator' is not yet included.

[Bug 32970] New: MW 1.18; How to determine the search profile / setting of a default search profile

AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: jamesin.hongkon...@gmail.com

In MW 1.18 additional hooks have been added to enhance the Search profiling and
especially creating your own profile works quite well but somehow it is nowhere
to find the possibility the predetermine which profile to use as default. Since
1.18 the standard search always assumes to use profile=advanced which makes
having additional profiles nice but not really convenient as the user has to
change profiles manually (neither the user preference nor the LocalSettings
have a possibility to default a specific profile).

Our question is did we miss the documentation which explains how to set a
default profile or is just by standard that the search uses profile=advanced as
default profile?

I can guess, people will say that this is the intended behaviour and not an
error but to assume that the standard search profile should always be
profile=advanced is a bit short sighted now that we have such nice hooks.

ReportedBy: robinp.1...@gmail.com

An idea that I have had for some time.. Now making a bugzilla entry :)

Some languages have a LanguageConverter implementation. Often these languages
have a localisation for each script. Sometimes (not always) these conversions
are exact mappings without any or only a few ambiguities. In such cases (not
when there is ambiguity!) it should be possible to let LanguageConverter
convert the interface message, so translator efforts are not duplicated.

Take e.g.
* ike-latn
* ike-cans
Both are localised, and their messages are identical. If you transliterate
ike-latn to Syllabics (and vice versa) you have the exact same message.

So it would be useful to localise to only one of them, and then let MediaWiki
convert it to the other script when generating localisation caches.

An audio captcha? I would consider it a domain specific problem. Knowledge
about mediawiki isn't a requisite. The glue could be added by others if needed.
I think the two questions to do that are:

a) How to generate the sound? (voice file of project foo? a prerecorded set of
digits which are presented randomly?)

b) Which kind of distortion would be applied to the sound?

A naive approach of concatenating digits from a set is probably relatively
easy (just indagate a bit about sound formats), but that would alo be trivial
to undo.

Maybe we should try to involve people working in that field, such as Theora,
festival or CMU Sphinx.

 Language name: Vepsän

Can this be double checked pls? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veps_language
says: natively as vepsän kel’

Maybe kel’ means language?

In any case names.php has to be changed. Current entry is Vepsan kel'.

kel' does mean language indeed. That's the only Uralic word that I know :)
I changed the a to ä in r105832.

and the hit counter is a nice feedback. If this is split into an extension, it
probably would be a good idea to have it bundled with the installer.

The You have not set up your wiki, click here convenience link to
mw-config/index.php does not point to correct file if the referrer is not
index.php but index.php/Foo. (/Foo is shorthand for ?title=Foo, of course --
but the problem is the slash - the full version does not suffer from the same
problem).

It seems unlikely to me that anyone's entry point would be action URL sequence,
but it would be nice to make sure no first time installer came across a broken
link. Perhaps a check could be written into the page rather than simply
outputting a relative URL?

[Bug 32403] RTL title ending in a neutral-direction character displays incorrectly when viewing in an LTR language

2011-12-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #2 from Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) robinp.1...@gmail.com
2011-12-11 23:22:21 UTC ---
I was aware of this when making the change so that the direction depends on the
user interface language (bug 6100). I didn't know how the direction of the
title should be decided, so I left it as is.

We cannot use the page content language because then MediaWiki:Message/he
would be RTL, but the title obviously is LTR (except when the namespace is
localised) regardless of the content.

We have two alternatives:
* use dir=auto (only on Chrome so far) which would automatically put the
title at the right place
* use a hack by using both RLM and LRM, as I did for special page lists
(Language::specialList())

[Bug 32976] New: [SF] fields to allow only existing values, with error otherwise

Consider a field that lets a user set a value based on a category, like this:

 {}

Currently, the field will allow the user to save a value that does not exist.
I propose that the field can be defined so that the saved value is limited to
existing values, like this:

 {}

The user could still type in a non-existing page, but existence is verified
after the user clicks the Save page button. If the value does not exist
within the values from parameter, an error message displays and the form
stays open. That error message behavior would match that of a mandatory field
that is empty when submitted.

It works (or rather breaks) the other way, too:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Therapy%3F?uselang=he

The quickest way to fix it would probably be to add dir=auto to the titles.
It's dirty, it won't solve all the cases and it will only work in the newest
browsers - it probably only works in Chrome currently, but will soon work in
Firefox, and it will not affect other browser badly. But it will be better than
the current situation.

I'm not keen on using RLM and LRM at all. It's too complicated and won't solve
all the problems.

This will display images instead of silently storing them in an array:

Using #arrayprint from the Arrays extension will then fail:

Using link=none on the #ask query will still non-silently produce a
File:pagename list:

Once again, using #arrayprint from the Arrays extension will then fail:

Also, #arraymap from Semantic Forms will also fail:

With two different extensions failing to make use of the data that the SMW
array format is providing, in two different ways, it appears that the array
format is non-functional when dealing with files and/or images.

The workaround is to use the list format, with the sep=, parameter to
manually construct a data set:

The #arrayprint then succeeds:

The #arraymap also succeeds:

I marked this as major instead of critical because although the array feature
of SMW's Semantic Result Formats is non-functional with images (I didn't test
other data types), the problem can be worked around as described. Here's the
relevant documentation. Note that part of it is incomplete, and does not
describe some of the things I did in my examples above:

Text prompt should disappear, and the input text should be a darker color than
the suggestive text.

I was able to recreate this in IE7/XP. FF4 and Chrome 15 on XP work as
expected.

Done slightly differently on trunk in r105853 -- tagging for 1.18, 1.18wmf1
merge. Looks like something probably broke during a refactor and a var didn't
get hoisted down to the tablepager class.

Good catch, and thanks for the report patch!

This would appear to be a Toolserver-specific issue? If so, it should be at
Toolserver JIRA.[1] You'll probably get better service over there.

If not, this bug is filed in the wrong product (should be Wikimedia). Again,
faster service.

(In reply to comment #0)
Dear All ,
Thanks for updating Narayam to Marathi Language requirements in recent
Hackathon in Mumbai.(You can view the google online presentation at

Now herewith Marathi Language Wikipedia requests to enable Narayam extension
on
Marathi Language Wikipedia with along with following features (Please see
Community aproval http://mr.wikipedia.org/wiki/विकिपीडिया:कौल )

The extension is available at translatewiki.net , and we marked as beta till we
get feedback from the community that it is stable can be enabled in
mr.wikipedia. So please test and give us confirmation that it works as
expected.

1)Narayam should be default font inputting system for all unregistered users
and all users for upto 500 edit

We can make Narayam enabled by default. But the extension does not check the
edits count.

2) The requested inputting facility should be applicable on all namespaces
including inter active popup windows meant for inserting links and references

This should be ok.

3)Also applicable at edit summary, all search windows, all input boxes specialy
type=create group

The extension will be enabled in all editable fields.

4)Shall have Marathi inscript keyboard layout option too as per windows
non-default option

Transliteration is the default one.

5)Should be applicable to all skins including vector

We don't support all the mediiawiki skins. Extension supports Vector,
Monobook, Modern skins.

6. Narayam should be default to above said user category to New User Creation
and User Login

Extension does not distinguish uses based on any category.

7.Narayam keyboard structure should be editable to Marathi Wikipedia sysops at
local level

No, The extension does not provide this feature.

If the community is ok with the extension after verifying it at
translatewiki.net, please inform us here. We will enable it in mr wikis in the
next i18n deployment.

the images were shown reasonably and the directionality was mostly OK too. (The
