Hi Everyone,
I have been talking a lot with my friends in various spaces; about the
inaccessibility of mobile apps, and the wonderful work Mission Accessibility
has been doing on that front, to bring about change. Friends, who are either
employed with some ofthe companies we've been trying to reach, or some where
they think they may be able to facilitate contact, have offered to try and help
reach relevant persons, and weigh in on them about the issue.
For that, one of my friends, has created a simple Google form to be able to
understand which companies to get to, in order of priority, to get going. I
request everyone to please answer this simple survey, so we can have another
avenue to get to those who won't listen to us easily enough.

Re: [AI] Regarding getting mails from Google group in particular Gmail folder

2023-04-07 Thread Saravanan K
In order to set rules based on from or to field, let us have a filter
on subject with content as [AI] .
That is, left bracket AI right bracket with space
Surely, this filter will work.
Try it .

 Hello,
What specific phrase you are putting in the subject lines? I have
defined [AI] which is the signature phrase of the mails from
AccessIndia. Also, you need to be very specific while defining the
from field. AccessIndia mails usually land from
accessindia@accessindia.org.in. If you define these two fields
correctly, I think you should be good to go.

[AI] Request for Details about Tennis Balls for Visually Impaired

2023-04-07 Thread Dhruv Agarwal
Greetings,
I hope this email finds you well

I was looking forward to buying a tennis ball for playing cricket and
catching by throwing against the wall. For this, I wanted to understand if
there are any such balls available for the visually impaired. This is the
first time I am looking forward to such activity.

Thanks and Regards,
Dhruv Agarwal

Subject: [AI] Free webinar on Gmail in standard view

  Dear All,

Mail communication is the exchange of computer-stored messages from one user to
one or more recipients via the internet. Emails are a fast, inexpensive and
accessible way to communicate for business or personal use.
Most of us are using gmail as our primary mail domain. We are using basic HTML
view handy till date. But, google is taking steps to remove basic HTML view and
forcing us to use standard view in future.
To get ourselves clarified in our gmail communication & to get a clear cut
picture on it, Desktop solutions is organising a general awareness program on
standard view in gmail on 02-Apr-2023 (Sunday)at 10:00 AM. We are cordially
inviting you all to attend this session & get benefitted from the same. You
will be educated with the base idea on standard view of gmail on attending this
knowledge sharing session. We kindly request you to register in the following
link to attend the session. Try to register before the last date. We will send
the link for the registered candidates only for attending the session.
The registration link will be available till Friday, Evening 31st, March,
2023. In this session, you will also get the opportunity to ask your doubts, if
any. You can also obtain the opinion from the speakers on your queries. So
register yourself quickly here before we exhaust our limited seats:

Re: [AI] Seeking advice from AccessIndian members on securing a teaching job as a visually impaired person

2023-04-07 Thread anirudh rao
hi there,
let us not generalize on few instances about anything.
the intake of the blind in the corporate sector now, too has improved
because of the prolonged efforts of awareness and advocacy.
the private institutes must be made aware of our capabilities.
the awareness can be achieved only when we have some instances to show
them as testimonies.
it is wrong to advice someone to focus only on the government sector.
the right thought would be to make our career choices in whatever the
sector one likes.
please do try in the private sector too if your interest lies there.
as it is said, rome was not built on a day and change would not come overnight.
I too work in a private college as an assistant professor in the
subject same as yours.
yes I had the same problems.

I'm sorry in one of my earlier mails I'd inadvertently advised to
define the "From field. However instead of "From Field", the
"To Field" should be define because all Access India mails are
delivered to accessindia@accessindia.org.in. Just see if this helps.

I have defined these two fields in a same way that you told. After this
only one mail from access India came in that label which I have asigned,
but again mails from access India are coming in inbox. Not in that label. I
don't know where I am doing mistake

Re: [AI] Seeking advice from AccessIndian members on securing a teaching job as a visually impaired person

2023-04-07 Thread Avichal Bhatnagar
Hi Meet,
The fact is that private institutes and universities do not want to
recruit visually impaired teachers, so its better that you don't waste
your time and energy over there and instead focus upon government
institutes.
Forget about recruitment, majority of private institutes don't want to
even admit blind students for any course.
I once tried taking admission in a leading private university of
Jaipur, but was flatly refused admission by the VC on the grounds that
they do not have adequate infrastructure to cater to the needs of a
blind student.

Delhi hospital launches smart vision glasses for visually impaired,
   blind

A private hospital here launched smart vision glasses that are based on
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning technology, providing
new hope to the visually impaired and blind.

The vision glasses are lightweight and feature a camera, a sensor, and
come with AI/ML technology, making it even more effective in assisting
users.

The glasses project images, provide walking assistance, and include face
recognition capabilities, accompanied by a smart earpiece that reads and
understands, and relays information to the wearer.

Additional features include voice assistance and GPS navigation, making
them an essential tool for visually impaired patients to navigate and
avoid obstacles.

The wearable device, launched on Wednesday by Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye
Hospital, in association with Vision Aid India and Bengaluru-based
startup SHG Technologies, creates a more interactive, interesting, and
independent world for those with visual impairments.

“Technology has the power to revolutionise the lives of individuals with
visual impairments, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this
progress of eradicating blindness from the country,” said Umang Mathur,
Executive Director and CEO of Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, in a
statement.

“The smart vision glasses represent a significant step towards enhancing
the quality of life for the visually impaired and blind patients. It is
our firm belief that healthcare is a basic human right and should be
accessible to all, regardless of their economic status or physical
condition,” he added.

The smart vision glasses come at a time when the number of visually
impaired and blind patients in India is on the rise.

According to the World Health Organization, there are currently an
estimated 15 million blind people in India, and another 135 million
people with some form of visual impairment.

Re: [AI] BCA and BBA graduates

2023-04-07 Thread Minar Singh
Hi Saurav,

If you want to enter in to the work force after 3 years then go for
BCA. BBA won't help much. If you have enough time and resources then
go for BBA later MBA. Frankly saying Btech or MBA may give job with
decent salary. I know few BCA and BBA guies and their struggle in job
market. They are sighted working with me in the same company.

Re: [AI] Chat-gpt response on a query how to make a blind person understand the concept of colours

2023-04-07 Thread Muhammad Mishbahul
This generative AI technology is truly revolutionary. I have asked various questions whith  chat GPT like treatment of various diseases associated with blindness, love/relationship matters with VI  and sighted persons, what blind person can do and their practical/pragmatic, limitation, etc. etc. I have found its responses are very promising. this technology, indeed have potential to ease our living and. expand the horizon of accessibility.Sent from my iPhoneOn 06-Apr-2023, at 7:31 PM, ilovec...@gmail.com wrote:The best analogy I know was you can compare 7 colours to 7 music notes.  As these notes produce different sounds, in the same way colours produce different visuals/images/pictures whatever way you interpret them.
