Two simple questions for which I should know the answer, but don't:
Does XP SP2 include the .NET framework?
Yes
If so, what version(s)? Does it include any bits from the upcoming
.NET
service packs [1]?
I don't think so as the SP isn't released yet. The system.dll
My understanding is that .NET Framework is not included in SP2
There is no mention of it at all here:

I can't give any authoritive answers, but I have the following
As luck would have it, I just installed a fresh machine with Windows XP,
did all the auto-updates, then added the network/many computers version
of XPSP2. Immediately thereaftere, I did a full install of the SQL
Server 2005 Beta and got to watch it do a fresh install of the .net 2.0
runtime.
So,
So, unless the SQL Server installer is working incorrectly
(improbable, but not inconceivable,) XPSP2 didn't install the
2.0 framework.
Given that even your SQL Server 2005 BETA does
NOT NOT NOT install the .NET 2.0 framework, just a beta,
It is pretty clear that XPSP2 will NOT install
Oh relax already.

I'm seeing this WebException pop up randomly when connecting to an ASP.NET

and a colleague here said that you get an option as part of the auto-run to
install .NET Framework.
The .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 is included on the RTM XPSP2 ISO image from MSDN.

How good is the (x86) JITter at producing optimal code from IL? I was
looking at some IL generated by the C# compiler, and it struck me as fairly
even when optimization was turned on. Of course, this doesn't matter if the
JITter can optimize away the superfluous local variables, loads and
Relxation is definitely in order..
No updates with XP SP2, if there was I'm sure you would have heard about
it by now.

I do a lot of research dev for Tablet PC. The improvements to the Tablet
PC experience w/ SP2 are *huge*, definitely not the kind of thing you expect
of a SP, more like a major rev (or two or three).
It would not be out of the question to require
