[Zappa-List] Re: OT: Removing Gaps from TAO Discs

2006-11-05 Thread r2daft2
Can I just add my two penn'orth to this thread.

I too have in the past received TAO audio discs in trades and been
obviously disappointed.

However, I've also received audio discs where the 2 second gaps have
been removed (by what method I do not know) BUT there still remains a
tiny glitch in sound as one track changes to the next which, whilst
not as bad, still shows the origin to be an inferior copy.

My conclusion is that whilst you might want to try removing the gaps
in a TAO recording for your own listening pleasure, I don't think
that discs treated in such a way should ever become masters for a
vine. It is far better to source an original copy.

Even if there are better corrective programmes out there than the
one used on the discs I've heard, I do think the same policy should
apply.

This would be just as bad as vining an audio disc sourced from mp3's
in my opinion.

We shouldn't knowingly corrupt the vine pool if we can help it.

Cheers
Les.

2006-09-04 Thread r2daft2
If I'm in time I might just be able to hop in before the vine leaves
the UK - if that's OK.

The vine would then look like this:

Ashley Harrold (UK) r2daft2 (UK) Arto (Finland) John K in

Otherwise a spot just after Arto will be OK (that is before it leaves

[Zappa-List] Re: VO - Felt Forum Halloween '76 - 6 disks, wav format

2006-05-26 Thread r2daft2
That's odd - I didn't miss this one but somehow my name's gone
missing! and I applied way back in April (Message #12101).
No worry though - as the chain is hoppinated I'll just put myself at
the end of the UK leg of the tour.

The chain should now look like this:

john g in kansas skipsign-us justin smith (us) Luis-AR
Richard Moore - UK Mark Timbrell - UK Restallp, uk Neil - UK
Les Watts (UK) Bart (Pol) Arto (Fin)

Cheers
Les.

[Zappa-List] New Orphans - Chalk Pie, KPFT (Crush All Boxes) Manchester 12 Feb 79

2006-04-22 Thread r2daft2
Hi folks,

I've had no response to the offers of any of these three shows so
they're all being placed in the orphanage until maybe a new member is
interested.
They're all worth having and I suspect the lack of interest is just
down to the fact that they've all been around for a while and most of
us have already got them.
Please note that the Manchester show was designated as a Euro-vine
but as the US copy seems to have disappeared, I can't see why it
can't go world-wide. That said, please note that the same show is
also circulating as part of the excellent Instant Bootleg Collection
Vols. 1 2 vine.

Cheers
Les

I want now to offer this vine to the list as a sort of Xmas
