In other words you want a deep cycle battery, not a starting battery. Not that the starting battery won't work, but deep discharging hurts it more. We just bought a bunch of Exide MC-31. 125ah AGM, 70lbs each. Free shipping via Amazon Prime. McCown likes Enersys Genesis (or he advocated them in the past). Re: [AFMUG] optima battery preference for battery boxes
I don’t have personal experience, but from the Optima website FAQ: Note: The difference between BLUETOP® and YELLOWTOP® deep-cycle batteries is that BLUETOP® batteries have both automotive (SAE) posts and threaded studs, while YELLOWTOP®S (other than D31T) only have SAE terminals. If you ever get confused on the colored tops, just remember: if it has a dark gray case, then it’s a starting battery; if it has a light gray case, then it’s a deep-cycle (dual-purpose) battery. Re: [AFMUG] SkyDog alternative
It’s a cloud hosted filtering service. The router is only OK IMO, being a Wireless N router with GigE ports. It can only do about 150Mbps of traffic across the WAN interface though. The cool thing is I can change and turn on/off the kids access to their kindles and devices from my phone from anywhere I have internet access. Very useful, full of features, and near instantaneous. Agreed on SkyDog's speed - just not enough. This one does what you mention on the control/filtering plus is dualband concurrent 11ac. I'll follow up with the other on-list interested parties. Re: [AFMUG] SkyDog alternative
We were making $2,000+/month net profit off our filtering service. It was a server from 8e6 that was located in our data center. We did a 36 month lease on the server and all updates and I think it was costing us like $1,000/month. We were billing $3,500/month in filtering services. Re: [AFMUG] optima battery preference for battery boxes
We had a pair of yellow tops on an old APC 1500RM2U for about 7 years. We abused it quite a bit and it worked great. One of them finally gave up the ghost and ended up with a shorted cell. At that point, the fan was dead so we chucked it and used the good battery in one of the trucks. There's no reason to do something like that again today. Use AGMs designed for the application, telco, UPS, etc. On 6/11/2015 9:54 AM, Paul McCall wrote: My understanding is that Optima came in two types (in each color). Re: [AFMUG] Customer testimonial, side by side Canopy 450 3.65 GHz
It's a fair question, since we do have 5.15-5.25 GHz (though not in LTE yet), and we have 2.5 GHz (EBS/BRS) and 3.x GHz. In this case David, it is 3.65 GHz. That’s not late for supper so shouldn’t be a problem. I enjoy your Tecate pictures Jaime. Not a real beer expert myself but I’ve been known to choose Tecate over other options. Re: [AFMUG] Customer testimonial, side by side Canopy 450 3.65 GHz
A friend and I were on his roof when we were about 12 years old watching his older brother try to fix the roof. Pretty steep pitch. My friend started to slide off (very steep pitch, 2 story), I grabbed his wrist. What happened next has been subject to debate for a half decade almost: He said: Don't, let go! (being homophobic teenagers and don't need no stinkin' help from anyone). Of course that is my version. No permanent injuries. -Original Message- From: Bill Prince Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2015 1:36 PM To: af@afmug.com Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Customer testimonial, side by side Canopy 450 3.65 GHz Heard one like that yesterday; they were talking about the proper use of a comma. Re: [AFMUG] Force110 PTP links
Why exactly? Just asking. I'm wondering if we should be doing cheap PTP with ePMP or AF5x. I have several Force110 links up (just SMs, not PTP) operating all across the 5GHz bands. And one 10 mile link with Laird 2' dishes using connectorized non-GPS radios. Other than some oddities like intermittent increases in latency, they have all been working very well. Most are still running 2.3.3 and I don't want to touch them because they're working just fine. I'm leaning towards the Force110 PTP radios and whatever antennas required for new links since it fits with all the other Canopy and ePMP stuff (power injection, etc). But the AFs sure are nice when you can do FDD (except the 5X!) and get very low latency like licensed. You can run the PTP radios off passive power too, they're probably the least picky about power of any radios I've used - you can even run them directly off a UBNT power supply. [AFMUG] Hail
Holy crap. http://www.weather.gov/lot/10Jun2015 I think we're gonna have to climb and see if any antennas got complimentary speed holes. If any of the AF24's we have in Minooka got hit, I'll label them airHole (just for Ken) and try to get UBNT to replace them under the refurb program. :) They're all working fine right now, but the RF links were definitely down during that crap.
