It looks just fine: * There's a folder i18n/ with en.json in it. * There a line $wgMessagesDirs['SpecialCentralAuth'] = __DIR__ . '/i18n'; in CentralAuth.php I checked other sites on wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org. These sites also miss messages for CentralAuth (as observed by seeing centralauth-desc on Special:Version: * http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:Version * http://commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:Version No other extensions appear to be missing their description message on Special:Version of *.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org. We need release notes explaining: 1) what changed exactly, 2) why, 3) how a wiki can be configured to keep the 1.22 styles. Once done, though it's not on the coding mandatory part, 4) MediaWiki users need to be notified on mediawiki-l, 5) [[mw:MediaWiki 1.23]] needs to be updated. Point (1) can perhaps be achieved by distilling the content of [[mw:Typography refresh]], while for (2) we're currently in total lack of rationales (cf. https://www.mediawiki.org/?oldid=945913#Wikipedia_or_MediaWiki.3F) and on (3) I've not heard anything. Among Latin alphabets that we’ll be displaying, Vietnamese is a bit of a special case for stacking diacritics. GentiumAlt’s flatter diacritics allow it to fit Vietnamese on a standard-height line at the cost of some legibility. If anything, we need more exaggerated diacritics that can survive the distortions. I doubt we can exclude words with diacritics, we'd only have 500 left out of thousands in vi's case.
