Re: Emailing from 4d issues

2017-03-03 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech

The key differences are in the x-Authentication-Results: header

The 4D generated email has the following section in this header:

spf=fail (st11p00mm-spfmilter008.mac.com
<http://st11p00mm-spfmilter008.mac.com/>: domain of di...@print...au
<mailto:di...@printsystems.com.au> does not designate 203.12.160.162 as
permitted sender)

the Outlook generated email has:

spf=pass (st11p00mm-spfmilter008.mac.com
<http://st11p00mm-spfmilter008.mac.com/>: domain of di...@print...au
<mailto:di...@printsystems.com.au> designates 104.47.117.77 as permitted sender)

The correction of this is apparently pretty straight forward

http://www.x-pose.org/2013/10/22/how-to-designate-an-ip-address-as-permitted-sender/

<http://www.x-pose.org/2013/10/22/how-to-designate-an-ip-address-as-permitted-sender/>

The 104.47.117.77 address is in Redmond and is a Microsoft server. What you get
when you subscribe to the Office package .

Replacing FootRunner in v16

2019-02-23 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
Fir many years I have been running scripts for 4D write documents using
Footrunner, then nifty plugin from Footprints.

Now with v16 I no longer have this tool available.

There is a comment on the Footprints web site about looking for a capability in
v16 that replaces Footrunner.

I am going blind, so I must =have missed the way to do this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Compatibility with Widows 10 v1809

2019-05-16 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
I have reports of compatibility issues with windows 10 v1809. It appears that
4D is attempting to write an IP address to the CSC folder, one of windows
system folders.

This is when launching the 4D v13 client.

v13 running on a Windows 10 v1709 client works fine.

Any suggestions about what to try?

Re: Compatibility with Widows 10 v1809

2019-05-19 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
After extensive trouble shooting, all security functions turned off, a v17R4
server will not launch. No screen is displayed nor is any background MIDI
screen showing.

This is happening on a win 10 Pro v1809 box.

Is anyone using this version of Win 10 with 4D v17R4?

I have not had any problems with other versions of Win 10 so this location is a

Re: Compatibility with Widows 10 v1809

2019-05-20 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
Randy,

The event viewer was not nearly as interesting as a tool called Procmon.exe

This is a process monitor that provides a lot of information about what is
going on. Much more detailed than the event viewer.

See the Wikipedia entry. I called it up using Procmon.exe.

This probably a factor, however I have had a couple of responses , such as
yours, that indicated no unusual problems running under 1809.

I understand that the customer was subject to a ransomware attack and bought
the new hardware following the attack for security. But no amount of fiddling
with the settings, including turning them all off achieved a launch.

Running AppleScripts from 4D under Catalina

2020-12-03 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
I have an app where when the user wants to send an email from 4D, the program
builds an AppleScript to communicate with either Mail or Outlook.

This has been working fin from v17R6 under Mojave but returns a message that it
can’t find Mail on Catalina.

I have code signed and notarised the app, set the entitlements to include
Automation in the build and code signing but when I install and run the app on
Catalina the emailing still fails with the same error. Mail is definitely
installed.

The Privacy preference does not show the application in the Automation window
as it does under Mojave.

This is all with 4D v17R6

Any ideas?

Importing PDFs into 4D Win v17R6 - v18 and converting

2021-01-20 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
I am trying to import PDFs into 4D win and then upload them as png files to a
web site.

This works seamlessly on a Mac but my client uses Win 10.

I am able to load the pdf into a BLOB but when I do BLOB to Picture as a PDF,
the 4D picture variable displays as the Camera with a cross through it and .pdf
at the bottom of the image area.

I am using 4D v17R6 on a Win 10 OS I have Quicktime installed but I am nort
sure if that has any part two play.

Ideally I would like to convert the pdf to a png in Windows, It works for me on
the Mac

Cheers,

SuperReport printer choice not respected by Windows 10

2021-06-09 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
I am finding that the choice of printer that I specify in my superReports is
not being respected by Windows 10. Instead the “Default” printer is being used.

I am looking for a way around this.

I am using 4D v17R6 and SuperReports 4.2.1

Cheers,

Thanks Spencer but that is an obsolete command to be removed. There does not
seem to be any thing in v4

Compiled Structure does not Match Data

2021-10-05 Thread Peter Adam via 4D_Tech
I apolitically;ogise for asking a question related to v13 but my client has
been tardy in accepting an upgrade.

However before making the move I have had to make some changes to the v13 DB
and something that has been modified without issue for many years now is
failing when I compile and merge it.

I compile and merge the structure with its datafile, no problems reported.

I then launch the compiled server point it at the datafile that has just been
used in the compiling process and i get the message
The structure and data files do not correspond to each other. The data file
cannot be opened with this structure.

When I click the close button on the dialog, I then get an error dialog, Cannot
delete record in table Resources of Database…

and the details list a lot of Cannot save record… and the key line seems to be
Wrong header.

All this is happening on Windows 10.

Suggestions?

Cheers,

Peter Adam
