Re:[WSG] A Linux Check please?
Hey Joseph, Yeah, the layout works fine here ! I'm running Iceweasel 2.0 on Debian etch. By the way, anybody can tell me if there is a difference in spaces between Linux and Windows ? Well, I have a little problem here. On Windows the layout which I design works really fine in Firefox and IE. But when I try it on Linux (on Firefox or any other browser) I can see a very very little annoying spaces ! Anybody here already had this kind of problem ? [WSG] gBrowser from Google
Hi everyone I was recently told by a friend that there is talk of a browser to be released soon by Google called gBrowser I have googled for any news on it, and what support for standards it may have, but haven't really heard much.. To keep on topic, has anyone heard whether it will follow standards at all?? Or will it do a Netscape and use Mozilla and add extras on top? Their toolbar is IE only (a Mozilla version project at http://sourceforge.net/projects/google-toolbar/ has not moved in ages), so I am hoping they aren't going to base on IE With the number of gmail accounts going about, I can only think what a few gmail plug-ins to a gBrowser can do, before nearly every desktop will have it installed. I recall someone showed how a user can make their default font say Arial, 10, etc with particular colour like black on white background. Its all configured in a CSS file. So it over rides the CSS style that a website uses. I'd like to do some testing of a site and trying to factor this scenario in. Off-list responses welcomed.. Exactly what I was looking for. This has now got me thinking whether it would be possible to test a website with a print media css to see what it looks like with print css.. Re: [WSG] XP SP 2
I would seriously recommend you use a mail client that supports threading like Mozilla Thunderbird.. (Assuming you are right-handed) Left-click on the folder to want to see threaded, then click View-Sort By and then Threaded and thats it! You can also use extensions like ForumZilla (http://forumzilla.mozdev.org/) for RSS news feeds and you have everything you would possibly need :) Ralph Liza Ng wrote: Hey all, I apologise for having replied to this thread after it had been closed due to its irrelevance to web standards. Tim Yang wrote: Hi I'm just floating an idea. I was quite interested several months ago in re-doing some big non-standards sites like slate.com into standards compliance for my portfolio. I also just wanted to find out if I had the skills to meet the challenge. It was a really interesting experience when I forced myself to re-create what was once a tabled site just using CSS and XHTML. I re-markedup the home page of afl.com.au over a period of about a month. And when I told my after-work project to a few designers, they were really interested in it. So I created a website to explain what I was doing. It's at http://pagesauce.com/ Just tell me if I'm just plain nuts, ok? Or if I just the whole thing wrong. [WSG] Microsoft IE Team available for an online chat
Hi everyone.. I really hope this is not off-topic, but I came across a link on The Web Standards Project's Recent Buzz column, as shown on http://webstandards.org/ It goes: Ever wished you could give your opinion directly to the IE team at Microsoft? Here's your chance! They're making themselves available for an online chat Thursday, July 8, at 10:00 am Pacific. If you are on the East coast of Australia, it equates to 3AM Friday 9th of July (see http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=7day=8hour=10m in=0sec=0p1=234 for your local time). [WSG] W3C XForms Workshop
Hey everyone I attended the W3C Xforms workshop held in Sydney (just the 2nd of the 2 workshops on offer today) and really amazed at what I saw. It's a shame that current support for Xforms is poor, but thinking of all the possibilities it could bring. Validation all performed without JavaScript just for starters.. Anyway, DSTC have a website devoted to the stuff, full with tutorials and examples.
