Re: [Zope-dev] Interest in AdvancedQuery and/or ManagableIndex?
Previously Dieter Maurer wrote: Whit (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) reported that AdvancedQuery is going to ship with Plone3 and that packaging would be easier for them if AdvancedQuery were part of the Zope 2 distribution. According to Whit, Alexander Limi seems to be interested to have Managable Index in the Zope 2 distribution, as well. Plone 3 indeed depends on AdvancedQuery now. Since we manage Plone development via subversion bundles (and must people I know of do the same thing for their development environments) it would make things a lot simpler for us if all products and packages we use can be linked using svn externals. Currently AdvancedQuery is the only one where we can not do that, hence the desire to have it in svn.zope.org as well. Having AdvancedQuery be part of the Zope 2 distribution or core is not relevant for us. AdvancedQuery certainly has some features that would be very nice to have included in Zope 2, but that is a different discussion and something that will require a lot more thought and work. Are there any objections to Dieter donating AdvancedQuery to the Zope Foundation and moving it to svn.zope.org, but keeping him as maintainer of the product? You're still expressing an opinion about what's preferrable as a statement of fact. What's preferrable and workable is not set in stone. People will do what works for them. Matter of fact, there is no preferred or recommended way to distrubute applications at all, really. FWIW, I use two databases, one contains the application and the other (mounted as a folder) contains all the user-created objects. This way I just copy the new database over the old one, keeping the user objects intact. This works fine for our use case. -- Gabriel Genellina Softlab SRL __ Preguntá. Respondé. Descubrí. [Zope] Appropriate Photo / Photo Folder for Zope 2.10.2?
Hello all, I'm having trouble to find an appropriate version for the Photo/Photo Folder product to run under 2.10.2. I'm currently using Roug's 1.3.1[1] which throws some warnings upon start[2]. Also, there's a more recent ExtFile[3] product that I'd like to use if it played well with Photo. Maybe I should use the (much older) Zope3 version?[4] Can anybody please give me a hand with this? Re: [Zope] Appropriate Photo / Photo Folder for Zope 2.10.2?
Hi Andrew, Thanks for your answer. FWIW I decided to keep the version (1.3.1) since it is the last release at the moment. It also seems to play well with ExtFile (at least Zope omitted the included ExtFile in favor of the standalone one). Just for the records, Photo does include a JpgComment.py file (different case) but not a method with that name. [Zope] ZPT problems upgrading 2.9.6 to 2.10.2
Hi all again, As I mentioned in my previous email I'm in the middle of an upgrade from 2.9.6 to 2.10.2, and getting (at least) a couple of errors: Sometimes when a ZPT that gets content from the database (postgres, psycopg 2.0.4) is called, it raises the following UnicodeDecodeError: Module zope.tal.talinterpreter, line 754, in do_insertStructure_tal UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 164: ordinal not in range(128) I've also seen it failing in presence of a 0xc2 byte, and I haven't tested if this is the usual behavior for a non ascii. I have the following directives in the zope.conf file: - rest-input-encoding utf-8 - rest-output-encoding utf-8 - default-zpublisher-encoding utf-8 All my admin forms have an accept-charset=utf-8. So, any hint on why it uses the ascii codec? am I omitting anything? If the problem is in the database, is there any way to pass a replace or ignore argument for unicode error handling? (maybe the DB should do that?). Again, although I don't really know how much garbage was being actually served, the same requests worked under 2.9.6. BTW, I don't think I can isolate where this offending insertion occurs from this traceback (I might be wrong on this, but I think I remember that in previous versions of Zope you could get the line number, or at least the actual culprit's filename) Also, my main template (the file that contains the macro that is used by most other pages) is showing this message when editing TTW: Macro expansion failed exceptions.NameError: name 'widget' is not defined And that's because I have this code: tal:block condition=PAGE/widgets repeat=widget PAGE/widgets metal:singleton use-macro=python:path('context/widgets_sidebar.html/macros/' + widget) / /tal:block Of course the expected macro does exist in the file when the variable widget is evaluated. This not only shows when editing the template itself, but also when doing it on every page that uses it. No, the checkbox Expand macros when editing is not selected an any level. Fortunately, this doesn't prevent the page from being served properly. It does show this warning in the log, though (I can see it when something ELSE fails afterwards): Module zope.pagetemplate.pagetemplate, line 117, in pt_render - Warning: Macro expansion failed - Warning: exceptions.NameError: name 'widget' is not defined Thanks in advance and sorry for the length of this post. [Zope] zope form server and workflow
I'd like to get zope developers advice. I'm interested in the possibility of developing a system by putting together several zope instance that talk to each other via web services. I'd like to use zope as a RESTful server but I am novice zope user. I have only built one product and that was over a year ago. What I would like to do is the following: I'd like to be able to use zope as a url addressed storage system for e-forms. These are forms like you would find in a hospital clinic. There would be a gui interface that would be separate from the zope server (maybe it would also run in a different zope server but it could also be built in php or jsp). The gui pulls a blank e-form by calling http://hospital.org/form_service/patientCareForms/12465.pdf and pre-populates it with patient data taken from the session. Gui then stores the partially completed e-form. MRN is a unique number associated with a patient and FIN is unique to the MRN as well as the current encounter (or visit to the clinic) http://hospital.org/cardiovascular/MRN/FIN/date/uniqueid_12465.pdf then at a later time, gui recalls the same e-form http://hospital.org/cardiovascular/MRN/FIN/date/uniqueid_12465.pdf and sends it to a users mailbox. The mailbox is a zope workflow service http://hospital.org/workflow_service/dr_phil/date/uniqueid_12465.pdf Dr. Phil signs it and sends it to become part of the final medical record and stored in a relational database. The eform data is processed http://hospital.org/workflow_service/process_eform/12465.pdf And the pdf is sent for storage: http://hospital.org/stored_forms/cardiovascular/MRN/FIN/date/uniqueid_12465.pdf Is this possible in zope? Is it even a good idea performance wise? The tough part to me is 1. calling a url with two consecutive url parts that are dynamically generated: /MRN/FIN 2. doing inserts into dynamic areas such as the final storage step. A system like this is would let the physician's use e-forms that look just like the paper forms they are used to and it could be scaled up quickly. ___ Zope maillist - Zope@zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
