[Bug 46058] sorting order in categories for sv.wikisource
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46058 --- Comment #5 from Ronnie la.val...@yahoo.se --- (In reply to comment #3) Icu seems to support making custom collations at run time (based on docs). However php's intl extension doesnt seem to expose this. So we are probably left with hacking it over top (aka turn w to v before feeding it to icu). Or somehow getting upstream to make a sv historical collation (they already have 2 sv collations - reformed and normal) however that would probably be a difficult process I imagine. I suppose third option is getting php upstream to expose custom collation maling methods To clarify, when you say sort the same way do you mean totally identical, or just primary identical? (The sort algorithm has 3 levels. We check the primary level first ( ie different letters: A vs B) if there is a tie on that level for all letters then we move on to check accents (roughly). If there is a tie again we move on to checking case distinction. In your case it sounds like you would want V and W to be the same on the primary level but different on the secondary level - is that the case? (Which might be a moot point since the hack over top solution would only allow making them identical.) If there are two pages with the defaultsort Vallenberg and Wallenberg, I think V should be sorted before W as if W was a diacritic of V, but it is not critical. Earlier W was just regarded as another way of writing V. The letter W was almost only used in names and foreign words. Then somebody invented 'World Wide Web', and you know the rest of the story better than me... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46058 --- Comment #6 from Ronnie la.val...@yahoo.se --- (In reply to comment #2) Also, there is a patch underway to make setting different collations on a per-category basis possible, see bug 44667 (it's a part of that branch). You might want to wait until it's available, to be able to set V=W for Swedish-language categories, and normal sorting for the rest. Can be a good idea, but is is not essential. [Bug 45861] Lua modules are ignored during PDF export
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45861 --- Comment #32 from Volker Haas volker.h...@pediapress.com --- (In reply to comment #30) Lua tests: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bays_of_the_Philippines The presentation of the Lua-based coordinates is somewhat malformed, but still usable (whereas before they were simply absent). I fixed this with https://github.com/pediapress/mwlib/commit/fbce5a01c3b05b5f6aea6ee38bdf7acf76b44719 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Russia The Lua-based climate boxes look great in PDF, but all the references embedded in the templates are absent from the References section. The problem is that the expandTemplates API call returns with some unexpanded templates: Minimal Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Volker.haas/TemplateExpansion Result: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=expandtemplatesformat=jsonfmtext={{User:Volker.haas/TemplateExpansion}} Can this be fixed on the mediawiki end? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_bridges_in_the_world The Lua-based number formatting and conversions look perfect. However some of the non-Lua based references seem incorrect (e.g. #54). This is the same problem as described above: unexpanded templates after an expandTemplates mediawiki API call. Complex, non-Lua test: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama On wiki there are 335 numbered notes, the PDF skips many of the numbers so that only 58 are actually present, and the numbers that are present don't match the wiki numbering. I haven't checked that thoroughly but I am pretty sure it is the same problem as above. Sidenote about the numbering being off (despite the bug that is present): In order to present links in an unobtrusive way they are also put in the reference section of the PDF. This is the cause that the numbering of references in the article and the PDF is different (whoever, in the PDF the numbering should be correct) To be clear this is testing the Barack Obama article with _traditional template-based citations_. So whatever change was made appears to have caused problems with normal article rendering. So altogether these changes look like good progress towards handling Lua, BUT there also seem to be negative impacts the presentation of other unrelated page elements, especially references. This includes the traditional {{cite}} template-based references. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

For instance, sometimes I see an issue in an article or a template but I don't have time to fix it at the moment, so I would like to add to the TODO list so that I do not forget to return to it later. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42939 Ed Sanders esand...@wikimedia.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||esand...@wikimedia.org --- Comment #1 from Ed Sanders esand...@wikimedia.org --- Right now the Save button becomes enabled after the first transaction is applied and never goes back to disabled, even if the first transaction is undone. While this isn't ideal, doing a full HTML comparison on pretty much every keystroke may be a bit of an unnecessary overhead. Even doing an transaction stack comparison is a little unnecessary. The real problem here is the creation of null edits and that only needs to be addressed when the save button is pressed. (In reply to comment #32) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Russia The Lua-based climate boxes look great in PDF, but all the references embedded in the templates are absent from the References section. The problem is that the expandTemplates API call returns with some unexpanded templates: Minimal Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Volker.haas/TemplateExpansion Result: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api. php?action=expandtemplatesformat=jsonfmtext={{User:Volker.haas/ TemplateExpansion}} Can this be fixed on the mediawiki end? Would be good to file a separate ticket for this, so it doesn't get lost. This report is about code changes in the Collection extension. It wouldn't surprise me if there's already a bug about it somewhere. Note the problem is in the parser, not the API. The problem is that the underlying parser logic behind expandtemplates treats anything inside a tag hook's tags (e.g. between ref and /ref) as opaque text to be handled by the tag hook's callback. Some of those callbacks turn right around and parse the contents, but that happens at a later stage than where expandtemplates stops. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 43008] [Regression] MWException when saving section=new on .css and .js pages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43008 --- Comment #8 from Daniel Kinzler daniel.kinz...@wikimedia.de --- This should no longer be an *internal* error, but a normal user level error. Which it currently is, as far as I can see. I maintain that adding sections to JavaScript makes no sense and is misleading. Section support needs more than just adding sections, it also needs a way to split a text by section, etc. This would horribly break JS. The use case described by bug 43784 is a nasty hack, if you want a nice interface for appending to page text, file a feature request for that. I'll not close this now, so to not start an edit war. I suggest however to again close this as fixed, especially since the original problem, the fatal error, is gone. What is left is a request to restore the ability to somehow append to JavaScript. That should be a separate bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
